Propaganda: love a good f/f rarepair and also two powerful ladies. aileen is a model who is so good at games that kaiba decides to make her a game master, and mai is introduced as being a powerful duelist who wins a lot. they could make each other worse. | i really like them both and like to see my faves together. and i like the idea of two women who are both very independent being in a relationship together because it could be done either as a sort of rivalry romance where they're both trying to one up each other OR it could be a very soft thing where after a long day having to do everything for themselves, they have someone safe to come home to who really gets them. really depends on where in each of their stories you have them meet, i think.

How the red magician fights his counterpart but clearly envies how loyal he is to Atem, and how well Atem treats him, as opposed to Pandora who mistreates him, and then at the end, joining their side to fight alongside his counterpart and finally getting to experience the joy of helping Atems deck, themes of sacrifice and loyalty i am UNWELL | As for Dark Magician/Red Dark Magician OH BOY. There are intense parallels between the two during the duel between Yami and Pandora. They're both duel monsters who are incredibly loyal, one just happens to be in the wrong hands. Red Dark Magician wants someone to be loyal to, someone to appreciate him, and he gets used and betrayed in the end. I think RDM deserves better and be comforted by the one he was made to emulate.

Propaganda: it’s my favorite duel monsters pairing! | Atem remembers Mahads loyalty as dark magician even amesiac. Mahad dies to protect him out of love. They are still connected after death. The knight and prince dynamic is also good. In the manga Mahad's devotion is enough to fuel his Ka not just his magic. They are childhood friends in the anime. Mahad is present throughout the story and even cheats for Atem in the Pandora duel. Atem's love for him goes beyond his memories and he remembers Mahad as his best friend. It's as close to true love as you can get.

Pairing 2: Shrimpshipping (Rex Raptor|Dinosaur Ryuzaki /Weevil Underwood|Insector Haga )

Propaganda: Absolute crack and love side character/side character | I've been a fanartist for this ship on Tumblr for about 5 years now. It may not be recognized or appreciated by a large chunk of the fanbase (mostly because many people consider the characters involved majorly annoying), but it's become near and dear to my heart. Long story short, Shrimpshipping is hilarious, it's cute, and there's just enough canon moments that many people consider it an "obvious" ship all things considered. Haga and Ryuzaki, no matter how much they seem to annoy each other, are always together doing something dumb. It's the kind of pair that makes you wonder if they really do like being around each other, but are too stubborn to admit it. They've got similar motives, similar gimmicks, similar heights, they were practically written to play off each other. I could write essays, nay, I could write books. There's a small but dedicated group of folks out there that love these two dorks and see the potential they have as a romantic pair. Whatever they've got going on, at least it's funny.

Pairing 1: Twistedshipping (Shadi/Maximillon Pegasus | Pegasus J. Crawford)

Propaganda: Shadi is a grief stricken spirit with no one to talk to and Pegasus is a lonely rich boy with time & money but no one to share it with. They've both suffered heavy loss and mad terrible decisions as a result. They've hurt people and are both people who are hurting. But they wear it differently; no one can see Shadi unless he allows it but Pegasus is a public figure. He must be seen, though no one can get close without his permission. The roles they play are so important to the people who the roles serve and yet they're always at a distance from the comfort of the people. All that to say, they should get to hug and be happy. Also the fan art is just beautiful. | Pegasus lamented how his heart was like the empty canvas he toted around half the world longing to fill, then immediately painted a portrait of Shadi and hung it up next to the portrait of his deceased wife. Pegasus clearly idolized Shadi for giving him the Millennium Eye, even though Shadi showed little regard for him, probably thinking of Pegasus as just another necessary step in moving fate along. I think it’s immensely interesting to explore how they both might grow around each other, and how they might recontextualize their shared past after spending more time together. Pegasus would start to see Shadi with something other than blinding adoration, and Shadi would recognize and appreciate Pegasus as a person and not a pawn. The ship has plenty of angst, but room for hurt/comfort and character exploration. And they both at some point, in Yugioh R and Dark Side of Dimensions, adopted a bunch of orphans and took on the role of a father figure; so there’s more fluffy AU potential, too.

Propaganda: Angst- trauma buddies, potential for healing narative. | I think they could have such an interesting dynamic considering they’d be the only ones who really understand what it’s like to have such a horrible experience with their respective yamis. It could open up some interesting character growth for Marik, helping him learn to move past the guilt from his mistakes by having Ryou assure him that he isn’t mad about what happened in battle city. They also would be able to understand eachother and bond over family tragedy, it’s not talked about much but Ryous mom and sister died at some point, and then there’s Marik who also had a mother die. They generally seem like they’d be really good at comforting and empathizing with eachother due to similar situations and circumstances, it’s cool seeing them grow and cope together in fan works. They’re also really aesthetically pleasing, literally sun and moon gays.

Propaganda: Tristan’s so loyal and dependable, and he pays more attention to Ryo than probably any other character does, and it’s what Ryo needs after everything he’s been through. He’d listen if Ryo wants to talk about his troubles, he’d remember little random details about him, and he wouldn’t make a big deal about these things, but they’d mean so much to Ryo, and he’d let Tristan know how much he appreciates his efforts.  I also think it’s interesting how Ryo looks soft and gentle, but is also really strong and brave, while Tristan looks tough (and can be), but is more sensitive than he’d probably like to admit. A lot of Protectshipping fics are more about Tristan taking care of Ryo, which makes sense and I love it, but I think it’d go both ways - Ryo would want to be there for Tristan if he was going through a difficult time, and I like the idea of Tristan being able to confide in him, especially post-canon when the Ring’s gone and he’s doing better mentally. He might still have some trouble putting his feelings into words (as we saw in chapter 7), but Ryo would be patient with him and let him say whatever he needs to, and I think he’d give pretty good advice too.  I just think it has the potential to be a really tender, caring relationship, and they both deserve that. ^-^
