A short little ficlet for day 1 of Women of Pandora Week, on trauma.
I had a crazy week, but really wanted to get something out, and I hope it's a worthwhile read. So excited to see what folks come up with!

Heartache - Women of Pandora Week: Day 4
This was written for the prompts Motherhood and Grief.
Summary:
Somewhere else, where sky people are mere stories and war an old fable, a mother wakes with each of her children beside her. In minutes, she will see them off for the day without worry. Her home is safe and kind, and her family is whole.
That mother will celebrate and mourn the aging of her children. She fights back tears when she gives away a bassinet or adjusts the band of her youngest’s loincloth; the loss of time is the only kind she knows.
But not here. Not where Neytiri goes, and not where war follows.
OR
Neytiri struggles through the days following Neteyam’s death.

Welcome to Women of Pandora Week!
Inspired by @recom-week, this event was created to celebrate the wonderful and interesting women (and girls!) of the Avatar films. I adore these women and, quite honestly, am starting this event just so I can see more content featuring them.
With this upcoming event, I would love to open the floor to other Avatar fans to create content where they can explore who a woman in the film series is, their complexities, and fleshing out who they are beyond what we know of them.
What drives characters like Trudy and Ronal? What sort of shenanigans does Tuktirey get to? Who was Neytiri as a child? I would love to see how everyone interprets and can expand on the wonderful women and girls of Avatar!
Here is a form to help set a date for Women of Pandora Week! A form to submit prompts will be posted soon. If you have any questions, feel free to send an ask! Edit: Date submissions are now closed.
The form to submit prompts to is now closed. Vote for prompts here!
