First Halloween(One-Shot)
“Are we really going to the party dressed like those Kokiri people, Zel?”
Halloween in Castle City was not something Link had ever really cared to participate in. Even with the persuasion of his new girlfriend, Zelda, he shunned the idea of putting on comical costumes for a night.
“Of course we are! Now, come on out of the fitting room so I can see that nice green garb I picked out for you. I need to see how we match.” Zelda flirtatiously said towards the tall curtain as she couldn’t help but peek at Link’s feet as he shuffled to put the costume boot covers on.
“But do I have toooooo come out and show you in front everyone? Why can’t you just take my word for it Zel?”
Zelda looked around at the half empty Happy Mask Halloween store. She was able to get Link out of school early to help her pick up some “supplies” for her lab experiment. Link wasn’t much of a person for academics, so any excuse he had to limit his amount of time in the classroom was welcomed.
“Oh Link, there are hardly any people shopping right now. It’s one in the afternoon, remember? I, your wonderful, smart, funny, kind, and not to mention drop dead gorgeous girlfriend was able to get you out of your equine science class.” Zelda replied in a very sarcastic manner.
On the other side of the curtain, Link couldn’t help but smile. Out of all of the self-compliments Zelda just gave herself, ‘drop dead gorgeous’ was just a wee bit of an understatement. He knows she doesn’t really believe that she’s any of those things but in reality she was all of them, and more.
“Hey, you know that’s one of the classes I can actually tolerate Zel. Why couldn’t we have gone during my ‘Rupees and Taxes’ class?”
“Stop procrastinating on showing me your costume Link! I want to see the cute little red belt on you.”
He looked at himself one more time in the fitting room mirror before pulling back the curtains and making the big reveal. In her eyes anyway.
“LINK. HOW CUTEEEE!” She shrieked and was sure to attract the few people’s attention that were in the store. She looked at him up and down and motioned for him to turn in a circle. Link bashfully obliged while she pulled out her iSlate to take a picture.
“Hey now! I didn’t agree to take any pictures in this silly get up!” Link knew that it was a losing battle and gave in to just stand there and have Zelda perform her make-shift photoshoot. They had only been officially dating for a few weeks but he has known this very persistent side of her since they became friends in their freshman year.
“Okay now that I’ve finished taking pictures of you…for now…lets take a selfie, ok?”
She stood beside him and he put his arm around the girl he could have only had been so lucky to encounter in any other timeline of his life. Zelda pulled her phone out and said “Okay Link, say Octorok!”
But before he could say anything, she turned and gently kissed him. He heard the iSlate snap the candid moment and he couldn’t help but just stare at her and smile.
No matter how embarrassed Link was, he knew that the girl in his arm would make Halloween one to remember.

Max's favourite video game of all time is The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. She and Chloe had so much with this game - from exploring Pirate Ships, Pirate Ghost Ships, to exploring the endless Sea together riding The King of Red Lions. They both LOVED the Pirate Captain Tetra, her brave, sassy, and strong willed personality actually reminded Max a lot of Chloe.
She and Chloe spent hours together exploring the sea and the islands. She remembers how she would freak out whenever the big cyclone appeared and Chloe had to be brave for both of them and sail them past it. Max also remembers freaking out whenever the Big Octos would out of nowhere pull you into their whirlpools. Chloe had to take over the controller to fight them. And sometimes they both freaked out and got scared, like during the Earth Temple (the screams they made during that Temple, what with the ghosts and zombies everywhere, had sent William running into the room in a panic once thinking something had happened to them), The Pirate Ghost Ship, when Hyrule came unfrozen to dozens of enemies or the Phantom Ganon Fight. The game could be so scary, the bosses so heart pounding to fight, the enemies so scary (the sound of the Wizzrobe’s laugh alone had always scared them before it suddenly appeared sending fire at them before vanishing - they’d always start freaking out wondering where it would appear next) the puzzles so hard (the mirror/light reflecting puzzles in the Earth Temple ohmygod!) but they loved it, loved freaking out together, or being brave together, being brave for the other, solving the puzzles together and most of all, exploring together.
To surprise Chloe, she ends up getting The Wind Waker HD sometime after the storm. She and Chloe love their nostalgia and it's so much fun exploring the seas together again like the total dorky nerdy pirates they are - and this time, Max is much braver and stronger than ever! They've survived their own storm - they are the most fearless pirates in all of Hyrule - no the world now! Ganon better bow to them this time. Max and Chloe are sailing again as Captain Bluebeard and Long Max Silver - and they are afraid of no one! Not even the Savage Labyrinth scares them now! Bring it the HELLA on!! Bring it ALL the HELLA on!
The music is just beautiful too, Max has always loved it, the music and visuals taking you into a whole other world (made even more breathtaking in the HD remake). She also loves how the game even lets you take pictures with a Camera called the Picto Box. Max had loved using the camera as a kid and now as an adult she had totally lost it and nerded out about how the camera now had a selfie feature. They put that in for your dorky ass. Chloe had said, laughing. It's so ridiculously fun experiencing this game with Chloe again, reliving their childhood but creating all these new memories together.
Oh and they also both admit they maybe were kinda crushing on Tetra a bit as kids. And Max admits Tetra probably being so like Chloe maybe had something to do with her own crush!

Gaps Between Worlds || Live, Love, Link
Nothing keeps a story going like a love interest. In almost every adventure story, at some point, the hero flirts with love, falls into it, is blinded by it, or is even betrayed by it. Love is the strongest emotional connection we share as humans, a double edged sword that can drive us, but also hinder us. Even when a story lacks a love interest, the listeners might begin to imagine one just to keep themselves interested. One adventure series has lacked cannon love for such a long time, it's hard to imagine how it’s been kept alive in our collective consciousness for as long as it has. The Legend of Zelda has jump-cut to Link saving Zelda so many times, but remains nebulous on what kind of relationship blossoms from their journey. As a longtime fan, I have been starving for more from the world of Hyrule, and I think fans across the world agree with me. The official Nintendo Hyrule Timeline wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for pressure from the fans. Before that release, it had been locked inside the mind of Miyamoto, creator of the series. But it didn’t really whet my appetite, because what I wanted is to know of Link and Zelda. Today, we are going to explore the facets of Link and Zelda’s many re-incarnated relationships, which could have turned into love, and where they must have gone after Gannon was sealed and their adventure came to an end.
Before we go any further, the usual caveats to my writing, just so you can get where my head is at. First, I am not going to be super concerned with minute details of the timeline in its purest sense. It has a tenuous linear connection from one game to the next, but it still can provide a little fun for us to speculate on. Second, I have completed every mainline adventure with two exceptions. I have made it to the end of Link’s Adventure and Twilight Princess, but I just never walked up those steps to beat Gannon. I can’t really put my finger on why, but usually I just lost interest by the time I made it to the end of the game. Everything else, including the GB, GBA, and DS releases, I have completed.
In the beginning, one of the most bizarre parts of the overall Zelda lore is how little we actually discuss Link’s obligation to do anything for Zelda. As the games mature, they motivate Link in more realistic ways, but I felt that they mostly lacked a real punch. Lets imagine you DID NOT read the manual for the NES titles, the original LoZ, it just starts by breaking the 4th wall. I always thought it was funny that it just drops you into the mountains with absolutely no direction, as if to say, “You bought the game, dummy, do something! Press a button… ooo… check out that cave!” However, what actually happens is Link saves Zelda’s handmaid, Impa, from an attack by some of Gannon’s henchmen. She then begs him to find the 8 fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, which Zelda has hidden in 8 dungeons, and he just resolves to do it. In the next game though, she’s just struck with Sleepy Disney Princess disease. Classic. But have you ever noticed that true love’s kiss wasn’t an option here? That’s because Link is not her true love in this incarnation, so he has to kill the curse maker. LoZ and Link’s Adventure are directly related, so we know that in between the two games, they never became lovers. And I don’t know if you need any more proof about these games, but if you ever watched the 80’s Zelda cartoon… you’d know she’s better off.
Climbing up this timeline, we end up at the incredible Link To The Past, a story that’s titular description kind of defies its storyline unless you are really paying attention. Either way, the game has Link, a descendant of Hyrule Knights, being woken up by a psychic message from Zelda. As usual, Link has no real discernible parentage, but he does start off with an uncle. As I grew up, I often wondered if this was his real uncle or the Asian kind of uncle, just an older man with the same familial distance as an actual uncle, just not actually related. (It goes without saying that the west has this kind of uncle as well, but rarely does it rear its head as ubiquitously as in the east) Who knows what happened to his parents, the game never really goes into it. Either way, he runs into his possibly real uncle after following Zelda’s request, only, he is mortally wounded, and with his final breath, he begs Link to take up his blade and his responsibility. Again, he is motivated simply by some sense of obligation, but there is never a moment's glance of flirtation or love. By the end of the game, he revives his Uncle, the Priest, and the King, only to get on a boat and end up ship wrecked on Koholint island, where he dreams up a girl who is much more likely to become someone he could have a life with rather than Zelda.
Let’s take a quick moment to recognize Link has about 5 or 6 games that have nothing to do with his relationship to Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Majora’s Mask, and Minish Cap to name a few. In these games, it rarely meditates on his relationship to his previous adventure or the girl he left behind. Link is a very forward thinking… little boy? Adolescent? Teenager? It depends on the game. The more I think about this, maybe the more obvious it really is supposed to be. Zelda, Link, and Gannon are reborn into conflict over and over again. It’s possible that the stories that we play through are the only time they are born into a point of conflict. Basically, Link and Zelda might be born into a world without each other. Maybe the world only falls into chaos when all 3 of them are born. Maybe only when a certain amount of power accumulates on the dark side. The story just makes room for whatever it finds appropriate.
Climbing up the timeline, we get to the only game that implied young romance, Ocarina Of Time. Granted, it kind of dashes this with Majora’s Mask, but it's possible he could return to Hyrule for love. He is only 10. Still, in OoT, Link is the only character that keeps his memory of both the young timeline and the teen timeline. When you think about it, Link is pretty mature for a 10 year old, but waking up in the body of a 17 year old would throw you a bit. People in the future might have found him odd… if they weren’t scattered to the winds and mostly worried about famine, death, and Gannon. In both his young and teen timeline, the Zora princess is very interested in him, and yet, the game still ends with a longing look between Zelda and Link, Link remembering everything, Zelda new to the whole thing. Now, I am willing to admit that as a kid, I probably misread this as a longing look, as an adult, it's really just the culmination of Link’s struggle to finally right all the wrongs, but I was a young shipper, and I wanted everyone to fall in love. (You are reading the thoughts of a boy who was super upset that Ash wasn’t awakened by a kiss from Misty (or Pikachu), and instead the tears of all the Pokemon. I almost walked out of the theater. I was a fresh-faced 13.) Given everything we know about both games, and that we know the timeline splits here, it would stand to reason that since in either case, triumphant or not, Link doesn’t end up making baby Link and Linkles with Zelda. In the Triumphant Timeline Child Era, none of the games end with Link in love, including Twilight Princess. In the Adult Era, the Wind Waker series of games always finds Link closely aligned with Zelda, but the whole cell-shaded, PG universe basically ensures that all the people of Hyrule are grown out of the ground, like palm trees on the beach. In the end, Link always makes for the nearest boat or horse and follows the sun, trying to escape the PTSD that haunts him.
Finally, at the very beginning of the timeline is the largely maligned Skyward Sword. As of this writing, SS is the supposed beginning to the entire legend. It is also one of the few games where there does seem to be an infatuation between Zelda and Link. Throughout the game, they share what looks to be a mild flirtation. When I thought about this budding romance, I began to think it only appears that way because of some cultural filters. First, Nintendo likes to make games for kids, so they aim to get an E rating by the ESRB. So if we ratchet that up to M, the standard for modern day games if you want people to take them seriously, we can adjust the love meter on scale with E = Sesame Street and M = Breaking Bad. They might as well be engaging in some hard sexting, maybe a couple of low-cut Link bathroom mirror selfies. Don’t worry, he has his famous hat over the goods. Why do you think its shaped like that? Secondly, mild flirting in Japan is the equivalent of hardcore furry S&M in America. In actuality, what you are really seeing is the courtship of Link in a Wolf costume and Zelda dressed as a Fire Keese batting eyes at each other. Truly, in this world, Link and Zelda are destined for each other. They are the only freaks in the sky! With this assumption, I can conclude that the legend only continues because once, at the very beginning of their timeline, the Triforce of Courage and Wisdom banged it out. This could mean there is a whole series of games we have never played where the timeline is split at the top. One in which they have children and one where they don’t. Personally, I look forward to their kids journey in The Legend of Steve, the new holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Let a girl save the boy for once!
There is always hope for our legendary heroes. You may not want them to be joined in glorious, child-making coitus, but I always have. I have always found it odd that it doesn’t end like most JRPG’s with a very obvious death of the “mains” so that love can’t blossom, or with a lavish royal wedding. The worst part is that often, Link has many love interests, but none of them are Zelda. There is some hope for them in the new Breath of the Wild timeline, which is supposedly the furthest in the future of the “official” timeline, so much so that there is no connective tissue left, so it might as well be a “new beginning”. I would actually hate for them to finally, really, fall in love in the BotW universe, mostly because it's my least favorite Zelda game of all time, squeaking past Skyward Sword and Wind Waker. All 3 of which I dislike for a combination of gameplay-style and story, though honestly, the best part of BotW is the story. It's just a game I never want to play again. Rambling aside, I look forward to the fate of love between Zelda and Link in their next chapter. Maybe we’ll finally play as their love child some day.

– ten / Inspiration for Muse: BOY, uh. Let’s see. Rosa was very very loosely inspired by another character of mine from WoW, Rosalinde. Development led in a very different direction between them, and now they’re almost nothing alike, lmao. She has bits of inspiration from anime characters like Usagi (Sailor Moon), Tohru (Fruits Basket), and Yona (Akatsuki no Yona). The kind-hearted ones with unyielding spirit suit her well.
Incidentally, her current IC circumstances kind of mirror Sixth Saint Astraea from Demon Souls as well, which I wasn’t familiar with until I saw tags on a reblog of one of my recent photosets. So that was cool to learn as well!
– eleven / Dream Job: That’s a bit of a sore spot, right there. There was a time I really wanted to pursue voice-acting, and I had even gotten started in that direction, enrolled in a community college and everything. But family circumstances and other things going on at the time prevented me from continuing. There are other things that really interest me too, like photography, cultural research, and archaeology, but there’s another slew of brick walls there, namely mental health and financial limitations. So I’m unsure what’s in my reach nowadays.

No but really, I understand having fun speculating about what she has coming up next and that is great for Lili fans but PFW is really not the end all be all guys. Break The Ice
Characters: AJ Styles x Kenny Omega
Summary: After being single for a long period of time, AJ finally decides to listen to his friend’s advice and gives the dating scene a try. He just wasn’t expecting the first time to be in a place like this. Or with the same sex, for that matter.
Warnings: m/m sex, and um.. not really anything to be warned about. Maybe just a whole lotta smut, language, and bad writing. This is also kind of an A/U fic, meaning no wrestling related stuff will be involved. Also stating the obvious that if you don’t like slash pairings.. look away!!

The bright city lights were certainly a sight to behold, and it’s something he would never get sick of. He loved this city, and he’s only been here for a couple of weeks. The food, the culture, and especially the gaming shops and arcades– are what he found most enjoyable during his stay. He relaxed himself onto the bed shortly after returning from having dinner with his friends, gazing out the large hotel window that overlooked the beautiful Tokyo, Japan. It was truly mesmerizing, and yet…
AJ Styles was already bored.
For the first time since his arrival he’d already got sick of the usual routine. He was usually a homebody, more of a private person if you will, and yet for some reason he wanted to get out and do some more exploring. A lot of ideas popped into his head but he didn’t feel like doing any of it alone. He sent Karl a text and asked if he was up for a few rounds.
AJ: Lets go find a pub or somewhere to hang out and talk. I’m bored.
Karl: Sorry, Hoot. I’m hanging with the wife atm. Did you ask Luke?
AJ: No reply from him. You guys suck.
Karl: What did I tell you before? Make a damn Tinder and find someone. It’s about time your grumpy ass did.
AJ rolled his eyes and sighed. He’d only heard of Tinder because of his dumb friend and he thought the idea of it was stupid. To him the site seemed like it was made for desperate people with no self esteem. But Karl might be right. Maybe he needed to hit up the dating scene even if it wasn’t anything serious (which was the last thing he wanted as he was married for almost 20 years prior). It’s not that he was afraid of it because he was always a confident type of man, it just that he’s never had the time for it. So now that he’s utterly bored and all of his work was finished he kind of had no idea how to go about it at this day and age. And after sitting around and giving it some thought after a few minutes, he decided what the hell. Why not? He was STILL bored as shit and wanted some form of entertainment even nothing came of it in the end.
He installed the app and in under a minute it was ready to go. He didn’t have many recent photos of himself from his Facebook (he never logged on much) so he decided to take a quick ‘selfie’ of himself. At first he snapped the usual and decided that one was dull. Next he snapped a photo of himself standing in the mirror, but then deleted it as he wasn’t happy with that one either and thought it looked too weird. He repeated this about ten times before he was finally satisfied with the picture he took, then wanted to laugh at himself after as he probably looked ridiculous doing it.
“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this,” AJ mused at himself, and continued to fill out the rest of his profile. There were only a few options, such as which photo you’d like use as your main feature, adding your personal interests, a “pick-up line” to which he added, “Just seeing where this takes me”.. pretty straight forward and easy stuff. And last but most important.. what sex he was interested in.
Now this is something he really had to think about for a minute. He was always into both genders, and before he got married to a woman he had his fair share of “experimenting” in high school but never really went all the way– and he sure as hell wouldn’t let it be known back then either (given as it wasn’t accepted as easily, and him playing on the football team being a contributing factor). But as he thought about it a little more, he was definitely willing to be open to it again. Because really, there was no big deal to it. So with one final tap to his profile, he set his preferences to Female and Male. Maybe he will find more friends this way if dating doesn’t go the way he wanted it to. And getting to know more people was something AJ wouldn’t actually mind either since Karl and Luke were being asses right now.
Thirty minutes rolled by and so far there wasn’t any success. He had about eighteen potential matches and none of them spoke English. And when he did come across someone who was Caucasian, she was from France and couldn’t speak it very well either. AJ was about to give up until someone else caught his eye.
Kenny. 31 years old. Canada, is what was in the description. They also had some matching interests, and many of them at that. Although much younger he wasn’t bad looking either. Curly blonde hair, blue eyes, cute smile– hell, he was even wearing a lime green shirt with the Legend Of Zelda written across it. A little geeky looking but that didn’t matter. AJ didn’t hesitate to swipe right on the profile and soon after was done with it as he wasn’t gonna attempt to find anyone else again. He tossed his phone onto the bed beside as he opened up a bottle of water and took a quick swig from it. And only seconds after his phone dinged and he opened up his notifications to see who it was.
Its a Match!
AJ’s interest in this was now more at peak. He wasn’t expecting a match so quickly but then again he wasn’t complaining either. Soon after messages were being exchanged and AJ’s night was about to get more interesting.
AJ: How it’s going tonight?
K: Hey! Not too bad. Just getting ready actually. How are you?
AJ: Bored as hell! And getting ready huh? Big plans tonight?
K: Nothing too special. I’m going to a little bar I like to frequent on the weekends. It’s not everyday I come across a cute guy from America on here!
AJ couldn’t help but chuckle at that. It certainly was different to get a compliment like that from another man, but nonetheless he still really appreciated it. That made him feel good.
AJ: I could say the same. So far tonight I’ve had no luck on this thing lol! I’ll let you finish what you’re doing.
K: If you’re still bored within the hour, why don’t you come join me? I’ll be at The 505 and it’s only a few blocks down from where I stay so it won’t be hard to find.
He stared at Kenny’s reply for a minute before coming to a final decision. He’s never done this before in his life. And he was now contemplating on whether he should meet a complete stranger or not. But it was in a public setting and the night wasn’t growing any younger. He thought to himself to hell with it and decided why not. According to the app Kenny was less than 2 miles away from him so it’s not like he was about to get lost or kidnapped for that matter.
AJ: I’ll be there.
And with that the date was on. He received a response only seconds after, a single smiley emoticon and AJ was starting to get excited for this. He wondered what he should wear and suddenly felt like he was 17 again. Trying on different outfits and he wasn’t sure what would be appropriate for a bar. He was very limited on clothing and dressed mostly for comfort or working out, but he finally did decide on a blue mid-sleeved plaided shirt, a pair of jeans, and as usual included the sterling silver necklace he always loved to wear. Before taking one last glance in the mirror as he was happy with the way he looked, so he undressed again and headed for the shower.

11:00pm rolled around as AJ arrived to his destination. He took in his surroundings and noticed that where he was wasn’t just “some little bar” but it almost seemed like a nightclub. The lineup to get in wasn’t too bad, so it wasn’t a very long wait before he got inside the building. It was dark and the only source of lighting came from the stairway that headed into the basement. There was a man at the bottom who scanned his I.D. and he didn’t complain one bit at that, paid for the small cover charge, and he was allowed through the doorway.
Yeah, this was definitely NOT just a bar. It was a nightclub. And a gay one at that. The place was also pretty huge and wondered how he would find anybody here. AJ pulled out his phone and saw that he had a message waiting from Kenny, and said that if he was there he would have table 14 reserved for them. “Where the hell would that be?” He muttered to himself as he began to take in his surroundings. This place was pretty wild. Pink florescent lights filled the entire dance floor, the music was sort of a mix between J-pop and House, and both the waitresses and waiters all wore the same white lingerie with bunny ears on top of their heads. Luckily one of them who spoke English came along to assist AJ in finding his table, which was empty when he got there so he ordered a drink and waited for his date to arrive. The club slowly began to fill up with more patrons as he tapped along the glittery tabletop nervously. He really hasn’t done this in years. And he also felt ridiculous being there as he was very underdressed compared to most of the people here.
He messaged Kenny one more time to let him know that he just got to his table. As soon as he sent the text he looked up and noticed that a younger man was watching him from the bar. Smiling at AJ, he began to strut toward him with a drink in his hand. The man was wearing dark sunglasses, a black pair of leather pants, a long leather coat, a pair of matching gloves, and no shirt underneath. He clinked the glasses together. “To a fun night, with a fun guy.” Kenny took his shot like a pro and licked his lips. AJ took his shot, enjoying the lemonade, sour flavour.
Kenny thanked her in Japanese and AJ continued on with the conversation, he had a feeling that this night was about to get interesting. “Actually, you look better than the pictures. I was pretty certain I was gonna ditch the other guy and go for you instead,” he mused. Kenny bit his lip in response and held his right hand out toward AJ. “I’ll be sure to let him know. I’m Kenny. And I must say that you’re also quite the looker in person,” he winked as he introduced himself again, biting his straw in the process. What a little fucking tease. They both took their second shots and soon after noticed Kenny might have been checking him out again. AJ’s heart began to race. It felt like it was his very first date all over again, and despite his nerves this little get together so far was very enjoyable.
The night went on and Kenny was everything AJ had hoped for him to be. The conversations started out as small talk, and as the drinks began to kick in the outright flirting returned as the main interest again. “So please, please explain to me as to why you’re single again?” Kenny asked, taking a sip of his Long Island. “I don’t get it. Hello! And welcome to this week’s WIP Wednesday post!
I struggled a bit, but I think I have what I want for my last piece of the hair assignment. A magpie taking a selfie. It’s taking it in front of the mirror so you can see the back of the head. That will give me enough to practice painting hair, I think. I made a few magpie studies too, to be familiar with the anatomy.
The new Zelda’s almost here! :D Haven’t got any notifications of my game being shipped, but I hope I get one soon. I also have to get my pre-ordered Switch from a different store but I have to wait until they say it’s available for pick-up. The hype is giving me a headache!
