hello mod! i understand that works are 'submitted' by posting them in the collection, but i just wanted to know if you, as the one putting together the pdf, have a preference for how to format scene breaks in fics. double space? a line of asterisks? do let us know! :-D

As long as the breaks are easy to identify, it's up to you how you'd like to communicate them! :) There will be a separate submission form for the fics that will go into the printable PDF (as I imagine not all authors and artists would like to jump on that train and have their works automatically added), I will put together a FAQ for those submissions in mid-September! The event will run 11-17th October 2022. If you’d like your works to be included in the printable gazette, please kindly submit them by end of day on the 17th. You can read the rules and look through the FAQ for more information about the event. There are also prompts which you can use as inspiration for your works, but they are not mandatory.
Information on how to download the PDF will be available closer to the date of publication (17th of November). The PDF will be available to everyone for free. If you’d like to throw in a tip for getting a copy, please consider donating to Polar Bears International to help with conservation efforts and to support educating the public about climate change in the Arctic.

FAQ
When does the event run?
From the 11th to the 17th of October 2022 (Francis Crozier’s 124th birthday!).
What kind of content can I create?
All type of content is allowed (e.g. art, fic, gifsets, playlists, sculptures, embroidery; anything goes!). However, only written works and static art (e.g. fanart or high resolution photos of physical objects) can be submitted to and included in the printable version of the project.
What are the rules for the event?
All works have to include Francis Crozier as a main character, and they have to be NSFW. More information can be found on the rules page.
Are there any prompts?
Yes, there are prompts you can use as suggestions for your creations! There’s vanilla and kinky ones, and you can find all of them here.
What is the maximum number of art pieces/fics that can be posted for the event?
There are no restrictions on how many works you can post. However, if you’d like your work to be included in the printable version, you can only submit one work for inclusion, with a final submission deadline of the 17th of October. You can create and post as many other not-for-print works as you like.
What’s the deal with the printable version?
In the spirit of ship’s gazettes and zines of ye olde days, this project will have an easily printable version available so that everyone who would like to hold the works in their hands will be able to do so (provided they have access to a printer). It will be formatted as a downloadable PDF file which will allow you to print on A4 size paper and create an A5 size booklet. All works submitted for the print version will be included in the print version, and the print-at-home method gives you the flexibility to print as much or as little of the PDF as you like. If you’d like to throw in a tip for getting a copy, please consider donating to Polar Bears International to help with conservation efforts and to support educating the public about climate change in the Arctic. More information about submissions will be available closer to the time of the event.
What are the specifications for work(s) for the printable gazette?
For writing: up to 2k words.
For visual art: black & white only, maximum 2 pages (single illustration). Templates are available here.
