teenage! brother’s best friend! johnny and simon ⁉️
you aren’t fond of secondary school for the most part. it wouldn’t be half as bad if you could hang out with si and johnny, but they’re two years above you. year nine is the worst year for you so far, and year eleven seems rocky for both johnny and simon. its safe to say that tensions are a little high.
you take a seat outside during lunch, nestled up in the crook of the playground that faces the muga— it lets you pry into what the boys get up to when you’re not around.
it’s weird watching simon’s social life, when he’s not having to hide you under his wing like the protective big brother he is. he’s still stoney faced but… he seems a lot more boisterous and talkative, that’s for sure. he seems to take football with the lads pretty seriously, talking strats with his team before the next kickoff. a couple of them shoot glances at each other behind his back, finding humour in how into the game he is.
and then there’s johnny, talking absolute shite on the pitch, unable to stop waffling between his powerful lunges towards the pitch. he’s halfway through a rant about his recent grade in religious studies when he completely misses the goal. the majority of his team are groaning, meanwhile he’s still pensive and wound up about his grades. how has he managed to get a D in religious studies, he’s a catholic for fucks sake!
besides, you know that football isn’t really johnny’s thing. he’s more of a rugby lad, which simon likes to tease him about.
“oh yeah? i think you’re just lookin’ for an excuse to be surrounded by big sweaty men, ‘ent you, johnny boy?”
“shite off, monsi. yer just jealous ye don’t get tae see me all sexy like on the pitch, aye?”
(admittedly, you do have to give credit to johnny where it was due, he did look sexy when playing rugby. you and simon once went to one of his practice matches and simon was baffled when he turned to face you and you were all red faced.)
you eat your sandwich while continuing to observe the boys, feeling a pang of gratitude for having them in your life. they were good lads, especially simon. and when your small group of friends finally escaped their detention and made their way to your little alcove in the playground, your appreciation for the boys was greatly enhanced when they all started to fuss over them. well, kind of. any gross lovey dovey shit over simon was unappreciated.

Various betrayal headcanons due to my illnesses
The ambush happens in Half Life anyway, so originally it was gonna go how it does in Half Life, but then Benrey was introduced into the equation and the soldiers decided there could be an easier way to get Gordon into the ambush room.
They basically told Benrey "Look, we only want Freeman, if you lead him to a specific room, we'll ambush him, take him to Topside for… 'questioning', and once we're through with him we will let you and your team go free, turn a blind eye and say we got all of you and let you get eaten by some of those creatures"
Benrey isn't that stupid. He's stupid, but not stupid enough to blindly trust military soldiers. (In his worldview, the US military is Bad, so anything they say must be a cover for something.) He can tell that they're gonna kill Gordon. But unfortunately for all, he's under the assumption that Gordon can respawn. So obviously, get Gordon killed, and the soldiers will assume he's permadead. From there, meet up with Gordon again, get him out of the suit (too identifiable), and then they'll be able to get out alive.
(That part was also a lie. They were never gonna let the rest of the team go. They'd just kill Gordon, then kill the rest of the team. Get rid of the leader, it's easy to pick everyone else off.)
Benrey got Bubby involved because they're besties and because Bubby went off to play soccer with him while the others were discussing their dreams. Bubby agreed because Gordon was being an annoying little bitch and was holding back his speedrun strats :/
And obviously, we know the ambush went absolutely perfectly according to plan is what I would say if I was a fucking liar.
Bubby was pretty much excited the entire time until the arm came off
Benrey started off fuckin HYPED but then Gordon got more beat up and there was more blood and he started to be like "wait this sucks actually"
Once Gordon was in the room and got attacked, Tommy tried to get in to save Gordon, but was being held back by Bubby. He was fuckin TERRIFIED for Gordon's life.
And Dr Coomer... So in Half Life, the ambush is a cutscene, yeah? Well, why wouldn't that be true in HLVRAI too? It's just Half Life with VR and absurdly advanced AI slapped on top of it. The main plot stays the same, though the details are VASTLY different. Therefore, the ambush is just a cutscene with altered context. The gang can talk over it, yes, but it's still a cutscene. Meaning they can't interfere, no matter how much they want to. If anyone tries to walk into or out of the room, they'd just hit an invisible wall. They can't get through it no matter what- can't clip, can't break it, can't do anything.
You will never guess who steps forwards to help and hits the invisible wall first! it's dr coomer
This does not help with his existential crisis (and may have caused him to go full clone fight)
And then Gordon lost his arm and even without the wall, everyone was too shocked to even try to step forwards and help him.
They weren't meant to cut off his arm. That was never discussed with Benrey or Bubby.
Coomer managed to drag Tommy away with him (Tommy needed a minute alone to just completely freak out because What The Fuck, Coomer needed to be alone because not just What The Fuck but also the invisible wall didn't help)
Bubby stayed with Benrey due to guilt, and about half the soldiers dragged Gordon away. The others stayed behind to thank Benrey (they were unaware he'd gotten Bubby involved), and Bubby became FUCKING FURIOUS and attacked them
The remaining soldiers managed to overpower Bubby and drag him off to his tube (which they told Bubby), and Bubby was freaking the fuck out yelling for Benrey (the only other one around at this point) to FUCKING HELP HIM HE'S GONNA GO BACK IN HIS TUBE
Benrey was too in shock to do anything but just stare at Gordon's arm that whole time. He didn't move for a long, long while. (Once he had the thought to do anything, he basically, on autopilot, found the soldiers and tore them to pieces.)
Remember how I mentioned the ambush would've happened anyway, and then the AI were introduced into the equation? Benrey and Bubby joining in with the ambush was what changed the code to have them cut off Gordon's arm.

♡ if you're ever self-deprecating around him or something of the sort, he's going to verbally attack you with compliments. moreso responding with like "What? That's stupid." and maybe following up with a compliment to the part of yourself you insulted, eg "Your face is the prettiest thing I've set eyes on. It's not ugly." he'll also be sure to kiss around that spot more often and compliment you more often and more casually.
♡ similarly, if anyone insults you intentionally or not he is on their ass, like a fucking rabid guard dog if he was present for when it happened. he'll be yelling at them, or quietly telling them off with like, a simple "Shut up." or something, depending on how bad it is. if you feel bad about it he'll once again try to reassure you that you're perfect the way you are to him and that whoever told you that was scum. he likes to be aggressive and make clever yet insulting quips since he doesn't have much of an outlet for his internal rage, and it also makes him act all cool so he sort of enjoys when somebody is being a dick because it just means he can make you watch him verbally destroy them. and he likes to impress you.
♡ if this happens but its like, prolonged harassment, he is literally going to doxx whoevers being a bitch towards you /hj. moreso, he's going to track them down and try to threaten them so badly that they don't do jack shit to you after that.
♡ i like to think glitchy is constantly moving some part of his body. he's pretty impatient, and will usually resort to thumping his foot quietly or drumming his fingers along a table. stuff like that. he will also often shove his hands in his pockets and play around with the fabric inside of it. give him a stressball, that shit will be popped so quickly. he also likes to idly throw something up in the air and catch it if hes reaallly bored. he usually does this w/ his pokeballs.
♡ this is good in a relationship if you like touch, cuz' glitchy will put his attention on you when hes bored or zoning out, and will instead often touch you or kiss you or talk to you. one of his favorite things is brushing his thumb over your hand, or running his hands through your hair or something.
♡ because you are probably pretty open with your interests to him, finding gifts for you comes pretty easy. he also just has a good natural sense for gift-giving, i'd think. like he subconsciously sees something and goes "oh, maybe you'd like that" in his head. don't ask how he gets these, he probably doesn't have money ( he manipulates his glitchy powers to duplicate the item like missingno, or just straight up teleports it to you/your home or something. likely both. )
♡ he really just thinks your the sweetest thing ever, and also you know a looot of stuff he doesn't. he's new in the real world, so watching you explain very specific things that happen in real life to him fascinates him, genuinely... its another reason why he loves your rambles. he could listen to you explain anything with a lovestruck expression ( ...which is constantly a resting neutral expression with a small smile sometimes, he's not super expressive unless hes mad. )
♡ if you're averse to certain foods or textures, he'll learn that quickly, since he does try to cook for you on occasion... maleeewife.. on first impression to most people that aren't you, he acts like he doesn't really care about you but he really really does - he's just not that expressive a lot of the time and he also is awkward with PDA.
♡ he himself probably gets overwhelmed with or icked out by a lot of food tbh so he eats pretty slowly and also has to gradually get used to certain foods with overwhelming flavors. he's used to literally not eating anything so this makes sense. its also the 'tism tho.
♡ he likes to cuddle while you do any activities you like. its comfy and he gets to see what ur doing. win/win.
♡ he's touchstarved but also hates getting touched suddenly. if you are the same he relates. due to this, early on in the relationship he'll instinctively flinch if you touch him w/o warning probably. but the further u get the more he follows you around like a lovesick puppy yearning for your touch
♡ overall he just loves u soooo sooo much.. you can say literally anything to him and he'll hum and nod and go "Uhhuh." with a small tiny little itty bitty smile on his face... this is where he feels safest. in your arms or holding you in his own while you just talk to him.

so while max said he personally thinks that there cant be 2 number one drivers in a team because obviously there can be favourism, i think he would change his perspective if the question is: could him and charles be in the same team?
he recently said in austia that he would have preferred if they had equal cars and opportunities so
i say he would love to be in the same team as charles period. like my man is starving for actual competition and charles in redbull can give him exactly that
the problem would be charles' undying adoration and denotation for ferrari (ew)
my man went through war with them (2020) and he still didnt even thought about leaving in those terrible terrible times so
but even if the chances are fucking tiny, they are never zero sooo

my hot take on this is that red bull would sign two n1 drivers just because they're less traditional and it maximises their chances of winning. i also think that charles is frankly one of the only people that max would yield to if instructed, so if rbr want to go for the strat of having two n1s on their team charles is the only obvious choice really (not even mentioning that checo and charles's contracts are up at the same time)
max is the one who would have to be convinced, but i think after winning this wdc pretty much without trying he wants some competition back at the top and charles in an equal car as him gives him that
my hot delusional take is that i don't think ferrari wants to extend charles's contract. i think to try and do damage control they're going to try to push all the blame on the drivers and off the cars and the strats and charles the pathological people pleaser is just gonna lie there and take it unfortunately. i think if it's a choice between rbr or no racing, charles will take it, and max wants to keep charles on the track with him no matter what. so yes i am delusional and fully believe in lestappen rbr 2024

About that Roadmap...
So I think now is a good time to talk about what the future of Palworld should be.
Yes, I'm aware of all the negatives that people have said about Palworld but I REALLY like the monster catcher genre, so I just want Palworld to be a better game rather than a game that has to be cancelled because it supposedly used AI or is an genuine example of plagiarism (which from the definition of the word is a semantic argument outside of literal theft).
I can't chastise people who are being short with Palworld too much because I was literally that kid that said Digimon was a knockoff of Pokemon.
I refused to watch it and argued with anyone about it. Once I actually watched the show I realized that it had nothing in common with Pokemon (no monster collection, real stakes, character development, and villains that are a real threat) and when years later Pokemon just so happen to discover the idea of Mega Evolution I was like "This is what we've come to huh? Will Pikachu be wearing jeans next?" but I really like Mega Evolution in Pokemon and play Romhacks specifically because they have Mega Evolutions in them so it's like, I don't really care who had the idea first, I care about how the idea is implemented.
So on that note, if the Palworld devs want to improve the game (after patching things up of course) the best course of action is to be more like Rimworld. Specifically Raids.
Raids are a really powerful narrative device in Rimworld. Sure Vanilla rimworld is dominated by the killbox strat but even with that, enemy raids can still erupt from the ground and drop from the sky and that's what Palworld needs.
Pathing is always going to be a bug bear and I imagine pathing patches and pathing mods will have to work together to make it really work but a good work around for raids that take place at hard to traverse areas would be drop ships.
Imagine the Syndicate driving their legally distinct LAAT, and in order to end the raid you have to destroy the ship but while the ship is there it's spawning enemy pals and humans with guns basically every 15 seconds and initially drops like a dozen of them on top of you.
What if a subterranean vehicle just bursts from the ground, destroying everything in its way and it has a big door and just a bunch of humans and pals (that can fit in the ship so small ones) just piled out and start attacking?
Raid Bosses are supposed to be a thing and I don't know how they will manifest that gameplay mechanic but it's important that raids can fuck your shit up. Might even be spicier if your pals could be killed or kidnapped in a raid that goes really bad.
Now the Palworld devs said they want to make PVP work and not have it fall apart like Rust and previous imitators have.
I looked into Rust PVP, I reflected on the many years I've spent playing PVP games.
And I just have no idea. The only thing I can think of is "Make it like EVE online." Because EVE online has this limitless skill ceiling and is basically untouchable for new players but by the same token there are tools to enable newcomers to start playing the game without much issues and the community molded itself into safe and unsafe zones and raids are these really extensive affairs that involve dozens of people fighting for weeks on end. Form alliances, breaking them up, etc.
I don't know how to put that into Palworld other than make every place outside of the safe zone territory an area where you can build a base, but you can only personally build 4 bases. Other players have to build bases and you have to take those over but when you raid a lower level person's base your level is made equal to them.
And maybe, I dunno, once you start taking bases from other players the risk of your own base being raided by AI multiplies (in terms of frequency and power), and if any player claims your base afterwards in your absence (or as a result of your defeat) then they get the pals that were stationed for that base. So new players can get high level Pals by just waiting for AI raids to attack unattended or poorly defended bases.
And there's no fast travel so once you get really far away from your base you better learn some tech to help you get to a base fast if you want to actively defend it (There's like maybe a period of 30 seconds where the base is being converted where if you show up the conversion is paused in a battlefront sort of way).
The idea is that much with the main game, you are going to slip up. The AI is going to get lucky and someone is going to steal your progress and you can either sign a truce with them or you can get revenge. And that sort of repeats over and over again until everyone gets bored or one player somehow rules the entire map.
That's my idea. That's what I do here. If anyone makes use of this idea for anything, I don't need credit, I don't need money, Just send me a slice of Pepperoni Pizza and we'll be good.

6. Favorite Chapter?
This question was answered in the previous ask, however I'm going to use this opportunity to talk about the Falkes battle (Chapter 7 Utility) because it qualifies for point 2, "which chapter I keep returning to again and again." Though I don't have any particularly strong feelings towards this chapter on a base level, however there is stuff to unpack underneath it and much potential here in my silly little brain, all of which in what this marks for the Wolfforts.
Regardless of path, Falkes's fall marks the beginning of the greater clan's fall, possibly its "end" depending on how you want to look at it. And this point or foreshadowing or whatever, Falkes is vocal about it. Utility side, he addresses Erador like what the fuck man? He had fought with Benedict and Erador, and this kind of direct confrontation between these two parties, I'm----I'm chomping at the bit. I want more of this charged tension. I want to look at it, be provoked. I want Benedict especially to get called the fuck out as the steward, as Symon's representative prior to Serenoa's lordship. It is so thematically chef's kiss.
From my experience, I know Falkes gets a lot of flack for "being stupid," "not a good lord," and "being too loyal [to the crown]," and I disagree mostly with that because that comes from a modern perspective and also Symon exists up to the north. Yes, Landroi, don't burn your fields if you don't have to, Serenoa also says that, but even then I can at least understand why he does that. It's not relevant somewhat relevant, but Silvio's approach in general is also a topic that I also can understand because he also gets flack for caution and cowardice, but his father was Gorde. We know one thing about Gorde, he was the advisor, and I think we see bits of him though Silvio, but Silvio also was raised in a different time under different circumstances so that's why it's only bits.
TL;DR I have a lot of feeling for Landroi. This is a sizable chunk of the feelings, but there's still more. There is the flip-side, Chapter 7 Morality and its Chapter 8, but I said I'd talk about the Utility side specifically, so it ends here. Also Julio as a Falkes angst lives in my mind ready to strike at any moment.
7. Favorite Battle?
This is being judged largely in terms more mechanically--map, units, etc--instead of the ramifications on story. That being said: I have little clue. The naval battle, Chapter 14 Morality, sticks out the most. Fueled by my feelings about Norzelia's river warships, it was an interesting, unexpected choice, and for that, it's kinda neat. I really liked the detail that they made the signature metal plating of Aesfrosti warships conductible. I struggle to recall if there are other maps with metal, except the mine. We also don't really get ship maps for obvious reasons, the closest thing is probably the Wolffort harbor map.
Close runner up for maps is Twins Gate though. I won't elaborate. That one's strictly vibes only.
8. Favorite Ending?
I regret to inform I am a Liberty End fan. Though anything to make Benedict Pascal "happy" is the surface level reason why I like Liberty End, but the subterranean level is how much he shoots himself in the foot with his stubborn blindness. No longer to make Benedict Pascal happy. Anything to make him go through more bullshit, especially if it's his own fault.
But not only does he shoot himself in the foot, but he also puts that last nail in the coffin and then buried Wolffort in it. Landroi is dead (head Falkes representative), Silvio is dead (head Telliore representative), Serenoa (Wolffort's head) is put on the throne--and for the sake of not trying to stammer out an alternative explanation--is then Glenbrook-ified. Sure, he retains Wolffort in name, and this probably drastically changes things for future generations of the royal line down the road, I don't have my local history expert at the moment, but anyway there's abandonment in morality, ethics, land (subjective Serenoa still technically owns it), heritage, and such. It's the Liberty end, Morality is forsaken to achieve it, and the triangle topples. Worse case, you also let Benedict Pascal do what he wants, and the land that was entrusted to the clan also underwent some damage. Don't worry captain we'll buff out those scratches.
HOWEVER, all in all, regardless of this, this is all still done while achieving at least face value of Benny Boy's catchphrase goal--for the future of House Wolffort--because the House in title is still raise to imperial household, but it's at such a steep cost to what it means to be a Wolffort. That meaning of No Matter the Cost is so delicate and fine in the Liberty End. Poetic cinema.
And with that I think at this point I am tying too many red strings between dots, so I will end there. But, if provoked I could run deeper.

Sure Max won on merit like he won on merit in AD...

Honestly, brilliant ask! You must be new here.
Did you by any chance read the header of my blog that was staring you in the face when you decided to send this ask? Because it let you know what sorta answer you're gonna get.
Also just for the record to anyone else that sees this and feels the need to air their feelings about this: I am still a Ferrari fan! And none of you have to like Max but that has zero influence on his achievements and talents as a driver!
So you are here talking about merit and as you decided not to reply to my question of what makes a driver worthy of winning a championship I am going to assume that you agree with me there.
Was the SC in Abu Dhabi a huge cluster fuck? YES!
Does that somehow make Max an unworthy wdc? NO!
The FIA being as incompetent as they are does not remove Max performances that season. And he surely wasn't "gifted" the championship as if he didn't have to work his arse off to get it.
The combination of car and driver always has to be right because nobody is going to win in a shitbox. But to me a "worthy" champion is someone who got the best out of the car and who had great performances and to a certain extent made the least amount of mistakes.
And that was Max last season! I know a lot of people have this idea of Lewis that he never makes mistakes but he did last season. That doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to win either but Max performances were in that respect better last season imo.
And Max even got unlucky with his tyre exploding in Baku when he was on for a win. I will not talk about Copse again but that also happened. But Lewis had "better luck" because he didn't have a mechanical DNF.
Last season Max was the better driver and therefore the argument of him being "gifted" anything is stupid.
And let's talk about this season. In what way is he getting the championship gifted this season?
RB built a rocket ship was he supposed to tell the engineers to make it slower because only then would a random person on the internet validate his achievements?
Is he supposed to go up to the Ferrari strategy department and sort them out because for some reason in your mind he is responsible for that and Ferrari shitting it sometimes means he is being gifted a title?
Or is he supposed to develop the reliability upgrade for the Ferrari engine?
Is he supposed to tell the Mercedes engineers how they have to fix their car so he has more opposition?
He has been driving great this season and has the best car and team atm but that is hardly something to hold against him!
As if Lewis didn't have the best car+team in all the years he won the title. That's how you win! That's how F1 works! you need the right team and the right car and then the right performances and Max just has all that this season but he is still being "gifted" a title? Lewis even had an insanely OP car in a few seasons, but you aren't complaining about that are you?
If so then multiple of Lewis titles were gifted to him.
And just in case anyone wants to bring up team orders. All teams use team orders when drivers are on different strategy or the guy behind is much faster. And some of you either chose to forget or weren't watching when Merc were the worst offenders of team orders on the whole grid.
Mercedes were using team orders all the time even if there was no tyre strat difference and when Lewis had a massive lead in the wdc. He's always been let past Bottas so team orders is a non argument.
So by your own definition of being "gifted" a title we'd need to take some titles off of Lewis too. But that's a conversation you are not ready for.
Like Lewis, be upset about whatever you want to be upset about. But why are you in my inbox spewing this bullshit.
Lewis deserves his wins and Max deserves his.
Max is a fantastic driver with great team in a great car and your salty-ness isn't gonna change that!

Ehhmmm HI EVERYONE !!!! so this is very inspired by @kafus's Pokémon liveblogging n their various playthroughs and its been so fun to follow, and it gave me the inspiration to pick up a new playthrough - or TWO PLAYTHROUGHS !!!
i realized its been forever since ive actually played FireRed LeafGreen and that ive never done it w. the help of save editing to add eg. Rare Candies for grinding. but i also realized that ive never actually played the Gen 1 Pokémon games....so i decided to do both !!!!
im doing a kinda-sorta Nuzlocke too, just to try out different Pokémon and get myself to rotate between them, but I am also moreso trying to use funny stuff more than minmaxxing for strategy. Here's my Pokémon Red team for instance!!
Yes that's Marcel the traded Mr. Mimel!! I got an Abra as my first encounter and realized that using Alakazam would just be steamrolling people with a big Special number, so I boxed it for later to use Gen 1 Mr. Mime for a while. I've rotated some of these members in and out with others in the box, mostly because the movepools are so fascinatingly terrible ^^; Like - I wanted to use Nidoking because his Gen 1 sprites are absolutely incredible, and you can get him before even the second gym from Mt. Moon's Moon Stones, but........he doesn't get Double Kick unless you get Nidorino to like Level 47?? and Nidoking misses out on Thrash unless you level him up early.
Clefable has been the absolute QUEEN of the run though, like !!! i love her silly sprite in this game so so so much, and the well-rounded stats paired with Sing make them a really good Pokémon to use in pretty much any situation. its funny how the lack of many good moves means that mediocre moves like Growl or Water Gun end up feeling useful just for being options at all...I've had some fun with the mediocre TMs given out too, like giving Bide to my Ivysaur to utilize the Leech Seed draining effect as best as possible in a sort of quirky strategy. Though on the flipside I had to give up on using Mankey entirely after realizing it just gets NOTHING in terms of moves - before Yellow it literally doesn't learn any Fighting type moves by leveling up other than Seismic Toss (which doesnt count), and the only one it gets by TM is Submission which is.....nooot good :T
Anyhow - Here's a terrible img of my FRLG team! I'm out of Rock Tunnel and in Celadon in this playthrough wheras the RBY playthrough is still not through the tunnel yet :( BUT that means that I've gotten a lot more silly goobers in this run. Even though my Mankey died here before I could use it for anything funny.....i really like Primape's design so im kinda sad I've never gotten to use it lol
ANYWAY ANYWAY look at my fucking boy. look at my Fungler. look at my little man. he has 20 diseases and he sucks ass. i love him.
i played a Gen 3 fangame a while ago that gave you access to Fury Cutter as a TM and a Paras really early on, and the gears got grinding in my head to force sleep with Spore and then chain a Fury Cutter combo, and the affection for that silly strat has stuck with me and made me kind of adore Parasect by extension. look at my fucking guy he sucks so much!!! but he puts people to sleep really well and has cool bug claws. i love his terrible movepool and having to give him Secret Power to do any damage. lol .
it is funny to play these older games where the movepools sucked ass, even as deep in as Gen 3 . so you have to really stretch for ideas on how to use mons but it feels really fun when you make something sorta click? like this Doduo Rage -> Rest -> Chesto set, it doesn't get Swords Dance nor the infinitely funnier Acupressure but this is kinda just a shittier funnier version of that? also Tri Attack being physical feels like it was made just for Dodrio. i love my bird.
im still kinda miffed at how many things just sorta suck in Kanto though. like so many routes early on are just Rattata/Pidgey/Spearow/Ekans while the Safari Zone alone has like 7 Pokémon you can only find there, the distribution feels so strange. and of course the whole Game Corner garbage, i want to use Hyper Beam in Gen 1 because of how cool its Gen 1 exclusive quirks are but its a Game Corner exclusive reward >:((( im gonna have to see if i can save edit gambling coins into the game or what.
BUT im having a lot of fun !! its so silly seeing all the Gen 1 sprites ingame for the first time. the Gen 1iness of it all. not even being able to fuckin check how strong moves are or how much accuracy they have. or even sort the order of moves outside of battles. your battle items menu just opens up your entire bag. such a silly fuckin mess of a game. i love it .

okay i need to know. what would your take on modern au/high school fugio be. OBVIOUSLY naramis too
Yes yes okay so. If you don’t mind me derailing this slightly, I do have a modern college AU that’s been living in my brain for years but I haven’t written anything for. I have little storylines for like all the JJBA characters but obviously Fugio and Naramis are there.
So all the Joestars are like. Extended family. Cousins mostly and some of them are siblings. They’re also distantly related to Giorno, and nobody knows how, but Jolyne and Josuke think he’s cool so they figure he must be alright, even if he’s also a Brando somehow. The Joestar and Brando family trees are very complicated.
Giorno goes to college to study like. Biology. Probably with minors in entomology and zoology. And besides his distant relatives (who he’s not that close to yet), he doesn’t know anyone because he doesn’t exactly have any friends. Then, at orientation, he meets Bucciarati, who’s his RA. He says he knows Giorno’s roommate, Mista, an upperclassman he was randomly placed with, and once the school year starts, he meets him and the rest of the World’s Worst Friend Group.
Fugo is a sophomore who skipped a grade back in K-12 and went to college a year early, so he’s in the same year as Narancia and Mista. He’s also an honors student, pre-law, math minor, and absolutely at his fucking limit. He was originally going to go to this super prestigious university, but when he was there for orientation/some research he’d already started, backstory stuff happens. Only difference is that his grandma is still alive, and she takes him in after his family disowns him. His admission is rescinded from that school, so he goes to The School All The Main Characters Are At instead. Narancia’s his roommate and is pulling the Best Strat Ever by majoring in aerodynamics/aerospace engineering while being dogshit at math (but not really – he’s actually quite good at it, but finds traditional teaching methods/curriculum hard to follow, so Fugo has to help translate certain things into Narancia Language). I haven’t really decided on Mista’s major lol, but he and Giorno quickly become besties and get along well as roommates – except for the fact that like. There’s an almost definite line between Giorno’s side of the room, which is pristine and orderly, and Mista’s, which is a disaster and could definitely use some air freshener.
Naramis Fugio timeline is like: Torture Trio’s freshman year, before Giorno (and Trish) join the group, Fugonara happens. They break up and quickly learn why people say not to date your roommate. Drama ensues. Mista’s sort of stuck in between it. Being vague bc I might write a fic about this someday. They reconcile eventually and all is well.
Mista and Narancia have always been close, but towards the end of freshman year and into that summer, they start getting really close. Like, having a whole encyclopedia of inside jokes and cuddling during movie nights close. But they’re not dating, and they’re very insistent about the “no homo” thing. This is a charade. They have massive crushes on each other.
Giorno develops a crush on Fugo pretty quickly. Only Mista knows about it. He thinks it’s hilarious. The gang goes out to parties a lot, so I’m thinking of some Man in the Mirror fight parallel that’s like. Stereotypical Rowdy College Party Gets Broken Up By The Cops thing, and Giorno and Fugo get into some wacky hijinks to escape without getting caught, and once they’re safe and the adrenaline dies down and they’re just laughing over how ridiculous it was, Fugo has a moment where he’s like. Holy shit. He’s cool. Oh shit I think I like him.
Naramis gets together partway through first semester. Nobody is surprised. Fugo keeps getting kicked out of his room so Narancia and Mista can make out and/or watch Sharkboy and Lavagirl for the 100th time without listening to him complain. He always ends up hanging out with Giorno, whether that’s in the library, the local coffee shop, the campus flower gardens, or his room. Silly dramatic slowburn romance ensues. Stupid college shenanigans with the gang also ensue. Really this AU is just a set of scenes in my head that are all just dumb hijinks and stuff. Maybe when I’m done with the Mista fic, I’ll put it on my to-do list and write a oneshot or two.

a day later and i can finally post the update
extremely shitty chapter for ranks because there's basically no way you're hitting both experience and tactics. that said, the obvious choice to prioritize is tactics. i've said it before and i'll say it again: tactics is universally convertible as far as ranks go; you can burn turns to build up funds or experience, but the reverse isn't possible. so, i'm very happy i was able to hit par on this one. and i'm really surprised i got as much experience as i did, because i was expecting it to be somewhere between 500-700 experience at most.
marcus was basically necessary to field if i was gonna hit tactics for this chapter. you need to rescue hector and jump him far ahead in the map if you're gonna hit 7 turns, and florina can't do it because of the archer + ballista. hell, even without them, it'd still be risky to throw florina into a swarm of enemies. so i ended up rescuing hector with marcus on turn 3 and bolted marcus towards bauker. he's thankfully durable enough to handle getting all the attention from enemies without dying. i also lucked out a bit because where like two or three different enemies could've been aggressive after being hit by marcus, they instead chose to retreat and use vulneraries, essentially removing them from the path of resistance.
lyn's people were in a really precarious position because of the two aggressive PKs, but i managed to work out kent to kill one and lyn/will doubling up on another. sain is a fucking wrecking ball and was able to take out the dangerous mercenary and myrmidon near lyn's group. the downside is that sain is like a better marcus while still having the marcus flaw of being an experience hog. probably not gonna field him until around pirate ship or the dread isle.
i mentioned her earlier, but florina is insanely useful thanks to lyn mode bonuses. TAS strats be damned, florina having like 12 strength at level 9 is fucking silly. she's also surprisingly durable compared to average due to having the angelic robe boost. i'm gonna be using the living SHIT out of her.
trying to baby kent in the mean time since he's relatively behind. still better than lowen (who's probably going to be warming the bench very very soon). i'm not sure what i want to do about erk either; i wanted to use erk to boost the experience rank, but HHM deployment slots are tight and i'm not sure it's worth my time to try and worry about experience this early. i'll meditate on it.
level ups were good or average so i'm happy. guy's coming out very nicely, lyn's not as durable as i'm used to (i always give her the angelic robe casually) but she's still a sniper rifle of a unit thanks to her strength + mani katti. eliwood got hp strength and skill, which isn't an outstanding level up, but at this point, it's better than what i've gotten so i'm happy. i've felt fairly lucky that eliwood is the only "bad" unit i've had, everyone has gotten good level ups for the most part. if anything, the only real stifling thing is deployment slots. i think i'll have to put experience on the back-burner and hope that if i need to boost it, i can use people like nino and farina to save it (yes i'm planning on recruiting farina 🤪)

I don't dislike Pierre, I really don't, but for some reason I get so happy every time Estie finishes ahead of him... I just can't lie to myself
it's so subconscious, sometimes I wonder why?! And I don't actually dislike or disapprove of any drivers accept MV and Sargent (again cannot pretend like I get good vibes out of them bc I don't), but I actually really enjoy seeing Estie/ Yuki/ Dan/ Zhou/ Valteri/ Albono sometimes even Lance racing, and have a lot of fun watching them race each other a little far back. It just feels like a whole different race is going on. And I don't know about you guys but I kinda consider 7th - 15th like a second version of the of the top 6 and nothing will change that, honestly with the cars they are driving is really like they are in a different category so 🤷♀️
Besides all that they have to handle being seen as "not so good" like they aren't driving the shitiest cars and delivering miracles half the time!! I really don't believe that just money alone could hold them on to their seats, they are good drivers!
We can see that, before Sargent got to Williams they under appreciated Alex, once they saw what a actual not so talented driver got out of their car (a.k.a has only got to the finish line like 4 times this year and all those 4 times, didn't get any of them higher than 17th) they realized real quick that Albon is great, and somehow manages point finishes and into Q2 in qualifying, with a car that barely holds itself together!
I love Mercedes and Ferrari! Lewis is still one of my favorite drivers, and the goat!
I see that somehow even though Ferrari it's at their worst, Charles manages to qualify in the top 6 all the damn time, and Carlos and him have been great at handling their frustrations with the team (we know a couple that would throw a tantrum), I admire so much the way Leclerc talks about Ferrari and he has so much love and faith for that team that he's willing to go through all these bad times and still makes clear to everyone that he's not leaving and sticking up for them! (u don't see much of that anymore, especially the other way around, teams sticking up for their drivers!!) *Not even going to talk about DeVries bcs it just gets me enraged
I love how positive George is, aways taking in the lessons and being smart about everything! He has so much talent, intelligence and heart! and won't think twice about being cunty.
Lando is doing amazing despite having to drive for that weak excuse of a team, and I'm really proud and happy to see it happening! He's talented and seems to be a sweetheart.
Oscar has been impressive and I didn't expect it! The way he got into his seat was so dramatic and chaotic, but not his fault at all!
Do I think Fernando should have stayed retired? Yes! Do I still enjoy him being a menace to everyone there? Also yes! I get angry at him every fkn race, but he owns that he's a devil's little spawn! + also one of the only one besides Lewis to stand up to RedBull + delivers entertainment!
Pierre is taking his chances and doing what he can to prove himself and establish his name as a big one for F1! + love him and Kika, so yes I do it for her at this point! + is unhinged on social media
But lately I've been watching the races for the fight for the 11th place 😭 also formula 2 is so much more entertaining (sports wise).

I have the same feeling when it comes to Pierre, I think I just like Estie bestie better and that's it yk. I enjoy watching the fight that happens between 7th and 15th place too, it's always nice and you can get a good view of drivers showing their abilities even when the car won't cooperate.
Charles, Carlos, George, and Lewis are a sight to see racing. I always look forward to seeing what they'll pull and how they'll deal with the shitty strategies when it comes to it. I don't remember which race but I remember George going from 20th to 7th (he had an incident with the car) and then the car really broke down and he dnf, but it was such a good race to watch.
I feel the same towards Fernando too, he brings entertainment t.
I think overall I agree with you on everything, hon. Lately it's been all about the fight that happens outside the podium positions because there's not really a fight when it comes to first place................
I've never tried F2, but if I ever find myself with some free time and looking forward to watching something fun I'll check it out and let you know! <3

If Holly battles, what's their battle style like?
If they don't battle though, I'm super curious, Holly + cooking ow o
lkdjaflaksdjflkajdfl so if we're talking In Defiance of Time they will do battle, and I have notes for that bc it's coming up soon in the fic again with a proper Holly vs [Spoiler] fight rather than the Ghost and Holly vs Soul Sanctum/Soul Master fight.
But first! Holly + cooking hc! So I love to hc that Holly has the cooking habits of a 19 year old stoner whenever they cook for themself, just no fucks, no worries, all combinations. Sustenance is sustenance.
But with baking it's a whole other story. I hc that when they bake they are beyond obsessed with perfection because with baking precision is key and there is a recipe to follow, whereas with cooking you can kind of get away with following the vibes. With baking they become an absolute menace, a chefzilla, all of their siblings avoid the kitchen when Holly bakes lmao. But! Everything they bake tastes ridiculously good and looks excellent.
For Holly Battle Style I shall put it under the read more bc lots of spoilers for In Defiance of Time
So! With Holly wielding a shield this time around a lot of their fight style is reliant on defense rather than offense, so they mainly try to wear their opponent down. This also becomes doubly important when they're in a dream battle because they're pretty much on the absolute nonviolence train post-Soul Master fight until about halfway through the third act(haha oh boy are they in for a ride). So their battle strat is going to involve a lot of blocking and reflecting attacks when they learn to do that bc in their dream battles they're aiming to get closer and closer to the heart of whatever regret their opponent is carrying by way of hitting them with the dream nail repeatedly bc Holly's dream battles are going to be a lil bit weird (I swear this is going to make sense in context I promise).
They're also going to get different spells! Outside of the void amplified masks of protection which, while great in a pinch, do come at the cost of a mask when they break as seen in chap 25.
The first spell they're going to get is Float from Kin before they sneak out with the dream nail to begin their journey to save Ghost, so Holly's siblings can lift them up when they're not there.
The second is going to be Teleport that they get from PK along with the Kingsoul charm, so their dad can still pull them out of harms way to contrast with how he put them in harms way in the past.
And the third one is going to be Dream Shield from Radi, so that she can act as their shield even when she's not there to contrast the way that Hollow acted as a shield against her.
So ye! Holly battle style ^^

Since you brought up back the argument re: Zandvoort and being a good team player. Guess that yesterday proved plenty that Zandvoort was not abt George going rogue but more abt strat team binning a good shot at keeping both drivers on podium (not p1 sorry). George yesterday went in for stockpile pit, he could’ve said nah staying out, instead he trusted his team and went in, but ofc they don’t crown him for being a team player do they?
I love when they tell me the "Prioritize Nicky" driver, going years without points and ready to throw his own chances away for the team, isn't a team player. Yes, he still has to learn and lot to improve but he's one of the biggest team players in the sport right now.
And it was pretty obvious after Zandvoort, that he expected Merc to do the same with Lewis and thought they both would be pitted. It was not George's fault, but truly a strategy fuck up from Merc
