She could picture the scene already, eagerly wishing to show something to Halsin that she had found, only to stumble and fall flat on her front before him. Whatever it was she wanted to show the druid was long out of her mind at that point, instead rushing to her feet and running the other way. "I can't look at him ever again."

He's never put much thought into temples and their sanctuary. While his parents have reached out to gods far more diabolical than the Morninglord, it had always been in secret -- and young Serendipity was good at finding secrets. Not as good at figuring out what they meant, though.

But if someone like @a-zif was so devoted to Lathander, surely this god would be kinder than Bane? The temple made in his name is awe-inspiring and sturdy, and he feels welcome as the aasimar sits across from him. " Anything you ask, " she says, smile warm, " I'll answer as honestly as I can. "

Curiosity, it seems, is easier to embrace than guilt.

" How did you -- know, I suppose, that this was where you were meant to be? " asks the bard after a moment. His thumbs worry one another where his hands are interlaced on the modest table. " Did Lathander tell you himself who you are, or was it more -- something you just, knew? "

"You know, I've always liked the temple in the morning." Arawn tipped his head back, watching the dawn filter through the stained glass windows. Temples held a sort of magic in the morning, a hushed stillness that Arawn loved.

Maybe it was the Dawnfather's presence, Lathander rising to greet a new day. "It's peaceful. Things are so rarely peaceful anymore, you know?"

Sandrine not only has experience intimidating others -- she has often relied on it as a tool to get done what she needs to get done. But it's been some time since she's wandered this far from her new home, and the other woman's timidity is a good, clear reminder that there's a time and place for her usual bluntness. Sandrine does her best to let her posture relax, her constant wariness dull a little -- just enough to project less of an aura of menace, unintentional as it is, without letting her guard down entirely.

She is patient as she listens, glancing around when necessary to make sure the perimeter around the campsite it safe, but not enough to cause alarm if she can help. The other woman looks -- maybe soft isn't the best word, but she doesn't mean it cruelly, even in thought. She simply notes the gentleness of her voice, the way she takes to light, careful coloration.

( of course, that means nothing about one's true power, their intentions; Sandrine almost smiles, the image of her wife coming to her easy as a heartbeat. )

❝ Apologies, ❞ she says, the lilt of her voice careful and low. ❝ That's not what I meant. I was investigating claims of a monster here.
