Year of Solum Event Begins!

We wish Imber well as she retires from quizzing everyone on genetics and raining on Ignis’s parade, as we usher in a new monthly event for the Year of Solum!

Solum’s event harkens back to previous team competitions we’ve had on Indomita in the past! The big old draft is preparing for some Vesanus renovations and is looking to the equines of Ortus for aid. Donations of all sorts will be appreciated at the Renovation Preparation Donation Station! Each player has been sorted onto one of three teams: Honestas, Spero, and Formido. When you visit the donation station, Solum will ask you for a random item from your horse’s inventory. If you have none of these items, you may choose to request a different item instead. If you have available donations, you can donate as many of that item as you’d like for points! You will have a maximum of five donations available at once. Once you’ve donated that many times, you will have to wait. One donation will be restored to you every half hour (up to that max of five). Donations grant you points, which can be seen in the shop side of the Donation Station. These points can be exchanged in two ways. You can exchange your points for Slate, Solum’s shop token, at a rate of 20 points per one shale, and a maximum of 30 slate per player per day. You can donate your extra points to your team’s score! Solum’s shop this year features two companions: The Philippine Eagle and the Barrington Iguana. It also features two new genes - Tinguo (Espresso) and Caenos+! Tinguo (Espresso) will overlay a faint espresso color on your horse like other Tinguos. Caenos+ requires Caenos to activate, but will turn countershading, celo, sooty, and evorsus into the Caenos (brown) shade! Here’s some examples:

Solum’s Gift is the God’s special item. When used, this item activates a bonus for all leader horses in the faction for 3 days (72 hours - starting from when the item is used). This bonus will increase the leaders’ chances of finding NPCs, and also increase the chance that those NPCs will have more genes! So why donate to your team, besides the joy of saying “Hah! We win!”? Well, we have some excellent prizes planned. We’ll reveal these prizes soon, but for now, know that prizes will be awarded to: -- All donating participants on all teams. --  All donating participants on the winning team. -- The top donors for each team. What’s this mean? As long as you donate to your team at least once, you will get one prize; if you donate and your team wins, you’ll get two. And if you’re one of the top donors, you’ll get three! It’s okay - Solum might ask for items that aren’t currently released, and you can always ask for a new item. However, there are also many crafting recipes that have been enabled, and crafted items tend to give more points! We’ll also soon be revealing the names of recipes to help you discover them, but get your crafting caps on! So good luck, and have fun! New Iguana & Sea Lion Colors Plus Catura Flash Sale

Hello everyone! We've got a few treats for you today. First up, we have several new companion colors. Green Iguanas (found already in the wild) now have three new color variations thanks to Flamesong: light green, blue green, and albino. Meanwhile, Lith's brought us the leucistic sea lion! All of these are out in the wild right now, or you can use a companion coat changer. Today on Discord we were asked if the Baby Starter Packs were still stocking in Catura, and the answer is no. These were removed because they were a severe imbalance to the game's economy, both between players and to the Chrysos market in general. While they won't be a part of her regular stock any more, they may still appear on special flash sales. Speaking of which, I've thrown in some things for the next few days in Catura's shop: all of the Instant Aptitude items (yes, including the ones from Caussa), Auto Aging, and +25 AP. These will be in there until the shop resets on rollover into Monday next week. Speaking of next week, Halloween is coming, and that means some spooky presents and treats are bound to appear.... Halloween Party Is Here Again!

It's Halloween once again! Can I first just say that the staff have been thrilled to bits by all of the trick or treating in our threads? Not to mention all the great roleplay? You guys are really making us smile! And we hope we're doing the same in turn. But we've got this last day to celebrate this spooky holiday! 

First up, all the companions! You'll find the Butterfly Bat has returned to the wild this year, along with the new Skeletal Python and Fools Lantern. Meanwhile, all three of these, plus the Ghost Bear, Blackened Wild Dog, Ghostly Lynx, Cross Fox, Ghost Otter, and the secretive Hallowed Panda are available in Catura's Shop! What's also available today? Why, Pumpkin Tinguo and the Skull Face Marking are back in the shops for one day only - hit up Catura or the Chrysos shop! EDIT: And for one day only (the code worked, yay!) you can use pumpkin and aflame as colors in Mark of Lar! EDITED EDIT: With Skull going MIA in the MoL, a request thread has been set up HERE so you can get a chance at the ultimate spooky goodness. Remember to visit all the trick or treat threads before the night is up! Also remember that it's the last day of Solum's Festival - so get those team donations in! Halloween is Coming

A fitful wind blows through the trees, bringing with it the faint laughter of the young and young at heart. As Solum’s month draws to a close, your staff have decided to bring some of Aether’s shenanigans a little early. For this week, some of us will be hosting “Trick or Treat” threads. For those of you unfamiliar with forum based ToT/Light On, Lights Off events, here’s a quick run down. The thread title will have the host’s status. Lights ON, means they are there, ready to treat, or trick. Lights OFF means they are away, or not participating at the moment. RP is optional! You can simply post a request, but if you’re in the mood, feel free to post an RP style response/request. Be sure to read the thread’s rules! Depending on which horse is currently active, you might be more likely to be tricked than treated! But don’t worry, we won’t cause any lasting harm. We promise. The Year of Solum Returns

Imber now retires to spend some time reflecting on the current events, allowing Solum to take his turn in the spotlight. Solum is searching for further aid in Vesanus renovations. Equines of Ortus, Vesanus needs you! Surely you can spare a few items to help an island in need. Players will be split into three teams, Honestas, Spero, and Formido. When you visit the donation station, Solum will ask you for a random item from your horse’s inventory. If you have none of these items, you may choose to request a different item instead. Welcome Parani!

As I'm sure we've all noticed, Astutia has taken her leave from the island which has left a void to be filled. It is uncertain when she'll return or in what capacity but for now, we bring you a new master crafter who may prove to be even more useful. --- When the fires came the drafts had fled. Families that had flourished for countless generations were forced to flee their only home or watch their own legacies crumble with it. Some stayed. They huddled together and close their eyes and died with their island. They were mourned by those who left, by those who felt honor bound to ensure the Natales way of life continued. Once such horse in particular, Parani, a descendent of the first horse Solum had ever come to with a strange and different way of life, knew that she had no choice. She had to leave and save their history. Vesanus had to live on in all of them. She remembered the stories when she was a tiny foal, the whispers of her father and grandmother that told of a mammoth stallion who stepped from a tree to tell Eru of a better life. It was forbidden to speak of it to anyone that was not blood. Eru had promised Solum to keep their meeting between them and so she did as well. It was important to her as maintaining Vesanus’ memory. Despite this knowledge, she hadn't expected she’d ever be lucky enough herself to gaze upon the famed God of the Earth until she stood in the dark of night beneath the cover of Formido as a dark shadow crept from the bark. It was appropriate that they'd meet there as their world was drowning in fear. Solum asked only one thing of her. Use her knowledge of the old ways, of their life on Vesanus to help these horses, to let them learn the things that might help them best if everything were turned to ash. And so that's exactly what she set out to do. ---

Meet Parani Parani is our newest site NPC who will be available to craft items for a cacao fee. This fee is calculated based on the service you'd like as well as the rarity of the items or difficulty of the recipe. This means that there are various things Parani can do for you for the right price. - You can enter up to 3 ingredients (but at least 1!) and discuss them with Parani. She will tell you how many recipes they are currently being used in. Cost is 200 base cacao + the rarity modifier for the item. - You can enter 3 ingredients and she will tell you if those items complete a recipe. Checking the recipe does not consume items! Checking a recipe costs 500 base cacao + the difficulty modifier for that recipe. - You can ask Parani to craft an item for you. Like Astutia, Parani can take your items and craft them for you to create items. For now she can make any recipe in game but rumor has it that Parani has skills far surpassing any on the island. Keep your eyes on her this month. She might surprise you! Cost for crafting a recipe is 200 base cacao + the difficulty modifier for that recipe. - And finally, Parani can provide you little hints about what a recipe contains. Choosing a recipe, you can receive 1 ingredient from a recipe at random. Each USER can receive 1 hint per recipe for a fee of 5000 base cacao + the difficulty modifier of that recipe. These hints are stored and logged and can be accessed from the log on her page. You'll also notice another log that's shown up. Every successful recipe you create with Parani will be logged for future reference making it easier than ever to come back to them down the road. There are a couple more things that will be coming to Parani in the next few days. She will eventually be able to craft multiple recipes at a time and she will be able to craft directly from your log without you needing to input items. We wanted to get her out into the world so you guys could use her skills to help with the team competition going on right now. Just know that those other two things will be coming soon. Hopefully you guys find Parani to be quite useful! We've been so excited and inspired about how well everyone has been doing in this month's event. Your excitement has made us more excited! So we can finally announce the prizes that you're all working hard to compete for. These are the three set in stone but we've been chatting a good deal about additional things we'll offer for a variety of other achievements! Participants: All participants will receive a copy of their team companion. Spero's companion for this event is the California Condor. Formido is represented by the Pangolin. And Honestas will receive the Kakapo. These three things have something important in common which is why they're being featured during this event. All of these animals are currently endangered and it only makes sense that Solum would like to help them out as well! The Winning Team: A special God item based on Parani that will be exclusive to this event. The Top Donors: The top donors from each team will receive our Gift Basket containing 1 Character Slot, 1 Stallion Slot, 1 Tier Five Custom and a special item never before released with the highest + to AP that's been offered. A few quick notes!

Hey all! Just a few short notes for you as the weekend fast approaches and the Solum competition is already quite hot! - If you weren't around before teams were generated for the monthly event, head over to your home page and smash that Join A Team button to get assigned to a team in need! - Acai Berries can now be found in Obruo! Wonder what they're for... - As many of you noticed, another bundle of recipes has been added to the game! The official crafting sheet now lists these too. As before, we promise that we won't reveal the ingredients for these recipes unless they are posted in the crafting guide in the forums - we know how ultra competitive you all are right now, and your secrets should stay safe for now! - If you've crafted some of these recipes, you might have also noticed that they don't say what they do in their item description. This is intentional, because right now, they don't do anything if used. They will have a use in the near future, however! So craft away, hoard them, or give them to Solum's massive pile of goodies. More recipes will likely appear over the coming weeks so don't be shocked if you suddenly see something new. - Speaking of, has anyone seen Astutia? That plucky pony seems to have just plumb wandered off. . .

  Introducing the Outsiders: Meet the Solum Team Companions

The Solum team companions are ready to make their debut! These three companions - Pangolin, Kakapo, and California Condor - are the prize for each team for participating in this month's little competition. They are also the first of a new companion type: Outsiders. Outsiders are representatives of real world endangered animals, which we want to bring awareness to - as well as letting our equine friends have some truly rare and magnificent creatures to help save them, just as Solum and other Indomita Gods seek to save the horses of Paradisus. There will be special ways of obtaining Outsiders that will be revealed in the future as we add more. For now, let's get to meet our first three! The Pangolin is here to represent Team Formido for its courage and bravery in the face of fear. There are eight species around the world, and they are highly trafficked for their scales. These little guys are insect-eaters, and have a unique defense of rolling up into a ball so sturdy even a lion can't break in! With a sweet little cheeky face, and a down-to-earth style, how could this bird lie? This is a nocturnal, flightless parrot native to New Zealand - and there are less than 150 birds alive in the world. You might think the pretty pink blooms of Spero and a less 'attractive' face like the condor's don't go together, but the California Condor's increasing population after conservation efforts are an incredible symbol of hope. Having gone from a tiny population of just 23 birds to now a population of over 400, the California Condor is a bird whose story should not be forgotten.
