˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ KIM YUNHEE - (TW, DEATH) - was born on October 8th, 1997 in Suwon-Si, South Korea. Her childhood was that of most, a good one with nothing much out of the ordinary, a normal life with a few bumps in the road and that was all. This was until her great-grandfather died a few months after her 10th birthday. Yunhee’s great-grandfather had left her a large sum of money for her to use when she was of legal age, so for now, this money belonged to her mother. Instead of saving the money and mourning their loss, Yunhee’s mother decided to push her into modeling immediately, in attempt to double the money they already owned.
She had no choice but to comply and spent a good few years modeling instead of taking important exams and tests. Yunhee struggled a lot in school but managed to narrowly pass with average grades and that was when she realized that she had no career path after she had just quit modeling permanently. Obviously, Yunhee had no plans of going back to modeling but wanted a similar job that didn’t need perfect grades. So, she decided to audition for Melody Media because of a random flyer she saw when walking home and managed to secure a spot in the company. In 2019, Yunhee debuted as the Leader & Main Vocalist of Hashtag.

˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ REIKO HIROTA, born in Sapporo, Japan, had always been very into ballet when she was growing up and was extremely interested when she found out that there was a ballet studio just two streets away from her house but her Father had never approved of her interest and advised her to join the School’s Science Club instead, so she could possibly end up being a scientist or a doctor, like he was. In secret, Reiko’s Mother decided to enroll her into a few ballet classes as an attempt to make her daughter happy, and obviously, it worked.
She continued to do ballet until her Father found out a few years later but this time, Reiko stood her ground and refused to quit. Because of this decision, she went on to be a professional ballerina and was extremely popular before her debut. In 2018, Reiko suddenly stopped performing and was revealed to have quit, joining an unknown company at the time which was later revealed to be Melody Media. In early 2019 it was announced that she would be debuting in Hashtag as their Lead Dancer & Lead Rapper. The reason behind why Reiko quit ballet is still unknown as she refused to mention it in any interviews over the years.

˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ YOO ANNIE, Who was born in California, USA, found growing up in her family very difficult. She was born into a quite wealthy family but her parents never spent much time looking after her and her siblings, Milo, Melanie, Audrey & Bonnie so they mostly raised themselves. They never spent time together as a family, and soon enough, their Mother decided she couldn’t stand living like that and took off one day without telling anyone, leaving her children deserted. Things continued to be the same and nothing changed despite the loss of a mother figure, they were still both being ignored by the only parent they had left, their father.
Annie decided that she had to take care of things herself, despite being one of the youngest of the family and convinced her siblings to speak to their Aunt and ask to move in with her. Luckily, their Aunt agreed and the five siblings left her father to live with their aunt in South Korea for the next four years. Annie lived peacefully in Korea and enjoyed life until she was scouted, along with Bonnie and Melanie, after leaving one of their performances since all three were interested in making solo music and performing at that time. Melody Media were extremely impressed with Annie’s skills and didn’t bother asking her for an audition, Annie was already accepted as a trainee and later debuted in Hashtag as the Center & Main Vocalist.

˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ JANG MINSEO, Who was living in Daejeon, South Korea, had always liked the idea of cameras when she was a small child but the desperation to be in front of that camera didn’t start until she was in her early teens. Her home life was steady, and she received the most love a child could get from having no other siblings to share her parents with. It wasn’t until one of her friends from school suggested she should try out streaming or something digital to earn a little bit of money when hanging out together that Minseo first entertained the idea of an online career. At first, she gained mediocre attention, but when she switched her focus to more interesting topics, her popularity sky-rocketed.
Mainly, Minseo played horror games on live and her reactions gained her the most attention but every once in a while she’d make awfully blunt comments and videos based around certain idols. She never named them but fans started to make speculations of who she was talking about in each video after she debuted. All her accounts and videos have since been deleted prior to her debut as Hashtag’s Lead Dancer and Main Rapper but clips of Minseo’s controversial lives still circulate the internet and its many platforms.

˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ TSAI MEILING, Much like Yoora and Minseo, was sure that she was going to be a popular name when she was an adult, no matter what obstacle she would have to face. Born in the capital city of Taiwan, Tsai Meiling was a quiet person, never really having many friends at school and always choosing to rely on herself and herself only. She just wanted to get through school and at least attempt to do well, but during high school, Meiling gave up and neglected her studies.
In January of 2019, Meiling decided that she would audition to the company closest to her house, which was Melody Media. Surprisingly, she passed and was taken in as a trainee. However, Meiling was known for being the worst behaved trainee under Melody Media due to her rude comments and manipulative personality. She was still added to the lineup of Hashtag immediately despite these claims and debuted in August of 2019, as the group’s Rapper and Sub Vocalist.

˖   ࣪ ⋆ ᝰ IM YOORA had always dreamed of being on a big stage, whether it was acting or being an idol, she knew she wanted to be in front of crowds of people. However, she would first have to focus on her education to make this dream a reality. Her parents were quite strict when it came to her future and her grades, two of the most important things in both her and her parents life.
Yoora didn’t do as well as she hoped for on her final exam, diminishing any of her parents hopes for her to do well in the future. Somehow, they eventually approved of Yoora’s 'big dream' and helped her audition for multiple entertainment companies. She failed most auditions and miserably went back to studying until she got an email that invited her to audition for Melody Media. She passed this audition and debuted as Hashtag’s Main Dancer and Lead Rapper.

Bongwan, who runs a small publishing house in Seoul, wakes up early, very early this morning. Why is that so? To his wife who asks him for an explanation, Bongwan answers only elusively. He then sets off for work and while walking through the dark streets, he thinks of the woman who left him a month before. Later on, at the office, he meets Areum, his new secretary, a pretty young woman who takes on her first day of work. Meanwhile, at home, Bongwan’s wife discovers a love poem written by him. She sees red and rushes like a fury into the publishing office. Mistaking poor Areum for her husband’s mistress, she physically attacks her.

Hilarious over the top performance maybe unintentional but still so fun to watch, and of course Kim Minhee just floats on her cloud, is anyone more badass than her

The Day After (Geu-hu)
BBB (out of 5) A charming slice of life from the masterful Hong Sang-Soo, this delicate tale in a minor key revolves around the erotic complications of a middle-aged book publisher.  After telling his wife that he has no reason to be on a diet and that her observation of his improved looks do not at all mean that he’s having an affair, we witness his spending evenings at dinner with the volatile…

The guardians welcome [CHO, GOWON] to the city of Jeonseol. She is [GIFTED] currently living in [PERIDOT] and working at/as [A SECRETARY AT JEONSEOL UNI]
Welcome to Mirage! Please follow the admin twitter within 48 hours of acceptance, or your faceclaim will be freed up.
Faceclaim: Pony
Name: Cho Gowon
Nickname(s): Gogo, Wonnie
Age: 20
Date of birth: December 31, 1999
Species/myth/cryptid/etc:
Gifted.
She, along with her sisters, are telepathic who share a hive mind-like connection. Once all together, they are able to read each other’s minds and project their thoughts out to others. They also have the ability to control minds, induce pain, and influence the mindset of others to produce a series of illusory psychometric actions.
Weaknesses:
Their powers are not quick and if they are being physically attacked, they cannot summon their powers so easily. If one member of the hive differ too much from the others members, the connection weaken.
Residence: Peridot 008
Occupation: Secretary @ Jeonseol University
Personality:
Gowon is a crafty but sneaky individual who easily uses her powers to manipulate those around her. She is also quite impatient as she consistently spoke against waiting and planning for caution. She is also quite underhanded. Gowon has proven herself to be somewhat bloodthirsty.
Gowon and her sisters have a tendency to speak in unison, allowing each other to take over with the conversation randomly as they talk together. They are also strategic and cold-blooded.
According to an old doctor in a interview Gowon is the peacekeeper between Chaeyoung and Eunbi. Despite initial belief, Gowon doesn’t appear to be as cold-hearted as many presumed. She has shown more hesitation in killing than her sisters.
Gowon has shown on numerous occasions to be far more sympathetic than her sisters.
Background:
Gowon was one of five mutant clones created by a lab funded by Creed Financial. For years, Gowon and her sister clones were instructed to use their telepathic abilities in service of the lab’s agenda. During these “exercises”, two of the sisters were left behind as leverage to coerce the other three into complying.
When the sisters were 13 years old, Gowon, Eunbi, and Chaeyoung were ordered to extract information from the mind of a captured gifted. After they completed this task, Gowon and her sisters decided to turn against their captors and used their powers to orchestrate a brutal slaughter. However, they were unable to save their sisters Mina and Yunhee, who were killed by shocks generated by the inhibitor collars on their necks. Gowon, Chaeyoung, and Eunbi felt the agony of their sisters’ death, and at some point after this incident, they joined the Devil’s Club.
Gowon, using the fake name Macy, went undercover as a staff member for a politician during one of his rallies. She asked him if she could attend some of the meetings along with him, and he agreed.
After he went back talking to his campaign manager, Gowon was interrupted by a telepathic warning from her sisters, Chaeyoung and Eunbi, who told her to get out of there, as the SS had arrived at the rally looking for them. Gowon ran outside and into the crowd, trying to escape as her sisters continued to yell at her telepathically in unison.
Gowon managed to escape successfully however her sisters weren’t so lucky in that regard, sending out a telepathic message for her to find them. Gowon knew she couldn’t do that on her own, so she arrived to Jeonseol to find help.
Any wanted connections?:

The Day After
Tumblr media
With the uninspired pity party comedy "The Day After," self-lacerating Korean dramatist Sang-soo Hong continues a trend towards un-productive self-loathing that began last year with the half-empty "On the Beach At Night Alone" and continued with the half-full "Claire's Camera." All three films are reminiscent of Hong's superior earlier work in that they all show the world through a unimaginatively self-critical lens: a libido-alcohol-and-spite-driven artist is inevitably dumped and/or eclipsed by a free-spirited woman who, after being unwittingly dragged into his orbit, is too smart to stay there. The key difference between these Hong's superior earlier work and his recent American releases—Hong has already made at least one more film—is that his newer films cut deeply into the egos of Hong's surrogates for the sake of making a facile point: the gift of self-awareness is wasted on people who aren't strong enough to do something about it.
"The Day After" is more of the same from Hong ("The Day He Arrives," "Ha Ha Ha"), only repackaged in a more conventional narrative. It is, in this sense, more accessible than either of his other recent American releases. But the main pleasure of watching a Hong film comes from noting the way his stories subtly mutate and change before your eyes. Viewers recognize narrative patterns while also acknowledging little variations in familiar tropes, themes, and characters.
In "The Day After," Hong's surrogate is boorish book publisher Bongwan (Haehyo Kwon) is introduced to us through a disorienting series of narrative false starts. Bongwan is immediately kicked out of his comfort zone after he, in a four-minute introductory long take, is confronted by his unhappy wife Haejoo (Yunhee Cho). This is the best scene in the film because it's the most alienating: just four uninterrupted minutes of unyielding deflections from Kwon as he refuses to outright answer his character's wife when she repeatedly asks: are you seeing another woman?
Bongwan goes for a walk following this non-starter of a confrontation, and his mind wanders with him. He visits his meek lover Changsook (Saebyuk Kim) and then imagines (or perhaps recalls?) a scene on the bus where he and Changsook are holding each other's hands. Then he goes to work, where he welcomes under-developed heroine Areum (Minhee Kim), his new assistant. But Haejoo soon barges in and accuses Areum of being her husband's mistress (mostly because Changsook was, until recently, Bongwan's assistant). A typically cringe-worthy confrontation ensues, but Areum shrugs it off. Still, it soon becomes clear that Haejoo isn't going anywhere. Bongwan, on some level, knows that he must make a decision, a conclusion that is only confirmed by a philosophical lunchtime conversation that he and Areum have that give him more questions to answer like: is Bongwan brave enough to commit to his ideals, or will he continue to accept an unhappy status quo because cynicism is easier than a little discomfort? (more on this conversation shortly)
At this point, Hong's narrative becomes a kind of self-conscious arthouse soap opera. He recycles the same musical cue three or four times, always when a character is on the verge of a breakthrough. But there is no resolution in sight for Bongwan since he refuses to make one for himself. Every so often, you'll hear a tinny synthesizer playing the same strain of music, as if sampling a missing track from Angelo Badalamenti's "Twin Peaks" score. But unlike Badalamenti's music, Hong's music cue only deflates the melodramatic elements on-screen. The music plays while characters cry, turn their back on each other, and walk away. But then the music eventually fades out, and normal life resumes.
But so what? Why is this personal art—Hong is, in real life, having a highly-publicized affair with Minhee Kim—necessarily good? As usual, Hong's actors deliver believably awkward performances. But the film's naturalistic rhythm and gorgeous black-and-white photography don't add much depth to an inherently soapy plot. If anything, Bongwan's stasis is an artistic feint akin to the kid who writes an essay or poem about his writer's block: it's a cop-out, but it's done with a wink, so it's ostensibly OK. Hong even acknowledges this when Areum and Bongwan most clearly articulate their temperamental differences during the above-mentioned lunchtime conversation. Bongwan, now jaded, desperately asks Areum how she could be so optimistic. "I just try" she replies. "I know I should believe, so I do." She is pure in his eyes, so she wins Hong's unbeatable game by forfeiting. I'd advise Hong fans to do the same, and just wait for his next effort, which will probably be out in a couple of months.

Official US Trailer for Hong Sang-soo's Romantic Drama 'The Day After'
"Why do you keep lying?" Cinema Guild has released the official US trailer for one of the latest films from prolific Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, this one titled The Day After. This premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year. Those who know Hong Sang-soo know he's always making new films. He premiered another one at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, titled Grass, and released two others in the last few years including Claire's Camera and On the Beach at Night Alone. The Day After tells the story of a married man struggling with an affair who just left him. His wife suspects something, and attacks his innocent new secretary. It "begins as a darkly hilarious look at a man embroiled in extramarital entanglements but soon shifts - in a way only Hong can manage - into a heartfelt portrayal of a young woman on a quest for spiritual fulfillment." Starring Yunhee Cho, Ki Joabang, Min-hee Kim, Sae-byeok Kim, and Hae-hyo Kwon. ›››
