#Bonus - Faculty chapter

And here, as has been requested, we have the ones in charge of the operation. And so I am left pondering that, over the course of this project, I have drawn essentially all of the arc 1 and arc 2 protagonists... with the exception of Glory. That's pretty weird.

Anyway, here goes:

Sunny

Teaches subject(s) - Art, Cultural Exchange

Tsunami

Color - Cobalt blue

Physical characteristics - bent horns; royal wing markings; small burn scar on right side of neck, small cut in wing membrane; large build, long and burly

Clay

Physical characteristics - curly horns; diminished mobility in right hindleg, walks with a limp; very large stature, muscular, heavy, broad

Color - Midnight blue gray

Physical characteristics - severe burn scarring across face, neck, and chest; blind in both eyes; average size and build

Additional responsibilities- Assistant librarian, assistant student counselor, inventory

Color - Dark violet black

Relatives - none on site

Physical characteristics - curved horns; small silver scales near eyes and along body; smallish stature, slim, slightly underweight

Relatives - Sunny (daughter)

Additional notes - Stonemover is neither a member of the Jade Mountain Academy faculty, nor a student, but remains on site as a consultant on various animus-related matters (and also because he is stuck to the floor).

Thinking about the false dragonets rn.

Fatespeaker, told that she and four other dragonets were destined to stop the war. Fatespeaker, wanting so badly for the five of them to be friends, trying desperately to bond with these dragons who want her dead.

Flame, always trying to appear as hot-headed as possible around everyone, just as a SkyWing should be. Flame, sobbing into his mother's shoulder after what he went through, not caring about how he looks in front of these dragons he hates.

Squid, having dreams of grandeur, wanting treasure and fame once he is told about his "destiny". Squid, a child, abandoned in enemy territory, wanting nothing more than to go home.

Viper. The most ruthless of the five. The only one to die. In those few seconds after Starflight shoved her off of Fatespeaker, her fate was sealed. An entirely new and horrifying idea of destiny. In those short moments, she was going to die and there wasn't anything anyone could have done about it. And she was going to suffer before she was dead.

All just to sell the illusion of a prophecy that wasn't even real.

Ochre is just kinda there, but my point still stands.

Fatespeaker the Nightwing

I drew the False DoD!

Details under the cut (from left to right.) also minor spoilers for the first arc.

Viper: I really loved drawing her- her colour pallet and expression were so fun to do. I wish we got to see more of her character, I feel like she had some wasted potential. Squid: I LOVE his design. I think it might be my favourite out of the five. I like the jewellery I added to him. He’s canonically obsessed with treasure, so I think Nautilus would eventually just give in and get him some. Also I made his pupils rectangular because I headcanon that MudWings and SeaWings under a lot of stress would have those. Just a nod to how he isn’t as shallow as he seems. Fatespeaker: I made her eyes all white to show that she has ‘foresight’. She doesn’t really. I’ll give you the option to choose whether I put that there for symbolism, or if you think she learned to roll her eyes up in her head to convince people her visions were real. Ochre: I tried to make him look bigger but it just wasn’t happening. In the end his design was pretty bland, just your average MudWing dragonet, if much grumpier. Sorry, guys. Flame: I made him pink, which I think suits him a lot. He was the first one I drew, so I like him a lot. This is before the incident with Viper, so he doesn’t have his telltale scar.

FATESPEAKER

Fatespeaker has black scales and underscales of deep blue and purple. She has several additional silver scales along her body: one on the outside corner of each eye, a band circling one ankle, and a few lone ones sparkling along her tail like starry freckles. She is rather small.

Office Visit

I drew this overhead sketch of an office space and showed it to a few of my friends, and they responded by drawing themselves into the picture as well. Whoops.

I think I like this kind of angle. It makes me sad that there isn't a game that's like The Sims, but focused on dragons. I think that would be really fun.

I might or might not draw more of these pictures some time in the future. They are very cozy.
