He's 6'4 and has an entire arc with a little twink in Y5 where he takes him under his wing and calls him Baba-chan and nurses him back to health and frets over him because the cold might be bad for his recovery and when the twink betrays him he's like "that's okay i forgive you". So maybe he also commits terrible violence but he's soft when he can be!! Okay!!!!!!
[🚨RGG 5 FINAL BOSS SPOILERS IN IMAGE🚨] not to be like that but we need more new writers at rgg or AT LEAST our guys to take some writing courses please…
after the intensity of kiryu’s response to the news that majima was (supposedly) killed and the lengths he went to to find who’s responsible and do god knows what to them and all that– it’s fucking wild that there was no kazumaji reunion at ALL at the end of y5 like are you kidding me. all of that rage and grief? and their relationship is brushed off like it doesn’t even exist more or less?? cruel cruel cruel
Despite being the straight man in almost every interaction, I’m pretty sure Saejima is the funniest RGG protag.
In my first and only op as a legendary hitman, I successfully gunned down 18 men on my own. It’s not my fault they didn’t actually die. I have been in jail for 25 years for a crime I didn’t know I didn’t commit. People I protect/trust repeatedly end up being far more successful hitmen than me. I record memories by rapidly carving them into wood statues. My tutorial in 5 takes place on the astral plane. I need to help this old man kill an abnormally large bear. I’m a major reason why Majima is Like That.
So I think it's funny about how gaiden and 5 have similar final bosses in their setup
Someone who starts off as an early game miniboss, then an ally, then a surprise last minute final boss reveal hoping to gain control of the games major Yakuza clan
But how much better shishido is then aizawa, it feels like shishido is working based off of his beliefs and earned being the final boss, whereas aizawa was working based off of nepotism yet was speaking against daigo for the same thing
It feels like rgg studios felt the flaws with aizawa and went "yeah, we like this but we fumbled, let's make it better" and then did
reading about Yakuza 5's plot before so much as even touching a Yakuza game: "Oh, an assassination attempt at an idol concert. Sure, that's pretty wild, I guess."
playing Yakuza 5 in the midst of a completionist haze, watching said assassination attempt at an idol concert right the fuck now:
remembering Yakuza 5's plot years after playing it: "Oh, right, the assassination attempt at an idol concert. What the fuck?"
I just cannot get over Daigo’s explanation for why he beat the shit out of a bunch of kids from another high school and got thrown in juvie. It’s so fucking funny, cuz he’s just like, “oh no, it totally wasn’t because I was struggling with the idea that my childhood hero murdered my father and I totally didn’t have severe anger issues that sent me into a tailspin, no, no, no I did that because it was EVERYONE’S DREAM for our baseball team to win that game so I put a bunch of kids in the hospital and went to jail for it because you’re my friend, Shinada, and I wanted yours and everyone’s DREAMS to come true.” And Shinada’s like, “wait, weren’t you that weird smart kid that didn’t have any friends? What was your name again? Are you in my yearbook????”
one of my favorite things about Yakuza 5 (remaster specifically) is that there are just a lot of invisible people you can bump into. they're physical objects only when you bump into them but once their animation of being bumped into stops, they disappear. I think they still move around while invisible but I'm not exactly sure why this even happens in the first place. it's really funny though.
(spoilers for playable characters in Yakuza 5, if you view that as a spoiler)
