ZEKE’S MESSIAH COMPLEX

messiah complex is a condition where someone believes and thinks they are responsible of saving and assisting someone.

just like Zeke, which goal and desperate dream was always to save his little brother Eren and his people.“we are both victims of that father of ours, someday i’ll come back and save you”.

this one specific sentence says it all about him, he has always been looking for someone to share his pain and scars with, to fill his inner void of loneliness, he thought Eren felt the same way as himself and he wanted to save him.

Zeke doesnt seen any point and meaning in life, thats why the euthanasia plan, was according to him the only solution and way to free and save his people from the eternal loop of suffering caused by being born. 

however, although in the end he regretted killing all those people, he still says to Mr. Ksaver: “i still think the euthanization plan was the right choice, but if it meant getting to play catch with you again, i figured i wouldnt mind living again”.

zeke tried to hold back tears til the last moment thats why he always tells eren “next memory” like “this isn’t important lets skip it”except when he saw grisha recognizing him, he was completely stunned and in that moment it was eren who had to tell him “zeke, next memory” because he was stuck due to his last hope of grisha loving him so he didnt want to move from that memory

zeke: “dad i dont wanna be a soldier i wanna play baseball”

grisha: “nuh uh”

i think zeke and mikasa have something in common, you see, mikasa freaked out when she saw lousie using her scarf, even though she was dying, just like zeke freaked out when he realized he lost ksaver’s glasses after fighting with levi i think they both have some kind of strong and special attachment towards their loved ones’s gifts, no matter how small or banal they might look to others, both zeke and mikasa will always take dear care of that gift for their entire life, which is exactly what they both did with Ksaver’s glasses and Eren’s scarf
