90: “ Catch me if you can! ” + kakagai

The wind rushed through Kakashi's hair as he jumped through the trees, his eyes darting back to where his comrad chased after him.

It was always fun, finding a little time to goof around after a mission. Before they got home to Konoha where Kakashi had to put his 'strong shinobi' face back on.

He was certain no one else in the village would ever belive some of the stories that Gai could tell them about Kakashi's personality. They had only ever seen 'stone faced Kakashi' after all, so how could they belive a word about the playful mutt that Kakashi actually was?

"Would you..." he chuckled to himself. Gai was starting to sound annoyed, which meant only one thing could happen next.

Which is why it came as no surprise when Kakashi ultimatly found himself colliding with the other man, who had managed to go from being about 5 strides behind him, to appearing directly in front of him.

"Hi..." he smiled up at the other man, chuckling when the annoyance washed away from Gai's face, replaced instead by an easy, soft smile "you caught me."

"You're definitly no Pakkun when it comes to speed," Gai chuckled, wrapping his arms around the smaller man and pulling him into a tight hug "how do you never have this much energy back home?"

"Others don't need to see me this energetic." Kakashi dismissed, burying his face into Gai's neck and taking a deep breath. That scent was still intoxicating. It always had been. Safe, warm...familiar. he loved it more than any other scent in the world.

""A sight just for me i guess," Gai chuckled fondly "you ready to go home now?"

"Five more minutes," the words came out as a soft whisper, his eyes already starting to grow heavy with sleep. Sleep wasn't for now though. That was for when they were back home, safe and now.

For now...

He tugged himself away from Gai's arms suddenly and beamed up at the other man "race you home," he chuckled, not waiting for a response before he burst around Gai's body and continued in the direction towards Konoha.

There was no doubt about who would win

Gai rarly ever lost a race if he really put his soul into it. Kakashi's speed was no where close to his.

But it was still fun, hearing that exasperated sigh as Gai took off after him once again.

when I started shipping it if I did: After i got into Naruto again XD Actuall about when i stumbled across your blog so the fact that you’re asking me this is very fitting XD All my Kakagai, sort of because of you lol

my thoughts: Adorable! These two deserve happiness and life together and absolutly nothing is allowed to take that away from them. They struggled and fought so much to get where they are now and they deserve it.

What makes me happy about them: The fact that Gai refused to ever give up on Kakashi and let him suffer alone, and that Kakashi is so soft and kind when he’s around Gai. We know he’s a kind man, but he always blocks himself off from everyone around him, but Gai is one of those very few people where he is just...so soft. He’s allowing himself to be vulnerable and happy and it’s rare and so beautiful to see.

What makes me sad about them: That Kakashi was so scared and broken for so long he thought the only thing he could do was push Gai away. Keep him at arms length from him and refuse to let him in to help because he was a ‘strong shinobi’ and he was lead to belive that showing weakness or emotions of any kind would make him weak. But Gai wanted so badly for Kakashi to be ok he never cared about any of that good strong shinobi bullshit. He just wanted Kakashi safe and happy and healthy and Kakashi denied himself that for so long.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: Clingy Gai. Yes Gai adores Kakashi and wants to be close to him, but Gai has his own team and his own life and he has never hinted at being clingy with Kakashi. Forward yes, but he doesn’t need to have Kakashi by his side 24/7. They have their own lives and he’s ok with that as long as he gets time with Kakashi when they can have it.

Also the fact that we never got to see Gai properly react to Kakashi’s death against Pein. Yes Kakahsi lived but there’s no way Kakashi’s death didn’t affect both of them somehow. I can’t believe Gai got all the way back to Konoha and didn’t find out what happened to Kakashi. His own Sensei was there, i firmly belive Choza would have seen Gai, or seen Neji helping Hinata, and tried to get Gai to Kakashi because he would know how important they are to each other and he would want Gai to know what happened.

things I look for in fanfic: Fluffyness. Kakashi being allowed to be emotional without being overly emotional. Kakashi breaking down and crying when he needs to, being happy, enjoying himself around Gai. The mask of Kakashi Hatake coming down so that Kakashi, friend and lover of Maito Gai, can come out for just a little while.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: for Gai i could see him with Genma or Iruka? For Kakashi i’m pretty solid on either Gai or Yamato.

My happily ever after for them: Basiclly what they got in the end of the series but with them clearly being a couple. No questions asked these two are together and they are happy and finally able to relax.

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Swi tches up. Kakashi usually likes to be the little spoon with Gai so he can feel warm and protected with someone, but sometimes he also likes being the big spoon. espeshally after Gai has been injured badly or is just in a state of being exposed in some way. Kakashi likes having those moments where he can curl aorund Gai and protect him with his body.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Sparing but also baking/cooking together. It’s a nice relaxing activity with a fun result at the end and if they get into a bit of a food fight well...it’s their kitchen to clean up anyways lol
