#Yamazaki Mizunara 18 from 2017 quickly went onto become a collectors dream. The whisky itself is also right up there. Aged exclusively in #Mizunara cask the nosing gifts delicate balance of toffee incense and cinnamon. On the palate there is intense burnt sugar sweetness which dies down quickly with incense coming to the fore. Late palate there are dried fruity sweetness clashing with peppery spice. #earthday2020 and the #yamazakimizunara is a great example of what #motherearthlove can do to whisky. The #Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2017, was aged for 18 years exclusively in #Mizunarawood. For this whisky, #suntory fourth Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo, tasted a few hundred Mizunara whiskies and made selections of varying ages, starting from 18 years old. A very small portion exceed even 50 years of maturation. The bottle label on it is 100% handcrafted mulberry Echizen paper produced via a slow process of drying on wood boards (a traditional Japanese method). The wooden box that encloses the bottle is made of cask material used in the aging of #Suntorywhisky.
