Laios Touden and autism; admiring the non-human

Do you think people exaggerate when they scream about Laios being autistic? Do you feel like it’s weird that so many people including autistics are so set on Laios, the problematic (but incredible and kind) king TM, being the most autistic that has ever autisticed? Why do we cheer on autistic people wanting to be monsters?? Isn’t that weird?

Well, of course it depends on the way it’s done, it can be done quite offensively, but long story short Kui blew it out of the park. The thing is, autistic people really do like monsters and animals and robots. Nonhuman does not mean subhuman, it just means Other. Feeling a connection with them has been shown to be an extremely common autistic experience for that very reason.

Because some people don’t understand why we autistic Tumblr Laios stans cheer “autism! Autism!” whenever he talks about monsters and feeling alienated to humans so! Here’s a post about how yes even research papers are analyzing the special connection we form with animals. I’m not even joking but Laios Touden & the mass cries of relatability with autistic people he gets and all the love for him could be used as study material and evidence for future papers because the link is that strong. Oh also I think it’s notable that being autistic and undiagnosed vs diagnosed makes a huge difference. In my experience as someone who was undiagnosed up until 18, it’s even more alienating to not know that there’s a reason why you’re different, being gaslit that you’re ‘normal’ and you just need to try harder and get with the program, etc. Personally when getting diagnosed I went through the 5 stages of grief because the thought of having been fundamentally different all your life (a difference which you will never be able to change) and mistreated for it when you weren’t “wrong” all along makes you unload all the anger and sadness and loneliness and sheer trauma you’ve built up over time. Like it’s world shattering.

So! Back to seeing dogs as family. Also I implore you to value experiential evidence when it comes to autism and other neurodivergences because brains are complicated and neurotypicals not being able to understand us well even with scientific research is like, a whole thing even though we’re right there speaking about how we feel and being right every time because the topic is literally us and how we experience the world.

Disclaimer for this whole post that, of course, no group is a monolith and everyone has different experiences or can diverge from the norm of the group, and that doesn’t diminish the validity of either side! Like, I know autistic people who have trauma with dogs and hate them. But, trends do happen, and in this case... Autism is very “My experiences with humans make me feel dehumanized in a bad and lonely way so instead I’ll dehumanize myself in a good and inspiring way”.

It’s literally well recorded that autistic people relate to animals more than humans globally. With this post, besides spreading autistic Laios truthism and explaining why the portrayal hits so deep for so many, I want to show in what way this is a very specific experience and not looking at his character through an autistic lense really misses a lot of why he’s everything that he is. (Tacking allegedly onto here for legal reasons, different interpretations are valid etc etc /gen). This honestly isn’t super long though.

To define an important term, anthropomorphism in the studies and in this post means to attribute human traits to the nonhuman, which not only includes anthro furry designs but also animals irl, inanimate objects, and animated media as opposed to live action, to humanize them and empathize with them.

“Dogs taught me how to hunt and socialize and work in groups”, Laios having internalized body language... So real so real. I, too, make a great dog impression. And I want to emphase the part that it helps greatly develop a sense of emotions and relationships! For Laios, he didn’t get along with kids his age, it was him, Falin and the dogs against the world. Since it’s a group of dogs too, it taught him group dynamics and social hierarchies (like with Falin being considered as being below the dogs in authority according to the dogs rip), and the importance of group coordination when hunting.

For me, I cannot like, concisely explain just how much animals were important to me developmentally. I also grew up with dogs, but like I vividly remember encounters with like hamsters as well just radically shaping my understanding of boundaries, the importance of giving something space and the way you interact with them and respect their side of it. Unlike humans they don’t really mask how they feel, it’s direct cause-effect reaction and data gathering. There are no words involved, so the focus on having a perfect phrasing and tone is gone, leaving just pure interactions.

There’s also no reason to mask how you feel either, and you don’t have to feel silly over wanting to form a connection and it showing, what, is the dog gonna laugh at you because you obviously want to make friends with it? Toshiro or Kabru might, but dogs and cats will just tell you to fuck off and leave it there worst case scenario. I often say that I think one reason Marcille is special to Laios and he feels comfortable around her is because she emotes INTENSELY, she gestures, she puts her whole body into it, her facial expressions are pretty exaggerated and her ears even emote too- like with a dog’s ears!

I think there’s def also things to be said about how he gravitated towards Izutsumi at first, all excited, was eager to sleep in the same bed as her, but in the Izutsumi sleep rating chart we see they really just casual and chill so it’s not a Laios talking to Shuro deep into the night situation just a “I like sleeping besides animals” situation and that is enough to hype him up. I love how he pet her in the extra about why Chil let her sleep with him too. He’s just so transparently eager to befriend her, even if in the end they weren’t all that compatible and he accepted that.

There are honestly so many examples I could give for this. Like Grandin the famous cow lady.

This paper extends to our widespread liking of cartoons and robots as well. Ok so this is a whole thing I won’t get into here but this is a big reason why a lot of autistic people are agender leaning as well. Genders and queerness in general is a lot about social constructs, and being queer is being marginal to these, not fitting into boxes or challenging those social norms and conventions. Queerplatonic relationships are a great example of this, where the framework of the relationship is platonic but the intangible nature of what it is exactly is the point, not familial not anything but everything at once too, just adoration, I like to say having pets is a bit like it as well, bc obvi it’s not romantic and often not fully familial, very platonic but also sooo much cuddling and adoration and kissing and whatnot that you wouldn’t typically do with a friend or family member. I’ll talk about qpr and labels another day though.

I got carried away but queerness in Dunmeshi is something I 100% want to make a big post on one day. Experiencing the world with different guidelines and not registering things to have the same boxes, sigh. Personally I also relate to Laios on a gender level, “cis by default because I don’t care all that much but if I were to dig deeper I’m probably otherkin and I want to be socially associated with traits of monsters and animalistic rather than man/woman” sighh hard to be a cryptid in this day and age. I wish we had a term like furry but for monsters, I want to be in the fantasy or folk tale genre ty, like changelings. Goshh changelings... You know, the irl myth where people said their neurodivergent kids were fairies’ children instead of human. Diminished physical sense of self means I see myself as some unknowable black void aesthetic wise, but like in a way that simultaneously makes me feel seen. Like becoming a monster, losing your sense of self but also somehow just being simplified and seen for what you are, it’s weird to try and explain. This post is more about relating to the nonhuman than about seeing yourself as such, but like connect the dots right, that IS an important point of Laios’ character. It’s because our brains literally work different than allistics which makes us feel as other, but also because of social ostracization and functioning in a different way than society at large, living in the margin of society, being weird and non-conforming.

Meanwhile, animals and social norms... Like ok, showing your neck and rolling on the ground to show that you’re friendly and harmless and play biting might not be proper. But have you considered that it’s also fun and feels very intuitive. Play with a dog in the dog’s way I promise it is so nice and freeing. Play tug of war and growl back when they growl. Hiss at your cat to tell them they do something wrong, engage with them on their level.

Autism made social life hard, but it made animals easy. Do you have anyyy idea how good it feels to mask all day every day and feel constantly misunderstood or like you’re doing a performance but then you can just, drop all of that in the company of animals and they understand you. They understand you. You form an understanding and rapport so easily.

And this whole thing with Laios is so explicit too, with the Winged Lion saying “You’re sick and tired of the human world”. Notice the choice of words. Sick and tired of the human world. Exhausted from the constraints, sick of the mind games. It really isn’t as much about loving monsters as it is about loving the nonhuman. Relating to them because you feel that you can actually understand how they work and think, and feeling like they could understand you back as well. Animals are safe.

Like I could go on about how Laios admiring even just demi-humans like orcs is because they’re socially seen as non-humans more than any true physical thing, that they’re not bound by human society and its rules and live with their own lifestyle. But it would deal myself 1000 points of psychic damage and I am not ready to cry today. It’s idealization 100%, and like, Laios DOES want to be treated as human, to be valued, but it feels like an unreachable thing meanwhile becoming a monster is instant gratification and freedom and a sense that now no one will be able to hurt you in a way that reaches you, never again shall you be defenseless, and then if people dehumanize you then that only strengthens your sense of identity as a monster and UGHH ugh ugh.

And like. This post is a mess at this point but if you want to kinda delve into the more “why” then I recommend this Patricia Taxxon video essay. It starts out on a very different topic, but it’s all about autism and finding comfort in the inhuman. Long story short is othering made us like this also animals are just simpler to intuitively get along with.

So when I post this

I mean it. I really mean it when I say he’s me. I have never felt so seen. So many conflicting emotions all wrapped so concisely yet so intangibly woven into the whole storyline so subtly.

Not being depicted as a monster of an human being for feeling/having felt that way?? The manga understands you. The world can understand you. Other humans can understand you. You can bond with them. You can. And I think that’s a big part of Dungeon Meshi too- Laios opening up to others about how he really is and his interests, and all the bumps on the way but how it was the only way to truly get to know each other and bond. With the climax being Laios confronting head on his complex with monsters and humans, and his monster-loving side and animalistic side being exactly what saves the whole world, what saves humanity. Because Laios does value his friends, does think humanity has beautiful sides to it, he wants to help it thrive and eat and become more accepting, carving out a kingdom for misfits and demi-humans. At the end of it, transforming into a monster and being free is a daydream fantasy, and the reality of it is that Laios does belong in the world as he is, and does receive and give out love.

Name: Survivor (Survy, Surv) Pronouns: Any/All Likes: Relaxed and comfortable spaces, Hats, Video Games, Adventuring, Hanging out with friends Dislikes: Being put in stressful situations, Feeling cornered, Cold temperatures, Failing, Being treated as small

History: They grew up in the Outer Expanse along with their sibling Monk- being raised by their parents who taught them the basics of survivability. Through their guidance and protective efforts, their life was overall rather peaceful until one fateful night where the harsh rain poured during one of their familial expeditions. Survivor was separated from their family, falling from a slippery bridge and being swept away from a flash flood. They were lost, scared, wounded and was left alone to fend for themself in the great unknown. Survivor's lost days were times of their hardship and lots of learning in the many instances where he fell and nearly died. Their efforts of traversing back to the Outer Expanse lead them to discover that their family was long gone, but they were found by Hunter who guided them to a newfound trust and friendship along with Artificer and Gourmand. They went on a search to find Survivor's family, all the while the two reddish slugcats teach Survivor their forms of combat. Eventually Survivor finds Monk, who was looking for them the whole time and was also accompanied by other slugcats. Altogether, they created a friend group, who closely looked after each other as if they were their own colony.

Personality: Despite their traumatic history, Survivor overall is relaxed (or at least always seems to be when things go as planned). Pretty much the "everything goes" type of person, though they care deeply about their friends and Monk. They can adapt to a lot of situations and is able to do a variety of things amateurly, however they've mastered none of these talents. They would often pitch in fun activities that range from a lot of effort to little effort at all- anything that has a sort of safety measurement. Survivor likes having mindless conversations and having little worry for themselves, even if for a moment. At the edge, they get alert and emotionally-charged. They are very protective and naiive about their own strength and they can go out of their way to fight something who hurt their loved ones even if that something can easily punch them back. They can get desperate and senseless if their plans go wrong, but no matter what- Survivor always makes sure they can make out of things alive even if it winds up hurting themself in the process. ... As long as you don't pit them in a stressful situation, Survivor would remain chill.

Biology: Survivor's talents are spread, though they are a master of none. They know how to fight, program, cook, etc... But they're not quite the best of any of them. They're very average.

Appearance: Survivor is a pure white slugcat with an average bodytype but has visible scars throughout their body. There is one notably on their head, stitched up. They often wear a hat to cover it. They have scars on the tip of their ears and across their face beneath their eyes, and scars on their tail as well. Survivor has dark blue gray eyes with white pupils. They have two round medium-sized ears and a medium-sized snout. They enjoy wearing chill outfits where there is always a hat (usually a beanie). They are a young adult.

Relationships: Nightcat - Likes/Best Friends - Survivor is best friends with Nightcat ever since they actually spoke to each other for the first time in the colony. The two are so close that they developed a soft crush on one another, unsure if they can go through with it due to their shyness. Monk - Family - Survivor is quite protective of Monk, who is their only remaining family member in contact with. Though they find their own shenanigans concerning, they aren't controlling of it. Hunter - Friends - They see them as a parental figure of sorts- makes sense as they are their mentor, but overall they are good friends. Artificer - Friends - They also look up to them as a parental figure and a mentor. Gourmand - Friends - Acquainted at first in their early days of being in the colony and later became friends after spending a good amount of time with them. Rivulet - Friends - A "gamer pal" of sorts, interested in their pile of the shenanigans but is overall reserved about it. Spearmaster - Friends - A good friend and a good listener to their woes. Saint - Neutral - They are a bit wary of Saint, but trusts them with Monk as they seem to be fine with them. Enot - Neutral - Quite annoyed by them, but doesn't hate them.

in regards to fan art, i prefer to only take commissions for media i am familiar with, and i may refuse commissions for media that i don't know particularly well or with which i am uncomfortable. if you're unsure about the media you're looking to commission fan art of, you can inquire via tumblr asks or dms.

i will not take commissions in a different art style from my own. this includes commissions where i would be asked to replicate the style of another artist.

overall, i reserve the right to refuse any commission whose contents i am uncomfortable with.

procedure:

after contacting me via google forms, discord, email, or dms, i will respond to accept, confirm, and provide a price for the commission.

payment will be done upfront via paypal invoice (accepts credit/debit cards, paypal, and venmo). i will send confirmation once the payment has been received.

i will send the rough sketch once it's complete and provide additional details such as a rough color palette if needed or requested.

refunds are only possible before the sketch has been completed.

during the process of completing the commission, i will provide work-in-progress images of the artwork at the line art stage, as well as the flat color and fully shaded stages if applicable to check if there are any changes you want to make to the piece at those points.

additional work-in-progress images will be provided alongside any requested alterations made to the artwork. if you would like progress images at any other point in the process, please let me know.

please provide reference images for the subject of your commission. these can include references for the kind of pose, prop, clothing, etc. you would like, but at least one reference for a character or individual being drawn is necessary.

these can be as simple or as complex as you can provide, as long as they are clear. i will not design a character from a written description of them.

you may, however, supplement reference images with written descriptions if there are certain details for which you do not have images.

terms:

the final product of the commission is a digital artwork, and is provided in the form of a PNG or JPG/JPEG file. no physical/material copy is provided.

the artist retains copyright over the finished artwork, as well as any work-in-progress images provided to the commissioner.

the rights to all characters or individuals featured in a commission are retained by their respective owners.

the commissioner may upload or share the final commission artwork on any social media platform, and credit is appreciate but not required. (if you do wish to credit me, i can be found at @bancaishi on instagram and tumblr.)

commissions are for private, non-commercial purposes only. the commissioner may not make use of a commission from me to make a profit, be it through selling/redistributing digitally or physically (as prints, merchandise, etc.). this also applies to NFTs.

Pretty self explanatory, a poll for anthro furry/scalie/whatever the term is for bugs characters.

Inspired by polls like @cool-hat-bracket, @thegreatbigdetectivepolll, @latinotiktok's latinosexyman tournament, @who-do-i-know-this-man, @mostannoyingfandom-poll, @doomed-bythe-narrative, @least-sexy-man-competition, and @worstcharacterpoll.

What counts as "Anthro"?

For a character to be elligible for submission they must:

Have a humanoid body, but animal facial features. What this means is that they have to walk around on two legs but their face must be the face of an animal. I don't want to see any humans who just happen to have cat ears in the submissions, they gotta look like someone sewed an animal head onto a human torso. The body can be anything from fully humanized to something like a literal rat that walks on two legs.

Be based on a real life animal. I'm not gonna add fictional species for this poll, because they fall in a bit of a gray area between anthro and just a separate species altogether. Remember to specify what animal your submission is supposed to be.

Be relatively well known. You can submit obscure characters (in fact, PLEASE submit obscure characters) but no ocs. If google shows no results for them they cannot be submitted.

Not be from a dating sim because there are way, way too many of them. This rule is only here so I don't end up googling 50 different R18 furry dating sims. Spare me please, I beg of thee.

Not be from any sort of real life religion because that's disrespectful as shit.

Because of his type of work and the night schedules he manages; It is common to see him asleep during the day anywhere in his work clothes at the Piggy family restaurant or near Kickin's cabin (or in general keeping him company while he rests with one of his friends).Although he usually seems to be a lazy person, and some of his own comments towards himself; He is someone who puts the people he cares about above his own well-being and is loyal to his friends to an absurd degree.

On the other hand, topics such as his family, his past in "beta-unit 1006" or the "prototypism" tend to make him uncomfortable and he will skip the topic immediately or pretends he needs another cigarette (even if he's smoking a new one)..

A funny gag with him is that he usually appears out of nowhere in favor of the situation and scaring everyone at the same time while repeating «it's not my turn, but...»

about his work and daily life.

He is a As mentioned above, he is a private detective who, due to his predilection, works the night shift (which is why he spends the rest of the day half asleep). He works for the detective agency "Mob Inc." Therefore, his way of dressing in civilian clothes at work does not have many differences and he maintains a dark color palette. In that agency he works only with Mr. Mob (founder and chief financial officer) and his "brother" and day shift colleague Boxy Boo.

He ended up getting entangled in the world of detectives due to an altercation in his youth where he tried to steal the wallet of who would be his boss and was given two options: hand him over to the police or work for him and have a formal job.

"Magic" data (and other skills):

like a cursed, it has the standard abilities that they generally have without the need for it to be activated =

- improved brute force.

- hyperdeveloped senses.

-permission and knowledge of handling weapons of his rank.

But, this can be activated when your body is under a very high stress situation or in a situation of extreme danger.

His curse has 3 phases=

Phase 1: activated.

His body begins to secrete and expel poppy smoke (a reminder that poppies are an inhibitor of magic, and for beings like witches it is a lethal poison) through the respiratory tract and his character, due to the pain it causes, becomes aggressive and alert. ; If panic does not take over, he can deactivate it voluntarily.

Phase 2: controlled/stable form.

It's the shape they wanted to achieve when they experimented with it in the first place.

His body begins to adapt to the poppy gas and has a "mild growth spurt"; The gas also goes from being just a sleeping pill to a tool to generate illusions in its favor and can generate the gas or poppy substance in a more solid way in its claws or fangs. His attitude also changes, becoming more sinic and playful; like a hunter who enjoys torturing his prey.

He can be reasoned with to a certain degree and if he realizes that he has hurt someone important to him he can revert to his activated form.

If he spends too much time in that way...he can get out of control.

Phase 3: uncontrolled/ unstable form.

It is what went wrong and made him consider a failure.

If he spends too much time in his controlled form the Poppy Smoke itself "takes over" Catnap's body, giving him the grotesque appearance of a skeletal cat surrounded by smoke; the only trace of his actual body being his eyes and mouth injected with poppy gas.

You can't reason with him...

You can't fight him...

You can only do two things = run away and pray that his energy runs out quickly so that he returns to his base form.

Medical notes:

-He is under strict medical treatment so that one day his curse cannot affect him.

-Even though he is stable, due to his physical modification, his body feels the need for the poppy substance; So as contradictory as it may sound, you are allowed to smoke a certain limited amount of cigarettes solely made from these flowers while investigating an alternative for his case; His trademark is "the hour of joy."

-Bobby is his designated therapist.

I keep forgetting if I asked or not cos I have terrible memory and so I've been procrastinating asking cos I don't wanna accidentally repeat myself or bother you!! But genuine question, when Reggie goes pufferfish mode 🗣️🔥 does he still have bad eyesight or does he regain his vision. Does he get lil pufferfish glasses or is he forced to swim blindly in the abyss? 🐡

Please no one worry about being a bother, I have my ask box open for a reason after all!

I think in my head it's kinda an odd mixture between "When Reggie goes pufferfish mode he can see just fine regardless" and "When Reggie goes pufferfish mode, he can see well if he was wearing glasses beforehand and he can't see well if he lost his glasses beforehand"

Regardless though Reggie would not be wearing glasses in pufferfish form! Unless an accessory and/or aid was physically attached to the body of the person (such as a prosthetic) and can't be removed without some degree of effort, all accessories/aids "disappear" when going animal mode and return in anthro mode

So how would anthro scavs function? And what would happen if arti encountered one?

This is a hard one for me and one I don't have fully figured out!!! This is a bit of a long explanation, and its going under the cut- and additionally a small warning for discussions of genocide (but just discussion, nothing too loaded)

Also note that I'm coming at this from the perspective of a bio nerd who really likes thinking about how non-human creature's brains might work.

For starters, you can't really do a 1-to-1 version of what Artificer and Scavenger's relationships are as creatures as fully sapient, human-aligned anthros. Both Scavengers and Slugcats are primitive and non-human- while they're smart, especially for the average animal, they aren't at all people or going to think in things in people term and morals, and its also really boring to try and force them straight into that mold as little animals. I think it would be a bit disingenuous to call a non-anthro Artificer's relationship to scavengers outright genocidal- its certainly not okay, but genocidal to me carries a certain human weight to it I do not want to ascribe to what I still largely characterize as an animal acting as a particularly destructive animal. Artificer, to me, is much more like a dog that is so overly reactive and hostile to a specific thing to the point of it being unhealthy and unfixable than they are to a person rationalizing the intentional execution of an entire group of people. Slugcat pups can feel bad about killing small insects and avoid doing it, but I don't think those slugpups are more morally attuned than the ones that shove handfuls of centipedes into their little mouths without second thought.

In terms of non-anthros; slugcats, for me, are an animal thats intelligent and social enough to understand things like pain and harm and often express empathy for that pain and harm, but they don't really have any sort of moral compass associated with it. Artificer understands that they are harming scavengers and causing them pain, and its really not much more complicated than wanting to do that because they hurt them and they're retaliating (with each counterattack by the scavengers reinforcing that drive further.) Scavengers are a step above slugcats, having a little bit more formalized culture and rules, not quiet human (or ancient, i guess) level but certainly on track- but much like people they see other creatures as a different thing rather than peers. Slugcats aren't 'another intelligent species' to Scavengers so much as they are viewed similarly to lizards or any other creature, but with more capacity to prove itself a good and well behaved thing just as much as it could be something unsafe to interact with. It's maybe bad to kill a random animal (slugcat) unprovoked, but certainly not as bad as killing a fellow scavenger (your peer). And while you can probably trust another scavenger you meet to be well behaved individual you can interact with, a random animal (even if that animal just offered you items in bargaining) you find should be assumed dangerous.

So the Artificer/Scavenger relationship is a sort of odd one to convert to anthro, because you can't really… do Artificer as Artificer is without discussing what their relationship to scavengers is. But once they become sapient animal-people with some level of human perspective on morals a 1-to-1 execution would, yeah, make Artificer a genocidal maniac. Which is both not something I particularly want to work with/even remotely 'redeem' as a character, and in my option much more extreme than what they actually are in non-anthro form because there's now a different type of brain behind the whole thing. But you cant really leave scavengers behind (aka, keep them more animalistic) either because that just feels… wrong, given how I just argued that I see scavengers are more advanced/closer to early humans than slugcats.

I haven't quiet worked out the solution to that problem, other than whatever it is the most important detail is that Artificer's anger is unchecked and misdirected- It has to be a wildfire- it can't be focused and sensical it has to be something that hurts far too many that had nothing to do with them. But I know how I don't want to do it, and thats making them someone who was genocidal/racist but "got better" or whatever. Thats kinda a bit much and like I said, I think it misses the mark on exactly what is going on their little animal head.

It also doesn't help that I haven't fully figured out how far I wanna slide the anthropomorphized scale. Full-furry generally suggests a sort of human outlook on things, but you can also go the hollow knight route and make them human-like but still clearly not always following a "civilized" mindset. It's complicated! Especially when you have two species that technically don't 'start' at the same level.

I will say that Artificer here, as an anthro, is far from a good person with good views on things, even If I'm trying to avoid making them that reprehensible. At this point though they have sorta burned out (pun intended) on their anger and is technically less hostile and dangerous, but not because they had any real change of heart- it just stopped making them feel something. They're like… post game Artificer. They've done their work, dug their grave, and now their laying it half-awake and only half-reflecting. As far as they're concerned thats all behind them and they would rather pretend that it never happened, and most of that destructiveness has turned inward in various ways. Seeing scavengers nowadays are probably an uncomfortable reminder, but they're just gonna look the other way. To them, it was a different Artificer. (Hunter, similarly, is also in their "post" game. They did their big mission (However that particular thing will get converted, lmao) and is now just in the worsening stages of their sickness trying to work out how their life is gonna go now that a large part of their sense of self is literally rotting away from them. Also not a great place to be but definitely more emotionally stable than Artificer is, even if Artificer comes off as more self-assured and better off)

If you don't want to commission me that's also fine i'd apreciate just a regular kofi dono or just sharing this around bc my finances are maybe extremely worrying right now. i will also be considering opening a google doc or some other order form to allow payments via cashapp. Anyways heres a general breakdown of the pricing system and my will's/wont's under the cut:

So how do I (you, the buyer) choose what I want?

SO when you open up the request form it should look something like this!

We're using the bust order as our example here. At its base price, $15, it is set for the black and white option. If this is what you would like, then you don't have to worry about the add ons at all and you go straight to submitting your request! Now, if you're choosing add ons, it'll look something like these:

The first would be an example of an order of a flat color bust + an extra character bust with flat coloring as well. The color option adds the extra $10 (to match the listed price on the poster for $25), and the extra character with flat coloring adds half of that $25 to the order (well a little less bc i knocked off the .50 cents) which is why it comes out to $37.

The second would be an example of a black and white bust order with an added black and white bust character. This just adds an extra $7 to the price totaling $22.

What will you (the artist, me Brutus) draw?

If you want me to draw your oc or fanart of your favorite character I GOT U!!!

I'm also comfortable drawing blood and gore though I'll have to keep it on the lighter side (I enjoy blood if it isnt obvious by my url though so depending on what you want we might be able to go a little further with that).

I can do characters with armor as well, however I will require a reference of some sort from you, the client, as I'm frankly not going to attempt armor off the dome. I won't design armor myself either.

Pinups (not full nsfw due to how much of a struggle it is to navigate different site policies) and other suggestive works are also a-ok! a tity does not bother me if that wasn't made clear by my commission card 👍🏽

Im not comfortable trying to draw real people as of right now sorry! I'd hate to mess that up and have somebody clown me for messing up their beloved's features so that is off the table right now but it's subject to change.

I also won't do furry/anthro just because that isn't my forte as I haven't practiced drawing animalistic characters. There r plenty of talented furry artists for you to choose from and I could talk to someone to guide you to a few

(I can do more humanoid fantasy characters however. like mermaids, satyrs, etc)

More extreme gore and body horror is also off the table.

I may love mecha but as it is like armor and a bit more extreme, I'm not drawing it sorry. And also as stated above I'm not drawing armor regardless without a good reference.

Certain fandoms are a no-go for me due to my own comfort. A quick list would be: mogeko games, omori, south park, hetalia, attack on titan, mcyt, hazbin hotel/helluva boss. if you're not sure just ask!

I reserve the right to decline any comission request for any reason. Getting paid is nice but my comfort is nicer yknow.

Gen I, Complete!

That's right, with Mew's poll finalized we can say we have made it through the entirety of Gen I's Pokemon (plus variants introduced in later generations)!

As such, I'd like to take a moment to recognize this generations...

Sultans of Smash!

(Which is just a fancy way of saying they got more "Smash" than "Pass" votes)

So then, lets go through the list! Our Smashables are (under the Read More because holy fuck we're gonna be here a while):

Venusaur! Voted 53.3% Smashable in Standard Form and 54.9% Smashable in Mega Form! Though sadly, Gigantamax did not make the cut.

Charizard, who really raked in the Smashes! Boasting a 58.2% Smash vote in Standard Form, a whopping 70.4% Smash vote in Mega X Form, an even 66% Smash vote in Mega Y Form, and a similar to standard 57.1% Smash vote in Gigantamax, we cannot deny it: Charizard is smashable however one pleases!

And rounding out the OG Starter Trio, Blastoise! Voted 57.4% Smashable in Standard Form! But, alas, only Standard Blastoise was voted smashable... I guess extra cannons just don't do it these days.

Looks like the Snakes are Sexy trope is in effect (maybe), because Arbok made the cut at 53.7%! Guess more people love snakes than you'd think.

Looks like this group has a queen. Or should I say, a Nidoqueen? At 61.7%, it seems she's managed to charm many trainers throughout the years!

But of course, where there's a queen, there's often a king! So it's only fitting that Nidoking joins the Sultans of Smash! Hitting a respectable 66.2%, it seems the Nido- royal family has made monarchists of more than a few.

It's a trend as old as time (or at least as old as the country of Japan). The Kitsune of Japanese folklore has always been seen with an aura of sultriness in even some of its oldest appearances, and it seems Pokemon is no exception. Ninetails has been voted Smashable, with the classic Kantonian Ninetails ranking at 64.5% and the more modern Alolan Ninetails at 66.7%! Though really, considering how common art of these two are, It's surely no surprise they've made it here.

Of course, a trend must be noted: Whenever Ninetails is anthropomorphized, it's almost always as a woman. So one has to wonder, if Ninetails is the lord of the female anthros, who's the lord of the male anthros? Well for that, look no further than Ninetails' counterpart from Red version, Arcanine! With an impressive 73% smashability in Kantonian form (plus the largest number of overall votes) and a fine 63.5% in Hisuian form, Arcanine's appeal is very much apparent to many.

I'd like to congratulate this next one for being the first non-final evolution to make the cut! Kadabra has managed to pull a 59.8% Smashability rating, earning them a spot in the Sultans of Smash!

Of course, Kadabra's not the only member of this family on here. Alakazam has also been voted Smashable, at 66.1% for Standard form and 55.4% for Mega! Seems Max was right, the ladies do love a good spoon-bending (which is impressive, considering he doesn't even like girls).

Perhaps you're not much for brains, maybe you prefer brawn. If that's the case, Machoke has you covered! At a 63.9% Smash rating, seems this Superpower Pokemon also has the super power of getting some.

But of course, much like their Psychic-Type counterpart family, it doesn't end with Machoke. Oh no, Machamp has also made their way to the list, with a 61.1% Smash in Standard Form and a 52.4% Smash in Gigantamax! I guess with four arms, there really is enough of Machamp to go around for everyone!

I suppose the allure of the tentacles is too strong for some to pass up, because Tentacruel has made it at a 51.3% Smash vote! Just, uh, make sure to have some Antidotes on hand for your fun times...

A loyal steed can get one through many things, and few steeds are so loyal as Rapidash! With Kantonian at 59.2% and Galarian at 64.8%, maybe we need to start calling them Nearl Arknights the way people wanna smash these horses.

I'm gonna be honest, this one I didn't see coming! Haunter has managed a 55.4% Smash vote, earning them a spot in the Sultans of Smash! Guess more people must be into ghosts than I thought.

This next one, less of a surprise! They're big, they're fun, and they can probably do all the stuff a Haunter can and more, Gengar has made the cut in all forms, with a 63.7% for Standard Form, a 60.8% for Mega, and a 53.4% for Gigantamax! What can we say, Gengar has it going on according to the statistics.

And next on the list, Hitmonchan! Making the cut at 52.6% and beating out the kick-based Hitmonlee, it would seem you can get some if you skip leg day! (...There's probably a fisting joke in here somewhere as well, but lets not go there. Low hanging fruit and all.)

It's one of the oldest questions: "Hey baby what that tongue do?" And it would seem Pokemon are not immune to this question either, or at least Lickitung isn't! And at a 55.4% Smash vote, the answer seems to be "This tongue does a lot."

We got ourselves a bit of an oddity on this one, as Tauros has made the cut... but only in two of its Paldean forms, with Blaze Breed hitting 60.4% Smash and Aqua Breed getting a 52.1% Smash! That said, the other two come close as well, so I must conclude that the additional elemental types just add that special something!

Many people love to be serenaded, it's just one of those facts of life. So maybe it'll come as no surprise that the musically inclined Lapras has managed to carve itself a nice 63.4% Smashability rating in the votes! That said, sadly Gigantamax has not had the same luck. Guess it's true, sometimes the original is just better.

Shapeshifting! Almost any time a super power with smash-based applications is thought of, shapeshifting is one of the first to be imagined. So it's almost certainly no surprise that the mercurial Ditto has managed to earn itself a hefty 70.1% Smash rating!

Oh boy queue up the copypasta, because Vaporeon has proven that people agree! Specifically, 52% of voters agree! ...No I'm not putting the copypasta here, someone already did that on Vaporeon's poll.

Of course, that's not to say the rest of the Eeveelutions are unloved! Why, Jolteon has managed to pull a 54.5% Smash rating!

And of course, Flareon isn't forgotten either (at least by the fans, the way the actual games treat it you have to wonder about Game Freak...)! Making it to a 52.4% Smash rating, Flareon (and Jolteon, as stated above) prove that all three OG Eeveelutions have their fair share of the love.

Coming in as the 25th member of the Sultans of Smash, Snorlax has proven to be considered big and beautiful by 56% of the vote! Though it would seem this does not extend to Gigantamax Snorlax, though judging by that tree on their belly they may simply be Too Big To Smash.

And of course, we now get to the OG Legendary Trio, the Elemental Birds! And starting us off is Articuno! Specifically, Galarian Articuno, who has managed to outsmash their Kantonian cousin and gain themselves a 69% Smash rating (nice). Personally, I think it's the Char Aznable vibes they give off, what with the mask and the psychic powers and the redder coloration (being purple to the Kantonian's blue) and the being faster (though not 3x faster).

And much like Articuno, Galarian Moltres has managed to overtake their Kantonian cousin and snatch the Smash rating! And at 60.8% Smash, it's clear that, at least for Moltres, they do go for the jerks.

We saw with Arbok, and now we see it here with Dragonair and their 61.8% Smash rating, serpentine Pokemon have their share of fans down to smash!

And as the first fully evolved Pseudo-Legendary and the first fully evolved Dragon-Type, Dragonite's 57.3% Smash rating has reminded us that sometimes, being big and friendly while also being strong enough to kick ass has its charms!

And finally, rounding out Gen I's Sultans of Smash, we have The Gamebreaker of their day, the original Bragging Rights 'Mon, Mewtwo! With a 68.8% in their Standard Form and a 56.7% in their Mega X Form, Mewtwo proves they still got it in terms of smashing! Though it seems that Mega Mewtwo just doesn't have the raw smashing charisma of their other two forms...

And that wraps up the Gen I Who's Who of Smashing! See you all after Gen II!

Like, that's such an amazing talent and profession. Finding how someone died, and who they were in life, and even potential suspects from just bones and how they look. your current situation was this: you were standing next to one of the top detectives, kyoko kirigiri, was surrounded by a bunch of officers while the skull and several teeth of a human laid in front of you. though right now it was kyoko's turn with the single notepad provided, you were carefully analyzing the remains. suddenly something sparked in your head. pulling out the crumpled picture of the suspected victim, r/p/n, you traced over the shape of his skull with your pen, looking at the one in front of you then the picture. "guys, i've figured it out. these remains belong to r/p/n," you announced, folding the picture neatly into a small square before shoving it into your pocket again. "good job, s/o. now all we have to do is look for r/p/n's killer," kyoko stated, in which you nodded in response. inside, you felt proud and a tad bit excited because the top detective, which you may or may not have been competing with, had just praised you. (bonus points if you have a praise kink)

"s-s/o! don't leave me b-behind! there's b-blood a-and dead bodies!" toko fukawa, your partner-in-crime, quickly caught up to you after you'd ditched her to check on a peculiar decomposed corpse. "wait, fukawa. this body has a weird aura to it," you lifted your hand up to a "wait" gesture, squatting down to get a closer inspection of the remains. "s/o! just b-because you're the ultimate forensic a-anthropologist doesn't mean y-you have t-to inspect every s-single body you r-run pass!" toko stuttered angrily out before grabbing the back of your shirt's collar in an attempt to drag you away from the body. "toko! i'm trying to focus, the more you interrupt, the longer i'll take," that wasn't necessarily true since you could focus in almost any environment, especially noisy ones. however that didn't mean you liked to study or do something in noisy and unsuitable environments. toko waited impatiently for you, occasionally turning left, right and behind to see if any ghosts were about to grab her shoulders. "wait. is this..." you started to panic, and grabbed the hand's bone with your own gloved one. "t-this is s/n... this is them, i know it, this... was this..." tears started to well up in your eyes as you squeezed the hand of your sibling. "s-s/o? are you okay? w-what happened?" you couldn't form a sentence, no matter how much you tried, so all you did was shake your head. "s/o..." toko knelt down and pulled you into a tight hug.

"you guys have to figure out whom this corpse belongs to, or else... it's punishment time! pupupupu!" monokuma explained, of course ending it off with his signature, evil laugh. you looked around at everyone, them doing the same. you hadn't told anyone in the killing game your ultimate and had lied about being the ultimate toymaker instead. though you were nervous about revealing to everyone you'd lied about your talent, it was an emergency. if you guys didn't find out whose corpse that was, you'd all be punished. quickly making your way to the skeleton, everyone stared at you, clearly confused. after a few minutes of you analyzing and scanning the hard tissue, you suddenly broke the tense silence by announcing your conclusion. "these bones belong to the ultimate pop sensation, sayaka maizono," everyone looked at you, different faces with different expressions, most shocked and confused and some amused. "how did you know s/o?" celeste questioned with a menacingly sweet tone, "i just knew. monokuma, our final guess is sayaka maizono," you made a weak attempt to dodge celeste's, and probably everyone else's question. "bingo! give that student a prize! they've guessed it correctly!" you all jumped at the voice at the door of the assembly hall. it was... junko enoshima? hadn't she been impaled by the spears of gungnir? "yyeeeeaaa... sooooo... since y'know s/o carried this whole trial... you all, but s/o will be executed! it's punishment tiiiiiime!" junko laughed, taking everyone by surprised yet again. "you're the fucking mastermind?!!" mondo screamed, appalled. "of couursee, why wouldn't i be? i'm the smartest, most sexiest, most beautiful person here! would you like those to be your final words?" you couldn't believe what you were seeing or hearing or witnessing. you couldn't even move. was this how... everything was going to end?

So, I have a question for all of you fellow MDtBH (My Dad the Bounty Hunter) fans. This involves major spoilers for Seasons 1 and 2.

Are Tim and Pam the same species?

Because as we know, they're both alien reptiles underneath their "human" skins. I'm debating whether they are the same species or they are different but similar. For one thing, Tim (or The Fixer) would frequently blink his real eyelids, which are obviously reptilian. It's also worth noting he has human eyelids he blinks as well, which are completely separate from the real ones. Pam, however, is never seen doing that. This may be because Pam has learned to control when she blinks her real eyelids with her human ones. They both have higher strength and resilience in comparison to humans.

As for their true forms...

Unfortunately, we never got to see what Tim looked like with all of his human skin off, so part of his face is all we see. When comparing what we have with Pam's true form, their eyes are similar, with Pam's pupils looking more like slits. Now, you could say Tim has a similar reptilian form to Pam because Pam is clearly able to shapeshift in some way that lets her fit inside her human skin. Though from what we see with Tim, aside from his skin and eyes, nothing is all that different from his human appearance. That may be, however, because he can't turn into his true full reptile form because he would need the human skin to be completely off.

So that answers the question of Tim and Pam being the same species of alien reptile. They are lizard-like aliens that can shapeshift themselves to fit inside skins to make them look human and unsuspecting.

But what if that's not the answer?

Then, there would be two more possibilities:

Tim and Pam are NOT the same exact species. While they share similar features between themselves, the simple answer would be that they are both reptile aliens, but different kinds. Tim is from a more anthro/human-like species of reptiles and Pam is from a more lizard-like species. This was my initial thought when I first completed both seasons before thinking about it more.

Tim and Pam ARE the same species BUT the differences are due to their sexes. This answer is basically my case of "having your cake and eating it too". We have seen many species in fantasy and sci-fi that have their differences between the males and females. We would more commonly see the males as more rugged or animal-like while the females take on a more human and conventionally attractive appearance. With Tim and Pam, this could be the other way around. It could be the females are the ones that are animal-like and the males are more human-like. This is an idea that I REALLY love, but it wouldn't surprise me if my main answer was the correct one.

So, those are my thoughts on this topic.

Am I thinking about this too much? Yes.

Do I care? XD Hell no!

About Puffbloom Forest! + Map and Landmarks!

((NSFW & BLANK/AGELESS BLOGS PLEASE DNI))

Puffbloom forest was originally a dry wasteland with barely any sign of life in it. Until one day, a creature (who is also a tickle monster) who was looking for a territory of its own used its magic to turn the barren land into a magical forest, bustling with life.

The forest was named after the creature that brought it to life.

Compared to normal forests, the plants in Puffbloom are more on the brighter, pastel side. The grass is a light mint green color, and the surrounding trees are an abundance of colors.

Since the forest is made and inhabited by the spirit of a tickle monster, the magic that these plants contain also gives them the tendency to tickle others as well.

Due to this, a majority of the inhabitants of this forest see tickling as part of their culture, using it in different ways. Whether to appreciate the forest spirit, or simply as their own personal way of bonding. The inhabitants only use it for playful, lighthearted, and interactional purposes only though, and never use tickling as a form of extreme punishments, etc.

Puffbloom is also home to a variety of species as well, ranging from fairies, elves, avians, anthro animals, etc. But only a small percentage of humans. Either way, everyone is welcomed and respected as long as they have no ill intentions.

🏡Civilizations🏘

-Flutterfluff Village🌳

The inhabitants are a vast variety of species, with the highest number of them being avians.

Their current leader is Layla(reference wip), a golden eagle avian.

Is the biggest village located in the forest and is the most well developed.

Well known for their high quality fabrics and clothes and handcrafted supplies/materials.

Has the most well-trained knights among the three.

The residents are very outgoing and friendly. Very sociable and the atmosphere is great all around.

-Tinglewing Village✨

Mainly inhabits faries and pixies. A few elves and other humanoid-like creatures live there.

Their current leader is a water fairy named Calypso(reference wip), who mysteriously isn't around in the village most of the time.

The village that uses the most magic and spells.

Sells fresh and great quality crops. They're also known for selling a lot of magical ingredients, enchanted items, fairy dust, and potions.

Their village is surrounded by a few sleeping willows on one side, and a part of Titter river on the other side. A few giant mushrooms are also scattered around the area.

Folks that live there are very playful and energetic. Some can be little tricksters and pull playful pranks on others. But they are also very hardworking, especially with their agriculture.

-Pawpad Tribe🐾

A small tribe that lives near the Tree of Joy, and protects it from anyone who means harm to it.

All of the inhabitants are anthropomorphic animals/creatures.

They are usually territorial and defensive when they see an outsider they don't recognize. But when they do get used to you and warm up to you, they're actually just a bunch of cute n silly little critters who absolutely love physical affection. Both giving and recieving.

The chief of their tribe is a brown racoon named Zubari.

The tribe often dances around the Tree of Joy every night as their own ritual of sharing life energy and happiness to the tree.

There is also a ritual where every week, where a volunteer offers themselves to get tickled by the tree to gift them their laughter, and to satisfy its tickly tendencies to prevent it from causing distractions and pranks.

🌲Landmarks🗺

-Tree of Joy🌳

Also known as the tree where the tickle monster's spirit rests.

It is the largest pompom tree located in the very center of the forest.

Its rumored that the spirit wakes up every now and then and lurks around the forest.

-Leisurisis Lake🌊

A lake in Puffbloom forest that's rich in plant and aquatic animal life, connected to Titter river.

It is rumored that mermaids and sirens reside here, looking out and saving land and air critters that can't swim.

-Titter River🏞

A river that circulates through the entire forest.

The stream current is usually calm and slow unless its raining/storming.

The Tinglewing village resides right by the river-side.

-Cotton Fields🌼

A large field of flowers of different variety. From normal ones to tickly ones.

Watch your step whenever you decide to visit these fields~

Flutterfluff is the closest village to the Cotton Fields.

A lot of Pocchies can be seen floating around the fields as well, since flowers are one of their main food sources.

Other insects like bees, caterpillars, butterflies, etc can be seen too. And the area is beautifully lit at night by fireflies.

-Pocchi den💮

Right beside the Cotton fields is a large pocchi den consisting of almost 50 pocchies.

A lot of nests decorated with flowers and vines can be seen hanging from the trees.

They often float around at night, so its possible to see a group of pocchi glowing in different colors as they fly through the night sky.

-Abandoned Cottage🏚

A mysterious, lone, wornout cottage that sits somewhere in the forest.

A few villagers from Flutterfluff explored it one day and came back saying that it was "haunted by a ghost".

Once you step inside, you could feel a bunch of cold ghostly fingers walking up your sides.

Whoever used to live in the cottage is unknown. But it is rumored that the old owner of this cottage is now the ghost that lurks within it.

1: Anime girls are not real people, they are drawings, they are costume ideas. Since there is no real minor to protect, it is that character's LIKENESS that anime-Karens are trying to restrict. To restrict her likeness in that way means we are forbidden from being attracted to anyone that even looks like her.

1.5: Calling everyone "pedophile" willy nilly only makes the word lose it's status. Pedos are supposed to be the most despised minority, even the scummiest criminals hate pedos. But when 9/10 of the population can be labeled pedos over stupid reasons like anime girls, pubic hair, 18-year-olds, young-looking adults, etc then that word will mean nothing.

2: Anime girls do not age like us. We get older but they don't. Most of these "underage" drawings would be well over 18 if you added the # of years since their show came out. So if a character is permanently underage that means nobody is ever allowed to have the hots for her? Nobody can even age her up?

2.5: If I find a drawing of a beautiful girl attractive, that is a compliment to the artist's skills, not a condemnation of my character. If someone like Komi or Shirahoshi is SUPPOSED to look super-attractive & we fall for her, that means the animators did a great job.

3: They resemble adults. In anime for every loli, there's a girl under 18 who looks like an adult (Komi, Momo, Evergarden, Eliz Liones). So if an artist draws a beautiful naked woman & a bunch of horny straight guys find it hot, they become pedophiles the moment the artist decides she's under 18? Isn't that a form of entrapment? If a drawing resembles an adult, she should be treated as such.

3.5: What real 16-year-old girl has natural pink hair & pink eyes? or green hair + green eyes? These are shows where Japanese people look like Nordic white people. Stop taking it so seriously.

4: If having the hots for underage heart-throbs like Reimi, Momo, Komi, or Nagatoro makes them a "Pedophile", then by the exact same logic, anyone with the hots for anthro girls like Lola from Space Jam, Gadget from C&D R.R, or Amy Rose from Sonic MUST be labeled as Zoophiles. "Buh Lola looks human enough so it's not beastality" Then these anime minors look adult enough so it's not pedophilia.

5: Anyone crying "pedo" over barely-underage drawings would have a heart attack if they went to an anime convention. Vendors there openly sell pillow covers & obscene mouse pads of young characters. By their logic, every vendor selling any sexual merch of non-adult characters is equal to a child trafficker.

5.5: Is it pedophilia for an adult woman to cosplay an underage character? Or for a man to be attracted to an adult woman while she's dressed like an underage character? Most popular cosplayers have done sexy cosplays of Asuka, Sailor Moon, Bunny Bulma, Jinx, & other fictional minors. How about the dub voice actresses? Many VAs have signed or sold sensual drawings of underage girls they've voiced. If a VA is cool with men calling her (16 yo) character a waifu is she a pedo accomplice?

6: The ones screaming "pedo" CANNOT DEBATE IN GOOD FAITH. Don't let these bullies fool you. Anyone screaming "pedo" over mature anime girls is 100% doing it for corrupt power-hungry reasons. These people are lowlife abusers, they just wanna pick on someone. They are WEAPONIZING the ages of these drawings, they see Momo's age as a free pass to bully anyone who thinks she's hot. If they truly thought you were a danger to kids, they wouldn't be talking shit to you at all, they'd be quietly gathering evidence or calling the police. If you debate them as to why simping for waifus is not pedophilia, they will pull every dirty trick from the narcissist handbook to paint you as bad as possible.

7: There is no correlation between real life pedophilia & anime """pedophilia"""". Anime Karens/Antis have argued that normalizing the sexualization of fictional minors will lead to the normalization of real life pedophilia. This is EXACTLY like the argument that violent videogames will lead to more shootings. You know what else is normalized in anime? Training & exercise! Yet alot of anime fans are still morbidly obese or horribly out of shape. Anyways people know murder is wrong, even when it's depicted in fiction, so the same logic applies to fictional teens being sexualized. Most sane people know the difference between a fictional minor being sexualized & real kids being sexually exploited. If someone doesn't know that, they were already a creep, just like how if a gamer doesn't know that violence is wrong irl, they already had issues. There is no "can kinda blur the line between real & fake." Most people know the difference between real & fake. The human brain isn't gonna start finding real kids attractive because it enjoyed Highschool DXD or Cat Planet Cuties.
