Having a little freak out hearing Becky say that she hasn't been NXT women's champion... Yet.
I've said for years that the massive chip on Becky's shoulder stems back from her never winning that belt and thus never being a grand slam champion. The one thing her fellow Horsewomen have done that's always eluded her.
And, you know, not gonna lie, having modern NXT Charlynch fantasies...

Was AJ Lee the figment of some Manga-geek’s adolescent imagination? She was an avid video gamer, regularly thumbing through comic books and wearing the scuffs on her Chuck Taylors with pride. But don’t be fooled. This unpredictable young woman was not as innocent as she looked. Although she stood a petite 5-foot-2, AJ was a fierce competitor with an energetic, high-flying style that posed a threat to any Diva. This bold New Jersey native first introduced herself to the WWE Universe on the third season of WWE NXT. She finished in third place but won many WWE fans with her lucha-inspired moveset and indomitable fighting spirit. A year after debuting on SmackDown in May 2011, AJ was pivotal in the 18-second outcome of the World Heavyweight Championship Match at WrestleMania XXVIII with a kiss to her beau, Daniel Bryan. The couple’s subsequent breakup sent AJ into an emotional tailspin, and she went on to become romantically entangled with WWE’s top Superstars, including CM Punk, Kane and even John Cena. Following a brief and controversial stint as Raw’s General Manager — a tenure marred by controversy due to her increasingly erratic behavior — AJ found herself in the arms of the brash Dolph Ziggler. Coincidentally enough, it was in the femme fatale’s home state that The Showoff cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Alberto Del Rio to become the World Heavyweight Champion just one night after WrestleMania 29. It wasn’t long before AJ claimed a championship of her own. After winning a No. 1 Contender’s Divas Battle Royal on Raw, AJ defeated former friend Kaitlyn to ensnare the Divas Title and would go on to hold that prize for a record-shattering 295 days until she was unseated by NXT Women’s Champion Paige the day after WrestleMania 30. It would be her first of three Divas Championships. Even though it was impossible to predict what AJ would do next, one thing remained a constant: She always kept us guessing.

CM Punk - I generally dislike him as a person and most of what he's done since returning to wrestling, but he's unquestionably an important and influential figure in the business (for better and worse) and he was a big talent. The question is if he's somehow never received the credit or money he deserves. I think, at this point, he's gotten too much.
I know a lot of older male fans who missed CM Punk's original WWE run because they were watching other companies or weren't watching wrestling at all until AEW. Younger fans won't know this but "indie smarks" didn't like CM Punk. They saw him as inferior to a lot of indie guys who weren't big stars yet: Bryan, Steen/Owens, Generizo/Zayn, Omega, Devitt/Balor, AJ Styles. A huge list of guys who became stars filling in for Punk. So you can credit Punk for their success.
I was a big Punk fan. I was in the cult. I defended him and bought his side of stories over the decade of failures. But I checked out when he went to AEW. From the jump, I thought his shtick of helping the underdogs beat WWE was insincere. The politics he used to stay on top there made him the biggest hypocrite ever and destroyed the appeal he had in WWE. I'm not even talking about the 2 fights, which I think he deserves most of the responsibility for. But his unprofessionalism and Diva behavior in the Jon Moxley angle was just pathetic.
So now that he's in WWE again, WWE fans act like he's still the messiah of wrestling - even tho he's injured and in backstage drama again. One thing will never change about Phil Brooks: he's a natural heel. Since The Rock returned, I think its obvious that WWE doesn't need Punk. The only role he could've played well was Seth's role as Cody's backup. Punk has history with Rock and they're both on similar levels of health and athleticism. Both guys are talkers more than performers now. But Punk is missing the best angle that could've reintroduced him as a big star.
My prediction is Punk won't implode or do anything too stupid again, just because I don't think anyone is foolish enough to give Punk the diva treatment again. He abuses it every time. I think he will probably join HBK or take over for him as NXT's boss. He will stay in WWE's camp but won't ever have any real creative sway. The most positive effect Punk can make has already happened: he pushed HHH to prepare taking over WWE creative. And I think HHH is rewarding him for that alone. Punk will become HHH's "douchebag lackey Yes man"and thats really where he belongs.

Who I believe could be The Devil, ranked in order of possibility
Tumblr media
Well folks. We have another masked man angle in wrestling again. The Devil mask MJF used during his All Out return is being used again, but this time the suspense is lasting longer that one night. Jay White and The Acclaimed have been the targets, although it all seems to tie back to MJF, with Jay being attacked the night he challenged MJF and The Acclaimed a week after teaming with MJF.
Now I love a good masked mystery man angle, so I've been reading a lot of different predictions for who this could be. Now, in my opinion, I think this could be one of 8 different options. So here I am, ranking those in order of possibility (in my opinion) with 1 being the most possible, and 8 being the least.
Let's do it.
8. CM Punk
I had to bring it up. I really don't think he's coming back, but I had to bring it up. There's a reason this is at 8.
With that said, there is a little bit of evidence towards this theory. MJF used the devil mask to win the Casino Ladder Match, and then unmasked to challenge Punk. Punk has a connection to the mask in a way, and definitely has a connection to MJF. There were also a few lines on last week's Dynamite that could be interpreted as being Punk references.
One of the main things I'm also considering here is if it makes kayfabe sense for whoever The Devil is to need to mask their identity. Punk, considering he was fired, would need to conceal his identity in kayfabe.
Now, again, I really don't think it's him. He was fired with cause, and there's an insider report that it is not him. However, considering that Punk himself has been teasing it on his socials and the whole "the greatest trick the devil ever played..." thing, I had to include him, if only to be thorough.
7. Roderick Strong
It makes sense, at a surface level. Roddy hates MJF and blames him for taking Adam away from him and Adam's injury. Jay was credited for Adam's concussion on All Access, so if The Devil is trying to go after those who hurt Adam (or who they perceived to have hurt Adam), Jay makes sense. The Acclaimed also make sense, as he's attacking those close to MJF, or he might even think MJF is replacing Adam with The Acclaimed.
The major hole in this theory from a kayfabe standpoint is that I don't think Roddy would want, or need, to hide behind a mask. From a non-kayfabe standpoint I don't think it's him because it would be a letdown of a reveal, but I digress. Honestly, with Roddy's current character, he'd likely take pride in the attacks. It's not like he's been fired, or suspended, or is turning. He's an active member of the roster who is a heel. The only reason I can think of is that he's not showing his face because then it's obvious the "neck injury" isn't real, but he shows that everytime he's in the ring.
That all being said, I do think he's one of the henchmen. He's just not The Devil.
6. Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali, or any of the recently released WWE wrestlers
This is another theory I've seen a bit. As far as I can tell, it's mostly built around predictions that they'll sign with AEW and that maybe it could be as The Devil. My mask credential fits for this on account of them being unable to appear until the beginning of December due to non-compete (which isn't the case for Ali, actually- I believe it was reported he had a 30 day non-compete since he was part of the NXT roster at the time of his release).
I feel like there's a small possibility one of them could be The Devil, just because it would be a shock to see them when they unmask, but it lacks motivation. Why would they debut by attacking Jay and The Acclaimed? To get the attention of the Champion? That might work, but out of all the options, they have the least motivation at the moment.
5. Jack Perry
Look, we haven't heard anything about his status since the suspension, and Full Gear is in LA...
It makes sense that he'd have to be masked, too, since he's still suspended. He has to orchestrate the attacks with his face hidden so he isn't recognized amid the suspension.
The only other "evidence" I have for this theory is the fact that The Acclaimed attack had a glass spot, and Jack was doing a glass spot that kind of became infamous the last time we saw him.
Again, another possibility to consider, but I do think it's unlikely it's him.
4. MJF
To be absolutely fair, we've never seen The Devil and MJF in the same room. Sure, MJF was in the ring when a video played on the tron, but maybe it was prerecorded? Maybe he was sick of being a good guy and went back to his heel roots, but he couldn't give himself away by doing it without a mask. He attacked Jay because he challenged him for the title, and he attacked The Acclaimed for thinking they could be friends.
This one would take a lot of explaining, but I do think it's possible that the Champion has snapped and gotten sick of the good guy act.
3. Kyle O'Reilly
Essentially the same reasoning for why Roddy could be The Devil, except he's hiding behind a mask for a bigger return reveal.
2. Adam Cole
I'm not ranking Adam number one for one simple reason...he's not gonna be healed for a while. Like we're talking Spring 2024 at the earliest. I don't think they can extend the reveal much past Worlds End, and definitely not until Adam can wrestle again.
Again, same reasoning as Roddy and Kyle, except it's him trying to get revenge for what was done to him rather than his friends trying to get it on his behalf.
This would need some serious backtracking, though. For The Devil to be Adam and to be there during the attacks, walking and standing fine, the injury would need to be explained as a work in kayfabe, despite it being real outside of it. And, again, Adam won't be able to wrestle for months and months.
I do think that whoever The Devil is, their motivations revolve around Adam. I just don't know if it's actually Adam.
1. Britt Baker
There's rumors that it's not her, but whatever, I still think she's the most logical choice. She attacked Jay as revenge for what he did to Adam, attacked The Acclaimed to show MJF what they can do and also, maybe, because she believes MJF was replacing Adam.
She's behind a mask because she wants everybody to think it's a man, and have them all point fingers at one another in the men's division, while nobody even considers it could be a woman.
And, no offense, but Britt hasn't been doing much lately. Something like this gives her a story again.
You could also go a few different ways with this when Adam can come back, about whether he agrees with what she did/is doing or if he's against it. There's some mystery in there that could be interesting to explore.
So there's my list. Have I thought about this way too much? Probably. But it's alright. This was fun. And when The Devil is revealed, we'll see if I'm even close to being right with any of these predictions.

I've struggled with what to say about the death of Windham Rotunda. I was certainly never a fan--looking back at my posts about him on this blog, I've been harshly critical of the creative decisions that defined his career. But I could never deny that he overcame that, simply by enchanting legions of people to believe in him. Fans wanted him to succeed so badly that they convinced themselves that every setback was part of some secret master plan baked into his gimmick. It's to his credit as a performer that he elicited such profound reaction. In a sense that's what pro wrestling is all about.
It's remarkable that Bray Wyatt could even exist when and where he did, let alone become one of the most beloved wrestlers of the 21st century. In the 2010s WWE was hyperfixated on a very particular mold of what a rising star should look like, act like, and talk like. When NXT started, it was to find the next Randy Orton, not the next Bugsy McGraw. The Husky Harris gimmick was clearly meant to pigeonhole Windham in the sort of role Otis plays today. It's a bit of a miracle that the Wyatt Family concept was even authorized, and predictable when WWE cut it off at the knees multiple times. I didn't expect Bray to recover; instead he came back with the Fiend and got hotter than ever, in spite of all the missteps along the way. When they unceremoniously released him in 2021, I never imagined he'd be brought back a year later. Once he was back, though, it wasn't surprising at all that he was even more popular than before.
Bray's career always seemed to revolve around his future potential; if a storyline didn't land right, the emphasis was on how it was setting up something better down the line. So perhaps that makes it more tragic that we'll never know what might have been. Thirty-six years old is too young for anyone to die. But beyond that, I keep thinking about how much would have been unrealized if we'd lost Terry Funk in 1980, or Sting in 1995, or AJ Styles in 2011. We can't know what Bray might have accomplished over the next 10-20 years, and whether it would have overshadowed everything he'd already achieved. But there's no doubt he would have been capable of doing that, and that a huge fanbase would have followed him to the ends of the earth to witness it.

Royal Rumble 2023 Predictions
Asterisk: I don’t really watch the shows anymore, really only the clips on Youtube and some of the premium live events. But I really enjoy the Rumble event, so here’s my best predictions to what’s going to happen.
Bianca Belair [C] vs. Alexa Bliss - Predicted Winner: Bianca Belair WWE has a problem with too many unbeatable champions right now. Bianca is absolutely retaining until Wrestlemania, and probably even longer. Also, I don’t really get or like the Uncle Howdy stuff, and I have criticism of the recent creative direction where everybody seems to be going back to the gimmick where they were most over.
Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight - Predicted Winner: LA Knight For years, I have not been a big fan of Bray Wyatt’s “say something spooky and cryptic for four weeks and then lose the feud” booking. I also don’t even really get why Brey is the face in this feud. I think, based on all this Uncle Howdy nonsense, he should win this match, but I also can’t get over the idea that he always loses.
Roman Reigns [C] vs. Kevin Owens - Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns The Bloodline was getting stale for me, but I really like the recent change of starting to turn Sami and Jey face while leaving the others as heels. They’re obviously going to get involved in this match, because they always interfere in Roman’s matches. Roman will retain both titles until Wrestlemania, and possibly even retaining one of them afterwards.
Women’s Royal Rumble - Top 3 picks: Liv Morgan, Asuka, Ronda Rousey If Charlotte hadn’t won the title, I think she would have been the clear favorite to win. I don’t think there are a lot of viable winners, and this match clearly doesn’t have the heat that Roman brings to the men’s match. I don’t think Rhea wins this year, because she can easily make her own way to Bianca. Becky is also a possible winner, but she needs to face someone different than the current champions. The winner will likely challenge Charlotte I think. Other predictions that I’d like to see - Wendy Choo cameo from NXT, Aliyah return from injury, Mandy Rose return
Men’s Royal Rumble - Top 3 picks: Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Austin Theory I think there’s more to explain in who I didn’t pick. I don’t think Sami Zayn is going to win. This version of him is just not a main event player across from Roman. I also don’t think Cody Rhodes will win after having wrestled only a couple matches in WWE and having been injured for so long. However, if Seth wins, I think they might do a “multiple winners” controversy so that he and Cody both win and can challenge for one title each (Cody for the historical legacy of the WWE title, Seth for the more prestigious Universal title). Kevin was my pick before he got the championship match, and I think he’s still likely to win from entry #30 depending on just how many Bloodline shenanigans occur earlier in the night. And I just like Austin Theory, if he doesn’t win the Rumble, give him a match against John Cena. Other predictions that I’d like to see - Kofi doesn’t do any nonsense spots, Tyler Breeze return, Enzo Amore return
