Til The Blood Runs Clear. Not a big fan of the alpha male play in the beginning and oh Furlow how I hate you for what you will do you sleazy bastard. But still a good ep imo. The Zhaan and Rygel scenes are amazing.
Also Crichtons sad face when he tells D’Argo they’ll never be friends. Such a cheesy line but together it’s both hilarious and fitting.
But. But but but. The point of this. Aeryn not accepting help when blind is giving me a lot of feels and I am in desperate need of fanfics about the time before her sight is restored. (So far I’ve found one on Terra Firma). If anyone knows any other ones pretty please with cherry on top can you tell me?

Here it is - the moment my heart switches from like to love, for Crichton and the show, on every rewatch.
It is such a little moment. Aeryn and John escaped and Aeryn made contact with Crais, her superior officer. Of course, neither John nor Aeryn know that Crais wants to kill John because of the accident which killed Crais' brother (And this is so the Farscape ethos - John is doomed and hunted for a moment of pure bad luck that happened the moment he ended up here, a moment he did not know about and cound do nothing to change. As he said in a much later episode, they’ve basically found the map to the cruelty of the universe.)
And there is the scene. John is captive, peacekeeper guns all around him. Crais circling him like his personal piece of property (Poor John. This is only a start. This is not the Aurora Chair, not Grayza, not Scorpius, not Scarrans, not Harvey). John watchful and realizing the wrongness (and OMG his innocence breaks my heart) and Crais telling him he'll dissect him. And Aeryn speaking up and telling Crais (and I love this. She didn't have to say anything. She didn't have, she should know it's a risk in such a society) that she didn't believe John was capable of killing Crais' brother because he is not intelligent or brave enough. And Crais, crazy Crais, fixating on her and asking her in this tone 'just how much time did you spend with this human?' And. And. And. This is the moment I fell in love with John Crichton all over again. He gives this quick, intense glance at the situation and he speaks up (to Crais), quietly and a little bit desperately: 'Not much, not much at all.' Why? It's so hard to put into words. I think because in the middle of all this (where there is the probability of him being killed in a gruesome fashion) he speaks up for Aeryn automatically, without the second thought. Maybe because even though as an alien he has no idea what is going on, he catches on so quickly, judges it so quickly, recognizes the danger to her, before she does herself. Maybe it's the seriousness, and the intensity, and the reassuring little nod he gives to her. Even utterly helpless himself, he tries to save Aeryn. This Crichton is not yet the Crichton that will literally turn the galaxy upside down to save the woman he loves, not someone who will make impossible choices and bear it all, but it's all in there already, all the qualities, and you can see that. In a way, knowing how all of these people will end up makes it even more delicious. Seeing Crais, all neat and orderly, before he went so crazy and AWOL (and his dishevelment definitely paralleled his fall from grace) and way before he redeemed himself. Seeing D'Argo as a self-concerned, immature, angry being. Seeing Aeryn as Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun, not a complex evolving human being yet, not a woman, not a being of her own will. But the seeds are still there. I cannot imagine other peacekeepers speaking up for John, trying to save him a bit. When John says 'You can be more' that is the thing. There is a 'you' in her to be more. There is something to start with. She has a soul that is not warped past return. And the chemistry between the two? Amazing. Even in this first ep, where they are nothing more than reluctant allies at first, disdain on her part and confusion on his. Btw, that first meeting? I love it love it love it so much. I watched 'pilot' after I've seen S4 and I remember going, as Aeryn threw him against the bulkhead and hit him and then demanded his rank and serial number. 'John, meet the future mother of your child.' Heh. God. It amazes me how far the two will come and yet how organically. And it's so true about all the relationships. Watch D'Argo and Crichton interact here: the anger on D'Argo's part the 'he is crazy' on John's. They don't even tolerate each other and yet by the end they are the best of friends. I love that Farscape, even though its romantic relationship was so crucial (didn't David Kemper or someone describe Farscape as a 'love story') also had all these incredible, well-developed, organic, fascinating other relationships: friendships, familial. Another thing I love? John saves the day with his brain. God, how much do I love that. He is a scientist, not a military guy, not a 'space jockey' like his Dad. He is a scientist. And that is why he can never get used to collateral damage, to killing, no matter how much of it he does, he is forced to do. And the show never forgets that. Farscape is one of those rare fictions (because I am not just talking about shows, but movies and books as well) where I do get convinced that John is indeed brilliant. And that he loves the science, he loves discovery, he loves the work. Despite wormholes being tainted so much with everything else, he is genuinely excited, involved in working on them. I keep remembering the S3 finale where even though he is pretending to work for Scorpius, he can't help but get into it, where equations literally pour out of him in scribbles everywhere, on windows, on pieces of paper, writing on his own arms. John is an obsessive. Here it is yet small: he wants to prove his theory. And even in the middle of the escape he is excited that it's proven. His obsessiveness will of course be brought out spectacularly by his stress later on, and his feelings, but it's already here.   But to get back to what I was saying: I just love that he gets to win with his brain. And that is consistent. Because that is why he becomes the defacto leader of Moya. Not his amazing fighting prowess. He becomes quite competent in the later seasons, but he will never be pure warrior the way D'Argo or Aeryn are. It's his brilliant, crazy, completely creative plans. That, and the power of his conviction. John's conviction is an utter, absolute, contageous thing. It's not brought out fully yet, but I am struck by the foreshadowing of when he tells Aeryn to come with them, tells her she can be more, changes her life. It's the same conviction that will later have him walk into a Scarran station, unarmed, most wanted man in the galaxy, to get Aeryn out. And getting the Moya crew to come with him.   But then, all of John is already here, just not forced to the surface yet. His crazy humor as way of coping with the insane universe about him. The core of steel (he is lost and dazed in this new word which is great because he is in a way proxy for the audience, but he doesn't bend before D'Argo e.g. and he is adamant to D'Argo about taking Aeryn with them or no one escapes), the inner decency and basic kindness (that kindness will be almost beaten out of him but shadows will always remain) when he tapes up the broken eye-stalk of the DRD - “merely” a mechanical critter on Moya. Oh. GUH.
@mousieta I am so glad we are doing this!

got tagged by @riosgoodgirll for this game like [checks notes] almost two weeks ago, sorry it’s super late but it got long because I ramble about ladies I like
rules: list 10 different female faves from 10 different fandoms, then tag 10 people
under cut, because it really did get long
1.       Farscape – Aeryn Sun Where do I start with her? She is everything. She’s one of the earliest examples that I can remember seeing on tv of a strong female character that has trouble connecting to her emotions, while the male counterpart of her pairing is the one who wanted to talk about his feelings. She’s also a tough soldier for a dodgy race of militant space-humans (but not really humans) whose sole purpose in life is to fight and die, and through her relationship with her fellow shipmates, learns that there’s more to life than following orders and killing people. I just love her more than words can say. She definitely broke the mould.
 2.       True Blood – Jessica God, she’s so sweet. I love her character growth. She goes from this god-fearing teen girl, to spoilt, angry goth baby vamp, to total sweetheart with a serious vicious streak when it comes to protecting those she loves. Also she’s more beautiful than I have words for and I am so gay. Like, I could look at her for hours, wow what a face.
 3.       Buffy the vampire slayer – Buffy The OG strong female lead, the first of many in my life. Also one half of my first foray into enemies to lovers shipping – you never forget your first, as they say! I love her cheery wisecracks as she kicks vampire ass, the way she mimes staking, and her bouncy shampoo-commercial-hair
 4.       Harry Potter – Hermione I saw so much of myself in her when I was a young, frizzy-haired bookworm that I immediately identified with her, hard, and she’s left a permanent mark on my heart. I only liked her more as the series went on and more of her ‘flaws’ were layered onto her character, which really brought her to life in my mind. I say ‘flaws’ because I fucking love how vindictive she is and how much of a flaw is being intelligent enough to find dirt on people that you can blackmail them with, really? Especially if they’re sucky people. When she doesn’t like someone she absolutely destroys them, mad respect.
 5.       Penny Dreadful – Vanessa Ives I have a type, and she is it. Dark, brooding and with otherworldly good looks (I still remember Eva Green as the witch Serafina Pekkala the best) I still can’t recall her character without getting a pang in my chest. The show’s ending DID HER SO DIRTY but we won’t get into that, I’m just gonna talk about why she’s my fave, I promise. She is so mentally strong and yet simultaneously so fragile at the same time, I want to take care of her so bad. The Devil with a capital D has been trying to possess her all her life, and she is in constant mental battle against him, and she just never stopped trying (until the stupid finale but we aren’t talking about that!) and she’s so strong, I adore her. When she does a tarot card spread you can’t look away, her gaze is so piercing and haunting.
 6.       LOTR – Éowyn This is another one that got a strong hold of me in my formative years and shook me to my core. From the moment I read the ICONIC ‘what do you fear my lady?’ speech I was a fan for life. I strongly identified with her attitude to life (I, too, fear growing old and useless) and her totally boss moment against the Witch-King (more like BITCH king) made her my hero. Whenever I rewatch LOTR I have a stupid sappy expression on my face when she’s on screen.
 7.       The Walking Dead – Michonne Back when I watched this show, and when she graced our screens for the first time I was shaking with excitement. She had such an iconic look – the dreads, the bandana, the katana slung over her back. Her strong & silent archetype was something I was very into, and enjoyed watching. She just oozes cool. The only one on the show with the skills to use something other than a gun on a daily basis, so her kills were not only skillful but super stylish too! Oh and I really liked the vibe she had with Andrea – they should totally have been gfs but network tv are cowards
 8.       Killing Eve – Villanelle the inherent eroticism of a woman who is trying to kill you. I find assassins sexy, always have, don’t judge me. I really enjoy the fine line Jodie Comer straddles playing her as a sociopath with feelings that can get hurt. Also the chemissssstry with Eve is *chefs kiss*
 9.       Lirael – Lirael She spends her entire life up until early young adulthood feeling out of place and wondering why she doesn’t belong, and I just want to hug her. She is so lonely that she teaches herself a spell to MAKE HER OWN DOG (which is 100% relatable tbh) and then she and the dog strike out on their own adventure, which is super cute and heart warming to me. She’s so shy and withdrawn at first but then she really grows into herself with time, and teaches herself to be more confident in her own abilities, despite the fact that these don’t necessarily match up with the powers she has dreamed of her whole life.
 10.   GLOW – the whole cast Ok so it’s cheating a bit but how can you choose one favourite woman from that whole cast? Everyone is amazing and has their own strengths and character flaws, their own little quirks… it’s such good writing, real shame the show was cancelled (another ‘rona casualty)
and I’ll tag anyone who sees this and wants to do this because I can’t think of 10 whole people lol

Shipper Questions - 10, 22, 25, 31 :)
10. Do you ship any characters that have never met?
Interesting question, though I have to say no. Can't think of any pairing that would fit this description.
22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?
Aeryn Sun and John Crichton from Farscape have the best chemistry I've ever seen on any show ever. And if you see the actors talk about each other, both back then and now 20 years later, you see such deep respect for each other. They got along super well and it showed on screen.
Kili and Tauriel have such few scenes together in the Hobbit movies, and yet you do believe that they are meant to be together.
Everyone on The Musketeers had great chemistry, so I'm happily multishipping there :D You can also pry the Leverage OT3 out of my cold dead hands ;) And having just rewatched The Man from UNCLE, I'm also happily shipping those three together!
And Clint and Natasha had great chemistry, too bad the movies decided to go a different route.
25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching a show/movie because of gifs and graphics or similar?
Yes, for sure. I know I shipped Styles and Lydia on Teen Wolf before I'd ever watched an episode, same for Miss Fisher and Jack :)
31. Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love.
Oh boy... Okay, so there's this D&D podcast that I love, which is called "Not Another D&D Podcast" or NADDPOD. I ship Moonshine and Hardwon so much and I personally believe that she's gonna be his first :D It's canon that he doesn't have much experience with sex, being a human who grew up among dwarves and being seen as not super attractive to them. I think he might have internalized that a bit too much and now doesn't think Moonshine, who's a kinda hillbilly half-elf, would ever be attracted to him. But I'm sure she is and I really hope they figure their shit out :D
Thank you for asking these questions, they were cool!
You guys, ask me all the shipping questions!

A Bug’s Life
Crichton’s peacekeeper accent gets me every time.
But let’s talk avoid my favourite subject. Aeryn. Her face when Larraq asks her to go special ops and join him. That she’s being wasted in her current position. Gah! The similarities between that scene and the one with Velorek, she must’ve been so reminded of that especially with the clothes she and John are wearing and such. (And had they met earlier they def would’ve slept with each other). Larraq telling her she’s great in action and that she has potential, with her knowing she can never become anything in the peacekeeper world anymore. It must’ve hurt so much. And Claudia Black nails portraying all the emotions as usual.
Also a quick scene I didn’t remember. Aeryn stopping both Larraq and Thorne from shooting the others by diverting their guns almost simultaneously. My gal’s got moves<33
On final note. When Crichton says “You got lucky; he missed your heart” and Aeryn answers “Closer than you think”. Does she only refer to the fact that he hit her paraphoral nerve or also in the metaphorical sense? Personally, considering her usual (lack of) approach to emotions I don’t think she’d herself consider, let alone admit out loud, any potential romantic attraction between her and Larraq, high on Zhaan’s medicine or not. However, I think she could be saying it as a response to the fact that he, his promises and having peacekeepers on board in general reminded her of everything she has lost. Both by being banished and the whole story about Velorek. (Technically Velorek wasn’t in the picture when this was written so from the writer’s point of view it can’t be about him specifically, but I still don’t think Aeryn emotions-are-a-weakness-I’m-above Sun would consider Larraq touching her heart in a romantic sense).

Okay so the flying lesson in The Flax was actually (at least partially) Aeryn’s idea?! Zhaan states early on that “Aeryn believes that anything we can do to make Crichton more effective the better” when D’Argo is bitching about them wasting time. The idea of Aeryn taking Crichton “under her wing” and making sure he’s learning stuff makes me very happy thank you very much.
Also as often mentioned I love bitchy S1 Aeryn, but every time I rewatch the early eps I’m also reminded about D’Argo. So moody and impatient and listen-to-me-I’m-the-boss. I remember the first time around that I wasn’t all too fond of him bc of it, but now, knowing how much he’ll grow and what and actual leader he’ll become I just think it’s funny how he tries to order the others.

Rewatching They Have Got A Secret and I just love how, not only here but throughout all of Farscape, everyone is so confused about Moya’s layout (theories about her always changing to accommodate I so agree). Like, them always always asking Pilot about their current location. Imagine living on a ship like that. I would be running around all day every day to learn as much as possible and find my way around so that I can mess with others.
Also Aeryn still having remnants of Pilot’s DNA is like one of my favourite story developments ever.

Rewatching Farscape 1x01 and got to the part where Aeryn’s prowler is pulled in… and now I really want a fanfic about how she gets knocked out and put in the cell. Like, did D’Argo do it? A DRD? Just imagine pissed off bitchy S1 peacekeeper Aeryn realising she might’ve fucked up big. There’s no way she went down without a fight.

For some reason I have the energy to rant about every second episode and it’s not intentional. Anyways. Durka Returns. Or as my brain prefers to remember it - first real bondage ep.
Chiana! Our no.1 troublemaker has finally arrived. Btw I’d forgotten how scary the Nebari mind cleansing actually is as a concept.
Triple giga kudos to the puppeteers bc Rygel is a masterpiece in this ep. The range of emotions he goes through sends me every time. Also him drawing Durka’s attention from Aeryn when she’s terrified bc he’s going to torture her with extreme heat? Rygel my sweet grumpy little toad. I agree with Jonathan Hardy (and David Kemper I believe also talked about it?). Rygel is one of the most intelligent people in the show alongside Scorpius. He just doesn’t bother to show his experience all that often. Yes I will write my meta about him one day. One day.
Also Aeryn on her knees all tied up and pissed off about it? Good good tv I like. I think it’s a look that suits her very much thank you.
Plus the scene where she draws both guns from those great cargo pants. Yes this ep is very fine.

A Human Reaction.
So much to say about it but I gotta sleep so I’ll just bring up this headcanon that I have but that I cannot for the life of me remember from where I first heard it.
The theory that the baby was created on the fake earth. Aeryn can keep an embryo for seven cycles. It is established in 2x01 what happened on the fake earth between them was real. It is also around this time Aeryn begins to change / become more “human” for real. Could it be hormones (and possibly human (John’s!) DNA) that is affecting her from this moment on.
Idk I just read something about it ages ago and it has stuck with me ever since. Also it would mean that the baby is both John’s. Which I for some reason like.
Also Aeryn is looking fineee as usual. And the smooth twist she does after asking John on whose side he is immediately followed by her knocking a soldier out? I like.

The fact that the wormhole weapon aka the black hole that ended the entire show in peacekeeper wars was literally referenced to already back in the fifth episode is just one of the many things that make me love Farscape so much.
