Tips for Styling Summer Outfits

There are plenty of ways to get your entire wardrobe ready for warm weather. The mornings are brighter and the days are longer, you might feel as though you have a little more pep in your step.

1. wear light - Colored Clothing : Choose white color and white dresses and button down shirts, which reflect, rather than observe, the sun's rays. The softness of pastels will keep you light and in trend. Pastels are go-to shades this summer, opposite for light nude shades of pink and brown.

2. opposite for sleeves or loose sleeves: When it comes to summer clothes, the goal is to have as much airflow as possible. You don't have to go fully strapless, but consider sleeveless camis and off-shoulder or puff sleeve blouses. Short sleeve button-ups are another good option.

3.Stay away from tight clothing: Loose-fitting clothing is your best bet for staying cool in the summer. Go for cropped, wide leg-pants, loose shirts, oversized blouses, dresses and skirts with room to breath.

4.Rely on dresses: Dresses aren't not for special occasion. A simple no- brainer trend that needs to stay forever for our comfort. A comfy summer dress is an easy option for days when you don't know what you wear. Summer is the perfect time to bring out your mind with dresses, rompers, and miniskirts, but it's okay to go longer, too.

5.Choose breathable fabrics: It may not matter during the rest of the year, but you will definitely notice the difference between breathable fabrics and fabric that trap moisture during the summer.

6.Stick to light colors: Work wear typically comes in dark colors like black and navy. For summers, try light colors instead: a white linen blazer, seersucker suits or light blue button-up shirt.

7.Try a one piece garment: Separates can get very warm in the summer. instead try a work appropriate one piece, like a jumpsuit or wrap dress.

8.Upgrade your athleisure: Technical fabrics are typically moisture - wicking, but they are also tight. Which is not great for summer. If you are a fan of athleisure, swap your usual black leggings and sweatshirts for colorful bike shorts and tank tops or short sleeve crop tops.

9.Ditch jeans:Denim is one of the heaviest fabrics. If you wear stretch jeans or skinny jeans, you may find them too warm for your summer style. Look for lightweight cotton or linen pants instead. If you must wear denim, option for wide leg jeans, which still allow for some air circulation.

Lane Bryant was founded in New York in 1904 as a shop for standard-sized women. When a pregnant customer asked the proprietor, Lena Bryant (the bank officer who opened her account had misspelled her name), to make a "presentable but comfortable" dress for her, it was the first commercially available maternity dress.

When measuring her customers, Bryant realized the need for clothing for those who needed larger sizes than those usually available. So she began to stock them, and the first "plus size" clothing was available. Business boomed. It became a chain, which now has 448 stores in 46 states.

The ad on the left appeared in the NY Times in 1923 and the one on the right in 1925. I like the line, "If you are not slender." Better than "stout" or "plus sized."

OH I FORGOT TO MENTION I GOT A BINDER AT TARGET⁉️ so cool. it's part of the pride collection so idk if they're keep selling them after june LMAOOOOOO but to anyone who can't buy binders online I would recommend checking it out :) the kind I got lightly binds so its really comfortable and not super constricting and if you're not out to your family it can pass as just a sports bra ^__^ ALSO THEY HAD COOL UNDERWEAR FOR TUCKING TOO MADE OF THE SAME FABRIC IVE NEVER SEEN THAT!!!!!!!!

i’ve been avoiding buying clothes for a long time bc Ugh but i’m doing it today bc i need some new basic things before going on this fancy cruise with my parents. dropped $300 in the first store. why is everything in the world so expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#telling myself this is fine bc i haven’t bought myself new shit in years #and none of my jeans fit right anymore #so those are necessities #i still need to go to the shoe store bc my sketchers are like ten years old #and i got them at bealls #so i need nice clean sneakers and maybe some nice flats #idk how my parents will feel about me wearing my docs on the cruise even though i think they’re nice #fuck it! it’ll be cold so boots are normal and acceptable right #this suuuuuuuucks this suucks so bad #also i don’t consider myself to be that fat #like i definitely am a little bit but im really not that big i think im kind of average maybe a little above #but im consistently the largest size at these stores #how does anyone bigger than me buy clothes #like this is so ridiculous #im a 16/18/XL in women’s an L/XL in men’s #like this is a normal average size to be; and yet they only stock up to a 16 usually. i found one pair of pants in a 20 #unbelievable shit happening at the gap
