Yona 190-191 Thoughts, Swoons, and Theories

Can I just say, I’m sort of in love with this flashback arc? Like I love the HHB of course, and I’m all for finding out more about Soo-won, but this flashback arc is hitting me with things I didn’t even know I needed and I wouldn’t mind being here for months lmao BUT let’s get into it below the cut~ (Spoilers, obviously)

I know that Yuhon is not someone who we’re supposed to be sympathizing, bUT LISTEN let’s just ignore that because, I’m really enjoying him and Yonhi right now. I’m just swooning. Idk what it is exactly, but I think I’m learning something about myself and my tastes with this arc... Whatever it is, IT’S FEEDING ME.

But alas, there is this creeping and foreboding feeling in the back of my mind as we go through this flashback, because we know that everything ends tragically for both of them... BUT just like Yuhon’s war crimes, we’ll ignore that for now.

THEORIES

Now my memory of things that have been brought up and confirmed are a bit hazy so if I say anything that is already confirmed or denied, my bad lol But we got some insight on the priests in chapter 191- Il was going off to offer his prayers, and Yuhon wasn’t TOTALLY against the heavens, he was just like “you can offer prayers anywhere lmao”. But I feel like we’re definitely going to see the priests getting expelled. I wonder if their expulsion has to do with Yuhon finding out about Yonhi’s blood and getting a hatred for the heavens due to it. If Yuhon DID end up coming to hate the heavens and everything involving the dragons due to Yonhi’s illness, perhaps this also lead to Il raising a sword against his own brother as well, considering Yona is very much connected to the heavens. If Yuhon aimed to erase anything connected to Hiryuu and the heavens, it does make you wonder if those “sketchy figures” that are after members of the royal family have to do with Yuhon... hmmm...some food to nibble on...

ANYWAYS, what’s to come? I don’t know, but I’m HOPING for some baby Ik-soo if we got young Mundok. I’m HOPING for more info on the priests. And ultimately I am hoping for more time in this flashback cause it’s some gOOD FOOD

Yona 188 Spoilers, Thoughts, & Future Speculation

Well it seems we’re still in the early stages of this arc, but with this slow build-up there’s still plenty of things to observe and appreciate! Some short (er) thoughts since a bunch of what I wrote got deleted lol (Spoilers obviously)

Yona is on the Move!

One of the big criticisms I’ve seen of this arc is the lack of Yona acting re: the mistreatment of the alliance. It’s definitely a one-sided alliance right now, so I’ve seen people confused or worried about Yona’s subdued attitude towards this. But she’s definitely taking action now and I’m excited to see it! After continuously being told by Min-soo that she can’t meet with Soo-won, Yona is finally moving on her own to find her placement in this alliance and I think it’s a good sign! Also, seeing a hooded-Yona again felt really nice tbh lol

I’m excited to see the interactions we get from Soo-won and Yona this arc from this new development! Yona still has her fight! But I do think Yona will hit a wall. She’s carrying a lot on her shoulders, and I think the only thing that is keeping her from breaking like during the Sei and Xing arc is knowing that Hak, the dragons, and Yoon are safe (for now!) I think as long as she knows that, she’ll be able to keep moving forward.

AND, the mysterious bodyguard made an appearance and dude is SPOOKY.

I can definitely understand Yona’s worries during this arc. It WOULD probably be dangerous for Hak to be around her, considering he’s already #1 on their list of “Top 1 Most Wanted Guys in Kouka”. Also, lowkey drinking up this separation angst. NOT that I want them separated but I kind of eat this melodrama for breakfast.

But Hak will definitely be on high alert now, but I DON’T think Hak will be the next person Yona meets with. She’s met with Jaeha, who already knows something is wrong (also smart on him to not deliver her message to Hak; yay no weird misunderstandings) but I do think Yoon will be the next person she meets.

Will AkaYona end during this arc?

We know from an interview from last year that we were only 70% of the way through the story. With the trajectory, we’d still have YEARS with this series, so it’s too early for it to end. BUT, it’s really hard for me to imagine the HHB traveling around like they once did. So will we be at Kouka from now until the end? I don’t know how this arc could be stretched that far, so I doubt it. It’s really hard to say where the series will go from here. All I can say is that I absolutely do NOT see Yona being on the throne by the end of the series. (Nor do I see Hak?? Idk where that common fan theory came from, but I don’t see it happening lol)

The only thing I do need to know is: WHERE IS IK-SOO???

Yona 187 Spoilers, Thoughts, Future Speculation & Wild Theories

Long-time, no-speculation! The last one I posted was back in... July ... ANYWAYS. A lot has happened since chapter 178, so I’m going to get into some general thoughts of this arc so far, and my speculation for what’s to come! SPOILER ALERT (obviously)!

HHB agreeing to this alliance, not only because Yona wants to protect them, but also because they all know Yoon wants to read ALL the books, my heart. His face when he got to see the library and started learning? GOLD, best, this arc is worth that alone

And I’ve been waiting for Yoon and Min-soo interaction for YEARSSS and we finally got it, I almost forgot that it was never actually stated Min-soo knew medical knowledge until this arc .... lol

Hak joining the army as a foot soldier is MY JAM

The OG OT3 feels are in full force this arc, and everything hurts (say what you want about this arc but it’s giving me some good angst, I can’t be mad)

Oh yeah, and Soo-won is sick, but I’ll get to why I’m not too worried about that further down

The Joo-doh content has been nIcE

ALSO THE SKETCHY SHADOW BODYGUARDS ARE BACK??? Theory further below!

OK OK so now what I think is in the future (or at least what I HOPE is in the future) and why I am not particularly worried about Soo-won:

I see Soo-won’s condition going one of two ways. Either 1) He’s being poisoned (by Min-soo?). It’s a bit of a further stretch but honestly I can see it happening. MIn-soo already feels guilty for his part in the Il assassination, and he specifically has mentioned poisons and medicines being 2 sides of the same coin. I WOULD think this is the answer if it wasn’t for, 2) Yoon will have a part in saving Soo-won. Senjusou was specifically brought up again this arc. This is not a coincidence and I think it’ll play a pivotal part in saving Soo-won.

So what am I hoping to see in the future?

Still hoping for answers about Il and the past as a whole. Il had his own secrets, and there was unrest that we don’t have background for. I’d like the holes to be filled.

Lili is around, whERE IS SHE? Lili, come help yo girl

I’m really looking forward to seeing more from Joo-doh. Ever since that chapter where we got some internal dialogue from him about hoping Yona was out there somewhere safe, I’ve been interested in Yona and Joo-doh’s interaction. Joo-doh is someone that has been around Yona nearly all her life, I want to see Kusanagi dig a bit deeper with them.

The sketchy shadow bodyguards?? What’s the reason for keeping their identity secret? At this point- with them being purposefully hidden- there’s a reason for it. GIVE IT TO ME! A theory: Min-soo felt REALLY scared this chapter about Yona finding out about Soo-Won’s condition. Very on-edge. I’m almost wondering if that’s what these sketchy bodyguards are for ... what if they’re taking out anyone who finds out the secret. And maybe when they first appeared was when this illness from Soo-won started up. What if the same thing happened with Soo-won’s mother and these guards are actually hers? Maybe these guards are poisoning him ohohoho we know that nobody but “his closest aides” know about his illness. Considering Keishuk nor Ju-doh knew about it, who would be closer than maybe these shadow body guards? Questions... and pure speculation!

Things I’m hoping for in the near future:

Mausoleum answers!!! Since Lili is at the castle, I’d love if her and Yona took a little walk down there

Zeno answers! He’s been keeping quiet about stuff he knows for too long, it’s time to spill

This will be the first time the dragons will be directly AT the castle. Knowing their powers are stronger the closer they are to the castle, I’m curious what effect this will have on them

Things I’m NOT hoping for:

Whatever terrible and ominous thing that Yona was foreboding at the end of this chapter, KEEP IT
