heart-shaped box
hi everybody! i'm back with posting stuff. i finished my final paper (i still need to make a presentation, but that's the easy part), this paper made me tired of writing, so I didn't post this before, sorry! and i'm having quite a week lol (just for example, one of the things that happened to me was that i had my scalp sutured!)
~1.2k words
from this post. a lots of fluff, A LOT, TOOTH ROTTING FLUFF. no use of pronouns. organs (heart). mentions of Law's backstory and light novel.
Tumblr media
Hey, Cora…
Law's slender fingers hovered over your chest with the same delicacy he would use to sheath the blade of his own sword with the thin blue layer of his ability. He kept it at a reasonable distance, as if trying to sense the vibration of your pulsating heart in the air. The only thing breaking the silence in the room was his breath, but your heartbeats raced into your eardrums, making the place sound louder than it should.
Both of you sat cross-legged, facing each other in a room separate from the rest of the… guests.
Law wanted it to be just you and him, no one else. You were outlaws, without the right to a traditional marriage, whatever was traditional for both of you; that's why he wanted to do it still in Wano, away from the eyes of the world.
The marriage that usually involved you, your partner, the Government, and God would this time be confined between the two of you. But you insisted; after all, you wanted to share this joy with your friends, and with Wano closed, there weren't many risks of this information leaking.
"Don't you think this happiness should be just between you and me?" Law lifted his hat and scratched his head, looking seriously at you.
"Don't you think we'll have other kinds of happiness that will be just between us?" With your response, he only hid his eyes behind the brim of his hat.
Law must have been worried about the possibility of the Straw Hat crew showing up and ruining everything. In the end, he agreed, but on the condition that the two of you had this moment alone.
You took his wrist with both hands and pulled his hand towards you, your fingers touching the kimono while his palm rested on your chest with hesitation.
"Law…"
"Are you sure?" He murmured and lifted his eyes from your chest to your face; that golden gaze was unwavering, covered with a layer of uncertainty, though. His fingers trembled, perhaps out of insecurity or the weakness of removing his own heart.
You didn't say anything, just pulled him into a kiss; your thumb stroked just below his eyes, the skin warming under your digits with each second you kept your lips pressed together. That was a perfect confirmation for him. When you separated, you smiled at him and turned your back to Law.
"You already took yours", he laughed lightly.
"Not as if it's difficult to put it back", he replied, and you looked at him over your shoulder. "Room."
Law tilted you slightly down; his arm was around your torso, and his open hand was on the upper part of your chest to hold you. You embraced his arm and took a deep breath, letting your body relax. "Are you ready?" He asked, the phalanges of his fingers stroking your back calmly; you nodded and closed your eyes.
"Mes", he whispered and tapped the bottom of his hand on your back, on the left side. You felt your body weaken before the light blue box fell from your chest; he was skillful in catching your heart with the hand that was on your back.
You gasped for air; Law sat you upright as your body adjusted. That, in the hands of your fiancé, beating faintly, was your heart, out of your chest, right in front of you. The idea was so absurd that you would refuse to believe it if you didn't know about Law's powers and hadn't seen them before.
You lowered your kimono and felt your chest; there was now an empty, square space, open; you felt like you could pass your hand through it, but you didn't want to test it due to the nauseating sensation of just feeling the hole.
"Are you okay?" He asked, placing a hand on your shoulder, his eyes once again staring at you with the same rigidity; your gaze fell to your heart in his hand. You just nodded.
Law nodded too and placed your heart on the small table next to you, right next to his, on top of a cloth. You sighed, watching the two hearts beating at different rhythms, slightly different in size, but still, two hearts.
They were fragile but valuable, pumping the blood that magically flowed through your veins, even outside your bodies; it was even a bit mesmerizing to watch them, but Law didn't seem very surprised, after all, he had seen at least a hundred of them.
Law gently picked up his own heart, placing it in the palm of his hand. He turned it as if he found the best position, something you didn't think would matter, but he was a perfectionist, so you didn't bother saying anything. Your mouth went dry when you swallowed, and he approached, his eyes on yours again, looking for any sign of hesitation to stop immediately.
"Ready?" He asked in a whisper, and you were so excited that you just nodded.
The man took a breath and exhaled with deliberate slowness, his hands approaching your chest carefully. The small light blue box holding the heart fit so perfectly into the hole in your chest that you wondered if that wasn't yours; he stopped halfway, looking at you.
You responded with a smile, enough to remind him that this was as symbolic as exchanging rings and could be undone as easily; but you still accepted his idea without even asking questions, without asking for a ring or laughing at his idea—a smile enough to remind him that you understood all the symbolism and importance of this and that you accepted who he was, no matter what. With that, he finished pushing the box into your chest, closing the hole and restoring the skin as magically as it was removed.
The sensation was strange; it was like having two hearts in the same place. You could still feel your own heart pounding frantically, while you also felt Law's heart inside the chest, beating against your ribs, settling against your lung, beating as rapidly as yours, not in the same rhythm, but in the same frequency.
"T-This is… funny", you said with a smile, your hand on the place where Law's heart now resided.
With trembling hands, you held the organ ripped from you, beating rapidly against its confinement; the small light blue capsule was somewhat gelatinous and a bit smooth, seemed very malleable, but at the same time resistant.
"Relax", Law whispered to you, the corners of his lips curving upwards gently. "Let me help you", he asked, adjusting the small box in your hands, turning it, pointing to the left side. "These are your right atrium and pulmonary artery, they should be turned to your left, so they will fit correctly", he pointed as he spoke, and you just nodded.
With the tips of his fingers under your hand, he guided you to the hole in his chest, where the box fit perfectly. When you looked at him, he was smiling, not the same smile he gave when he was boasting or teasing someone, it was a genuine smile of happiness, one that you saw a few times but loved every time.
You felt like crying when you fitted the box containing your heart in the place that would reside for the rest of your life, where you lived for so long, in the core of the person you loved the most. When the skin covered the hole in, now, your husband's chest, you felt as if you were receiving the most intimate hug you had ever received—and could never receive again.
You hugged him, feeling the warmth of your tears warming your face; Law also cried silently, but unlike the tears of cold nights, there was a warm feeling in his chest, maybe from the new location of his heart, but the joy you felt was genuine.
His head rested on your shoulder, you felt his heart gradually calming down in your chest as he enveloped you in a warm hug, pulling you into his lap.
Law could still feel the cold of that night, how the snowstorm blurred his vision, the sound of the lines cutting the ground, how humid that chest was. He felt like he had spent all the years that followed trapped in that memory, walking through the forest, crying desperately while looking for the nearest town. However, in recent times, the snowstorm seemed weaker.
Until he reached the nearest town, right when Doflamingo finally hit the ground. When he found himself comfortable in the bed of a kind stranger, he finally understood the reasons for his savior. And when he drank that warm soup after years of hunger, his heart was finally at home, protected by your ribs.
"Law…" you whispered. "I love you."
Your now husband (husband!) put his hands on your shoulders and pulled away from you a little, so you could see his face; there was a smile so wide that his eyes closed, and you could only smile back at the sight. "I love you."
… I'm home.

cooking!
Tumblr media
summary: the reader is learning how to cook, but no one likes it.
content: fluff (not exactly fluff, but is kinda cute), no pronouns used, reader is a devil fruit user
pairing: law x gn!reader
word count: 1.336
an: haro everynyan. I can finally write something, so i'm writing about my hushband, tell me if you like it, please. by the way, this akuma no mi power I thought for an OC of mine! I want to write something for her (maybe a one-shot or even a few chapters of a fanfic, I don't know), let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
Law left his office late at night. It was one of those days when he had spent too much time in his office, and his body was starting to crave even the slightest bit of attention. He walked into the kitchen, hoping there would be some leftovers from tonight's dinner; he could feel the pressure of the sea in his ears, making the place even quieter than it already was.
But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing; he appreciated these moments of silence, when all the crew members should already be asleep or quietly going about their activities. The clock and the silence were his only indications that night had arrived in a place where sunlight barely reached.
The silence was broken as he approached the kitchen; he could hear soft music playing and a sad humming. Light seeped out from under the door, indicating that someone was still outside the room.
With calm steps, he approached. Initially, his intention was to get something to eat, but now he wanted to find out who was singing. As he approached the door, Law could feel a gust of wind coming through the gaps. If he didn't know his crew, he would have been quite surprised when he opened the door and saw the plates floating in the air in an orderly synchronization. But he couldn't help but be enchanted by the way they moved through the kitchen, following a sequence to be cleaned, dried, and then put away.
"Hello, captain," you said, stopping your singing in tune with the music. He entered and closed the door behind him, containing the air flow that kept the plates in order, like a production line. He also noticed the little Den Den Mushi humming a melancholic tune.
"Y/N," he greeted you. You had the power to control the wind, which was quite useful in battles, especially due to your abilities and creativity in manipulating your power. But it was also useful in everyday situations like this, where you could simply wash the dishes while using your abilities to finish all the work.
"What are you doing up at this hour?" he asked with his usual formality. You had recently joined the crew and had never really talked to him before, and you thought you never would. He was always locked in his office, focusing on things other than wasting time talking to a newcomer on his ship.
"Just… washing the dishes," there was a strange tone in your voice, as if there was a lump in your throat preventing you from speaking. Law noticed it.
"Are you sure?" It was impressive how he could notice subtle things. You were sure that beneath his stoic nature, there was a person who was attentive to everything happening around him. You admired that about him. "You don't have to speak if you don't want to." He walked through the kitchen, carefully avoiding the floating dishes. His eyes searched for food, anything that could quiet the rumbling in his stomach.
That's when he found a shy tray with three cupcakes, hidden next to a gigantic pile of plates. They seemed to have been decorated by a child, with crooked icing and colorful star-shaped sprinkles.
Law found it adorable.
"C-Captain!" you said, finally finishing washing the huge pile of plates. "Don't eat those."
"Oh," he shared a glance between you and the tray. "Are they already reserved?"
You sighed with his innocence. "No. But I'm going to throw them away."
"Why?" He picked one up. "They look good." He could see that the icing was poorly mixed, so there were still parts that were white instead of being colored with dye. "Have you tasted them?" Normally, he wouldn't insist or even ask about such things, but he couldn't see a reason to throw away food.
"I made them," your voice had a hint of sadness, as if you had been crying before he arrived. "No one wanted to eat them because of that."
"Why?" he asked again, sounding like a child with so many questions. However, his expression was curious, as if he wanted to know why you sounded so frustrated.
"I-I…" you held both hands in front of you, trying to gather the courage to tell your captain, as if you were ready to reveal a secret. "I'm trying to learn how to cook."
He raised an eyebrow, expecting you to continue your story, although he already had an idea of where it was going.
"When we saw the Straw Hats… I was impressed by Sanji's cooking skills," he raised his eyebrows at the mention of the cook. "It reminded me of an old desire to cook when I was younger. I loved cooking with my mother, but I didn't really do much myself." Law listened attentively to your story as he looked at the cupcake in his hand.
"I asked him to teach me a few things, but he could only teach me how to cook rice properly and make onigiri," Law looked up at you, his expression always calm. You sighed before continuing. "So, I tried to continue without his help, using a recipe book I bought on an island. And apparently, I'm terrible at cooking!" Law hid his look of pity.
"No one wants to try what I make because apparently everything turns out bad!" Law saw some frustrated tears rolling down your face. "This fucking cupcake didn't turn out bad! I tasted it! But no one wanted to even try it."
You watched Law delicately peel off the cupcake wrapper and then take a bite of the cake. A bit of icing stuck to his nose without him noticing. You found it adorable.
The cupcake wasn't anything special; in fact, it looked like just another regular cupcake, but it was tasty enough for him to want another one. He couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want to eat it.
"This is good, Y/N-ya," you sighed in relief, afraid that he would also complain. If he did, you would probably throw yourself into the sea at the first opportunity. "I don't understand why they refused."
You smiled, wondering if he was just being kind or if he genuinely meant it. You didn't know him intimately, but Law didn't seem like the type of person who would lie just to please someone. You thanked him with a heavy heart, deciding not to irritate him with such a question.
"Can I have another one?" he asked after finishing the one he had taken. You nodded, and he headed back to the tray. "You know, I can cook too," he commented, and you looked at him in surprise.
"I usually don't have much time for it," he sighed, taking another bite of the cupcake and once again smearing the tip of his nose. "But I cook sometimes for the crew, and sometimes for myself when everyone is asleep."
It was strange to see him like this, his tall figure slightly hunched over and his disheveled hair without the hat. He was wearing casual clothes and talking about mundane things like cooking, which contrasted with the serious and calculating figure he imposed on himself. "If you want, I can teach you what little I know," you returned his gaze to his eyes, wondering if you had heard correctly. "Apparently, we have some spare time until the next island."
"S-Sorry?" you asked as if your ears had deceived you.
"Um…" for some reason, his cheeks were tinged with a light blush. "I said I can teach you what little I know, you know… about cooking?" He seemed embarrassed now.
"Oh, I would love that!" you accepted, with a gleam of excitement in your eyes. Law looked at you as if he was melting in your eyes.
You approached him, carefully wiping the icing off the tip of his nose. "It was dirty." You saw the man blush so intensely that it looked like he was going to change color at any moment. "Thank you, Captain," you smiled sweetly.
Law's face turned bright red, seeing how lovely you looked when you smiled. He began to regret it, mentally wondering if he could handle seeing such a kind smile from you frequently.

happy birthday law!! this fucking nerd lives so freely in my head that sometimes I consider him to be real. i am so normal about him. and i'm not crying, stop!!!
pure fluff! with some emotional lines, gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
"Hey, Law?" You called him in the darkness of the kitchen, the poor man had just wanted to get some water and ended up bumping into you in the kitchen.
Before he could even wonder what the hell you were doing in the dark kitchen in the middle of the night, you continued, "Happy birthday."
Birthdays were still strange for Law.
The concept of people around you simply turning to celebrate that you were alive on one day of the year, if you were happy someone was alive, that celebration should be done every day of the year, not just one.
However, he still held the memories of his past birthdays.
The first one he remembered was a surprise birthday his parents had thrown for him. He didn't remember much, but he remembered finding it strange that neither his father nor mother were there to explain some facts about the human body as they always did; they spent the whole day very busy. His friends also seemed a bit strange, as if they were playing something Law wasn't invited to.
But he distinctly remembered coming home later that afternoon and being startled by everyone shouting "surprise!" and starting to sing "happy birthday." He also remembered that at the end of the party, everyone had yellow icing on their faces, even little Lami, who couldn't barely even walk on her own.
The few birthdays he celebrated with the Donquixote Family were actually quite fun. Despite his insistence that he didn't want to celebrate, there was always a big cake in the center of the table with some candles that never matched his age, but you could tell they were at least trying.
Baby 5 and Buffalo always tried to shove his face in the cake, but he always managed to dodge and put their faces in it instead. Somehow, even after the candle was blown out, Corazón still managed to set himself on fire.
Luckily, Law still managed to celebrate one more birthday with Cora-san. During their travels from hospital to hospital, the day Cora had marked on his little calendar finally came, although he had been keeping the date in his head for the past month. The man asked Law to continue without him to the same place where they were sheltered, saying he would arrive soon.
"Hey, Law?" Rosinante called the boy when he finally caught up to him, turning to find the man holding a piece of cake. "Happy birthday!" Cora held a broad smile on his lips.
Little Law thought he would never forget that scene.
The other birthdays were a bit more difficult, just mentioning them made Law shrink and try to change the subject, but eventually, small bargains were made, and the aspiring doctor finally decided he wanted to celebrate his birthday. This was in his last year living with Wolf, it wasn't planned, but he was glad to be able to celebrate his last birthday with the old man.
They celebrated at a small restaurant in Pleasure Town so that the people who lived in the town could also be present. For the first time since Flevance, Law received some gifts: a lab coat with his name embroidered on it, a stethoscope, and some last chapters of "Sora, the Warrior of the Sea", which he couldn't read.
Birthdays in the first years aboard the Polar Tang were more limited, but they were still fun, even if Law didn't always want to celebrate. It was funny to see them try to put together a surprise, but Bepo always ruined it.
It was also funny to see the looks on everyone's faces when Law ordered them to clean up the dining room after the mess they made with the confetti.
However, this year the surprise was in your hands. Luckily, Law was already leaving the office before you could send someone to fetch him; Uni had alerted you through a mini Den Den Mushi, you had left him to watch if Law would leave the room before you prepared everything.
You called him before he could enter the kitchen, making him startle a bit. You approached him before he turned on the lights, with your hands behind your back and the gentlest smile you could muster. "Happy birthday," and the lights were turned on, everyone shouted "surprise" and started singing "happy birthday."
Law stood frozen in place as they sang, his lips parted and his eyes wide. The way you wished him a happy birthday and the way they managed, for the first time, to pull off a successful surprise birthday party, it all reminded him of the past. Shachi and Penguin tried to shove his face in the cake, but a "Room, Shambles!" was enough to leave the cake untouched on the table and Shachi in his place while Penguin burst one of the balloons in his friend's face.
Even in the middle of the night, everyone was there, celebrating the life of their captain, even after spending the entire year showing their gratitude for his presence. Bepo gifted him with a big bear hug, rubbing his cheek against Law's face and wishing him a happy birthday in the way his own people had taught him.
"Captain! Who's the first piece of cake for?" Ikkaku asked. Everyone had their own speculations. Some bet it was for you, others said it was for Bepo, and there were even bolder ones who claimed he would give the piece to themselves.
Law thought for a moment; he wanted to dedicate his piece of cake to a special person, the one who helped him become who he was today. The idea tugged at his heart a little.
"I... Um..." He looked at the piece in his hand and then at the crew in front of him, all smiling, eager for his answer. Law placed the piece further down on the table, in front of everyone. "For all of you..." He murmured, looking away, trying to hide his reddening cheeks.
"CAAAPTAAAAIN!!" There was an emotional chorus, and everyone tried to approach to hug him, but he pleaded desperately for them not to do it.
Law received an expensive (and stolen) stethoscope, as his old one was too worn. He also got some early chapters of "Sora, the Warrior of the Sea" a bit used and with yellowed pages, but from an old collector's edition. He wondered if he would ever receive a lab coat.
Nostalgically, he also wondered if Cora-san would be there to set himself on fire even after the candles were blown out.
Law hugged you tightly some time later and rested his forehead on your shoulder; you simply accepted the embrace, moving your hand to the back of his neck. It was only when he whispered a "thank you" against your skin that you realized he was crying.
He was a discreet man. You just let him cry on your shoulder without saying anything, running your hands over his waist, letting him cry as much as he wanted. You knew his tears weren't of sadness, especially after what he had confessed to you a few days ago.
"I think I'm finally doing what Cora-san wanted me to do", he commented, lifting his eyes from the stack of papers and books on his desk to look at you. "He wanted me to live..." You smiled patiently, reaching him with slow steps.
You took off his hat, running your hand through his hair, pushing the strands that fell on his face back. "Cora-san certainly loved you", you said. "Besides living, I believe he would want you to be happy", Law hugged your waist, pressing his face into your belly. "Are you doing what he wanted?"
He fell silent, thinking of an answer. Now, once again, embraced by you as he hid his face in your neck, Law finally found his answer.

there is a culture here in brazil where you give the first piece of your cake to someone special, only when I discovered that this only happens here, I realized how cute it is.

those wano fights are so good, but I don't want to "finish" one piece, aaaahhhh
496 words.
wano spoilers, no pronouns used, fluff, mentions of violence.
Tumblr media
"If both of us make it out of this alive... I want you to marry me", you said. Your back against the ship's railing, your nails digging into the white wood as you bit your lip. Law felt the air catch in his throat, turning his face to you with impressive speed.
Onigashima was already on the horizon, the skull's lights illuminating you and your hair blowing in the rebellious sea breeze. Everyone on the deck stared at you, but you didn't care. Nothing else mattered. That was all you needed to say at that moment, just your purest feelings.
Trafalgar tightened the hilt of his sword, the red cord gently brushing against his flushed cheek. He wanted to say many things, to say he would marry you right then and there if necessary, but at the same time, how you didn't need to get married because his feelings transcended human conceptions of defining a relationship, how he wished he had made this proposal first, how he wouldn't let anything bad happen to you.
"We won't die", you smiled upon hearing your lover's words. Maybe no one around you understood why he was so cold, but you did, and that was all that mattered.
Then that blinding light came towards you, and all you felt was pain. At the top of the island, your body lay on the ground after an exhaustive attempt to protect Luffy. Slowly, your senses returned, your adrenaline rush fading and reminding you of all your wounds bleeding on the rocks.
Zoro lay right in front of you, his body motionless except for his chest rising and falling erratically. You turned your body with difficulty, something unraveled loudly in the direction of where the attack came from. You could feel the waves of Haki coursing through the place with a dangerously palpable sensation, returning the pain that resided in your bones.
When you finally managed to lie on your back, you saw Law kneeling right by your side. The light from the battle reflected on his skin, traveling inside his golden irises like liquid gold, surprised by the capabilities of your savior. His split lips mumbled something, too distracted to notice you were awake next to him.
You moved your hand to touch him, your pained groan snapped him out of his trance. His large tattooed hands grabbed yours, gently bringing them to his mouth, where he kissed each of your fingers with his dry and cracked lips.
"As soon as these two fall, you and I will become one, do you understand me?", there was urgency in his voice to assure you of this because he truly believed it. You understood why, especially when Luffy's voice became clearer in your ears.
"As soon as we get out of this, I'm going to marry you", you were surprised, but you didn't even have time to give a response as Law picked you up in his arms and rushed to help Zoro.
He didn't need a response, especially when he was so sure.

late night ride! [with Law]
Tumblr media
summary: just... a late night ride with law.
playlist: youtube
content: tooth rotting fluff, no pronouns used, law is driving (be careful)
pairing: law x gn!reader
word count: 545
an: I'm trying to work up the courage to post some smuts I have here. I've been posting content anonymously on the internet for a while now but for some reason when it comes to *cough cough* smut *cough cough* I start blushing and shy. btw, i've made a playlist for this one, you can see it above. It's kinda emo, I'll understand if not everyone likes it, but it's how I imagine the music Law listens to.
Tumblr media
Riding in the car late at night with Law can be a unique situation;
He may not admit it, but that is one of the happiest moments he has had in a long time. There's something about that moment that is entirely intimate and romantic, and he never wants it to end;
If he's driving, his hand will be on your thigh the whole time, occasionally making small circles with his thumb. You blatantly admire him, watching his cheeks warm up when he notices your gaze;
If you're driving, he'll be sitting comfortably, pretending to pay attention to the road while actually admiring you, with a heavy heart in his chest, wondering how he managed to win someone like you;
Either way, you'll have to listen to his playlist, filled with melodramatic and emo songs, which isn't bad because you're having a great time with him;
The conversation between the two of you arises eventually. You both laugh at inside jokes, share moments of intimacy where each one shows their most vulnerable self to the partner they love so much. But when the conversation dies down, leaving only melancholic music and the sound of the AC, you don't feel the need to say anything more;
Law feels his body warmed by the tranquility of your love as the car cuts through the silence of the nighttime streets;
It's in those moments that you see the real Law, the Law who doesn't wear a mask, always tough and serious. You see him truly, the Law you fell in love with, the Law who holds your cold hand because of the AC, who smiles before leaning in and kissing you at traffic lights.
"Hey, Law," you call out, sitting sideways, your body and head resting against the seat, observing his focused figure.
"Hm, yes?" You had noticed this before; he always pursed his lips when he was concentrating, but today it seemed even more adorable than usual.
He was casual, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and his usual jeans. The tattoos were visible on his arms and hands, while the V-neck of his shirt revealed a small part of the tattoo on his chest. You took a moment, observing his features.
Until he quickly turned to you; you had been silent, watching him for some time, deciding whether you should say what you wanted to say. Such moments between you were rare, so you couldn't miss the chance.
"I love you," your voice didn't come out louder than a whisper.
You saw him pause, as if he was shocked. He knew you loved him; you had already demonstrated that many times. You shouted it with every movement, every word, every look directed at him. But spoken? There were very few times those words had left your lips and hit his heart like a venomous arrow.
Your words were delicate, loving, comforting, warm. Law held onto them in his ears for a while, breathing as little as possible, trying not to inhale the air that came out of your mouth with that sentence. He counted the beats of his heart, "1, 2, 3..." wondering if he hadn't flipped the car and was now listening to an angel speak.
"Law?" you spoke, clearing the last words from the air so tenderly that he didn't mind. "Love, don't crash the car," you laughed.
Tumblr media
He's a little dramatic.

hurt! [law]
Tumblr media
summary: "@makemake22: how about s/o who attending Law injuries? Like, he basically attending all his crew injuries, but he haven't because he doesn't wanna make his crew worried. And suddenly his s/o noticed that."
content: fluff, no pronouns used, basically the summary
pairing: law x gn!reader
word count: 1045
an: hey, this is my first request! I'm kinda nervous ngl.
Tumblr media
One of the things you always admired about Law was his ability to sense danger. It had saved the crew several times before, and this time would be no different - if only you had listened.
You had disembarked on a small commercial island, which seemed as peaceful as the dozens of others you had stopped at. Law asked to the crew not to separate, not to wander randomly around the island or cause trouble, but all he received in response was the crew splitting up into small groups and wandering around.
You saw that man falling apart. He sighed loudly and grumbled because no one listened to him; all you could do for him was to stroke his back, tell him that everything would be fine, and that the Log Pose would soon register the island.
You couldn't have been more wrong.
In a matter of hours, you had seen most of the crew lying on the ground, while you forced yourself to fight. The island was under the control of a mafia boss who was not happy to see pirates walking its streets, even though you were just buying a few things and hadn't posed a threat to anyone.
He had managed to take down most of you, targeting the weakest first out of cowardice. Some others were more resilient, like you, who fought until the end. But something else worried you besides your nakamas: You hadn't seen Law for some time, and your heart feared the worst as you stood your ground, landing as many hits as you could before your body gave up on you.
Your lungs burned, and you could hear Bepo shouting your name as you knelt, your vision growing darker. As much as you pushed yourself up, your body didn't respond, but you allowed yourself to truly fall when a thin layer of blue light grew around the place, creating a dome around everyone.
You could see the concern on Law's face, desperate for arriving too late, and from that moment on, everything became a blur. Law switched places with you when he saw you about to be attacked, and the next things you saw were blood, the gleam of a blade, and then swift footsteps.
You opened your eyes some time later, being carried. "Don't move," someone warned, but you didn't want to listen.
You were disoriented as fuck.
"Where's Law?!" you heard your heart pounding in your ears.
"I'm here," he said, standing by your side. "Don't move."
Then you closed your eyes.
When you opened them again, you could see that you were back on the Polar Tang, your companions all awake, some lying down like you, others trying to help those who were more injured. They all seemed concerned about each other. You saw Law among them, bandaging Shachi's injured arm. You tried to sit up, but a weight on your chest stopped you.
You looked to the side and saw Bepo sitting, as if he was watching you. "Law asked me to keep you lying down," the bear said.
You gave him a worried look. You had seen blood, he had been hurt, and you wanted to go to him and take care of his injuries as he was doing for all of you. Law came towards you when he saw that you had finally woken up. He dismissed Bepo before sitting by your side.
"Law, you're hurt," you said, concerned. Bepo hadn't even moved away from you when you exclaimed.
"I didn't get hurt, Y/N. I'm fine," he responded promptly.
"C-Captain, are you okay?!" Bepo seemed desperate.
"I already told you, I'm fine! Don't worry about me."
Just as you admired Law's ability to sense danger, he admired your ability to perceive lies, especially his lies. That's why he looked at you, as if pleading for mercy when he said he wasn't hurt.
It was like a silent conversation. You realized that he didn't want to worry anyone else; he just wanted to make sure that everyone in the crew was okay. You nodded, closing your eyes. He knew he couldn't deceive you; he only asked that no one else worry about him.
He didn't escape your notice once everyone's spirits had calmed down.
A little while later, as everyone gathered to eat, you were pushing him into the infirmary and taking off his shirt. He had hidden the cuts with his coat because he knew they were quite visible.
You saw a huge gash on his back, starting from the shoulder and stopping around the middle of his back, dried blood on his skin, and the wound looked irritated from the friction of the coat.
"Tsk," you began to grumble. "You always take care of others but don't want anyone to take care of you," you complained as you cleaned the blood that had trickled down. His skin was warm.
"I wonder how you would have dealt with this if I wasn't here!" You gently began to clean the wound, and Law winced in pain with each touch. "Would you have asked Bepo for help?!" After spending time by his side, you had learned a few things about first aid. Your favorite part was suturing, but it wasn't as nice to do it on your lover's back.
You sutured the wound so delicately that it seemed more like a caress than a needle stitching his skin. You complained about Law's stubbornness and how he didn't want others to worry about him when he was visibly very injured.
"Raise your arms," you demanded as you wrapped bandages around him. He found it funny how irritated you seemed but at the same time took care of him so lovingly.
Law looked at you with great affection as you tended to the other injuries on his body. Cleaning and bandaging them all with great care, while giving him a good scolding about not hiding these things.
"Well, I don't know how I would have dealt with this if you weren't here," he finally said. "But I can only thank you for being so caring with me." He hugged you suddenly.
As he was sitting on the exam table, his face pressed against your chest. Your hands ran up to his neck, where you caressed him with your thumb. "Never do that again, Law. We all care about you," silence. "I care about you."
You kissed the top of his head. For some reason, your anger disappeared.

I wrote this a LONG time ago, I hadn't even arrived in Wano lol, but I found it in my drafts, i forgot how much I liked it. btw, thanks for the 50 followers! <3
692 words.
wano arc, reader have scars, some hate towards reader, gn!reader, use of 'y/n', fluff, shachi and penguin teasing each other like Roomates™️
Tumblr media
It was the end of their first day in the country of Wano after they had separated from the main group. Kin'emon instructed them to explore the country, gather information, and find temporary accommodations while Luffy didn't arrive in Wano.
Penguin, Bepo, and Shachi returned first, while Law was already at home. In a way, it reminded them of their days living with Wolf on Swallow Island and how they used to race each other back to the city from home.
You returned home shortly after, with a frustrated expression but a bag full of groceries. "Um... Prepare dinner, but don't let Law or Bepo cook. It was hard enough to get this food", you said, sounding a bit rude, but your voice had a sad tone. "I'm sorry", Bepo said, lowering his head.
Law was lying on the floor, a book covering his face, but he was still awake and didn't want to say anything. "I... Let me know when it's ready, okay? I have a headache", you said, walking to one of the rooms. Law couldn't help but notice the tone in your voice.
The sound of the shōji sliding door echoed softly before you entered the room and closed it. Shachi and Penguin seemed a bit confused by the Irori, but they quickly started preparing the food. Law got up shortly after, entering the room in silence.
An akiandon softly illuminated the place; the futons were still folded, and you were sitting on the tatami, facing away from the entrance, in silence, the upper part of your kimono hanging at your waist. Law closed the door behind him and walked to sit behind you.
"What happened?" He asked, observing your bare back. His voice was low, so only you could hear.
You ran your slender fingers over your body, tracing your scars. Law kept his arms crossed behind you, curious about what might have happened.
"I tried to become a geisha apprentice, but..." your breath caught in your throat. "I-I'm not... clean enough", Law furrowed his brows. Clean?
"What do you mean?" Law didn't want to believe this. His heart pounded with anger.
"See for yourself", you whispered, your back and arms marked with dozens of scars, a long white line running from your neck to your shoulder adorned the body that Law had always admired so much. "They told me that someone like me couldn't become a geisha; I should be more beautiful for that."
Law opened his mouth to respond, but you cut him off. "I did manage to get something at least; I can make some blades for the blacksmith. It's not much, but it's enough to buy food for us; we don't need more than that", you tried, for some reason, to justify yourself.
"Y/N-ya", Law called you, his mouth so close to the nape of your neck made you shiver. "Please, don't be sad about this", his voice never failed to surprise you. "Wano doesn't know what true beauty is if they think that of you."
Law's tattooed fingers trailed down your arm to your hand, where he intertwined his fingers and stretched your arm to the side. "All these scars tell your story, and there's nothing more beautiful than that," he traced a line of kisses along your arm and returned, moving back up to your neck.
With his other hand, Law gently held your jaw to turn your face to the side; this way, he could kiss the scar on your face, where he lingered a little longer.
"Screw them and their stupid idea of 'cleanliness,' you're perfect just the way you are", he finally said, placing a chaste kiss on your shoulder.
Outside, the other three watched in silence as the soft shadows of you and Law played out like a shadow play, slightly dimmed by the akiandon light that illuminated this area of the house. Bepo turned away, his cheeks red; Shachi and Penguin had smiles on their faces.
"I'm glad Law found Y/N; he even smiles more now", Shachi said, looking at the rice cooking over the fire.
"Oh man, I just wish I could find someone for myself too", Penguin commented, sounding sad.
"You'll never find anyone looking this ugly, idiot", Shachi teased him, laughing loudly.

why'd you have to f*cking disappear?!

an: hey guys this is the first time i'm posting something i've written here so i have to ask how the fuck does everyone have such nice fonts in their presentation and shit? i want to make my posts beautiful too
Tumblr media
You've always loved Luffy. From the moment you joined the crew, you knew you'd love him. But lately, there was something hovering between you two, something you didn't understand. It felt like a dense gray cloud between you, causing a heavy fog, and you couldn't find it anywhere.
And when you understood what it was, you believed you didn't love him anymore.
In fact, you did love him - you loved his charcoal hair, his straw hat that gave the crew its name, his way of laughing and joking about everything he could, how he always cared for everyone in the crew, especially for you. But you didn't know if you still wanted to be with him.
Luffy had saved you many times, just as you had done the same for him. You had experienced so many moments together, shared so many secrets. So why didn't you feel the same way as before? You wanted to love him so badly! You wanted to be by his side when he became the Pirate King, to help him in every way you could find.
But when Luffy looked into your eyes, you felt nothing. It was as if all the love you felt had disappeared.
You looked in the mirror many times, searching for the love that was inside you, and asked yourself, "Why did you have to fucking disappear?"
Luffy noticed your coldness, the way you would move away when he tried to get closer, how you wouldn't look at him anymore, and he especially noticed your sadness.
"Y/N! I...", he tried to talk to you once, while you were on a trip between islands. "I'm busy, Luffy, can it wait?", you tried to make time, trying to make the feeling come back, while repeating, "Please come back," like a mantra.
How could you love someone you avoided talking to for days? How foolish.
You didn't want to realize that it also affected Luffy. The same Luffy who seemed too foolish to care about such things was now lost in his own head all the time.
"You need to talk to him," Chopper told you once, and you knew he was right, so why did you avoid him?
Luffy, on the same day, found you on the ship's deck, watching the sunset alone, humming a song. Then, when you looked into his eyes, you realized why you avoided him.
It was fear of telling him what happened.
"Y/N...," he lowered his head and held his hat in his hands. "Did I do something?" You swallowed hard. Seeing Luffy like that broke your heart into hundreds, thousands, millions of pieces. You had no other reaction than to hug him.
He hid his face in your shoulder and neck and remained silent for a while, but you knew he was very hurt. You didn't have the courage to say anything, to say that it wasn't his fault but yours, you couldn't say that you didn't love him anymore.
"Please, say something," he pleaded with the muffled voice of your hug.
"Luffy, I..." You swallowed hard again, and he squeezed you tighter. "You didn't do anything," you took a deep breath not to cry, but the tears inevitably came.
"I think..." it was difficult to talk with all that weight on your heart. "I think I don't like you the same way I did before," Luffy was frozen in your embrace, silent for some time. You wanted to be able to read his thoughts, to be able to control your own feelings, to go back in time and never have met them, anything to ease the captain's feelings wrapped in your arms."Why didn't you say it earlier?" he asked, raising his head. There was a trembling smile on his face. "I-I can't make you like me again, can I?", your hands were still on his arms, your thumbs shaking as you listened. "You're still my partner, no matter what happens."
"Luffy..."
"It's okay, Y/N!" he stood up, gently removing your hands from his arms. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm okay." You wanted to say a thousand more things, but nothing would be enough to fill the hole in his chest. You thought it was best to stay quiet.
Luffy turned, heading towards the kitchen, but stopped halfway and came back.
"Can I give you one last hug?", he asked, and you nodded in agreement.
You stood up and hugged him, tears streaming from your eyes like waterfalls. Luffy held you for a few minutes. When you stopped crying and dried your face, another question was asked:
"One last kiss?".
"No. It's better not to".

snow! [mugiwaras]
Tumblr media
summary: just a snowy morning with the mugiwara crew.
content: platonic fluff, no pronouns used, snowy day with your friends, you never seen the snow.
pairing: none, just reader in the mugiwara crew.
word count: 421
an: I had a dream like that a few days ago.
Tumblr media
You woke up that morning to an excited commotion coming from outside the room. Even though you were already wearing thicker clothes, it was colder than you remembered, and the temptation to stay under the covers was strong. But hearing Luffy and Chopper yelling so loudly and cheerfully outside piqued your curiosity.
"What's all this?!" you asked as you opened the door, and as soon as you stepped outside, something cold tickled your nose.
It didn't take long for you to see the ship covered in a thin layer of pristine white snow falling gently. Luffy and Chopper were playing like children in the Sunny deck, and Usopp was carefully sculpting something in the snow. "It's… snowing!" you said, extending your hands to let the flakes fall softly into your palms.
"It's amazing," Zoro said, appearing right behind you. "What do you think? Isn't your first time seeing snow?"
"Oh, you remembered!" you exclaimed, not expecting him to remember that. "I think it's incredible."
"Come eat! Breakfast is ready!" Sanji came out to call everyone. "Look, you're awake," he had a dish towel draped over his shoulder. "It's not every day we see snow around here," he said, leaning against the railing.
Luffy was laughing so excitedly that he didn't even hear Sanji calling, which was impressive considering that the captain's ears were usually tuned to such calls.
"Breakfast!" Sanji called again, and this time he definitely heard it because he immediately stopped running and laughing, then stretched his arms over the railing and pulled himself up to join you.
"Food! Finally!" he shouted, excitedly. "Oh, hi! You're awake!" Luffy exclaimed upon seeing you. "See all this snow? We're going to have a snowball fight!"
"I'm going to make a SUPERRR snowball," Franky commented, emerging from the hatch that led to the lower deck of the ship.
"Don't drag me into this, I want to take a nap," Zoro said, with his usual scowl.
"Luffy-san, it will be chaos with so many people…" Brook commented. "Brrrr, it's so cold I can't even feel the tips of my fingers."
"But you don't have skin to feel your fingers," Robin commented, chuckling softly as she passed by the skeleton. Brook seemed mortified that someone stole his joke.
"We can just split into teams," you suggested as you brought your hands closer and rubbed them together, trying to warm them up.
"See! There's always a way to make it work," Luffy agreed as he headed towards the kitchen, laughing.
"That guy is crazy," Sanji said, with a cigarette between his lips. "Anyway, let's eat."
"R-Robin-saaan..." Brook was silently crying.
"Let's go already, perverted skeleton," Nami shouted at Brook.

reader loves law… a little too much. and I am kinda sick for him.
208 words.
religious themes, worshiping as a god, suggestive, no pronouns used. mdni!
Tumblr media
Beyond all the affection, fondness, and love you felt for Law, you felt the desire to worship him.
Trafalgar D. Water Law, with the power of a demon, became a God through the lenses of your apologetic mind.
Tumblr media
All the life he brought with him on his fingers also carried sin, in the sighs, in the secret touches. Every night with him was a ritual in which you surrendered completely so you could receive his divine blessing; his liturgies always well-received by you.
Law, Trafalgar, Captain, Surgeon of Death, all these titles meant nothing to you when you were lost amidst his so soft sheets, calling out names that only the two of you would know, while diving into his power to exalt you as much as you did with him.
His touch was as calm as the silence before an explosion, it was also venomous, intoxicating like an instant effect drug. But you enjoyed the hangover lying by his side, as the tips of his fingers lazily traced your curves before diving into your lips, only to return to your body and touch you in places that only he could even come close to reaching.
And at the end of his sacrament, you would rest in peace in the arms of your protector.

02. THE BEAR
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
'Wolf brought another strange kid home' masterlist.
I just found out that tumblr let me do this thing with photos.
'ossan' means 'old man'.
based on Law's light novel, memory loss, 1st person pov.
Tumblr media
Law brought another strange kid home.
Actually, it wasn't a kid, but rather a bear. It was a bear! White, big, furry, walking on two legs, and talking. And apologizing. Damn Law laughed when I stumbled backward and fell sitting in the snow, with my eyes wide open, focused on the bear entering the yard while tapping the fingers of both hands shyly.
Despite his heavy fur, the bear wore warm clothes and a scarf stained with blood.
"L-L-Law...!" I choked, my eyes darting quickly between the boy and the bear.
"This is Bepo", he said, the bear... Bepo waved at me, I swallowed hard and waved back. I felt less scared after he showed a sad expression; in fact, Bepo didn't seem threatening at all, despite his sharp teeth and large claws, he seemed more loving than violent.
I wondered what it would be like to hug him. "H-How did you find him?!" I asked when I regained my breath, slowly getting up and brushing the snow off my clothes.
"He was lost in the forest", he replied, shrugging, as if he had found a cool stick or something. "Anyway... Has Wolf arrived yet? I want to talk to him", I nodded, and before I could say anything else, they both climbed the stone stairs to the house's entrance.
I grunted in frustration and got up, brushing the snow off my clothes, continuing to try to clear the snow from the path to the house entrance. "Honestly..." I began to complain to myself. "The one time he goes for a walk alone, and he comes back with a bear! Wolf will kill me for letting something like this happen..."
The two of us always walked through the forest when Wolf went to town or locked himself in his... "office" and we had nothing else to do. Law seemed to enjoy his walks, and I accompanied him to make sure he wouldn't get lost in the narrow paths among the snowy branches and bushes. After a while, he already knew the way, but it had become part of my routine, and I enjoyed picking up rocks along the way.
We didn't necessarily talk; he often seemed lost in his thoughts, and I wouldn't bother him, although, on some rare occasions, Law would tell me something about his past. Other times, we talked about Sora, a comic that I occasionally read in the newspaper, but he seemed to like it a lot, and in those moments, he seemed less serious. He also confessed to me last night that he didn't mind me going with him; he tried to keep an indifferent tone in his voice, but I could tell he enjoyed walking with me.
For the first time, I got a glimpse of what having a friend could be like, so I didn't tease him about it. I tried, in some way, to remember if I had friends before coming here, if they were worried about me or looking for me, but no memories came to me; since no letter ever came to my door, the closest thing to a friend I had was Law, and maybe Wolf.
The realization made me so excited that I ended up staying in bed the next day, with a slight fever that subsided shortly before lunch. I decided to do the tasks I needed to do that day after I managed to get up.
Law stopped just at the bottom of the stairs in front of me as I tried to figure out the contraption that Wolf had made to clear the snow. He had his hands in his coat pockets, trying to wear the same expression as last night, one of not caring.
"I can't go with you today, Law", I said, my fingers probing the surface of that thing. "This fucking Snow-whatever-it-is doesn't want to work! And I have to clear this snow soon."
He just mumbled and walked away slowly. Wolf arrived after some time; I was already sweaty, and the shovel was hurting my hand the way I was holding it. "What's wrong with the Snowstorm-Nator-3000?" I almost cursed him for the ridiculous ass name, and in the end, the damn Snowstorm-Whatever-3000 was just a salt spreader.
And then Law came back. I was almost at the end of the path when he appeared with the bear, the same way he used to go. I continued to clear the path when they entered the house.
"... WHAT IN GODDAMN THE HELL IS THIS GIANT BEAR?!" I heard Wolf shout from inside the room, the open front door worked in my favor. I couldn't hear what Law said, but I assumed he was inviting Bepo to live with us when I heard the ossan say, "Did you even think to ask the owner of the house for permission?!"
I felt somewhat nervous when I saw Bepo react like a person; that meant there was someone else in the house... Someone else to interact with. My heart raced with the idea; I had just gotten used to Law's presence and could talk to him without fear, but now another one! I didn't know if I could adapt to the change so quickly.
"HE CAN TALK!!!" Wolf's yell snapped me back to reality, and I realized I had cleared more snow than necessary.
I put the shovel in the back of the house, in the small tool shed, and entered the house through the back door, took off my snowy and dirty shoes and left them in the corner. I wanted to go back to my room, lie down, and rest for a bit, as I was starting to feel fatigued again; however, I would have to pass through the living room and face Bepo; I could just run, but that would attract too much attention.
I leaned against one of the plastic boxes and climbed onto the counter, settling in the same spot as always, a free space that we always used. It was right in the corner, at the junction of two walls, just below the ossan's mug collection. It was small, but it was enough for me if I curled up.
I leaned my head against the wall, listening to their conversation in the living room; the day seemed colder than usual, I pulled up the collar of my sweater to warm my face as I thought about what to do. I listened to them talking, the sound of their voices muffled by the walls, Law talked about how he found Bepo, and then the bear began to talk about how he ended up here, his brother, his family, and where he came from.
An island on the back of an elephant that never stopped walking on the waters of the New World, in the Grand Line, a tribe of minks, everything sounded like a fairy tale, his voice for some reason sounded like a lullaby, which made me increasingly sleepy until I fell asleep with my head resting on a recipe for soup that Wolf had framed.
I didn't wake up when Wolf came into the kitchen to make tea; he also didn't make much effort to wake me up, probably thinking it was just a side effect of my exhaustion after clearing the snow from the house entrance alone.
It was only when he returned to the kitchen a few minutes later, grumbling and muttering about how his life was nothing more than brats after Law invited Bepo to stay at the house, that he noticed I hadn't even moved. When he approached me to wake me up, he noticed that my cheeks were red under the collar of my sweater, and my forehead was burning.
I only woke up later that day, feeling fatigued, with Law and Bepo sitting on the floor of my room. The aspiring doctor offered me some medicine and had Bepo fetch a bottle of water for me when he noticed that I was tense in the presence of the bear.

there really isn't a point, I just wanted to write about a band and put the reader as the drummer (because I'm addicted to drummers). It ended up becoming a slice of life without much purpose, I even thought about writing more, but I didn't feel like I could get anywhere. and I based it on some posts, mainly in @/attyattlaw's band au!! if you want to see: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
5361 words.
slice of life, fluff, band au, pre-timeskip and occ law, complaining about one night stands, slightly zoro x reader, slightly friends to lovers (i'm a sucker for this) friends sleeping together, everyone is of legal age, suggestive language, there's no explict sexual content but it is mentioned a lot. mdni.
Tumblr media
A thin layer of sweat covered your skin, glistening. You took a deep breath, tired but still pushing through, your limbs already sore from all the movement, but Law kept urging you not to stop, so you didn't stop.
It had been a few hours since you had been like this, and Law seemed just as exhilarated as you. His skilled and tattooed fingers worked their magic, while his mouth emitted the most beautiful sounds you had ever heard, and apparently, he had no intention of stopping anytime soon. Sweat drops traced the spaces between his muscles perfectly, distracting you a bit. He softly called your name, bringing your attention back.
You glanced at your jeans discarded in the corner, focusing solely on continuing.
But your arms felt like they were about to give in, your legs too seemed ready to give up, a burning sensation filled your muscles, but you needed to keep going, at least until the end of this song.
The clatter of the cymbals rang in your ears as that 3-minute segment - which felt like 20 - finally ended. You threw your head back, groaning, feeling like you were going to die from the heat. You had already ditched your jeans a while ago, only a long black tank top covered your body, the little breeze in the room flowed through the wide sides; you were still wearing it out of respect for the homeowner.
You had shared tiny hotel rooms with these guys enough times not to care about it.
Ikkaku handed you a cold bottle of water when he saw you struggling to catch your breath, leaning on the drum set and tilting your head down. "Come on, Law", Ikkaku said. "We've been here for hours! Y/N can't even breathe properly!"
"I..." panting. "Am..." panting. "Fine..." panting.
Law flashed his famous half-smile before responding to Ikkaku. "You're right, Y/N-ya can't even concentrate properly", he teased you while taking the strap holding his guitar from his shoulder, you groaned. "Y/N-ya, you should groan less, you sound like a dog that way", you responded with a middle finger, too dog-tired to even swear back at him. He laughed.
You crawled to the cool garage floor of Rosinante, pressing the cold water bottle against your neck. "What are you all looking at, bunch of losers?!" You asked Shachi and Penguin, who were standing beside your body, they seemed to have some clever comments in mind, but they gave up when they saw your angry look.
All of this because you were going to play at an event, the Grand Line, that weekend, in a not-so-nearby city.
Your guitarist, vocalist, and frontman seemed to be in some kind of frenzy, maybe a manic or perfectionist phase, you had no idea, but he had made all of you cram into the hot garage of his house and rehearse until the drumsticks broke or your fingertips bled.
It wasn't even one of those stupid competitions you used to participate in; he just wanted to look better than other bands, like Victoria Punk or Straw Hats. He wanted to make sure you all were in perfect sync, like a big heart beating at the right frequency to ensure that all parts of a body received blood in the right amount, quality, and at the right time.
And you accepted it, after all, it was Law. You two were like peas in a pod; you would do anything for him, just as he would do anything for you; so you always gave your best to make everything the way he wanted it, after all, that's how friendship worked, right?
Rosinante entered the garage, with his wide smile on his lips and his eyes almost closing. In his gloved hands, he held a tray of hot cookies, smoke rising from the small dough men. Bepo was the first to get up and walk to the door.
(...)
You were all at the train station near Law's house, some suitcases, guitar and bass cases scattered around you as you waited for Shachi and Penguin to arrive in their uncle's pickup truck, affectionately named Polar Tang, to take everything to that damn event.
You were sitting on one of the suitcases, talking to Ikkaku about these events and how you wished they would happen closer to your hometown. Law was sitting on a wooden bench, Bepo was napping beside him, using him as a pillow. The vocalist watched as you conversed.
"Look on the bright side", she commented. "At least there are more people to meet", Ikkaku grinned mischievously.
"As if anyone pays attention to the drummer", you replied, laughing as you put your cold hands in the jacket pockets.
Law found himself looking at you for a few moments, admiring how the smoke escaped from your mouth as you spoke, or the way you swayed on the suitcase, sitting on it as if it were a wheelchair.
"I mean, you're always up front, can easily be seen by everyone", you laughed. "I'm hidden behind drums, overshadowed by the rest of you", Ikkaku laughed at how dramatic you were.
It was late in the day, a layer of orange light covered your skin, indicating that those were the last rays of the sun on this particularly cold day. Law loved to see how your lashes were gently kissed by that light, almost appearing a bit transparent.
"It's not like you're invisible either", Ikkaku commented, shifting her weight from one leg to the other. "I mean, you have some people interested in you too, but I've never seen you interested in anyone", you wrinkled your nose.
"I don't like it", you shrugged. "I don't think those people really like me. It seems like everyone just wants a chance to say they fucked with someone from a band..." Ikkaku pouted. "Hey, but that's my opinion, not saying you guys are wrong for it."
You looked back as you laughed at your friend's reaction, saying that you didn't understand and things didn't work that way, and that you were making her feel bad for wanting to be with some people sometimes. Law was looking at you attentively, an indecipherable expression on his face, but it was too late to look away, so he just gave a nervous smile. You responded with a raised eyebrow before turning to calm Ikkaku and say that there was no problem in taking advantage of it.
The guitarist sighed, his cheeks red from being caught looking at you.
The thought seemed too ridiculous to him.
Law would never admit this - he wouldn't even let anyone see him like this - but you made him nervous. He never had any trouble getting any girl he wanted, after all, look at him, his perfectly messy hair, tanned tattooed skin, and golden piercings, not to mention the perfect body he always showed off in fishnet shirts or open jackets with nothing underneath.
But you... You were different, none of that seemed to matter when it came to attraction. He had never seen you interested in anyone, always looking at everyone as if they weren't worthy of your attention, wearing a look of boredom when someone tried something with you; it was a mystery to him.
A mystery he would like to unravel, perhaps out of curiosity - or even caprice.
Shachi and Penguin arrived minutes later with the yellow pickup truck, you insisted on sitting by the window in case you got nauseous, receiving complaints from Bepo because he also wanted to sit by the window, but when he was reminded that the back seat had another window, he stopped complaining, until Shachi reminded him that he had to sit in the middle.
Law made sure to sit next to you, flashing that goofy ass smile of his when he got into the car right after you. You rolled your eyes and put on your headphones. When the instruments and bags were secured in the back of the pickup and everyone was settled in the car, Shachi took the wheel of the Polar Tang.
At some point, you rolled your thumb over the plastic knob that controlled the volume of your headphones, lowering the music to hear what they were talking about. You immediately regretted it when you heard Penguin explaining something about balls; understanding immediately when you saw Law and Ikkaku's incredulous faces and Bepo's red cheeks.
As unpleasant as these situations could be, it was nice to travel with them. Bepo was always responsible for giving directions, but he could never sit in the front and always had to stay in the middle. Those were the moments when you all talked the most, after all, there was nothing else to do. You loved hearing Shachi and Penguin's stories about their uncle, a guy named Wolf, who was always building something new as if he were Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, Law called him Mr. Junk.
You also sang together sometimes, which reminded Law why you weren't the vocalists of the band; but it was fun to share those moments. It was funny to see how they behaved in those roadside shops when you stopped to eat something, Shachi and Penguin liked to pretend not to speak the native language just to mess with the sellers, and you, Bepo, and Ikkaku sometimes joined in, inventing new languages or speaking your language poorly just to confuse them.
You woke up a few hours later, after drooling on your neck pillow. It was just past midnight, and you had the same feeling of waking up in the middle of the night to travel, but in this situation, you already were. The sound was somewhat muffled inside the car; it took you a while to understand what they were saying.
When you finally got out of the car, you stretched, raising your arms above your head, only for Penguin to start tickling you. While you laughed and tried to free yourself from your friend's hands, someone came out of the hotel door, speaking loudly and excitedly.
"Torao!" The sound of flip-flops and the nickname immediately made Law tense up, his muscles tensing. Luffy, the frontman of the Straw Hats, immediately hugged the guitarist, wrapping his arms around him. You marveled at how Luffy could always be so electric.
You all brought your bags inside while Shachi parked the car in the hotel parking lot, Luffy and some other members of his band were at the reception, talking to you as you checked in, Kid and his band were nowhere to be found, Nami, one of the Straw Hats' vocalists, told you.
You saw Zoro on the other side of the room, his green hair was unmistakable; he was the drummer, so you always had something to talk about. You were on your way to him when you heard your name being called.
"Y/N, the rooms here are pretty cheap", Ikkaku told you, getting your attention at the counter. "We can get a room just for us and leave those idiots to fend for themselves", she said with a smile. You accepted without thinking twice; sharing a room with four guys was a nightmare you still didn't feel prepared to go through again.
As soon as you sat on the comfortable sheets of the bed, you realized how tired you were and fell asleep almost immediately upon entering the room.
(...)
It's barely 8 in the morning, and Luffy is once again speaking loudly and being enthusiastic, this time at your room's door. He was knocking on the door of the next room, where the others were sleeping, telling them to come have breakfast and that Sanji had kicked the cook out to prepare the food for all of you.
You didn't bother changing your clothes, heading to the hotel cafeteria in your pajamas, accompanied by five others who made the same fashion choice. The Straw Hats were already there, just as excited as their frontman. You finally got to see the Victoria Punk band, all of them seeming to be hungover, still wearing the clothes from the day before.
Law didn't seem to be in a good mood either, but unlike them, he didn't grunt at anyone who passed by the table. Bepo was almost falling asleep in his chair, and you had to stroke your friend's white hair to wake him up when Sanji arrived at the table, serving dishes for all of you.
"For you lovely ladies, a special dish", the blonde said with a wink as he placed a plate for you and Ikkaku. It looked way too appetizing compared to the others' plates, which also seemed delicious. Law furrowed his brows and crossed his arms.
"Why are they getting special treatment?" Your guitarist asked.
"Mind your own business, Torao", Sanji replied without turning to him.
"Tsk", Law lowered his head, probably trying to hide his eyes behind his hat, which he wasn't wearing. "Stop hitting on my band members."
"Mind your own business, Law", it was your turn, along with Ikkaku, receiving an incredulous glare from Law.
"You guys are unbelievable..."
While eating and teasing Law for being jealous of not receiving any special treatment, you felt a pair of eyes on you. When you turned, you saw Zoro looking at you, with his usual scowl and crossed arms. You smiled at him, receiving a wave in response.
Law seemed to notice this, as when you turned back to continue eating, he was watching you with furrowed brows.
You returned to your rooms to get ready. You had to take the instruments to the Grand Line, set everything up, and then perform at night. The thought of spending the whole day in a pub made your head ache, but you were impressed when you saw the size of the place; the sound would resonate better there, so you wouldn't have to worry about the soundcheck bothering your ears.
Since it was only one stage for the three bands, you would be using the same drum set for practicality. You, Zoro, and Killer, the drummer of the Victoria Punk, were setting up the drums, trying to adjust them so that everyone could play comfortably. You watched Killer add more drums, props, and cymbals to the set, sitting at the end of the stage while taking a break before the soundcheck. You had the feeling of being watched.
Zoro approached with a can, tapping it lightly on your shoulder to get your attention. "Beer?" You accepted, taking the beer.
"What happened to Luffy?" You pointed to the man sitting depressed in the corner, holding his hat in his hands while looking at the door anxiously.
"He's waiting for his brothers; they said they'd be here to see him play", Roronoa explained, and you nodded, sipping your beer.
"And you guys, bums, not working?" Kid asked, and you rolled your eyes.
"You're not doing anything either, Gizao", you said with a smile, apparently enough to annoy the redhead.
Before Kid could say anything, a tattooed hand stopped on his shoulder. "Don't annoy Eustass-ya; he's nervous because he has to work twice as hard as us because he's lame", you and Zoro laughed when you saw him turn even redder than his hair, turning to curse Law, who only responded with a sly smile.
You continued talking to Zoro while watching Killer test the drums. At some point, you got up to test a quick segment to see if the drum set was well-suited for you. When it was Zoro's turn, you saw him do his usual move, putting a drumstick in his mouth to play one of the cymbals near his head.
You didn't exactly understand why, but you found it amazing to watch him do that.
"Y/N-ya", a voice pulled you from your thoughts. "Could you please help Bepo?" Law asked, arms crossed, looking a bit annoyed, but you didn't want to ask why. You went to help Bepo set up his timbales and some drums in the corner of the stage, leaving room for people with lighter instruments to move freely.
It didn't take long for the night to arrive. Everyone was in the dressing room, and you couldn't help but feel somewhat suffocated with so many people. Robin and Nami approached you at some point, calling Ikkaku to get ready together. At some point, Kid and Killer approached you all, resulting in a comical moment of the six of you exchanging shades of lipstick. You felt the same sensation of being watched again.
In a way, everything seemed like organized chaos. You saw Robin stepping back a bit to help Franky with his mohawk, which you were sure wasn't natural. Zoro was on the couch fixing Chopper's hair while Sanji did the same, adjusting Luffy's hair, who only stopped complaining that his brothers hadn't arrived yet when Sanji gave him food.
Bepo was chatting animatedly with Chopper, and it was funny to see the two of them talking since they were the youngest, so they seemed to identify with each other. You saw Shachi and Penguin posing in front of the mirror in front of Usopp, who was fixing his afro next to Brook, who was styling his hair. They were sharing the mirror with Jimbe, who was finishing a braid.
When you looked at Law, the feeling of being watched disappeared as soon as your guitarist averted his gaze. You walked over to him, sitting on a high stool in the corner, arms crossed and alone. He was watching you as you approached.
"Aren't you going to get ready?" You asked.
"I'm waiting for one of the mirrors to become available", you nodded, smiling. Automatically, your hand reached for your makeup kit, taking out a small eyeshadow palette, raising his eyebrows, already knowing what was coming.
He let you do his makeup without saying anything, but without moving an centimeter to help; you had to hold his chin to lift his face. It only got worse when you applied your lipstick, pulling the color beyond the corners of his lips.
"Are you nervous?" You asked, feeling his jaw tense under your fingers. With a gentle movement, you began applying red eyeshadow just below his eyes; he looked up to help.
"No", he replied promptly, but you felt him tense up even more.
Law wasn't exactly the easiest person to deal with; he always appeared relaxed, but beneath that, he was always tense, overthinking. And he still had that damn habit of looking at you as if he knew a secret of yours that you would never find out what it was, the smile that no matter how many times he gave it to you, it would always tease you.
He always seemed to be hiding something.
"Then you should relax those muscles a bit", you smiled and moved a bit closer to his face, now holding the eyeliner pencil. He shrugged.
You were too concerned about not poking your friend's eye with the pencil to notice his cheeks blushing more and more. Nami took a photo of you two in that position.
"That's mean, Nami", Robin said, laughing.
"I can't help it if these two idiots are so cute together," the redhead said, looking at the photo on her phone screen. "And besides, I might be able to sell this."
The Straw Hats were the first to be called, apparently following a random order; Luffy refused to go on stage until he was informed that his brothers had already arrived.
"Zoro!" You called him when he was about to enter the wrong door. "It's over there", you pointed while laughing; he grunted and looked away, cheeks red. "Good luck", you said after patting his shoulder and handing him an extra drumstick he had forgotten.
You watched them from the corner of the stage, behind the curtains, singing and dancing with Bepo and Ikkaku. Law was also there, but he didn't say anything, just nodding along.
You were up next, and the nerves barely managed to affect you because of the excitement. Despite Law being a bit manic about his rehearsals and perfection in these shows, you loved to perform. It was fun to see people react to the music you produced.
"Here come the aspiring Limp Bizkit", you heard Kid say, and all of you responded with middle fingers.
Shachi threw himself into his DJ booth, Ikkaku already had her bass in position, and Penguin stood next to her, adjusting his guitar and microphone. Bepo was timidly behind his drums, while Law posed in front of everyone, his leather jacket open to show his chest tattoo and the plumage on his neck.
"We are the Heart" Law said before starting the aggressive chords of the song, his voice intentionally lower and sexier.
Amidst the bright lights, you saw the line of people drooling over Law; you rolled your eyes as you began to play. A brief pause for Ikkaku's fast solo before Law started singing, with Penguin accompanying him on his rhythm guitar and background vocals. Bepo played his timbales more gently than you hit your drum kit; Shachi organized the melody and added an extra touch in his DJ booth, all of you in perfect harmony.
(...)
"Go ahead, Deftones", you said to Kid as you bumped into him while leaving the stage; it was their turn to perform.
"That's unfair", Shachi grumbled when you entered the dressing room; most of the Straw Hats members should now be scattered throughout the pub. "They went on right after we warmed up the audience."
"We also went on right after the Straw Hats", Bepo replied.
"But we're different!"
You collapsed on the couch to rest; your arms were burning from playing the drums so energetically. However, your peace didn't last long when you saw a small group of people enter the dressing room, all smiling and eager to chat with you.
You often felt sad for some people who entered the dressing room to really talk to you because they were fans. You had talked to many interesting people before, but they often got lost among those interested only in taking a piece of you as a trophy to show off to others.
You even considered talking to a cute guy who was looking at you, but that desire faded when you saw one of the girls practically rubbing her cleavage on Law's arm, and he responded with a smile before looking at you.
You got up from the couch as quickly as possible, suddenly feeling more uncomfortable than you should. You tried not to let it ruin your night, heading to the bar alone. You thought about inviting Bepo with you, but he seemed to be having fun talking to an equally shy girl.
You found Zoro at the bar, drinking with Nami and Jimbe. You decided to join them since there was nothing more interesting to do. You even danced with Nami and Chopper, sang some songs in the karaoke after the Victoria Punk show, but nothing could shake that strange feeling in your chest.
"Is something bothering you, Y/N-san?" You heard Sanji's voice as you sought fresh air outside. He was smoking, his hair was messy, and there were some lipstick stains on his neck and collar.
You thought for a moment before responding, deciding whether it was a good idea to tell him or not. "Kind of, Sanji", you replied, sighing. "But it's silly."
"If it bothers you, it's not silly", you had never heard him speak seriously for so long without hitting on you. "Come on, I don't mind listening."
"I'm not sure how to explain," you smiled, looking at the street. "There are some things someone does that bother me, but I don't feel like I can say anything, especially because it doesn't... make sense for me to complain."
Sanji raised an eyebrow, recognizing the slight blush on your cheeks.
"I could resolve this by talking, after all, this person is my best friend, but I don't feel like I have the right to complain."
"I see", he took a drag of his cigarette. "Maybe you're creating the problem yourself; if this person is truly your best friend, they'll listen to you."
You bit your lip, leaning forward as you thought. "You're right, Sanji-san", you replied. Law walked out of the bar, looking around until his eyes landed on you. Sanji saw him arrive and sighed.
"Relax, Y/N-san", Sanji smiled at you, placing his hand on your shoulder. "Not all the answers are within yourself. Don't keep everything bottled up", and then he left, passing by Law and Bepo without saying anything.
"Y/N-ya", Law sounded irritated. "Bepo and I are going back to the hotel", you raised your eyebrows, looking at Bepo. "Shall we?" Maybe he was asking if you wanted to go back with him, but it sounded like an order.
You had no preference between staying and going, so you just nodded. Law stared out the taxi window with a scowl, while Bepo laughed quietly and covered his cheeks with his hands. You were sitting between the two, just enjoying the music from the taxi's radio.
It didn't take long to reach the hotel; you entered your room without saying anything. Throughout the way, you had been thinking about what Sanji told you. Would it really be a good idea to talk to Law about this? Perhaps it would become too awkward, or it could end your friendship. However, given how he acted, maybe he didn't even care. Maybe that would be worse.
Your phone vibrated with a message from Ikkaku. She asked if you could, at least for that night, sleep in the boys' room; she didn't need to say more for you to understand. You didn't get irritated; it was the first time she could enjoy the hotel room for this purpose.
After brushing your teeth and changing your clothes, you left the room even before she arrived. You waited a bit before knocking on the door of the next room, sighing. The corridor that intersected yours was open, with a view of the garden, and the moonlight barely illuminated the flower bushes.
You walked over there; there was a wooden bench against the wall next to it, and you didn't hesitate to sit down, enjoying the silence and the cool breeze. Closing your eyes, you heard the sound of laughter and footsteps of people trying to be quiet; it must have been Ikkaku, and then silence again. It went on like this for a few minutes until you were startled by a voice.
"What are you doing here?" It was Law, the firm tone was unmistakable. You opened your eyes and gasped, startled.
"Ikkaku found some company for the night", you muttered, leaning your head against the wall, slowly regaining your composure and calming your heart. Law didn't bother to apologize.
"I think Penguin and Shachi did too", Law replied, crossing his arms in front of his body before leaning to rest his arm on the wall beside him. "Bepo is snoring in the room", you shrugged. "He got all giddy because of a girl he was talking to today."
"Oh, that girl was cute", you said, recalling their rosy cheeks. "It's surprising that you haven't found anyone either", you commented with a brief smile, looking at the open corridor ceiling; there was an acidic tone in your voice, again remembering what Sanji had said.
"What do you mean by that?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Come on, you know", you sighed. "All these groupies, eager to appreciate your finger skills", you chuckled softly, recalling the line of girls in front of the stage, screaming in the hope of getting some attention from the Heart's frontman.
"I won't lie; I have my charisma", he replied with a smile, looking away. This guy was damn hot, and he knew it; you couldn't blame him. "But I wasn't in the mood", you laughed again.
"Funny", he raised his eyebrows.
"And you?"
"Hmm?"
"I don't think I've ever seen you with someone, or even showing interest in anyone during our shows", your eyes shifted to him, your head tilting to the side as you watched your guitarist.
"I'm not interested in that."
"Not even the lettuce head?" You raised an eyebrow.
"Lettuce head?" You thought for a moment. "Roronoa?" He nodded slowly. "What about him?"
"I saw you talking; it looked like something was going on."
"Yeah, of course, definitely", you replied with irony and a touch of humor in your voice. "He was just giving me some tips not to break my drumsticks anymore; I've been hitting them in the wrong place accidentally", you turned your eyes back to the ceiling.
"And the suit guy?"
"Sanji?" You laughed at the nickname. "We were just talking about the show", you lied.
Law paused for a moment, sighing. He clutched his arm while biting his lip, summoning the courage to continue the conversation.
"Do you... like someone?" He asked, and you looked at him curiously. "Like... you never seem interested in anyone who approaches you... But I know you're not asexual or anything", you raised your eyebrows.
"What makes you think that?" A smile appeared on your lips.
"I've overheard you guys talking."
"Hmm, eavesdropping, Trafalgar?" You chuckled.
"It's kind of hard not to overhear when you guys are talking at 3 a.m. in the same room as me while I'm trying to sleep", yeah, that must have happened for sure. "But seriously. You never approach anyone, or let anyone get close."
"I don't know", you smiled, adjusting your posture. "I think I might like someone, yeah", you scratched your head, your smile slowly fading; perhaps this was your chance to talk about what was bothering you. "But I don't want something fleeting with him, you know? That's not my thing", you sighed. "And I think he's only interested in that, so I've lowered my expectations. I must have just a crush; I don't think I'm in love or anything like that", you murmured.
Law's golden eyes watched you with hope as you spoke, not all was lost after all. He even dared to think that maybe he was the person you liked, if that were the case, all he had to do was show that he was interested in more than sex... was he really?
The thought made him choke on the air, coughing aimlessly. He liked you, a lot, but he also liked his fleeting things, after all, sex didn't have to mean anything. At the end of the night, people would leave your room anyway, so he wouldn't have to worry about the pain of losing someone else if everything was short-lived. But if he thought like that, why was he going so far for you?
It wasn't like a prize that he would spend hours rehearsing with his band to win and then just put it on his shelf as if it were something shiny to look at. You were much more than something as fleeting as a night of sex, far more present than his week-long flings, and more solid than his relationships that lasted less than two months.
You were much more than this mystery he wanted to unravel; far more than anything his whim could provide.
Fuck.
"Are you okay?" You asked. "You look a bit pale. Nervous?" He swallowed hard.
"No, no", he caught his breath. "I was just thinking, that's all", you sighed before clutching the wooden bench.
"Careful, soon there'll be smoke coming out of your head", he laughed, and you did too, awkwardly. "Hey, Law. Is there space in your bed? I really want to sleep", he raised an eyebrow.
"What? Why in mine? Do you want to sleep with me?" Law asked, straightening up on his feet, and his question came out more defensively than he would have liked. You raised your eyebrows.
"You're the only one I see awake that I can ask", Law relaxed his expression, hoping the dark corridor hid his flushed cheeks.
You squeezed into Law's single bed, hugging your friend and intertwining your legs with his, fitting into the small space. He breathed hesitantly, as if afraid of doing it wrong. "Relax, idiot", you murmured against the fabric of his shirt. "It's not like it's the first time we've slept together, right?"
Then you fell asleep, but he didn't. Law made sure to feel every centimeter of your body against his, relishing your warmth as he tried to rearrange his thoughts, which was much more challenging with your breath against his skin.
He thought, thought some more, and then some more until morning came when you got up, saying you were going to get ready to go have breakfast. He kept thinking for a while as his bandmates moved around the room, changing clothes and brushing their teeth.
"Fuck", he grumbled; his cheeks were warm, his heart was beating faster, and there was a smile on his face. "I think I'm in love."

00. TIME MOVES SLOW WHEN YOU'RE ALL ALONE, AND TIMES MOVES SLOW;
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about writing a fanfic after reading this one (btw this is a recommendation). it would be basically the opposite: I have a headcannon that Law would be considerably rich due to his family of doctors. So, the person who would live in all the luxury would be our dear aspiring doctor. Added a touch of drama 'cause I love a little pain.
This is just one chapter because I wanted to know if you guys like the idea, so if you'd like me to continue, please let me know.
2302 words.
modern au, she/her reader, use of "y/n", angst (?), law is 22, grief, implicit and explicit drug use, swearing, post-traumatic stress. mdni!
Tumblr media
Grief is a complex set of emotions that humans deal with after the loss of something fundamentally important to them. Grief isn't always triggered solely by death, but also, as mentioned earlier, by the painful farewell to something significant. Today, it is understood that grief has 7 stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance; not necessarily faced in that order.
However, when grief stops being a loss and turns into a disease, it's called pathological grief.
In this way, Trafalgar D. Water Law has lived the last 12 years of his life.
Law was sprawled on the bed of god-knows-who, with his shirt unbuttoned and his head spinning. The noise he could hear was his heavy breathing, as if his ears were inside his dry throat, while his eyes moved agonizingly slowly around the unfamiliar room.
The memories of how he got there or what was happening had long escaped his mind, but he was certain of one thing: He needed water, and perhaps a shower. Maybe he should call Rosinante, despite promising him that he wouldn't do it again.
Determined to reach the kitchen, Law dragged himself out of bed, his feet hitting the floor as steadily as he could manage — which wasn't much. He was almost halfway there when he stumbled over a blazer and fell to the ground like a bag of bones, shaking the room.
He began to mutter, wondering who would leave a blazer in the middle of the room like that. The blazer was his. The door creaked open with a muffled sound due to the music, and Law felt someone touch his back.
"Damn, I thought someone was having a pretty hardcore fuck here", the voice was familiar, Law looked up to see who it was. "I was going to ask to join, but it was just you", Sabo smiled, looking at Law with that same psychopathic smile as usual.
Sabo was one of those boys whose parents always warned to stay away from, as he could become a criminal or an addict in the future. However, as he grew up, Sabo silenced everyone when he was accepted into one of the best universities in the country, becoming one of the smartest people anyone had ever seen around him; even though he often seemed to hate it all. In the end, he settled for studying International Relations at the state's best college, against everyone's wishes and only following his own reasoning.
However, he still acted like a crazy fuck. And that's why he understood the whole situation when he saw Law's red eyes. "Damn, that was strong, huh?", he helped Law to his feet.
"F-Fuck off", Law groaned as he stood up, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment from his deplorable situation. "I-I want water", the words came out unconsciously, as if his body was speaking for him.
Sabo laughed, helping him walk out of the room. "Come with me, I'll help you", the blonde shouted over the music. They practically stumbled down the stairs to the ground floor.
The silver decorations and the low light of the place, combined with the loud music and the large number of people there, made Law even dizzier. The only thing he could look at to help his mental confusion was the huge glass window that overlooked a large and well-maintained garden, which, unfortunately, was filled with people here and there.
Sabo guided them to a corridor beside the stairs. The corridor seemed to stretch and then shrink several times as they walked to the door at the end, which Sabo pushed slowly before entering with Law.
It was the kitchen that Law had longed to reach in the last 3 minutes. The light was bright compared to the rest of the party; there were some waiters hired for the night, along with some people Law had seen around.
The kitchen was filled with the most expensive appliances. The stove had so many burners it looked ridiculous, the refrigerator seemed as wide and tall as a cabinet, and all the utensils were neatly arranged, highly polished and gleaming. Not to mention the extensive marble countertops and the golden details in the corners of each piece of furniture; there was also a long glass wall that displayed the image of the distant nighttime city, as bright as day due to its ever-lit lights, divided by the scenery of a quiet beach.
Given the attention to detail in this kitchen, it was possible that whoever the owner of this house was, they never had to set foot in this kitchen.
"Oi, Sabo", Kid spoke. Kid was a red-haired guy with painted nails and lipstick on his lips, holding a blunt between his fingers and blowing smoke through his teeth. He was dressed in the rest of his waiter outfit, his apron now tucked into the back pocket of his pants and his black dress shirt open.
"Who's this guy?", Kid, another one of the waiters, asked, watching Sabo lean Law against the wall next to the door. "Damn, he's messed up, huh?", he said as he saw the man bow his head.
Law was pitifully leaning against the wall, slightly leaning forward, head down, and too weak to move his hanging arms. His vision was a blur of his tattooed arms covered with a lazily rolled-up white dress shirt on his elbows and his shoes now dirty from who-knows-what.
Sabo laughed. "Go easy on him, he's new to this stuff", Law wanted to protest, but his tongue felt too heavy in his mouth. Sabo left his blazer on the counter and opened the refrigerator for water.
Maybe he was too high, but he still felt a gaze burning his skin. He slowly turned his head to look at a girl sitting on the floor, her back against the wall, wearing a waiter outfit similar to the others', now looser; and it was her who now held Kid's blunt.
The girl looked him up and down as she brought the cigarette between her index and thumb to her lips, there was a certain pity in her eyes, but Law chose to ignore it, no matter how irresistible her figure might be.
"His name is Law", Sabo added, handing him a glass of water.
"No way!", Kid said, laughing. "The Trafalgar Law? Man, you're like Batman!", Law grunted.
"Shut up, Kid. Are you eating shit or what?", the girl on the floor said, scolding Kid.
"No parents and being taken care of by a guardian? Sounds like Batman indeed", Law mumbled with difficulty, receiving the glass of water from Sabo.
The atmosphere in the kitchen grew heavy. Everyone remembered the Trafalgar accident; it was news for a few days, and the only survivor was the eldest son, Trafalgar Law. Post-traumatic stress kept him at home for a few years, where he dedicated himself to studying to continue his parents' legacy. But here he was, incredibly high for the first time.
It had been a series of unfortunate events that led him to that party that day.
But, in short, he wanted to experience a little of what he had missed due to his years at home.
Law banged the glass on the counter in front of him; he felt like he should say some things to this Kid guy, but his head was so confused that he felt, for a moment, like he was somewhere else. "Go... fuck yourself...!", Kid seemed to turn as red as his hair, but Sabo immediately cut both of them off with a laugh.
"You're even funnier like this, Torao!", a voice came from the other side of the kitchen along with a laugh. It was Luffy, one of Law's "friends," a title he didn't really want to call him. "You should get high more often", Luffy tapped his back a few times.
Trafalgar, already annoyed at being so high and also by Kid's well-thought-out comment, seemed to get more irritated by Luffy's presence, who was laughing too loudly for his taste. He pushed himself off the counter and walked awkwardly to the kitchen door, struggling a bit to open it due to its weight, and then staggered down the corridor.
The man staggered, getting lost in the huge house, with no idea what he was doing. The suffocating feeling of not being in control made him want to cry; he felt like he was sleeping, in a senseless, noisy dream. It was too hot, too stuffy, too noisy, too crowded. Moments passed like blurred flashes, too confusing to decipher; until he seemed to "wake up" from his dream.
Law was lying on something soft. He felt a cold breeze hit his body like an uncomfortable embrace. When he finally opened his eyes, the night sky was painted before him, he could hear the sound of the music more clearly now, though a bit more distant compared to the waves of the beach, and amidst the electronic rhythm and the crashing waves, a voice seemed to speak to him.
"I hate working for these spoiled brats, they all think I'm their damn housekeeper and should do whatever they tell me", Law turned his head to see who was talking, finding the same girl from the kitchen, sitting cross-legged with her back to him in the sand, smoking a cigarette angrily. "Damn, I'm here just to serve drinks, not to make the porridge that your housekeeper makes every night before bed!", Law ran his fingers through the sand, feeling the fine grains caress his palm. He heard her venting, but he didn't understand a single word.
She turned around and looked him deep in the eyes before speaking: "You woke up, finally. How do you feel?", she smiled.
"Like I've been run over", he was honest. He still felt out of it, but conscious enough to know what he was doing.
"Huh, wait until tomorrow", she said as Law sat up. He now noticed that she was wearing his coat. "You asked me to call someone named Cora-san, but I couldn't find his contact on your phone", she reached out, handing the device to Law. "Sorry about that."
Law rubbed his eyes, confused. "What... What happened? Where's Sabo?"
"You don't remember, do you?", she smiled, and Law, fearing what he might have done during this blackout, blushed violently. "Don't worry", she laughed. "Sabo carried you to the kitchen to get some water, but then Kid started talking crap and Luffy started annoying you until you left the kitchen. Sabo was going after you, but... I think her name was Koala, she stopped him and started arguing with him. I found you sitting on a couch next to the bathroom...", she stopped, pondering whether she should continue.
Law raised an eyebrow.
"You... were crying. Like, a lot. I brought you some water, but you said you didn't want to drink anymore, and then you started talking...", she sighed. "Anyway, you asked me to call this Cora-san and gave me your phone, and then you said you wanted some fresh air. I brought you here, and you ended up dozing off in the sand".
Law widened his eyes and cringed at the thought of what he might have told her. He didn't remember any of this, which made him want to disbelieve what he might have done, but since there was no other version of this gap in his mind, he just abstained.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone anything", she said when she saw his worried face.
"... Thank you", he said, grabbing his phone to check the time; it was almost dawn. He swallowed hard before unlocking the device.
He heard her chuckle softly and looked at the city on the horizon, finishing her cigarette. "Of course".
For some reason, his heart squeezed in his chest. That girl he didn't even know the name of had just helped him in a terrible moment of drunkenness for no reason, and as much as he could easily doubt her word, he trusted that she wouldn't tell anyone about his outburst.
His golden eyes fell on her again, watching her hair being carried by the cold morning breeze. The ever-present melancholy lingered in his mind as he dialed Rosinante's number on his phone; his finger hovered over the call button. "What's your name?".
She paused to think for a moment before answering. "Y/N", she turned her face towards him. The sun had just started to rise, and the sky was a bit brighter now.
He wanted to thank her for helping him, for being so kind to someone she barely knew, for caring enough to stay with him until he woke up; to say that he appreciated what she had done and apologize for causing trouble. But all that came out of his lips was: "Why did you help me?".
And all she replied was: "Because I wanted to."
He mentally slapped himself for sounding so ungrateful, he tried again to thank her, apologize, but she kept talking. "People don't always have a reason for doing what they do..." she seemed to notice the confusion in his eyes. "You were in a vulnerable moment, I couldn't leave you like that", and she gave one of the gentlest smiles Law had ever seen.
He swallowed hard as he remembered Rosinate.
"OOOOIIII, Y/N!", someone shouted in the background, she turned her head to see Kid calling her. "WE'RE LEAVING!!", she got up and brushed the sand off her clothes.
"COMING, JUST A MINUTE!!", she shouted back. "My ride's leaving. Nice to meet you, Law. Don't forget to call Cora-san", she took off the blazer to return it. "Call me if you need anything", then she turned and started running back towards the house, shoes in hand.
"Goodbye...", he said, but then he realized something. "I DON'T HAVE YOUR NUMBER!", he shouted, his eyes filled with the image of the girl now running away.
"YOU THINK!".
Law wanted to shout back, but something clicked in his mind. His fingers touched the screen of his phone to open the "Contacts" app, sliding his finger to find a new contact saved as "Y/N :p".

05. OH, HOME, LET COME HOME
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
'Wolf brought another strange kid home' masterlist.
based on Law's light novel, Shachi and Penguin's past, 1st person pov.
Tumblr media
It took four days for them to wake up.
During that time, onnanoko and I took care of them, and the three of us took turns with household chores under Law's command, to continue helping Wolf while keeping an eye on the boys. I found it impressive how he could manage things.
"They were the boys who were messing with me in the forest", I told her as we cleaned them, the day before they woke up, and she asked me why I was helping them. I didn't understand why she asked that, so I just replied, "just because" and continued, too tired to understand the reason behind her question.
When they woke up, all of us were tired but happy to see them conscious. I could see how Law seemed concerned about the two of them. He often talked about the boy with the cap, who, despite still being weak due to the hole in his stomach, would be fine as long as we took care of him.
He was the first to wake up, an hour or two before his friend. Onnanoko hid at the top of the stairs. He seemed bothered by his injury, but he could speak calmly. He kept looking at me in a strange way and always turned his face when I looked back at him.
But Law mainly talked about the boy with the cap that had 'Penguin' written on it and his arm. Sometimes at night, he stayed awake in the living room, looking at him with concern. Law was worried about his arm, I didn't understand why, but he explained to me that such surgery was very complicated, and it wasn't just about putting his arm back in place; there were several things he needed to sew in the exact right place for him to be able to use his arm again. I stayed with him in the living room during those nights.
Then 'Penguin' woke up, onnanoko climbed a few more steps, and Law seemed even tenser. Wolf stopped right at the door, arms crossed while he watched us, and the other boy bit his lips nervously.
"I'm going to remove your bandages. See if you can move your arm and fingers", Law said, cutting his bandages with scissors.
"O-Okay..." He replied, terrified. Even onnanoko approached a bit closer, watching everything while peering through the wall of the staircase.
He sighed, looking at his arm with fear. I saw his muscle contract, and then he moved his little finger, followed by the ring finger, the middle finger, index finger, and thumb. Surprised, he raised his arm and bent his elbow, moving his forearm.
Everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief. I was so happy to see him able to move his arm that I hugged him without even thinking, and he was crying, sniffing while I hugged him tightly. The boy with the cap was crying too. Both of them seemed relieved to be well. I could hardly hold back my tears watching them happy and thanking Law.
"Thank you, thank you so much!" 'Penguin' said, bowing his head when I let go.
"Oh man, I was so scared! I thought it was a lost case... But I'm alive, thanks to you!" The boy with the cap said between tears and a huge smile on his face. He still looked pale and weak, but he was happy. I restrained my desire to hug him too.
It took almost a week, but they were almost fully recovered. Law said they seemed very aware of what had happened. Wolf and I helped 'Penguin' with his recovery, Law explained that he needed to move his arm due to the surgery and the time he spent immobile. Onnanoko also wanted to help, but her fear seemed to overwhelm her, especially when she had to face two new people.
The best she could do was to be in the same room with them without hiding, but she cooked and helped us with some things so that we could assist them. Wolf frequently grumbled, complained and sniffed, making faces, but Law said that was how he showed he was happy, so he hadn't kicked them out yet.
Law decided to ask them what had happened now that they were better.
"First, you two brats, what are your names?! I can't stand calling you 'cap' and 'Penguin' anymore!" Wolf said, getting up. "I am Wolf, the genius inventor Wolf! That's how you should call me, with a lot of respect!" Law chuckled and crossed his arms.
"Pay no mind to him; he's just an old man who makes a lot of junk", I heard onnanoko stifling a laugh, Wolf looked at the two of them, incredulous.
"Shut up, brat! And don't butt into the conversation when you're not called!"
"If you say so..." And then the two of them made the same face and turned away, red. Onnanoko and I laughed at them while the two boys watched in confusion.
They talked amongst themselves before introducing themselves, 'cap' was Shachi, and 'Penguin' was... well, Penguin.
"Shachi and Penguin, huh. You can start by telling us how you got hurt", Wolf asked, and I was surprised by how calm his voice was.
So the two explained. They were living in a tent in the forest, and on the day of the accident, while they were cooking meat, a wild boar hit Shachi in the stomach. Penguin tried to hit it with a bomb, but it exploded shortly after he threw it. Penguin said he had stolen the bomb from the town, when Wolf was curious about why they had one.
"I understand. You shouldn't be stealing, but I can see why you'd want to protect yourselves from wild beasts", he replied, sipping his tea. We all fell silent for a few moments, and then Law spoke, as if he read my mind.
"Where are your parents?" We all fell silent, waiting for one of them to answer.
Their parents had died in a minor tsunami six months ago. Because of that, they had to live with Shachi's uncles, who made them commit petty thefts and smuggle weapons through the city. We were all upset about everything, and onnanoko hugged my arm, hiding her face in my shoulder, and I could feel her tears wetting my fur. So I placed a hand on her head while listening to them.
"We were never treated as people. To them, we were just slaves. So we ran away. But we had nowhere to go and no way to make money, so we built a tent in the forest and tried to live a real life there... but... I don't even know what the point of living is", Penguin began to cry, and I felt very sad for the two of them.
Wolf and Law exchanged looks as the two boys cried in front of us. I could only feel very sad after hearing what they had been through. If I had known that earlier, I could have shared my food with them when we first met. Onnanoko just left and went back to her room without saying anything.
"If you hadn't saved us, we would have died in the forest. Thank you so much! And..." Shachi turned to me, and I opened my eyes a bit wider, confused. "Polar Bear... you took care of us all this time. Feeding us, helping with our rehabilitation... there are no words to express our gratitude!"
My cheeks burned when Shachi said that, and I didn't understand why he was thanking me. I had just done what needed to be done! But I worried about his effort in moving and talking so much while crying. I stretched both hands in front of my body, waving them to try to show them that they didn't need to do that.
"You... You don't have to thank me. It's natural to help someone who's injured, isn't it?" I tried to reassure him.
"It's more than that! We hit you. Kicked you, punched you. Being kind to someone who did that is more than 'natural'!" Shachi replied, and I felt embarrassed. It didn't matter anymore, after all, they still needed help, and I could help them.
Before I realized it, the two of them were bowing their heads in front of me. "Polar Bear... No, Bepo... Thank you for helping us. We are so, so sorry for taking our anger out on you!" I remained silent for a while, not knowing how to respond so that they understood that it was already in the past.
"You... Don't worry about that! I have no problem helping you!" I replied the best way I could think, but they continued to bow their heads, crying. I looked at Law and Wolf in despair, hoping they would help me with this.
Fortunately, Law finally spoke up.
"Say, you two..." And then, Law invited them to stay with us. My face lit up with the idea; I smiled enthusiastically at the two of them. But then I heard Wolf complaining.
"Did you forget that this house is mine?!" But then Law ignored him.
"Besides, Bepo and onnanoko are already part of my team," and my whole world brightened, and I practically jumped toward Law.
"Really?! This is the first time I've heard that!" I replied excitedly; I couldn't wait to tell that to onnanoko! "Aye, aye!"
"Please, let us stay here!" Penguin and Shachi begged in unison, then Wolf grumbled before complaining again.
"Hey, brats! I don't think I can do anything about it. I'll let you stay here. But make no mistake! I'm not your guardian, and I don't want to be!" He scolded, waving his arms like crazy while speaking. "I won't be part of your family, let alone your friend! The only relationship I need is to give and receive! Alright?!" I saw Law raise his eyebrows when he mentioned family; he probably thought about onnanoko but chose to remain silent.
"You need a place to live, and I need extra hands to help with household chores and my inventions! A fair exchange! As soon as the injured are healed, I'll put all of you to work in the city so you can experience real work! Any questions?!"
We didn't say anything. I thought it was fair, after all, he was letting us live with him in exchange for help.
Wolf's face turned red, and then he left, sniffing and stomping his feet with force. I was excited to have more people living with us, but I worried about the girl, Law told me to leave her alone, as the story of the two boys might have been too heavy for her.

03. AND NOW WE'RE KIDS THAT NEVER KNEW THEIR NAMES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
'Wolf brought another strange kid home' masterlist.
this title is temporary, I need to get more creative with them. edit: new title! it's a reference to this song.
based on Law's light novel, silly little domestic moments, fluff, memory loss, 1st person pov.
Tumblr media
I was starting to understand her better now.
Wolf would sniff when he was happy, while the girl would run a fever when she was happy. In fact, she would get sick for a few days.
After Wolf found her in the kitchen, he picked her up and carried her to her room, telling me that she had gotten worse. I worried as I felt her temperature under my palm, but the old man told me it was like when she visited the city with him.
At first, I thought it was just nervousness. After all, there was a new person in the house, and when she visited the city, she was surrounded by new people; it was like adding one and one. But then she started opening up a bit more with Bepo.
With nowhere to escape while lying in bed during those days, she couldn't avoid Bepo when he accompanied me. I assumed it would be difficult for them to interact, especially given the bear's shyness and the girl's fear. But I was glad to be proven wrong.
Soon, I could hear them talking, sometimes laughing. It happened even faster than with me. I listened from the door of my room as she told him about the city. I expected her to say it was scary, but nothing but kind words came out of her mouth as she excitedly explained how beautiful the city was and how kind the people were, and how she wanted to overcome her fear of people to go back.
I also heard her talk about how happy she was to have someone else to talk to and how she wanted to remember if she had friends before she forgot everything.
My heart ached a little.
So, I added one and one again, realizing she got a fever right after I talked to her about our walks. I tried to be as neutral as possible with my words, even though I was expressing my feelings. I didn't need to talk about everything I felt.
She got a fever right after I said I didn't care if she walked with me... I thought about it a bit more, unsure of how I should feel about it. She was so happy with those seemingly insignificant words that I felt bad for saying them, but I wasn't lying; I was just omitting the fact that I wanted her to walk with me every day.
It was more pleasant when I could talk to her about Sora than sitting in silence, especially when all I could think about were the last three years of my life.
I felt a twinge in my chest again. I wanted to help her not be nervous around new people so she could go to the city again.
She recovered quickly, but I asked Wolf not to give her too heavy tasks for the next few days to make sure her body didn't strain too much and worsen again. The old man looked at me with that smirk again but said it was okay as long as someone compensated for her absence on the farm.
However, it didn't take more than a day for her to insist on going back to the farm, but I opposed her decision.
"Come on, Law, if she says she's fine, she's fine!" Wolf agreed with her, and she pounded both fists on the table, making the utensils jump.
I narrowed my eyes, furrowing my brows in anger at her stubbornness. "Can't you listen to a doctor?! You need to take it easy for a few more days!"
"I don't know, I've never been to a doctor!" She replied mockingly, sticking out her tongue.
When I started to explain why it was important for her to listen to me and how a doctor knew what was best for her, as doctors studied human nature to ensure everyone stayed healthy, she hit me with a pea on my brow using the spoon as a catapult.
"Human nature my ass", she grumbled. "I'm going back to the farm tomorrow, and you can shut up!" I looked at Wolf, and she had clearly learned to speak that way with him.
The old man just laughed at the half-squashed pea on my face, giving her a high-five as if he was proud of her accuracy. I looked to the side, seeing how Bepo observed the chaos in front of him with shining eyes while chewing his dinner, fascinated by how the two of them had simply decided to make fun of me.
Despite the anger, I felt welcomed in that mess. In addition to a safe place to sleep and hot food, it was a home where I could feel the warmth of interactions and feel welcome, even with a pea on my eyebrow. At the end of the day, things weren't so bad; I shared the same fascination as the little polar bear by my side, even if on different levels.
And I demonstrated that by hitting her back with another pea.
When the two of us started a small pea war, Wolf intervened, talking about the work it took to plant all those peas, until I hit him with one.
"You know what? Fuck it."
From there on, dinner turned into a small grain war, with teams divided by the side of the table where we were sitting. Poor Bepo, he could never hit anyone and always got hit because he couldn't dodge, ending up with peas stuck in his fur.
The war ended when we ran out of peas and the floor was dirty.
"All right", Wolf said, getting up and taking his plate to the kitchen. "You kids clean this up; you started it."
"But... What about me?" Bepo furrowed his brow, looking at Wolf with a cute expression.
"Argh, look at that..." Bepo's eyes practically shone, and I pursed my lips at the sight. "You're free too, go to your room."
"Hey, that's not fair!" The girl said, incredulous.
"Nobody told you to start this", Wolf replied. Bepo was already putting his plate in the kitchen.
"But you encouraged it", I retorted, reminding him of when he gave her a high-five. I felt confident with my argument, only for him to respond with: "Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my footsteps", and then he went up the stairs.
This old bastard, sometimes I wonder if this 'give and take' thing is just a fancy way of saying 'child labor.' But still, I collected the peas and put them in my palm, making a scoop.
"Hey... Don't you think it's strange that I don't have a name?" She asked me after a few minutes of silence. Wolf and Bepo must have been in their respective rooms.
I furrowed my brow, not understanding the reason for the question. I had never really thought about it after Wolf explained everything to me. At this point, I should be used to it. "Does it bother you?"
She shrugged. "A little, I guess", she continued collecting peas but throwing them back into the plate. "I mean, all of you have names, and I'm just... 'the girl'", she mumbled.
"Well, look on the bright side... If you don't remember your name, you can choose one", she pouted.
"Yeah, I've thought about picking a name for myself, since I don't think I'll ever get my memories back", she mumbled again, and I perked up, her words piquing my medical interest. "But it seems hard to choose a name for myself, you know, I want something cool."
"You said you went to the doctor when you arrived, right?" I asked, now curious about her memory loss.
"I can't remember, Wolf said when he found me, he took me to a doctor in Pleasure Town, but I don't remember that, I was probably asleep, I think", she paused, looking at me with curiosity. "Why?"
I smiled at her choice of words. Asleep. It had to have been something more than a simple nap to erase her memories. "Do you know what the doctor said?"
She raised an eyebrow, probably finding my sudden interest in this strange. "Oh... I don't know", she scratched her head. "He said that... Hah, He said that the doctor said my memories would come back eventually, but Wolf didn't tell me anything about dates or stuff like that", I sighed, watching her as she spoke. "I've been here for about three months, I think, and I still haven't remembered anything."
Unintentionally, I squeezed the peas in my hand, crushing them a little, and then returned them to the plate and wiped my hand, scraping off the remaining peas. It was a bit sad, actually. Waking up in a strange place without knowing who you were must have been quite distressing.
So far, all we knew was that she must be from another island. No one in Pleasure Town recognized her when Wolf took her there, and that was the only nearby town where he found her.
"But I don't want to be onnanoko either, you know... Even if I don't have memories, I'm still someone, right?" She asked me as if seeking some kind of validation.
My medical curiosity gave way to the same feeling I had when I heard her talking to Bepo. I nodded, and it seemed to be enough as she smiled.
"Would you choose a different name if you could?" The question sounded almost rhetorical, but I pondered for a while as I took the dishes to the kitchen, with the dinner table now pea-free.
My name was still a mystery to me. "D." This reminded me of Corazón and all his efforts to save me because I had that name, but apparently, it was a curse, as I was the "natural enemy of God." If I changed my name, would things be different?
If I changed my name, would Corazón have saved me?
"I don't know", I replied, stacking the dishes in the sink.
