Latest project:
Did you know that the official novelization of Warrior Baek Dong-soo has a different ending, one where Yeo Woon lives?
The scene from this book where Woon and Dong-soo run hand-in-hand under a starry sky has been fan translated before, but now my friend Milliecake has translated the entire book. We’re posting bi-weekly recaps of each chapter with excerpts and commentary. There are lots of huge deviations from the show, including:
- The answer to Jin-joo’s parentage takes a very different turn
- Hong never even attempts a coup
- Everything between Chun and Gwang-taek plays out differently
- There’s no gross proposals for the girls and nobody asks Jin-joo to put down her sword
- Cho-rip was never meant to be a rotten bastard
- Ji-sun actually has lines
- And Woon’s ultimate fate? It’s never been done in fanfiction before, and it’s fabulous.
If you’re curious about all the ways in which Episode 29 really robbed us, come have a read. We’re two chapters in with 28 to go!

It's the way Love for Love's Sake says 'you love your flaws in other people yet hate yourself for having them' and then shows all the love that he has for the people who struggle the way he does and then says 'can you learn to love yourself through them?' and the only answer is yes.

I'm sorry for not writing stories lately. Things have been difficult and I don't quite feel up to writing fiction yet, but I did manage to put together this very stupid drabble about Cho-rip turning into a chicken nugget.
... enjoy?

Playing Gayageum for Yeo Woon <---Linky
I swear I forgot I wrote this one.
No, really--did I link this one already? I think I forgot. But I’m on the edge of a migraine, wondering about nothing, and my cursor has disappeared. Did all those red candles and dark halls make food taste better in Heuksa Chorong? How easy is it to eat well, and how long is it before one can digest a full meal after killing a person?
I get an upset stomach if I see sad people on public transportation. Or if the pregnant receptionist with her lopsided mask looks tired as she takes my credit card.
Woon, did you really get out much?
I’ve been having cat drama at the house. The new kitty is happy. The dogs are pretty laid back and have sniffed its butt and determined its not a chicken or a plushie and that it’s fun to watch. They haven’t tried to eat it, even though it’s the size of 3 sauce packets. BUT MY BELOVED 10 YEAR OLD ICHIGO the orange tabby took offense, no matter how much love I gave him, escaped an open door and was gone for about five hours. As I was sobbing on the porch at 5 a.m. he wandered up like “meow, did you miss me?” The other cat seemed ok, but this morning pooped on my bed where Dagger the black 3 soy sauce packet kitten had been sleeping.
Then I got a headache.
Anyway, this fic is a character study that takes place during a 3 year time skip in the drama. The Sky Lord, the notorious leader of the assassin guild Heuksa Chorong is off on an indulgent killing spree, leaving his lover, Ga-ok, the Earth Lord to mentor Yeo Woon as the current leader.
Is this fic really sad? The fandom wife wrote a sad piece this week too. I had a reader write me and say she shed tears over this. I only realized later that this short story had a My Mother is an Assassin Mother’s Day vibe to it. I was sick all Mother’s Day and did a lot of my usual sobbing and eating poorly; the new kitty ate my hair and made me laugh at myself, though.
I have so many wonderful fandom plans that if I stay healthy--knock on tables, chairs, my own head--will come to fruition soon. Love, love.
