Kind of insane how much y'all hate queer, disabled, mentally ill adults. Especially Black and brown ones.

All this "adults who like X are creepy/ gross/disgusting" is just an excuse to hurt the most systemically vulnerable people and shame them into compliance. Shaming doesn't work on comfortable white people with stable jobs and social lives and the money to buy luxury items– they can just log off and go to a fondue party. So you just go for the people with the least socio-economic protection who depend on online communities and congratulate yourselves on your "activism" and social conscience. Even when your collateral includes people from the same minorities you're "defending".

Western leftism operates on conditional humanity and respectability politics. "We'll give a fuck about you...as long as you behave only in ways we find palatable." When we point out that punitive forms of social control always take us out first and in larger numbers, we're given to understand in no uncertain terms that we are in fact acceptable collateral in your personal social justice hero quests to "punch Nazis", "fuck the US government" and "eat the rich". All just a bunch of hyperindividualistic neoliberals resentful of being robbed of white privilege rooting around the social justice closet for cudgels that suit you.

get to know me

these are some impressively unusual questions. let's do it! thanks for tagging me @themandilorian

relationship status: in a long-term relationship. we're not married, but likely to become so soon because.... we're going to try and have a baby, and it's much easier for two women to be legal parents if you're married. i thought i was quite into marriage for a long time, and lots of my fics are about it, but it turns out when push comes to shove, i find the idea of a party full of lots of people who dont really know each other, where you're the centre of attention, and it's still kind of weird for it to be gay when you aren't a sword lesbian/bisexual of the blade... unappealing. so - i keep putting it off.

favourite colour: yellow. i think i first decided i liked this colour best in part because the company joules did some very nice mustard-yellow clothes, but also because no one else liked it, so it was a good colour to choose for games. and now i just unironically like it.

favourite food: maybe salmon sashimi. or dark chocolate - i'm the kind of person who basically thinks all sweets that aren't chocolate are ... just what you have so you dont have too much chocolate.

song stuck in your head: 'familiar' from steven universe

last thing you googled: 'surnames posh' <- i'm trying to name baz's ex boyfriends. i gave gerard the surname 'grey', because i thought... he's very similar to baz, that's the point of him, and so this is like 'pitch' ... but then i remembered the other character is called 'snow' and so 'grey' feels really weird. but i can't think of anything i like better, so currently it's still grey. we meet another of baz's boyfriends in chapter 4, and his name is tristan lloyd, which is much better. he too is posh, much to simon's disgust.

time: 22:59

dream trip: hoping to go to mexico later this year, so that's high up there. also, we watch a lot of 'strictly dumpling', and recently mike went to 'les grandes buffets' in the south of france, and it looked amazing - so planning on going there soon. and japan or thailand. i like eating food from these places, basically. that's why i'd want to go there.

last book you read: i finished the first book of 'scum villain's self saving system' today, and then went back to 'chief of staff' by gavin barwell, which is about tory politics during brexit. i sort of hate it, and what it has to say about how much time is wasted on total bullshit, but also it's interesting. slow going though, i dont read much non-fiction. only 20% through it.

last book you enjoyed reading: i really enjoyed 'scum villain' - although i would have enjoyed it EVEN more if i hadn't seen the show, so i knew most of the events. but i'm looking forward to reading the next one, which will be entirely new to me.

i also just finished 'the hourglass throne', which is the third tarot sequence book. really really like these books, great characters, found family, good plot.

last book you hated reading: i didn't hate it, but i can't be bothered to finish holly black's 'book of night', which is a shame as i really want to recapture the 'folk of the air' magic

favourite thing to cook/bake: sometimes i really love cooking and sometimes it's just time i'm spending doing something that i could be spending on something else. i order more takeway than i probably should. i like baking cakes. cakes usually taste bad if you dont make them, but if you do make them then they're almost always good.

favourite craft to do in your free time: i dont really do crafts, i feel the same way as i do about cooking, but more because you can't eat a bad painting. i write fics, if that counts.

most niche dislikes: this is my favourite question and i have no idea how to answer it. the texture of cotton wool? is that a niche dislike? stickers that have started to peel off and have attracted bits of fluff on the back, or aren't completely peeled off like on a book - i hate that.

this week i learned i can't bear the smell of snail rice noodles, but apparently this is a very common thing to dislike.

opinion on circuses, now and in history: totally bizarre question. i really respect mandy having an opinion on it. i really don't. i think i think of circuses as like a thing that i would like to like, but actually a bit like the opera, i wish there was more plot.

do you have a sense of direction, and if not what if the worst way you’ve gotten lost: i have poor sense of direction, thank goodness for google maps. the worst i've ever been lost was when i was about 17 or something and i got lost with three friends around a lake in the middle of the night, in the age when mobile phones were common but did not have GPS. i was so upset and angry about this that it became a meme amongst my friendship group, none of whom were stressed out about it. they made a film for my 20th (? maybe) birthday where they recreated the events, and how we got guided out by a man who looked like morgan freeman or something. it was kind of sweet - even though i literally hated that night.

So, I reblogged and commented on this thread here. And, sadly, I let myself get pulled into some discourse that now is starting to get hostile. Let me give you some advice:

If you want to get people to support independent creators, read classical literature, or anything of that nature...

Make recommendations! Gush about the writers/musicians that you love. What books or songs really moved you? If you can, recommend great, unknown artists from multiple genres. But for the love of mercy...

DO NOT TRY TO SHAME PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY ARE ALREADY READING OR LISTENING TO!!! Do not shame them for NOT doing the thing you wish they would do!

Seriously. One, you ARE going to come across as a stuck-up, judgmental arse. You are. Period. Second of all, people might not know where/how to find the works you think they should be interacting with. Third, unless you give them a reason to be passionate about what you're selling, they aren't going to invest time and energy into just pleasing you. I'm not out to prove myself by reading the "right" books or whatever.

Accusing people of not thinking for themselves just proves point number one and does nothing to help them get past points two and three.

I mean, the whole thing is just a mess. The op of that thread never used the word independent, just said to get off Spotify. I assumed they meant also get off Amazon and other mainstream booksellers, including the library, which, in my mind, is the most mainstream of mainstream sources for reading. I commented asking for suggestions of alternate archives, because I stupidly thought someone might suggest to me a new source of books, which is always a joy. :D I goofed. The OP just meant support independent authors and like...I will if they write good stuff, but I'm not reading independent authors just to earn a "thinks for herself" badge.

Armin having a crush on you while you're with Eren hc

You met outside the library, he's was looking forward to relaxing after a long day with his new stack of books he just checked out, too lost in his own daydreams that he didn't see where he was going when bumping into you.

Quick to apologise, he helped you up. Instead of getting mad you chuckled at his clumsiness after he explained what caused him to not pay attention, and for some reason the sound of your laughter made his heart just beat a bit faster.

Summoning all the courage he's been building up, he invited you to the nearby cafe, his treat.

Armin doesn't do well with strangers nor small talk but by whatever miracle, talking to you at that cafe didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Listening to you talk about the weather while sipping on his strawberry milkshake was actually quiet nice, your voice was quiet nice.

He thought you were quiet nice and lovely.

The two of you ended up exchanging numbers after that, he went home that day with a little more bounce to his steps and a little more curl to his smile.

You ended up texting all night. And by the end of the week, you've managed to keep a streak of daily texts and calls despite your busy schedule. He listened to every voice message, he reread every sweet text, he admired every picture you sent.

And by the second week, the two of you agreed to meet again. So he took you to the nearby beach, you had a nice walk, collected some really pretty seashells and shared an ice cream and he was enjoying every second of it.

By the third week, you called him at 3am for a really important reason. He listened to you despite how tempting sleep was, he was understanding and compassionate, he managed to relate to your worries and calm them at the same time.

Despite it being around 5am when the call ended, he found himself not really minding it or even bothered by it, because it was you.

And by the end of the month, when the two of you drove to a farm to pick up fruits together, he realised how deeply in love with you he has fallen.

You couldn't look more perfect under the sun with a basket full of strawberries if you tried. You looked like an angel in his mind.

He was in love, and every thing you did together just made him fall more and more for you.

You went on walks together, he got you into playing chess and you introduced him to your hobbies.

Hanging out with him was the most comfortable, you'd listen to music while each of you did their own thing. Maybe even watch a murder mystery movie or two after and trying to guess who the killer is together.

Day by day it only got better, it was going good..no scratch that, it was going great actually. He's never felt so in rhythm with someone before, so comfortable to be his true self while still trusting you wouldn't judge him.

So he decided to push things to the next level, he wanted you in his life and to tell you how he felt. It's been three months since you've met and so far you've showed nothing but green flags.

That's when he decided to confess, but before that he had to introduce you to his friends, the most people he cares about in one room! What could possibly go wrong?

Everything, apparently.

More specifically, introducing you to Eren, the biggest mistake of his life.

Because instead of the usual teasing Armin would get for being late to his friend's house or texting them less frequently, It was Eren getting the teasing.

The only difference is, Eren had no shame, he didn't feel a need to justify himself for hogging all your time, for ditching the plans he makes with Mikasa and Armin just because you called.

If anything Eren had all the audacity to pull you to sit beside him whenever they hang in a group, or to just casually wrap his hand around your shoulder, even interrupting your conversations with Armin just so he can tell a joke to make you laugh.

And that turned into Eren being the one driving you back home despite Armin bringing you here.

Somehow and for whatever reason, Eren seemed to latch on to you. Taking you to movies, late night drives with him, even introducing you to his mom.

Armin likes to think the best of his friends, and Eren is his childhood friend, even his first ever friend. So you can't blame him for hoping Eren would read between the lines and take a fucking hint.

Eren had to know, he had to. But he's a good friend, he wouldn't steal someone Armin made it clear he's interested in right.

....right?

1am, Armin has been sitting up in bed for a while, he can't sleep. The project he's been working on is doesn't want to work out right and Armin is slowly losing patience with the deadline creeping over.

He doesn't even realise how long he's been lost over-thinking in his head till the laptop's screen turns black and goes into sleep mode, he stares at his tired reflection.

He feels lost and stuck at the same time, he closes his eyes and tries to clear his mind.

You pop into his mind, he glances at the phone for a good minute before dialling your number.

It rings, and rings, he's getting anxious.

It's alright, he tells himself, this isn't the first time he called you late at night, you actually called him at really late times too so what is he stressing about.

Why is there a feeling of dread in his chest.

The ringing stops, you pick up and for a second he seems to light up a bit.

except it wasn't you who picked up the phone.

It was Eren, answering him from your phone, sounding like he just woke up.

At 1am.

And it was Eren walking around with hickies on his neck the next day.

Armin felt emotions he never thought he'd ever feel towards his best friend when he got out of the shower that day, marks and hickies littering his skin.

Very, very ugly emotions.

Mikasa asks what is Eren getting ready for when he begins dressing up fancier than usual. "Date with y/n" was all he said before leaving

Armin still swears Eren looked at him with a knowing look just before he left.

He tried to reason with himself that it probably wouldn't last long, Eren is either messing with him intentionally or it's just a fling that's taking too long right?

...right?

It's been 6 fucking months, Armin has been counting.

And you're still with Eren, and he's still just as clingy and possessive as when you first met. Apparently the honeymoon phase wasn't a phase because he still insists you only sit near him, he still acts like you're the only two in the room with little regard to what's socially appropriate.

Armin internally cringes whenever Eren wraps his arm around your waist, or puts his hand on your thigh.

His stomach turns whenever Eren whispers something in your ear, his fingers dig in his palm whenever you look away flustered and slighly red after that.

He's not jealous, he tells himself while scrolling through the third picture Eren posted of you on his story, you're laying on his bed, his head on your thighs as he looks at the camera with smug eyes.

Armin almost cracks his phone screen.

"It was supposed to be me" he thinks each time Eren pulls you for a kiss simply because he felt like it.

It was supposed to be him surprising you with a gift on valentine's day, it was supposed to be him kissing your neck after getting a little too drunk, and now it's Eren doing it instead.

It was supposed to be him...it was never supposed to be Eren, it's not fair, he knew you first.

It was supposed to be beach trips and funfair dates, it was supposed to be reading books together and watching mystery movies, just you and Armin.

Not fucking Eren.

why, why would this happen to him? He was going to confess to you, he even prepared a letter and date plans and everything.

It's not fair how much it hurts, how much he misses you.

He knew you first, he wanted you and goddammit he still does even with you dating his bestfriend, he still wants you with every part of his body and mind.

And it eats him up at night, the guilt and bad thoughts of knowing just how wrong it is to wish Eren and you would just break up already, to wish he could just swoop in and take you from his arms.

It's a constant cycle of feeling high on love, feeling anger and then feeling the crushing guilt.

my day yesterday was okay, i've just been relaxing, and studying occasionally. went out to explore a nearby town too, it's so pretty there. and much colder (since it's a highlands) of course!! Today was great too. I bought doughnuts (they're amazing?? I love doughnuts), and I had instant ramen, but it was SO spicy I nearly died. (Three bottles of water later, because someone finished all the milk in the household *cough* me *cough*) and I'm still just reeling. Sucks having such low spice tolerance HAHA. I'm listening to some old school hip-hop rn, while typing this out :D how were your two days?

I was one of those people, honestly 😭 but mostly because I wasnt aware of its political condition, I guess. Maybe theres more than just politics that's bad about US, but honestly, it has more opportunities than this hellfire. Though now I'm more into Norway and Japan. Really wanna travel there :(

HAHAH, honestly, that reminds me of how there were 4 people with the same name in my class, and whenever the teacher did the attendance thing, they would all stand up. Teachers usually dont say the last names, so we always gotta ask which person they mean if theres more than one person with that name, so yeah.. That happened on accident at first, but then they just did it for trolling xD

Zach: What would you like me to call you?

Comeneth: My username works

Zach: Fair enough.

Zach: What do you think about Sister Claire?

Comeneth: Starting with hard hitting questions right off the bat? okay:

Long and short of it, I love it, mostly because of Oscar.

There's not a lot of trans representation, so when I find good trans representation that instantly makes me enjoy a piece of media that much more. When Oscar was my favorite character that just made it better.

Also this comic is queer as hell, which is something I appreciate considering I'm also queer as hell and there's a lot of stuff that's just completely straight and that gets pretty dull.

Zach: That is a good way to put it. Do you have another piece of media you enjoy with good trans representation?

Comeneth: The only other piece of media that I know of with any trans representation at all is a book series called Dragonoak, which I love.

Zach: Sounds pretty fantasy-tic.

Comeneth: It is. It's about a (gay) necromancer who runs away from home because she's shunned for her powers with one of the kingdom's thirteen knights and they go off and have lots of (gay) adventures.

I still haven't read the third one yet, it's sitting on my kindle waiting for me not to be a lazy ass.

Zach: This sounds amazing and I am now interested more. Do you think you prefer High Fantasy or Low Fantasy?

Comeneth: Would you consider urban fantasy to be Low Fantasy? Regardless, I like High Fantasy; mostly I like stories that are far removed from the bounds of normal constraints.

Zach: I'm just happy I'm not a fool for tossing archaic terms at you.

Comeneth: Most people understand the term High Fantasy.

Zach: On this same line of thought, if you could live in a fictional world neither from Sister Claire or your own creation, where might you go?

Comeneth: Gimme a moment to think

-A moment is given-

Comeneth: There's a lot of options but I think the world of Always Human appeals to me the most.

Zach: I am honestly not familiar with that, care to share?

Comeneth: Sure!

Always Human takes place in the unspecified future. It's a time where humans are capable of genetically modifying their bodies. Just a very peaceful world.

Zach: So there's no distinguishing markings that come accompanies with shame or disappointment because anyone can have the body they would like?

Comeneth: Basically. It would also allow a person like me to mod their body into something that suited them. And It's just a very beautiful world.

Zach: It certainly sounds like it.

Zach: Onto a funny question potentially: What is the story behind your username? Does it tie in with your avatar?

Comeneth: My username is the name of a character I created in 7th grade. Initially Comeneth was a god of dragons that was banished to space and would shoot comets from his mouth in fits of rage during his exile. Over the years he's still remained a dragon, but he's very different now.

And it has *nothing* to do with my icon.

Zach: Comeneth was a dangerous dragon, was he now?

Comeneth: well he did lead a rebellion against the other gods so I'd say so. Even in his current incarnation he's still dangerous but less angry.

Zach: His rage seems a little reasonable, then.

Zach: Why did you pick your icon [of Sailor Jupiter]?

Comeneth: Because I like Sailor Jupiter. Honestly she's kind of #goals for me.

Zach: Alright, bam. done. best answer, moving on.

Zach: So saying you get booked at 2am, and tossed in an overnight cell to cool off. What were you charged with?

Comeneth: My only guess would be that it was a bullshit arrest because I'm either on the computer or asleep at 2 am.

Zach: "Trick question officer, I was asleep at the time and my computer can vouch for my alibi!"

Comeneth: "Check my internet history"

Zach: Alright, now I'm going to ask you a question that I don't have prepared. Instead it's randomly chosen from a book of them. Would you be willing to eat a bowl of live crickets for $40,000?

Comeneth: Depends on the crickets

Zach: Let's say ice cream bowl, not salad bowl

Comeneth: If they're camel crickets, no way in fucking hell they are disgusting. But like, regular crickets, sure

-granted the moment I take a bite they ain't going to be alive anymore-

Zach: Good way of looking at it, and a good caveat, I like it.

Zach: You ready for the last question? What did you believe you wanted to be or do when you grew up?

Comeneth: The earliest one I can distinctly remember is the one I'm going to go with. Okay so, have you ever heard of the Kratt brothers? When I was a kid, they had a show called Kratt's Creatures. it was basically Chris and Martin Kratt going all across the world and talking about different animals.

One episode they'd spend it all on elephants, and then another they'd talk about bears.

Stuff like that.

And I thought it was the coolest thing to go out in the wild and see all those cool animals. I wanted to do that.

Zach: Do you think you could do it now?

Comeneth: No, I've regrettably become a creature who prefers a stable environment that cannot be provided in the outdoors. But the show did instill a life long love of animals so it will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Zach: So you're saying that when we can plug USBs into trees of the Serengeti for Wifi coverage, I should give you a call?

Comeneth: More like when I can walk through a tropical rainforest and I won't feel the humidity; I can survive without the internet, but terrible weather conditions just leave me in a foul mood. I get miserable if it's too hot, cold, humid etc.

Zach: *To do list..... Develop personal weather bubbles...

Zach: Well this has been a treat to sit down and talk with you! Thank you very much for being the first interview.

Comeneth: Yay! This was fun. I kinda thought there were more questions than this but oh well!

Zach: There were, I just didn't want to hit everyone with every question. Plus this opens people up to asking questions they weren't asked to each other!

Comeneth: *nods sagely from the porch* They'll be back.
