Day Shift was an insanely action packed movie! It was as if someone took the script of a potential B-Rated movie, gave it a Hollywood budget, threw in some explosions, had a lot of martial art scenes and said that the movie should be filmed in Los Angeles. I will admit that the ending was a bit lack luster but easily overlooked. This Count Dracula knows that if he fails to drink a required amount of pure virgin's (pronounced "wirgin's") blood, it's time to pack it into a permanent coffin. His assistant, Renfield, suggests that the Count take a road trip to Italy, where families are known to be particularly religious, and therefore an excellent place to search for a virgin bride. There they encounter a family with not one, but four virgins, ready for marriage. The Count discovers one-by-one that the girls are not as pure as they claim. Meanwhile, a handsome House servant/Communist begins to observe strange behavior from the Count. It's a race for Dracula to discover who the real virgin is before he either dies from malnourishment or from the wooden stake of a Communist! Morrissey once again teams the legendary Udo Kier ('The Story Of O', 'Suspiria') with Warhol superstar Joe Dallesandro, and adds to the strong supporting cast Italian director Vittorio De Sica (The Bicycle Thief), and a cameo from director Roman Polanski. Dracula features a titillating mixture of horror and camp with the emphasis on sex and decadence more than gore.
