Can you believe they showed grief not just through the main story but programed it into the mechanics? Like Dagger's trauma and inability to speak was something you could not ignore as a player and you really got to feel the depth of what she was going through, and so the payoff when her magic returns....!! She's healing! We rejoice with her!!!

O h man. My beloved daughter, Dagger. Sometimes I just think about everything she went through during the game and find it absolutely AMAZING that she just keeps moving forward. She is a victim of genocide who is forced to replace someone's daughter. The only thing that connects her to her people is CUT OFF OF HER. Like. Her summoner's horn was CUT OFF. I cannot get over that??? She was ethnically changed to be someone she was not.

She lives her life without any memories of her childhood and no explanation as to why. She just believes everyone around her and lives her life until her father dies. And then her mother becomes distant and Garnet takes the burden onto HERSELF to go to Lindblum to seek help from Regent Cid. The girl was not a naïve princess. She knew something was up in the castle with Brahne and Kuja. She knew she had to the power to try and stop a war and so she TRAINED. SHE TRAINED. To ESCAPE. And asked a thief she never met to KIDNAP HER. Just so she could protect her mother and her kingdom.

If that's not enough, her mother, the woman who raised her, later imprisons her and then assaults her. Garnet's eidolons are literally RIPPED OUT OF HER. Everything happens so fast but the game makes a point to note that Garnet is physically in a bad way because of this extraction procedure. She only wakes because of Beatrix's healing. Eidolons are linked to the summoner. They're literally a part of Garnet and they were ripped from her. Nearly killing her. AND THEN. Garnet is forced to watch as her own mother uses those eidolons, beings that are connected with her very soul, are used for destruction and death.

Oh but that ain't even IT. Garnet then reaches Madain Sari and is hit in the face that she is not Garnet. She's Sarah. Her mother? Not her biological mother. Her true mother? Dead. Her true father? Dead. Her people and homeland? Gone, destroyed. And she only remembers them because of a traumatic flashback she experienced as a child when Madain Sari was destroyed. All she has is Eiko, her Eidolons, and the woman who adopted her and raised her as her own - Queen Brahne. I have such a new appreciation for the scene where Garnet desperately tries to save Brahne because really that's all she has left. It doesn't matter that Brahne started a war or stole Garnet's Eidolons like Zidane says (LITERALLY ASSULATING HER), Brahne, at that moment in Garnet's life, is all she has left. When Brahne dies, Garnet is at her limit. Now she's truly alone. And the fact that an Eidolon was used to kill Brahne is just icing on the cake.

You can feel the grief permeating off of Garnet in every scene at the end of Disc 2 and the start of Disc 3. She keeps bringing up that she is not the true Princess Garnet and she is desperate to see Zidane. She needs comfort and she needs someone to take the burden of an entire kingdom off her shoulders. Only Zidane has seen her as she truly is: Dagger. And so it makes so much sense that she's desperate to see and speak with him. She has just buried her second mother and is now set to become Queen. She needs someone to help her through this. All of this weighs on her and then...

Bahamut attacks.

And just wow.

The horror that Garnet must experience watching her kingdom be destroyed? No words. The cutscenes that show her expressions say all that needs to be said on how she feels. This attack is all on HER shoulders because SHE's the leader now. She does everything she can to stop Kuja. She summons freaking Alexander and still, can't stop the horrific destruction. It's beyond traumatic.

Garnet doesn't lose her voice in Lindblum. That's just when everyone finds out. She loses her voice as Alexander is destroyed and she's falling with the crumbled remains of her castle.

That cutscene, right before Zidane saves her, you can see all hope leave her face. When Zidane speaks to her after that scene Garnet never responds. She only shakes her head. It's at that point that she's gone mute.

AND U G H. She just KEEPS going. This girl keeps freaking GOING. She completely and utterly blames herself but she follows Zidane and the others to go after Kuja because what else is she supposed to do? Stay in Lindblum? Grieve? She absolute has the right to, but no. She keeps going.

People who get annoyed at Garnet's concentration wavering? PERISH. You are forced to experience one SINGLE fraction of Garnet's frustration, self-hatred, and grief. YOU CAN STILL PLAY AS HER. After everything she's been through she can STILL summon AND heal. There's simply moments where she's overwhelmed. Where she cannot fight because everything that's been weighing on her since her flashback at the beginning of the game brings her down so that for one single turn she can't attack. And you as the player are forced to feel that. It's fucking beautiful.

When Garnet's voice returns, it's not because she's fully healed or because she's gotten "over" her trauma. It's because she finally has the words to describe how she's been feeling. She feels like a fake. Through the whole game she's felt like she's been ten steps behind everyone. That she's been a fake princess. That she's not truly or ever been Princess Garnet. And if that's the truth then how can she ever be Alexandria's Queen. But I think after Zidane speaks with her about the journey of self-growth it hits her that she can take her time to become who she truly is and so she runs off with Zidane's dagger in hand and cuts her hair...

to become herself. So she can one day be Alexandria's Queen.

"Someday I will be queen, but I will always be myself."

She becomes Dagger. She owns her trauma and her past and her insecurities and decides to admit that she's not ready yet. But one day, she will be.

At the end of Disc 2, Garnet stood before the shinning, perfect, foreboding sword of Alexandria. Now, on Disc 3, Dagger stands anew, before a broken, damaged, rebuilding Alexandria.

If that doesn't hit... I don't know what else can.

For 2000, this game was something special. And when I played it for the first time only a few years ago it still was.

Garnet/Dagger/Sarah. She's going to stick with me as one of my favorite female characters for years to come. What a masterpiece.

Starshine                      Ch. 64    Jimmy Page           Fan Fiction

The next morning there was no reason to wake up early. Jill awoke about 10am and Jim was still out cold. He looked so innocent and peaceful sleeping on his

 side with blankets on up to his neck. Jill just put her arm around him from the back. He grasped her arm in his sleep and pulled it closer around himself. She just kissed the back of his neck and he smiled, as he hummed a tiny bit in his sleep. She was crazy in love with him.

About an hour or two later he got up for a shower and got back into bed with her, facing her this time. His right arm was under her neck and his left hand was caressing her all over her back and hips and waist and breasts and soon they were kissing with passion. And nuzzling and licking and biting sweetly until they ended up fully engaged and intertwined and entangled. Jill was tingling in ecstacy while Jimmy was moving inside her. She could hardly breathe as a result of his lovemaking. He was being squeezed and massaged inside of her, and almost completely undone, falling apart at the moment. His moans and sounds were the sexiest thing on earth to Jill. She so wanted him to be in ultimate bliss, due to her actions. And it was the most stimulating experience Jimmy had felt in months. He was beyond heaven in his head there and soon he couldn’t hold off any longer and just burst inside. Just tingling and exploding in hot sensations, shaking in pleasure in Jill’s hold. The feel of his bliss and his moaning completely pushed her right over the edge and she shouted out in waves of thrill and agony against him. Her walls were contracting rapidly around him and he was struck by more heavy sensations surrounding him.

Once he was relaxed enough to speak, he was now disengaged from her. He said, with a huge breath, “Oh my God. Jill.  You’ve destroyed me. My head is spinning. You did that on purpose, I’m afraid.”  

Jill : well, yeah. That’s what I wanted, for you to feel delirious.

Jim : You succeeded. And there is nothing better in this world than having your gorgeous legs and arms wrapped all around me, inside you and you’re holding me tight inside. It’s unreal. 

And they spent a relaxed morning having a calm breakfast and getting ready for tonight’s performance.

Later that evening before the show, the ladies were in their usual seats, to Jimmy’s left. Clare and Jill had an ongoing observation, for months now. Regarding the fact they could often see the entire outline and volume of Rob’s private parts. All of them. Right through his jeans or other trousers, clear as day. And he never seemed bothered by this, nor inclined to cover up. He seemed perfectly comfortable and natural with this. Some clothes of his were more revealing than others that he owned. Sometimes at the side of the stage, up close and personal, Clare and Jill would observe Rob, then look at each other and blink several times at each other. Expressing silently, that they could not believe their eyes. 

That night at the show, the size and level of clarity of Rob’s (not so) private area, was astounding. Jill mentioned quietly to Clare, “Rob is wearing the HELL out of those pants tonight ! “

Clare found that comment to be hysterical. She absolutely lost it and accidentally spit out her mouthful of coffee onto the stage. Then laughed hysterically. Jill attempted to quiet her, knowing the concert was about to start, but it was useless. Clare acted jokingly like she was angry at Jill for catching her off guard and pushed Jill. As a half joke. Jimmy had no idea regarding the reason for the problem and happened to be watching in their direction, just at that moment. The venue this night had a curtain, and it was still closed then, before song #1. After the push, Jill actually lost her balance and fell right out of her chair. Landed on her backside and looked startled. Jimmy ran right over there and grabbed her two hands. Pulled her right up from the floor. Then, with his arms around her, his guitar in between them, he reached his hands around and began rubbing her rear, asking if she was ok. And asking did she get hurt. Jill said, she hurt her tailbone a bit but thought she’d be fine. Jimmy looked at Clare, concerned with her behavior. 

Jim : Clare ? What’s going on ? Please. Please don’t be so rough with Jill. If she injures that damaged area again, we could have serious problems. Please. And the show’s about to start, can you girls behave ? Please ? Are you older than 12 ?

Bonz could somewhat detect the general issue that the ladies were acting immaturely just before showtime. He felt embarrassed of Clare, since Jill was the one who’d been pushed, and who’d fallen. He blamed Clare in his mind and felt angry. He planned on having a few words with her later on. 

Clare felt utterly mortified, since she knew she’d made a mistake by pushing Jill. And enough embarrassment to make her face terribly red, since she had received reprimand from Jimmy. She was quite humiliated at herself. There was not a word from either of them all the way up to intermission. 

When the break did arrive, Jill went backstage and Jimmy met her there right away. He put his arm around her waist and brought Jill with him to the little dressing room he had there. He badly wanted to see if she was hurt or injured. Clare also was backstage with Bonz, in a back room, and others could hear them arguing back there, loudly. Bonz was angry and was accusing her of acting immaturely and to please have respect for their music and performance. Saying specifically, that if she wanted to remain at stage side, at least keep control of herself. This isn’t third grade. She knew he was right. And felt extremely self conscious now. And she apologized.

Meanwhile, Jimmy was intently rubbing Jill’s hips and tailbone area, praying she was alright. He asked to see her injury site at her left side area, to check for any changes. She didn’t mind showing him, and he looked at it carefully. And said that it looked fine, but to please not scare him like that again. He wasn’t angry, but more concerned for her safety. He sat her up on the counter in there and gently caressed her all over her back and shoulders. And kissed her gently, with such softness, he completely turned her on. She was absorbing all the love he was spreading out onto her and feeling wonderful from all his attention. She just whispered to him how much she adored him and he heard her and smiled his gorgeous smile. He rubbed his lips against the side of her face by her ear. And told her to wait till later, Miss. He had some loving planned for her later. And she felt completely enamored by him. She was craving him like crazy just now.

One of the early important figures in the Soul Calibur series...**In addition to Battle Rehime, he’s in the quest for searching the curse sword lerking around the world, in order to track down it’s wear abouts, he’s however had to deal lot’s of enemies getting in his way, teaming up with Luffy and the StrawHat Pirates, tagging along the likes of Domon Kashu, Zidane and Vaane Fanel. He may will be trained by Master Asia at some point after...

Magneto

To understand Magneto, he has a strong hatred to human kind and is infamous for battling against the X-men on multiple occassions. To stir things up, he’s pretty much an every enemy to those whoever stands in his way, unless they make some certain pledges, just to attain his agenda. This is why he’ll be getting along with the likes of Golbez, Sinestro, Black Adam and anyone against humanity. He’ll likely get along with Haman Karn, Char and the rest of the other villains on certain conditions...**To be expanded soon

**In the Battle Rehime world, he’ll be connected to alot of important figures and also once tutored some of the good guys. With a strong connection to the universe, he’s as just as lethal as Dr.Doom’s agenda, making him sooner one of the strong key figures in an upcoming war against the heroes to meet his own goals.

Also plan on making Richard Riders (A.K.A. Nova), one of his past students replacing the said Hal Jordan to expand something dramatic tensions going on between them..**Hal Jordan is pretty much dead......in this fanfiction story...

Troll Warlord

Here in Battle Rehime, Troll Warlord is on a self-journey to challenge the previous champion of a league tournament held every year all around. While he is known for making ruckus to anyone, much the dismal and pity of others....the heroes just let him be their ally due to important complicated reasons...thanks to Lux, Tidus and Rizzrack for convincing the good guys that he’s really not that of a bad guy...after all, even Bruce Wayne find something useful with this guy...

He, However in this crossover fanfiction verse, had a funny friendly relationship between the good guys for thinking them all as a nuisance (especially Janna, whom he often hates of all the company) and would like to kill em all after the war. but it’ll likely won’t happen especially with sympathetic and open-mind beings around.

She also dates a giant dragon... and she sounds like Hinata from Naruto... she is an actual baby that is months old

Why Lunafreya Can’t Be Fixed (Or... it would be very difficult to actually develop her character properly)

(A/N: Thank you guys so much for liking and reblogging this essay! It took a lot of labor. Please note that I wrote this a couple of weeks ago, before the reveal of the new DLC episodes. Here is a link to a new post that I wrote, where I discuss what I think Episode Luna is going to be about and why this creates new problems in the storytelling sphere. Warning - there be serious retconning ahead!)

Gamers today expect a substantial storytelling experience when playing JRPGs. Aside from immersive world building, a moving soundtrack, and compelling game mechanics, players are expecting a diverse cast and meaningful character development. This is definitely not the case for Final Fantasy XV‘s Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.

Character development assumes that a lead character, supporting character, and at times, even minor characters will undergo a journey of self-discovery of some level, or of some type. This, normally, should especially be true of a major character. In Luna’s case, she is heavily involved in the game’s advertising campaigns, and is assumed to be in a major romantic role with the main character, who undergoes his own extensive character development. She is therefore a major character, who is designed to forcibly tell us that she is important. So, why does she have no substance to her backstory, her character growth, and to her actual relevance in the story? And can she be fixed? This essay is an analysis on character creation from a writer’s perspective, and why she as a whole was not built for the character development that fans are expecting out of her - it is a perspective I feel is lacking in the all of the debates and discussions that are happening about this character. (Warning: spoilers for the Final Fantasy series ahead.) (Also warning: long.)

The essential main theme of character development in Final Fantasy XV is ascension. That is, the characters are growing to be better than they started out with, or are growing up in a physical, emotional, and mental way. For the four main Chocobros, this means growing up to be men, or from childhood/adolescence into adulthood (and for Noctis, becoming King). This is true for three out of the four main characters. The only exception is Gladiolus, who has already achieved manhood at the beginning of the game, and stays the same throughout. However, it can be argued that the Brotherhood anime has introduced some level of character development for him, going from a young teen who at first was displeased with protecting Noctis, into a young man who not only accepts Noctis, but accepts his role as a Crownsguard.

However, the same cannot be said for Luna. In all major aspects of the Final Fantasy XV Universe, Luna has not actually developed, nor was she really fully realized as a human being. What I mean to say is that she is the same in Brotherhood, Kingsglaive, Final Fantasy XV, and Royal Edition. While fans may notice behavioral changes between Luna in the film and in the game (and while many may prefer her in the film), her essential character actually hasn’t changed. Her goals are the same. Her emotions (and subsequent feelings for Noctis) are the same. Her commitment to being formal even in the presence of more intimate interpersonal relationships is the same. Her sense of duty is the same. Her obsession with Noctis is the same. Her lack of personality is arguably the same. The behavioral changes in this sense are mainly surface-level. This kind of personality quagmire is the same despite age differences throughout the timeline, as well. In other words, Luna is the same at 12 years old, and at 24 years old. She still is only interested in discussing her religious indoctrination, her duty, and her need to guide Noctis. This essentially means that there is no actual character development for a character that the game tries so hard to convince you is important. She is already grown up at 12 years old, and there is nothing left for her to personally explore. In other words, ascending to her role as Oracle is not symbolic of any character development, like ascending to be King is for Noctis. In the case where people argue she needs more screen time, YouTuber StoryTime** has explained it best: when you see one scene of Luna, you have seen them all. It is not that she needed more screen time - more screen time would just mean reiterations of old material. Case in point: she was given more time and more lines in Royal Edition, only for it to be the same old thing we have heard from her before (and at the cost of breaking one of their established world building rules). Expanding her emotions on the 1.16 update didn’t do anything different for her. It just beat the dead horse on what we already know: that she loves Noctis. What the problem really is is that she should have been planned out differently from the start.

Essentially, the main argument I am trying to make here is that the writers have effectively trapped themselves when it comes to Luna’s development. Let’s discuss the cuts that have been made from her development, and how she is problematically portrayed. There was a leak from a developer of the game who discussed that her childhood abuse story was cut due to anxiety over public backlash to her character. This backlash was assumed to come from a feminist perspective, being that her character would have endured the abuse for the sake of Noctis. This perspective is legitimate, which is another reason why she is problematic: she can’t be human, and be a full character, because her sole reason is to exist for Noctis. This is not just on an emotional level (where this kind of obsession is honestly incredibly self-sabotaging and unhealthy), but also on a plot development level. She is literally a plot device existing for the sake of Noctis’ development, and because of this her own development doesn’t matter. Her death was also for Noctis’ sake. She did not die out of her own convictions, or because her actions were conflicting with Ardyn’s goals. She died because Ardyn wanted to provoke Noctis. Luna’s death therefore does not hold significance for her development, either. This is largely different from Final Fantasy VII’s Aerith, who was murdered by Sephiroth because she posed a direct threat to his plans. Aerith, by comparison, died because she decided to take the world’s fate, as a normal civilian who wasn’t groomed to carry this burden, taking fate into her own hands, and without any religious brainwashing or indoctrination to tell her that she has to.

We do not know if this leak is true. Let’s assume that it is, especially since this abuse was teased in one of the trailers. Adding her abuse story wouldn’t actually add to her character development in a meaningful way. Why? Because she was already devoted to Noctis and to her duty before the abuse. Enduring the abuse for the sake of Noctis’ safety doesn’t change or enhance this devotion. It wouldn’t really be effective in changing Child Luna into Adult Luna. Also keep in mind that if we are to assume the leaks are true, then her motivation to endure the abuse was also supposed to be completely based on her devotion to Noctis. It was said that it was cut because people were going to argue against the notion of a young girl surviving abuse for the sake of a boy she barely knows, instead of for her own sake, or for the sake of the family she has left, etc. Any development that is meant for her is implied to happen for the purpose of existing for Noctis, just like the rest of her character development.

What this means is that from a writers’ perspective, she was created solely for Noctis’ development. Such characters do exist. They are necessary to develop main characters and to act as catalysts for a more natural plot progression. The problem here is that she is one of these throwaway characters, but fans are expecting more out of her role, or out of her existence - and Square is doing them a huge disfavor by advertising her as more than what she actually is.

All of this is exacerbated by the fact that she doesn’t really behave like a normal human being. If anything, she carries herself like Tolkien’s Galadriel, who is thousands of years old by the time the Lord of the Rings takes place. Her personality quirks are one of the reasons why people would argue against a romantic relationship between her and Noctis, and why she is unrelatable for many. Combining a human-not-human with the lack of character development, and exacerbated with a questionable role in the overall plot development creates a shell or a shadow of a human being that barely exists. I would argue here that if she was removed from the story, it would be incredibly easy to fill her void, being that Noctis can be easily rewritten to go after the Astrals and the Armiger weapons without her assistance. If we were to compare her to Final Fantasy IX’s Garnet, it is different. Removing Garnet would have a tremendous impact on the story, because suddenly there is no logical explanation for Zidane’s presence in Alexandria, and there would be no reason for him to go to Lindblum, and so forth. Removing her would garner serious rewriting of the entire game. Garnet’s contribution to the game is tied to the world building and politics that take center stage of the conflict, even though she is not the main protagonist. The same cannot be said for Luna. Her role as an Oracle is questionable: she is meant to be the voice between the people and the gods. But this is challenged repeatedly in the game. If she is needed to speak to the gods, then why can Noctis understand Leviathan during their battle? Why can Noctis exchange a conversation with Bahamut? If it is to be argued that he is also chosen by the Crystal, then what is the proper argument for Bahamut coming down and speaking directly to the Glaives in Comrades? Furthermore, as stated before, removing her would not constitute a huge rewrite. Since Noctis has shown to have no problem talking to gods, then it wouldn’t be a big task to write it so that he takes responsibility of waking them up, as well. It’s no wonder then that Luna has become such a contested character to debate over. If anything, it further deteriorates her character development.

I have to add here that proper analysis of literary characters need to use hard evidence from the primary source. Defense of her characterization from most of what I have seen rely on projection, which is not accurate of what is actually seen of her. This makes validation of her character in a meaningful discourse difficult (in other words, projecting ideals onto her character without seeing the forest for the trees will grant you the very least a “D” in your literature class). Furthermore, adding actual romantic messages on the notebook will not fix her either. The romance between her and Noctis, first of all, is flawed in and of itself, and is a different topic, although development here is necessary. Secondly, if you want to tie the romance to her character development, it cannot be argued that it does anything to *her* development. This is because the romance does not help her in any way, does not encourage her personal growth, and as it stands, does nothing to let us know anything different about her or see a another side of her either.  Since she is already grown at 12 years old, the romance has nothing to do with her ascension, either. Giving her a scene with Noctis as adults is actually NOT ideal either, because Tabata’s entire goal for her was to achieve her as a trophy after hours of chasing her, only for her to be taken away. Her death is written to be devastating because of the amounts of effort that Noctis (and the player) have put into chasing her. Writing a scene for her and Noctis before her death would cheapen and backstab Tabata’s efforts - not that it would do anything for her anyway.

Considering that Tabata has expressed his commitment to making her “stronger,” his new track record in Royal Edition does not encourage any trust in his goals. Giving her speaking powers in ghost form (which conflicts with her previous appearances, where it seems like she cannot speak - this also conflicts with earlier design choices and artistic goals of creating a sense of permanence in death), and creating a non-problem that has no significance to the actual story which also contradicts Ardyn’s motivations (the wall over the Lucian citadel) for her to “fix” (when Noctis has no problem summoning Astrals), especially when there is no physical cost, danger, or threat to her well-being (since she is already dead), does not really do Tabata’s need to convince players that she is strong any justice.

So how can she be fixed? A realistic answer would be that she can’t. To elaborate on this, I will assume that the three episodic DLC’s were planned ahead, which is why there are major plot holes in the base game. This means that the free additions to the story, and including the Royal Edition, were not originally planned. This includes the 1.16 patch, where she was given a couple of more lines of crying, the Astral backstory (which has been argued to contradict what was previously known about the Astrals) and the Chapter 13, verse 2 patch update. These examples do not excel in the writing department (the latter was very verbose and awkward in dialogue that seemed unnatural to the base game, even for fancy standards - and it did not actually answer any questions about Ravus’ character development - this was clearly planned for Episode Ignis instead). Basically, from the new additions to the story, the designers did not do a stellar job in showing that they can handle the expectations that fans want, nor are the writers confident in bringing in new material, especially in a short amount of time.

A good example of this is her Royal Edition appearance. Many were disappointed that there wasn’t anything meaningful in her only adult interaction between herself and Noctis. Why is this? Why couldn’t they give us something? This is because the writers do not know what they are like as a couple. They never had to write or think realistically about what their dynamic would be like. The writers are also pressured by the severe time constraints that come with game development. It takes a lot of resources to create such a short scene between the two of them. Good writing isn’t just talent and effort - it is time consuming, which they do not have. Believing that they will create something substantial in such a short time period for previously unplanned story DLC is unrealistic of their abilities. Episode Prompto and Episode Ignis were satisfying because those stories were planned from the beginning, as shown from the deliberate plot holes that they have set up, knowing that they will fill them in. Or, think about it this way: they had an actual story to tell with Prompto and Ignis. This is something that we all knew, being that the base game has given us teases. (Episode Gladio couldn’t be as satisfying because, as stated before, Gladio didn’t have any development in the game.) What about Episode Ardyn? I do not believe that the designers were anticipating such passionate interest in Ardyn’s development, and have genuinely screwed up in his build-up, too (hence why different language dubs will have contradicting information during his reveal to Noctis). As a writer myself, I do not have the intuitive belief that the writers knew that Ardyn had a brother who betrayed him, or where the name Izunia came from. When developing characters, a rule of thumb that all writers must follow is to know their characters’ backstory. This is why when Ardyn’s new brother was introduced to be named Somnus Lucis Caelum, it comes off as retcon-y. No effort was put into studying more Latin terms, so they went with the first word that came to be associated with Versus XIII, as homage to the origins of this game (since he is Founder King). That may seem pleasant from a symbolical standpoint, although it is sloppy. Consider that all names in this games have symbolic meaning. Somnus (”sleep”) means nothing in the final game, so there is no symbolic significance in naming Ardyn’s brother this way (i.e., it wasn’t planned before).

Let’s take a quick look at Aranea, by comparison. She has far less screen time than Luna, yet 100 times more character development. In her first major appearance, she is an enemy, working for the empire. In her second, you find out she is just a mercenary, and that she questions her commitment to the empire. In her third, she has decided to dump the empire and provide help to the survivors in Tenebrae. Aranea has undergone three stages of character development in her only three scenes. This was planned well. They knew who Aranea was and what she will become.

What this means in the long run for a possible Episode Luna, which is previously unplanned, is that the writers will have A LOT to work with in such a short amount of time. We do not know yet how they will handle such a responsibility, since Episode Ardyn is not out yet. Now, Ardyn is a much easier character to flesh out by comparison. He would have to have been young once, idealistic and willing to help those in need. The descent into hatred and anger is, understandably and expectantly, tragic and dramatic. Writing these themes would be easy for the writers to adapt. In other words, his story is already written by assumption just because he is the antagonist of the story, and because he was previously anointed by the Crystal.

In Luna’s case, however, this is not true. As stated before, Luna is the same at 12 years old, before the Niflheim invasion, as she is as an adult. As stated before, adding her abuse story would not be effective character development because of this. If they add this abuse, they risk drawing the ire of peeved fans who do not want to see her as just a sex dumpster for Noctis. All additions added for her so far was meant to convince us that she loves Noctis, which is already obvious. So what is there to do? I do not have proper advice in this case. She should not have been published in this state. Getting her interested in things that have nothing to do with Noctis would be a decent start, so that she can seem human enough. But here is the new catch-22: changing her too much would then betray our existing knowledge of her.

What this means is that if we witness her acting like a normal human being, they risk undermining our understanding of her. Suddenly, it is not one Luna, but two (or, if you think she is that different in Kingsglaive, it will become three Luna’s). If she is not comfortable behaving less formal in front her brother, in front of Regis, and IN FRONT OF NOCTIS EVEN, then how are we going to accept her behaving differently in front strangers? New friends? Servants? And this is only if they decide to delve into her backstory. This is not guaranteed. The massive survey conducted by Square teased that Luna’s story would not really be childhood backstory. It was framed as seeing her actions during Noctis’ story (in other words, her duty to waking up the Astrals). What this means is that Episode Luna would, therefore, exist for Noctis’ sake, too.

And what kind of story, exactly, are they going to tell in Episode Luna when they have shown repeatedly that they do not have a story to tell? I mean, REALLY, IF THEY HAD MORE CONTENT FOR HER, THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY SHOWN IT. The reason why we keep getting scenes that do nothing except repeat what we already know is because they don’t have more content. I am trying to express here that a natural character progression or outline for Luna doesn’t really exist. Let’s flesh this out. The only scene we see where she is directly at conflict with her inner goals is when she is at the brink of giving up, and asking Ravus to take the ring. However, we see this scene after her death, when her character progression has effectively ended which is a problem on its own. Furthermore, this scene serves her less than it does for Ravus. This scene was introduced specifically for Ravus’ development, not hers. It is the first time in the base game the audience was even remotely aware that Ravus has mixed goals. On her side, the effectiveness of this scene in making her seem human is questionable. Why?

It is because we know that she is not realistic in her behavioral patterns. She shows no realistic reaction to her duties, which would logically come out in two ways: one, she would be angry at the gods for demanding such sacrifice from her when the entire Starscourge was their fault to begin with; and two, she would (AND SHOULD) be upset that Noctis, someone she supposedly loves, is going to die, too. But, she’s willing to allow him to die. Compare this to Final Fantasy X’s Yuna, who over the course of her journey, goes from a summoner who is willing to die to save the people from Sin, continually struggling to accept her decision to sacrifice herself as she forms a relationship with Tidus, and then becoming a warrior who decides to stop the cycle of abuse that keeps harming her people, while still maintaining traits that keep her familiar to us. In other words, Yuna’s development is about her being involved with religious and political conspiracies which lead her to then question her faith, only for her to stay steadfast in her own self-confidence and then risk her life to find a different method to save the world. Her refusal to sacrifice her friends is proof of this. There is a clear beginning, middle, and end to her development. Luna, on the other hand, decides to behave in all the ways the gods demand her to, instead of choosing her own fate. This effectively means that all chances the writers take at directly telling us that she “has a mind of her own,” or that her decisions are “her choices” (which is not what she actually says in the Japanese version), are basically smoke and mirrors, completely at odds with normal human behavior and previous world building efforts. She does not have direct will of her actions. Her will to give up temporarily, then, is an inorganic attempt to bring some character development into her, which happens only once, and it happens too late. At best, it is a weak attempt. At worst, it is disingenuous. Either way, this questioning of herself is not a proper method for character development, because her story has no beginning, middle or end. It’s a broken record throughout.

The writers therefore are going to have a difficult time logically creating a character outline for her progression and ascension for a possible Episode Luna. What exactly are we going to get here? What would her journey mean? Are we going to get repeated scenes of her questioning her strength when she wakes up an Astral because she is getting sicker? Rinse and repeat for every Astral she wakes up? What is the point here, when she didn’t even die because of her own pursuits, or because of her own deteriorating health? I would think that her DLC might be useful in learning more about the Astrals, about Tenebrae, or about the Empire. If that is the case, then that has nothing to do with her development, either.

That is not effective character development. There isn’t enough evidence to show any strong sense of optimism in this case. Maybe the writers will have some creative ideas to add to her story that will genuinely be surprising, although having her be a magical badass would then contradict certain elements of the Universe (such as her lack of magic in Kingsglaive). If she is only a healer, then that means that she needs another character to fight for her in her DLC (gee, poor Luna truly can’t do anything for herself). If she fights, then it’s a WONDER WHY SHE NEVER FOUGHT BEFORE, ASIDE FROM HER CONFRONTATION WITH LEVIATHAN. All in all, she’s messed up in general. I suspect that the reason they have not officially announced an Episode Luna yet is because they are struggling to create a proper character outline for her, as well as discussing ways to flesh out game mechanics without making her seem useless or terribly contradictory. If anything, the writers need to know her well before they can add anything. If they don’t even know how to get her to communicate with Noctis, when they have spent so much effort in building believable and meaningful dialogue and connections between the Chocobros, then I have no confidence in them knowing who she is, and therefore, no confidence that they will provide anything of value to her character in the future. TL;DR: Luna sucks and may not be fixable. No, I mean, really. I do not know, as a writer, how to fix her while still staying canonical to the published story, maintaining her relevance to the plot, and proving with little challenge that her actions are vital to the story’s development. **Please check out StoryTime’s video comparing Luna to Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild. I have also noticed these severe similarities between the two of them. I would add that Breath of the Wild did much better in establishing symbolism in the silent princesses (the flowers). The sylleblossoms by comparison don’t have any significant meaning.

     “Psh. Of course I’ve kissed a lot of girls. Sounds to me like you just really wanna do it.”

A famous line that both growing boys would remember for sure. He did tell Zidne he would get great at it, you know, once the first one was out of the way. Maybe ‘ a lot’ was an exaggeration - three in the past year since the boys very first by that gas-lantern. It was something that, well, got easier the more you did it. Turns out, no wonder grown up’s did it all the time. Sure it looked gross, depending on how much spit and saliva and groaning was heard between two lumps of flesh, but when you were that lump of flesh.. it was kind of exciting. 

Zidane doesn’t believe him, or maybe he’s pretending he doesn’t. Blank has had a few too many drinks to be able to tell a playful bluff from a serious rib.

          “No way! I just don’t think it’s been that many!”

     “Mmmm. Sure. Whatever excuse you need.”

Blank wasn’t the one that sucked at kissing.

          “I did it last time! All you did was sit there.”

     “That’s because you lost. You know the rules. Guess I’m just more of a leading man than you, too.”

Another swing is taken, before the teenager decides nah, he wants to chug the rest of his beer. He’s proving his dominance over Zidane here anyway he can, and chugging something far too toxic for a body so young is exactly the way to do it. What are you in Tantalus for if you aren’t a bit of a show off? But the drink does run out, slipping from gloved fingers before hitting the grass with barely a sound. Right. He just made fun of Zidane for being... well, a wreck. That means he can’t be a wreck. Confidence. Ego. Total self-control. Oh yeah.

     “I’m going to prove I got better. And I’m the better kisser. Are you ready?”

          “Now?”

     “Yeah. Unless you just admit you’re wrong.”

Like that was going to happen. Of course, Blank was a bit more nervous than he was letting on. Don’t think about that. Put all your nerves into your gut, past your stomach, until they’re just in your feet to be stomped away. Pride was riding on this! So with a lick of beer-flavored lips, the auburn boy barely gives his tailed companion the ‘prep’ time to ground his own self before - almost just like a year ago today - lips are crushed right back together.

At least this time, Blank is more confident about it, but it doesn’t stop him from snorting so harshly that his nose ached the very second they retracted again. This time there was no Boss to worry about angering awake which would result in a death sentence - thank God, because both giggling boys would be slaughtered with their laughter. Blank plays with his lips between his teeth, hardly able to feel a thing.

     “That doesn’t count. My face is numb.” 

          “Who sounds like he just really wants to do it now!”

Dark Souls - Dragon Slayer Ornstein Yeah, I fell in love with a character just because he looked super cool while he killed me. Then I pieced together the lore, then I made up a story for him and now I write fanfictions about this guy and he is very dear to my heart. I also love all the different interpretations the fandom is having for him.  Bravely Default - Edea Edea shows perfectly what Bravely Default is about. She very much sees the world as black and white as first and you as the player are obliged to go with her view as first, but then you enter Eternia, her home town and not only Edea but also you as the player are getting this impression that the world isn’t as black and white as you thought. Edea is also a badass woman and was my best fighter in the team and she is just overall an adorable character. The Binding of Isaac - Eve I just really like playing as The Whore of Babylon. Having yourself at maximum risk to get power is such a fun playstyle and you can have so many cool combinations with her. Also, the Whore of Babylon demon form looks rad.  Pokémon - Team Skull Boss Guzma Team Skull is the best villain them out there and who are they? A bunch of failed teenagers and young adults who couldn’t do the island challenge. Guzma, who failed to become a captain, takes them under his wings and they are basically just salty. And it is great. Guzma is a villain cause he’s salty about the system and the best thing, he is a bug trainer and a freaking strong one! No one can say to me they beat his after E4 battle with ease, that was BRUTAL! He also managed to kill three of my Pokémon in my Sun Nuzlocke, soooo... I love Team Skull so much that I downloaded a Team Skull Theme for my 3DS and it plays Guzma’s Battle Theme! Yes! The Legend of Zelda - Link Yeah, I love our silent hero and protagonist in all of his different interpretations. It is just a joy to play as him every single time and it is exciting to see which Link is getting handed into your control this time. But I have a very soft spot for Wind Waker Link, that is by far my favourite so far. Final Fantasy - Zidane Tribal Final Fantasy 9 is one of my favourite of the bunchs and Zidane is a good reason why. He is just such an optimistic ball of sunshine, it’s adorable. I also love his design and that he makes some great character development in the game. And that ending scene with him and Kuja was the best!  Harvest Moon - Elli Elli appears in different games, but I love her BTN/FoMT interpretation the most. She is the local nurse and the sweetest girl in town. Despite having dead parents and being in charge of raising her little brothers and taking care of her sick grandma. In fact, she decided to become a nurse so that she could study medicine and heal the sick legs of her grandma.  I fell in love with Elli at first sight and it is a good thing she is one of the bachelorettes in that game. It’s so nice to see her appear in other games too, but BTN Elli will forever be best girl.  Okami - Oki Oh man, Oki is just such a good character! He is an Ainu Warrior, who not only can give you an ass beating with a sword but is able to turn into a dog and does it another time! And his character development is soooo good. The whole battle on top of the Wawku shrine is one of my favourite things in the game. And then in the end. “I want to stay with Shiranui.” Awwww! Metroid - Samus Aran In a world where a lot of video game heroes were male, Samus Aran came as a real surprise. Cause under that suit of armour is a woman. And what a badass woman she is. I love that despite Samus being a very pretty girl you normally see her in her iconic power suit and you want her to be like this. And even though Samus is a total badass, she has her soft side too and also is having PTSD cause of some horrible things that happened in her early childhood. That Samus despite all of that is able to go on like this is very impressive and I will gladly accompany her to each mission. And I completely forget to add Papyrus from Undertale, oh well... Opus Explorations - First Impressions of Planet 8

Welcome to Opus Explorations, a regular feature hoping to provide some inspiration to those of you stuck on the world map, not sure where to turn.

In each installment we will present deck ideas along with a brief summary, a suggested list and the verdict based on actual results when run at Team Calamity OP nights (usually a 4 round Swiss). If the summary sparks a tingle in your loins, then you can access in depth profiles of each deck in separate linked articles.  

With Opus VIII just about to launch, rather than deck lists this time we decided to just go with a few cards we are looking forward to trying (note we haven't seen the full list yet) . If you haven't already then read our previous post which might give you a bit more insight/context into some of the choices we make below...

Rich

Cloud

I might be completely wrong about this card, but I feel that Cloud has the potential to dethrone some of the more frequently played 5 drop fire forwards. Whilst the damage dealt in the early game feels a bit underwhelming, his damage will grow the longer the game goes on. I think the closest comparison to Cloud is Baugavern - except Cloud fits better into dual element decks, replaces the special with the ex burst effect and doesn't damage for a fixed value. And Baugavern by all accounts is a decent card for mono fire, right? The second ability is probably not going to be utilised unless it has the potential to win you the game, but it's mostly going to be risky to just use willy-nilly.

Ultimately, I think Cloud and the presence of efficient finisher damage like Iroha or Rain, could lead the the emergence of an up-tempo mono fire deck that's heavily centred on enter the field effects. Feel free to taunt me 4 weeks after release about how wrong I was, which is often the way when I open my mouth about newly spoiled fire legends...

Lasswell

Lasswell is the card I'm most excited to play this set. It is packed with power that can be problematic for your opponent on a short, medium and long term basis. The most important of Lasswell's effects is his enter the field, as I feel that in today's environment, any card without an enter the field ability is instantly less playable. It's not the most efficient way of generating an on-entry dull and freeze (I'm looking at you, Genesis...), but the efficiency comes from keeping him alive and using the on-swing effect every turn - which for 1 fire cp is nuts.

The special is a bonus more than anything - I imagine that most opponents will immediately respond to Lasswell more than any other forwards due to the pressure he brings, and keeping him alive long enough to use Azure Sky might be problematic.

The one drawback to Lasswell is that he realistically only fits into Fire/Ice decks, and even then I feel like that he requires the deck to be centred around him. Sure - he can be run as a 3 of, and devout'd back if necessary. But I think how the deck runs when Lasswell ISN'T on the field could be an issue. Still, if he performs as well as I think he can, he could be the revival piece to the competitive fire ice decks of yore.

Yuffie

Yuffie represents the ultimate value card, even if it does require a specific setup. Luckily, it will be quite easy to fulfil the 3 Category VII characters requirement via backups - had this card said forwards instead of characters I would feel very different about it.

Despite the necessity of being tied to other Category 7 cards, I think there is a lot you can do with a sneaky Yuffie ninja attack. The 1k AoE on-swing provides a cheap proc for a plethora of other decks (namely Barbarricia and Diabolos in wind, possibly Orlandeau or Opus 5 Ramuh if you feel like getting spicy with Wind Lightning featuring the Turks).

I don't think that Yuffie will be much of a game changer, and she is far from a high impact card. But I think the card represents good value if you meet the criteria and run Godo, and it nailed the flavour of what Yuffie should do in this card game - which does not include being Vincent's or Red XIII's side bitch.

Mitch

Earth – Ardyn. 1 million CP.My pick for earth card is Ardyn. Now I know what some of you are screaming at the screen “but Mitch, the world’s best player, surely you must see that this dies to Famfrit” (*Replace with your favourite way to bone this card) and let’s be honest, if this card couldn’t be removed in any way, this game would just go to deck out and be really boring, god forbid this counter play. I’m under no illusion this card is great verses all match ups and as a result isn’t going to be a 3 of. Just don’t play it vs water…But now I will get to why I like the card; it actually has nothing to do with playing the card. I like it because it forces your opponents to build their deck in a way that they have an out to it, be it Deathgaze, Vayne, Deathgaze, Famfrit or even Deathgaze. This legend will auto win some match ups if they have no easy way to remove. I understand that this card also has “counter play” in that you can break your own characters to stop this beasty from blocking. Okay. Break your stuff. Let’s take earth wind for example, what would they want to break? Cactuar? Nope A back up? Nope, that deck is so refined that it will really struggle to deal with it. Earth Wind can adapt,  but while this is true it that just feeds into my first point.

Lightning – Alphinaud

I know I should of picked the Kpop girls, but honestly they don’t excite me as cards, until they get the support to search or something to make this consistent. I may be wrong but the hype isn’t there for me at the moment.

I also see a lot of promise for mono lightning this set, you have that legend that deals 1k more than a fire legend who shall be shunned (BAD PALOM) and an action that makes this card a kill on sight.

My Card however is Alphinaud, searchable, haste with the right set up, but my interest is more in the deck it opens up. I believe that WOFF monsters, paired with this, lava golem and Urianger will actually become a thing. Urianger can bring back WOFF monsters with this card; it is a cheap aggro deck with a huge aggressive side. Originally I was thinking WOFF monsters would be 9k beasts, but with Alphinaud they won’t even be blocked!

Water – Shitty finger Zidane

I think fire might actually get to see some play this set, finally becoming a game of six colours. Fire got some great cards but it also got cards in other colours that compliment it. Everyone has thought of the Sage on Zidane first turn, and don’t get me wrong, it’s incredible. But I do think Zidane is viable in any water deck.

Zidane, to me, has given something to water which was sorely lacking or at least not strong enough to play and that is an aggressive early game. Everyone knows when you play water they need to set up, but this gives them a different playstyle. Then we come to the ability that it can’t be blocked if you have 6 or more in hand. Keeping 6 in hand before you swing should be viable which forces early removal for your opponent. This allows you to keep your hand up while setting up. Oh by the way, did anyone mention this was good with Fire?

Tom

It's easy to cream over new legends so i'll go for some that are a little less obvious, but I think will be really fun. 

Ice - Palom

2cp Ice forward with discard.....turbo is back!  Well no it's not, thank fuck, but for 2cp you get a multi choice card with all very viable options that you can flex depending on your situation and place a forward on top.  Ground breaking hero, no but I'd love to see ice evolve out from the standard Setzer, Locke VI discard package and I think there's options now to really play around with some different combos/deck setups. 

Fire - Marche

This was spoiled fairly early on and I think has gone under the radar.  Fire was crying out for some consistent value plays and this offers that with an EX to boot (it's searchable too).  I generally don't like cards that force you into mono situations but I like fire so i'll let this pass.  I'd never thought I say it but with Opus 8 buffing fire somewhat, will you be able to find space for this into a mono fire deck?! One to test out for sure.

Earth - Gladiolus  

FF15 slowly crawls it's way into FFTCG, this will probably be one more for fan service.  Limited to Earth CP yes, however, you are going to be running Noctis so that shouldn't be an issue meaning you get a 2cp 9k forward with a dreamy 6 pack.  I also love a special and this one is decent if not a little costly.  You will mainly be running for the cheap body (no pun intended).  Meta defining no, but if you are a fan this will be fun. Depending on the rest of the crew and if we get another Noctis could get interesting.

Peter

Sherlotta 8-053H

Ok so for a 2cp investment, at some point in the game you can cash in Sherlotta. Put her to the break zone to generate 1cp of any element.

You could do this immediately after playing her. For just 2cp! She's certainly my hero of this set.

Let's take a look at the possibilities of this mysterious woman.

Sherlotta will be a card I'll be looking to get 3 foils of, 100%.

Wind is my favourite element and the fact that this card now exists puts wind in a very fun position. You can add any card u want into the deck. You can play Phoenix L, Exodus, Dadaluma and even Opus 2 Yuna. Oh wait... noone plays that anyway :)

From a competitive aspect. Wind is a very popular element choice currently in the meta. Now every wind deck has access to the best bkup in the game. Shantotto. Scary thought huh?

So maybe it will even bring a psycological factor now I'm thinking about it.

As you know Shantotto is like Chaos/Cosmos and taps for any cp. In fact it gains the elements so there's synergy with H Bartz straight away.

I may be mistaken but up til now there isnt a way of playing a 6cp card without discarding from your hand. I feel this is important to mention because you're taxing your hand less which is great for high ceiling turns.

Honestly can't wait to build with this card. I'll be happier than a Catholic priest in an orphanage.

you know one thing that’s really fucking precious? in madain sari, zidane is hopping around all excited to show dagger her culture. granted he and everyone else thought she was alexandrian ( except her; she never came off as surprised ) but well she’s a summoner. no one seems to question how ( which that’s a whole other rabbit hole ) and that doesn’t seem to matter - this is the home of summoners. he gets to the wall and he’s like BE RIGHT BACK I GOTTA GO GET DAGGER and DAGGER CHECK THIS OUT

it’s so fucking sweet and empathetic of him to do that for her - esp when she seemed in a state of shock almost. she wasn’t really giving a lot of reaction to everything she was seeing. dagger tends to be a girl who gets lost and stuck in her head a lot so while i’m sure she was feeling A LOT of emotion being there, expressing it was a different matter. 

but also - zidane ( at that point ) never knew his culture, his heritage, of anything like that. i feel like part of his excitement was absolutely for her, but also him living this vicariously through her.. and it turns out their experiences of not being where they’re from is a shared one. he isn’t even gaian. she isn’t alexandrian. they both don’t remember their past ( yo this would have been a great thing to talk about between them.. ). He has so much empathy for this situation because it IS his situation - he just never found it. ( then when he did it was a shitfest but that’s another post )

Zidane and Dagger can relate to each other in ways very few probably can, along with being part of a people that is on its last leg trying to survive. 

Speaking of culture....

I’ve had the privilage of knowing my parents and both sides of my family and where I was born. I can’t imagine what a mystery like that would feel like. I do know enough that everyone processes experiences differently. Garnet reads to me as fully embracing herself to considering herself Alexandrian. This isn’t something she seems to have any conflict with. What she remembers of her past is hardly talked about - I don’t remember Madain Sari actually bringing her any joy or sense of ‘now i know / things make sense’ - her reaction to everything was different than I would have imagined someone finding answers about themselves. She also never speaks about her birth mother, and calls Brahne her only mother. It makes me question how much of a connection she feels towards her heritage - it doesn’t come off as a strong one, especially coupled with the fact she can’t communicate with eidolons like Eiko can. She comes off to me like... yes, she is a summoner, but she’s Alexandrian. 

Of course I feel like Garnet was also gas-lighted and brain-washed and rewarded for forgetting her people and where she came from and that was encouraged to be a good thing to let go of everything she had and was when she was adopted, which I feel like absolutely shaped her reaction to everything. I dunno; it’s something on my mind.

also the ONLY link she has to her past is a six year old child who doesn’t remember what life was like before “the Hurricane” because she wasn’t there for it. She doesn’t have the answers Garnet would likely want to ask and even if she did - she is a six year old child. that’s too much to put on her to answer every question i feel like would be swirling in her head. 

Starshine           Ch.49          Jimmy Page          Fan Fiction

Jim woke up when it was about 5 in the evening. Jill was asleep with her head resting on his shoulder and her arm around his stomach and her body all warm against him. He kissed her at the top of her head, then more along the side of her face. She smiled a little in her sleep. He began running his hands through

her silky locks. When she awoke, she saw him looking at her with the serious look of love on his face. But then, when the days earlier events slid into and through her mind again, she felt a sudden jolt of panic. Because she could have lost him today, in the lake. For good. What if he never surfaced from the fall under the water ? What if he couldn’t be recovered, remained deep under the surface ? And suffocated.  And in her heart, strains of pain squeezed through her chest imagining it . She was struggling with those thoughts, of how fortunate he was, to have made it upward.

Jill : Darling, when you were underwater earlier, how did you get yourself up to the surface ? 

Jim : I don’t know. I moved up, toward the sunlight. And I don’t know how I did it.

Jill : Well if you did that, then you have some level of ability for controlling your body under water. Whether you know that or not. So, baby, when we get home, I’m setting you up for swimming instructions. I don’t mean we need to turn you into a super athlete, Olympic swimmer. I just want you to learn how to stay alive if you end up in deep water somehow.  Like you did today. Seriously, I would’ve wanted to die, if you had drowned.

Jim : I guess you know, I really don’t want to…attend lessons. But I will anyway. Because I don’t want you to ever feel that low, my love. As there would always be a possibility I could drown. So, more for you, than for myself, I’ll go to the instructions.

Jill : Oh, Jimmy thank you, thank you. I don’t care who you do it for, just do it. Thank you, I am so relieved you’re agreeing to learn. It means everything to me.

And, she began kissing his mouth relentlessly, and caressing every bit of his smooth delicious skin, massaging him everywhere. Kissing and nibbling his neck, giving him thrills.

He loved it, and soon, he said, as he held her tightly in his arms, “Oh, well look what you did now, angel. Look down. I’m harder than steel down below now. And I won’t be satisfied till I have you, my beautiful girl.” So he also massaged every inch of her body, kissing her sensually, and licking all the places he loved. She was leaning forward, near to his chest, while squeezing his length with each lift upward. His voice was straining as he murmured, “Oh, please. Please. My love.” And ultimately, he hit his peak and juices sprang forward from him in currents. Jill felt that happen, fully and it also set off her responses. She lay there against his chest, trembling and convulsing, squeezing his taut arms in her hands, shaking all over and gasping for air. He watched her face closely and he was in bliss, seeing her expression of helplessness. They separated and he kissed her face over and over.

Jim : Angel, I left the planet for a couple minutes there. But I’m back. And after the few crazy events we barely lived through during the last few months, I have to say that that was spectacular. And I’m so grateful to still have you with me, well and alive. And that I can make love to you like we just did, as if nothing ever happened. That is a hell of a gift from heaven. To love you like that, and feel like that. And to see your gorgeous face when you fall apart like that. It’s a dream come true, nearly a miracle.

Jill :  I agree. Definitely a miracle. That was phenomenal. Your love has me more alive and more happy than I’ve ever been.

Jim : Me too, angel. Me too. I’m in love. Just that fact has me feeling high. All the time, no drugs needed. Just you. Just you.

A beeper went off from the building intercom system. It indicated that dinner was being served in the dining room. So they quickly got ready. Casually dressed and they darted out to the meeting area. When they arrived at their dinner table, they seemed winded and their appearance was a little askew. Everyone else had arrived early and were all calmly seated. Percy looked at them with a knowing look. He was quite familiar with seeing Jimmy’s “just been loved” face. Jill had the same look on her face. Peter was next to Percy, and they nodded at each other. Percy exclaimed, “Well, you two. You’re both glowing like idiots. It’s just so obvious.“ 

Jimmy looked up at him, with his shirt on inside out. Since he’d rushed to pull it on, just a few minutes ago. But, he didn’t react to Percy, just ignored the comment. Who cares. It’s natural, normal for people that are clearly in love. What’s to be ashamed of ?

Jill, on the other hand turned deep pink. But when the guests at her table looked right at her, she just winked at them, as if saying, “Yeah. That’s right. I love him.” Which set off a few laughs, since she wasn’t really that embarrassed. She obviously was so in love with Jimmy, nothing could drag her away from that high. In fact she was somewhat proud, that she had an ongoing, busy hot love life with him. She was proud to be his love. Very proud.

A beautiful dinner was immediately served. Everyone was drinking and a wonderful warm feeling ran through their veins. Jill was just so relaxed and

 satisfied. Percy began to speak, about a trail on the property, for walking. He said he learned of it earlier, just after the rowboating. That a pretty trail existed which was lit maybe every 50 feet or so, and would be interesting to do, especially at this hour. It was a temperate night and the leaves were beginning to become colorful.  And best of all, tonight was a full moon. Although the sky was clear and starry tonight, the woods were misty and damp. But Percy and Linda were into it, and they persuaded Jim and Jill to join them. Why not enjoy what the castle had to offer. Who wants to stay indoors ? They could do that anytime, at home. So the four all gathered their jackets and set toward the trail in the forest for their walk.

Kaka is retiring with the same grace with which he played and lived

Kaka could have left his career with regrets. Instead, he leaves it with the same grace he embodied throughout his career.

Ten years ago in 2007 (it feels surreal to think that 2007 was so long ago), I got into an argument with the girl I loved at the time, over who was better between Kaka and Lionel Messi. She was a Barcelona fan. I don’t recall who won the argument, but I think we settled on the conclusion that Kaka was the best at the time but that Messi would eclipse him.

Her denigration of Kaka— or what I felt was a denigration since she wasn’t fawning over him — made me angry, and I remember feeling ashamed at that anger because I knew she was right. But I loved Kaka in a very childish and possessive way. I wanted to protect him and I had failed to do so by exposing his name to people who only saw him as a player, as a thing that would have its time and fade away like all things before it, as a finite being. I felt that he was goodness manifested and that had no place in an argument about talent. After she rejected him, I never talked about him with her again.

When I think of Kaka I think of the word grace. Not graceful. “Graceful” gets used as a synonym for elegant and it’s usually restricted to the appearance of things — to the way a ball is controlled or how a player like Zidane moved. A ballerina is graceful. The way Javier Pastore runs and dribbles is graceful.

“Graceful” describes an aesthetic, “grace” is a state of being. Kaka’s true grace to me was in his person, a grace that came from a higher power and manifested in his every action. He behaved as if he was compelled to be refined, from the way he played to the way that he dealt with setbacks. His appearance wasn’t just graceful; that was who he was.

Kaka was that sporting definition of graceful, too. His running looked effortless, as if he had wings on his feet. His long legs moved in such a continuous and fixed motion that sometimes you could only understand how fast he was going or when he was accelerating by paying attention to the players around him.

Players who were grimacing and pushing their legs as hard as they could seemed to be running in sand when he breezed past them. His dribbling style was just to run past players because he was faster than them with the ball. Kaka hardly ever needed tricks. Not that he couldn’t do them — he sometimes nutmegged defenders — but he seemed intent on getting to the goal and being as efficient as possible in doing so. Kaka’s beauty came from a place of simplicity, not pragmatism.

I remember how radical he seemed when he revealed an undershirt that read “I belong to Jesus” after the Champions League in 2007. During the most important year of his career — one which would see him crowned the best player in the world after getting revenge on a team that had beaten Milan two years prior, as ridiculous money was pouring into soccer and Kaka himself was the subject of transfer speculation that linked him to Manchester City for more than £100 million — there he was, on his knees in front of the watching world, proclaiming that he had a higher calling than everything around him. He didn’t belong to the game, to Milan, or to whichever team would buy him in the transfer window.

That’s why I loved Kaka beyond what he did on the field. He seemed above the troubles of human life. As much as he loved the game, he didn’t let it take him over, and as hurt as he was by things that happened to him, they never changed who he was.

He never reacted to defenders who went at his ankles or tried to injure him. In October of 2000, he fractured his sixth vertebrae and was put in a neck brace. He thought he would never play soccer again.

After the accident, he made a list of goals he wanted to achieve. He wanted to play soccer again, to start for Sao Paulo, to play in the 2002 World Cup, and to play for a big European team. The last was to win the Champions League. Near the end of the ad, he signed a self portrait of himself on the bottom right corner of the canvas, “Kaka, God is faithful.” The same words that he had stitched on the tongue of his boots for most of his career.

He achieved all those things that he wanted and now he’s done. He was a finite being after all, and that’s even more obvious next to the accomplishments of the extra-terrestrial Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. There’s a lot he could regret about how his career turned out — like injuries and poor management — yet he seems to accept his conclusion by placing himself in his faith again; by reiterating that his journey extends beyond the game.

Starshine                Ch. 53      Jimmy Page    Fan Fiction

Once they arrived home, It was back to business as usual for Jimmy. He did enjoy the relaxation of the trip, and the spooky events really ignited his thoughts

and imagination. The close call he had was life changing for him and he allowed Jill to schedule his swim lessons at the local pool. The sensation and sheer pain of nearly drowning was an experience which he would never like to live through again.

He began informing Jill about an upcoming tour for the band.

Jim : I just spoke to Peter by phone. He just alerted me that we have a short one week of dates coming up in a few weeks. In Germany. A few cities. So, I’m hoping you’ll be willing to join us. It should be a nice stay. Germany’s beautiful.

Jill : Of course I plan to go, babe. I’m not staying here alone. I’d much rather be with you.

Jim : Excellent, my love. I’m looking forward to it now. For now, I have a few things I thought of, at the castle. And I’d like to use those ideas to revise a few songs we have. Otherwise, I feel pretty well prepared for our sets we plan to do. 

Jill : Sure, sweetheart, I have some things to do also now. I’m probably going off to see Clare. So I’ll see you later this evening.

Jim : Yes, my love. I’ll do way better than just see you. I’m craving you every minute of the day. As I’m sure you know already, my sweet angel. 

And he put his long arms around her and gently kissed her adorable mouth and her neck a little. He rubbed and massaged her all about her back and whispered to her how much he loved her. And asked her to please, please be extra careful during driving and to pay attention.

Jill took the Vette out for a short visit with Clare, which had been planned. Jill hadn’t seen Clare or the baby since the hour he was born. And he was nearly 2 weeks old now. Clare hadn’t been ready for visitors prior. But now was just right.  Jill rang the bell, with a large wrapped gift in her arms. The housekeeper held the door open, with a big welcoming smile on her face. 

Clare’s face was resplendent with thrill and rapture, to see her friend. She and Jill embraced with a loving hug, which was extremely gentle. Their bodies had both recently been through trauma, so the soft tender hug was certainly on purpose. Clare led Jill into the living room, where the little darling was sound asleep in his bassinette. Jill was so overwhelmed by the spirit of the baby, she practically lost her breath. She placed both hands over her mouth, quietly, at the peace and utter gloriousness of the infant. 

Clare : His name is Andrew. Andrew John. He’s my precious tiny little love.

Jill : Oh Clare !! He is simply mind blowing. Little Andrew ! How very tender. A miracle.

She handed Clare the gift. And sat down, very gingerly. All the exercise and physical strain of the activities of the castle had left Jill a little sore again, at her injury sites. Particularly at the area where her liver had been lacerated. That was on her side jut beneath her ribcage. But she hadn’t mentioned it to Jimmy. No need to get him all freaked out, as he typically would. So she avoided the subject and simply hoped it’d resolve on it’s own. 

Clare loved the gift, a sweet looking stuffed tiger and several sleep sets and day outfits for the tiny guy. Including some infant shoes and booties.

Clare : Oh, Jill, I just adore these. He’s going to look adorable in these, you have such beautiful taste. Thank you very much, and they’re so much in your personal style, I see. Hey by the way, tell me about your trip to Windmere. I’d love to hear about it.

Jill : Fine, surprisingly, there’s a lot to tell. The stay was far from boring. Are you ready ? But, before that, I would love to hear how it’s been being a mom. And all about Andrew. Will you ? First ?

Clare : Of course sweetie, how thoughtful. I’d love to. Let’s have Josie set us up with some tea and a snack though, as we chat ? John’s busy practicing in the downstairs studio, as I’m sure you can hear him. He’ll be up here soon I’m sure, to greet you. Come on into the kitchen. Andrew can rest peacefully here and when he needs feeding, he’ll be sure to call me !!

Jill : Wow, this is so awesome. Your life already seems so much more warm and domesticated. How lovely !

Clare : Thank you ! Yes, it does feel that way now, too. But I like it. However, of course, I’m still a high level rock n roll girl, though. That doesn’t go away because there’s a baby new in town !! Ha !

Starshine                              Ch. 62       Jimmy Page     Fan Fiction

The next day, the band was busy with sound checks and a light rehearsal for the evening concert. Jill had been with Clare in the pool, relaxing and having a drink.

Once done, she returned upstairs. When Jill entered her room, she was very startled to see someone in one of the chairs, with their back to Jill. Leaning far backwards in the chair, long dark hair hanging down. Jill stopped dead in the doorway, wondering if she possibly had the wrong room. But the key had easily opened the door.  A voice spoke out loudly, a woman’s voice,… “Is that you Jimmy, my darling ?”

Jill : Excuse me ? You must be in the wrong room, miss.

Woman : No, I don’t think so. I’m here for Jimmy. Jimmy Page. He’s my boyfriend.

Jill : Is he really ? I wasn’t aware.

Woman : Well, we’ve had sex plenty of times when he was here on other tours, and he told me he’d be back to see me again one day. So - I’m simply holding him to his word.

She put her hand out, as she lowered her chair to the floor. A very attractive and sexy lady. Long beautiful hair.

Woman : I’m Leeza. And I assume you’re Jill ?

Jill : (shaking her hand,) How would you know that ? 

Leeza : Because these flowers here on the table were addressed to you, originally. But as you can see, I’ve crossed out the name, Jill and replaced it with my name. Here, look, …see,  I wrote “For Leeza, (not Jill.) Love of my life. Most spectacular woman on earth. What a great year we’ve had. I love you, eternally, Jimmy" 

Jill observed the tremendous vase on the desk there, containing at least three dozen glorious red roses. Accentuated by other types of white flowers and greens, and leaves. Jill realized it had been just about a year now, since the day she and Jim had met. It was at Jill’s work at New York General Medical.  She was thinking now, Jimmy was so incredibly sensitive, to have remembered the day that they met. And to go to the trouble to get her flowers, yet, for the occasion. And to do so while they were on tour, here in Germany.  She was also completely freaked out by this intruder to their room.

 But Jill had been accosted in the past, by other women on tour, who either lusted after Jimmy, or were in the process of trying to snatch him away from her. This case was a bit different, because this one claimed to be an old girlfriend. Which stung a little. But Jill could let it go, because she knew Jimmy loved her, and she herself had had other lovers, boyfriends in her past, as well. Can’t be jealous of what’s happened in someone’s past life before they knew us. If it was going to be real, then they’d still be together now.

 So Jill realized she may be in danger here, and began backing out of the doorway. As she was walking steadily backwards, she heard voices approaching the room, “Hi Sweetheart, why are you walking backwards ?”

It was Jimmy and Percy. Jill let the door swing closed in front of her. Jimmy had his arms opened to her, and she stepped into them. He was kissing her mouth and petting her hair. She spoke quickly, “Jim, there’s an intruder in our room, but maybe you know her. She’s an old lover of yours, she says. Leeza. ”

Jim : Oh my God, yeah, I know her, from years past. Pushy woman, never could handle taking no for an answer, even when I insisted it was over. Here, let me go in and handle this. I’m sorry, my Jill. That you had to deal with this. So sorry, my love. 

And he pulled her into his arms and kissed her, like he meant it. He held the back of her head and whispered a few words of passion against her ear for a moment. 

Percy : Let me join you in there, in case it gets ugly.

Jill stood outside in the hallway, out of the way but could pretty much hear all that was being said in there. Jimmy had opened the door, stepped in and Percy closely followed. Leeza gasped in delight and leapt out of her chair at the sight of Jimmy. She ran to him, nearly knocking him down in her attempt to grab him. She had her arms around him and her mouth all over his face, as he and Percy tried pulling her off. 

Jimmy : Alright, alright, let go. Calm down, easy now.

Leeza : Jimmy ! My love ! Finally, you came back for me ! I knew you’d be back. I knew you loved me.

Jim : Leeza, how did you get in here ? You know I’m not here to see you. It was over between us a very long time ago. I made that clear to you, years ago. You can’t just sneak into my room and shock people. And, oh no ? What did you do with this card ?  (Jimmy said quietly, on the side to Percy - “Call security mate.”)

Leeza was hanging onto Jimmy like he was a playground climb set. Kept kissing him, and grabbing him. Hands and arms all over him. She ignored all that he had said as if it didn’t even happen. Obviously delusional.

Leeza : Oh Jimmy ! I’m so thrilled you’re back. Let’s go get dinner then come back here and make love like we used to do. We had so many fun times, didn’t we ?

Jim : I can’t understand where your mind is at, girl. But it’s over. And you need to move on. For one thing, I’m engaged. And you can’t just break into a person’s room like this.

Within a few minutes, security arrived and gently carried and escorted Leeza out of the building. It was kind of sad. Jill felt a jolt to her heart - feeling that she hoped that that wouldn’t be happening to herself, in a couple of years.

Jimmy got on the phone to the hotel manager, and had quite a word with him, regarding how Leeza may have gained entry to his room. He learned that she had manipulated her way around the desk clerk at reception. Considering she had remembered a code name Jimmy had used for himself years ago, that he still used on occasion with hotels. Jimmy received heavy apologies from management for the mess up. And he was forced to change his code name at once. The hotel immediately sent up four gorgeous bottles of champagne on ice as an apology.  Along with crystal stemware, and a dozen plates of various hors doeuvres. Jimmy was a little shaken still, and Jill was lightly troubled but trying to stay calm. She didn’t enjoy confronting another woman claiming she was Jimmy’s lover. 

Jill was a bit unhinged about this happening. Jim tried to comfort her, saying these type of incidents happen sometimes and she need not be upset. He held her lovingly on his lap and hugged her and cuddled her. He was telling her that the woman wasn’t his love ever, and that she practically had forced herself on him years ago, and he just let it happen. Mostly because, he said he was so fucking lonely and really needed some warmth. But he was not looking for forgiveness of any type. He was single then. And free. Completely uncommitted, available to do as he liked. And he wasn’t attempting to claim he didn’t enjoy it nor that he didn’t deserve to.

Jim : Angel, don’t let it make you feel awkward, please.  Everyone has a past. It happened. And I was never in love with her. You’re my true love.

Jill : I can’t say that I don’t feel awkward. But you’d probably feel this way too, I think. If we encountered one of my lovers from the past.

Jim : I guarantee that would be true. I would be beside myself. With jealousy.

Jill just lay quietly in his arms, letting him kiss her and caress her for a very long time. She told him that she loved the flowers, even though Leeza had scratched her name off of the card and changed it.  Jimmy smiled, thrilled to hear that she loved the flowers.

Suddenly, Linda was at the opened door, asking if everything was alright ?

Jim : yes, Linda, fine now. But, c’mon in, sweet. We have champagne and a few snacks, so join us.

She came right in with a smile and she immediately changed the room’s atmosphere from awkwardness to lightness. The mood of close friends, enjoying a holiday of sorts. Percy cracked open the champagne and began serving glasses. Soon Clare and John Paul were there as well.

Jimmy gently lifted Jill from his lap excused himself. He stepped over to the desk and crumpled up the old card from the flowers. Tossed it into the fire. It was gone in a moment. He grabbed some hotel stationary and began to write something on it. When done, he kissed the bottom of the note and folded it into an envelope, then handed it to Jill. He sat again and softly directed her into his lap again, hands on her thighs. 

She opened the note, which read, 

“For Jill, you’re the one and only love of my life. I found the Garden of Eden when I met you. This has been the most happy and rich year of my life, thanks to you. All my love, forever, Jimmy.

Starshine Ch. 52 Jimmy Page Fan Fiction

The next morning, Jimmy opened his eyes and realized Jill was pressed up tightly against him, with the covers held tightly around herself, up to her neck. Unusual, he thought. He carefully pulled himself out of the tiny space that she

had backed him up into, during the night. He went to use the bathroom and shower, while allowing her to rest longer.

As he reentered the bedroom, Jill’s eyes were open and she was rubbing them and stretching too.

Jim : Good morning my beautiful girl. How are you this morning ?

Jill : Well, could be better. I had a crazy night.

Jim : Really ? What was wrong ? By the way, it smells like smoke in here !

Jill : Ha !  So it does.

Jim : Why ? Did you notice it too ?

Jill : Oh my goodness. Yes. Yes I did. I do. That’s just the beginning of it. .

Jim : What ? Beginning of what ?

He walked toward the window to look out at the weather for a moment. Jill’s eyes followed him, in his towel skirt,  as he approached the window. 

Jim : (while looking/touching at the window ledge.) Hey. There are tobacco ashes here on this window sill. Also, these blinds are totally closed. I left them partially open for light. Did you close them during the night ?

Jill : (smiling, shaking her head.) Nope. But I’ll tell you all about it. At breakfast. 

She rose and put her arms around her love and kissed his luscious lips. Then went in for a shower. Left him standing there smiling.

Once they were dressed and ready, they joined their group at their table in the dining hall. As they settled into their spaces, drinking some fantastic brewed coffee, Gary approached. He faced Jill and spoke, “ Ms. Gartenhaus, I’ve shared your story from last evening with the other staff people here. And may I say, they were all astonished and in sheer awe of your experiences. The chef, particularly was fascinated. As a result, some aging baking recipes have been located in an unused cabinet this morning. The chef immediately directed the kitchen crew to prepare the old blueberry scone recipe for this morning’s meal. And by the way, the entire ancient book of recipes are now being reprinted and added, staggeringly, to our current menus.”

Gary handed a basket of baked goods to Jill. And low and behold - it smelled heavenly and filled with the scones.. Jill was astonished as she lifted one out of the basket, with a soft smile on her face. She noticed there was some letters carved into the bottom of each one. “Hmm. Z.G. ….that’s for Zach ? Zach Griffins ?” she asked. 

Gary : No. For our chef. Her name is Zoey Graham.“

Jim : What an amazing coincidence. Z.G.

Gary : Coincidence ? Or fate ?  And by the way, an elder staffman here mentioned that Mr. Griffins was buried on the grounds here. Of which I had no idea. Just near the entrance to the bridge, maybe 50 yards into the woods. You are welcome to visit his grave, perhaps, before you leave, if you like.

They all tried the blueberry scones, with butter. Which were as delicious and moist as a baked treat could be. Gary was then called away, which gave Jill a chance to share with the table and Jimmy, the events of the spooky encounter in their room last night. Jimmy‘s mouth was agape and he looked as though his now glassy eyes were about to pop out of his head.  

Jim : Jill, I can’t believe you didn’t wake me for this ! But, truthfully, honestly could it have been a dream ?

Jill : No, how could it have been ? Especially keeping in mind, that you saw ashes on the window sill this morning, and smelled smoke. Probably from his pipe. And the blinds were fully closed when you got up. And I swear I didn’t touch them.

Everyone was tingling with a touch of fright and intrigue. Chills travelling up their spines. After their meal, the entire group treaded off toward the bridge. The air was crisp and fresh. The colorful leaves were still covered in droplets of water from the night. It had just rained and the sky was still dark and cloudy. As they arrived at the bridge, Percy spoke, 

Percy : Hey. Look. There’s a small plaque here. Nailed to the rail of the bridge here. It reads : This bridge honors the life of Zacharias Griffins. Sea Captain of the Royal Navy. Died here in a hunting accident 1935. Rest In Peace.

Peter :  Well, the poor guy. He lived a strong honest life but died too young. And he still provides his services to this very day !

Jill spotted a gravestone standing in the distance, among some trees. They all ventured over. The group gazed at Zach’s gravestone and said a silent prayer. Jill pulled from her jacket pocket, a lone blueberry scone she had wrapped in a few napkins. She placed it atop Zach’s granite grave stone. “Bless you, friend.” she said. And they all traipsed back to the castle to pack up and head homeward.

The day so far had been grey, dark and heavily overcast. The castle concierge loaded the group’s luggage into the van. Jimmy, Jill and Percy sat in the very back seating of the van, peering out the back window as they prepared to take off. Suddenly, as he gazed toward Griffins Bridge, Jim spoke out in an excited voice, and pointing, “People !  Look, there by the bridge.” Jill and Percy viewed to where he pointed.   A dim grey figure stood spookily at the foot of the bridge, holding a lit lantern. Motionless. His arm up in the air as a silent farewell, to probably the first people he’d spoken with, in the last 43 yrs.  He was in the far distance, so no other details could be seen, just the figure. All three received a sharp strike of electric jolt through their bones at the site of him.

“What a trip.‘ announced Jill. “Hope he enjoys the scone !

Starshine                         Ch.18       Jimmy Page      Fan Fiction

Clare was at home alone having a peanut butter and tuna sandwich, with a strawberry milk to drink. And didn’t mind when a few burps erupted. She laughed a little then pulled out his number from her purse. Four rings, then a manly voice spoke, “Yes, hello ?”

Clare : Hi, have I reached Julian ?

Julian :  Yes, this is. 

Clare : Well, hi, this is Clare. You and I met at the Led Zeppelin tour in New York last Spring. Remember, I’m Bonz’s girlfriend. Long dark hair, friends with Jill ?

Julian : Clare ! Yes ! Of course I remember you. Awesome lady with a warm smile. Always kind. Yes. How great to hear from you.

Clare : Oh sweet, thanks. Yes, nice to speak with you again. Excuse me one second, ( as she held her hand against the receiver while a burp squeaked out,) ok, excuse me, I’m back. Here’s why I’m calling.  I had a thought about you and I wonder if you have any interest in this subject. But, first I need to ask you, are you available in the dating world ? Or has some smart woman scooped you up since we last spoke, dear ?

Julian : I’m single still. I did date someone for awhile, but it just didn’t work out. She wanted to keep dating other guys and I wanted my own girlfriend, not everyone’s girlfriend.

Clare : Oh wow. I understand. Can’t believe she couldn’t see what she had, when she found you. Well, I know a lovely young lady who has recently become single, and I know for a fact that she likes you. In fact, I heard her remark once, that your blue eyes were ? mesmerizing, was the word I think she used. And you may remember her. 

Julian : Oh woah. You’re kidding me. She said that ? Can you tell me who ? 

Clare : Sure, it’s Linda Moore. You may remember her, slender, very pretty, long very light blonde hair. About 28. She was dating Percy at the time.

Julian : You’re kidding ? That beautiful girl is interested in me ?

Clare : Well, I’m not sure I would exactly say it that way. What I am saying, is that she remarked about the fact that she found you attractive when we were in New York. She’s my good friend. And now it seems, that she happens to be single now. And I thought it might be nice for the two of you to get together. She has no idea that I’ve contacted you. Therefore, I myself would give her a call and see if she’d like to meet with you. Is this sounding ok ? Or would you rather I not call her about it. Either way is fine, just let me know.

Julian : No, no no no. I’m interested. Yes, give her a call by all means. I’d love to get together with her. She’s a very sweet person from what I remember.

Clare : Yes, she is. So, if you do get together, please treat her gently, she’s delicate and fragile. And a loving and generous person.

Julian : All the more reason to set it up !  Hey, Clare, thanks so much. Let me know as soon as possible what she says.

Later that same day at the Page residence, as they lay face to face on their bed, Jill was telling Jimmy, “I was told today I need to go on travel with my work colleagues. Only for about a week, to Champaign, France. I’ll have to leave in two weeks from now.”

Jim : Wait ? But, you never said the job involved travel.?

Jill : Well, it wasn’t ever mentioned. But it has to do with the project and I’m the main worker on this segment of the data.. I don’t like the idea either. But unfortunately, it’s mandatory for me.

Jim : I don’t love this idea. Let’s hold off for a moment. Let’s talk about it.

Jill : Well, ok. But, how is talking about it going to change things ? . 

Jim : Well, maybe I can come with you.

Jill : Sure, babe, you’re welcome to. That would be fine. But, you wouldn’t be able to attend the working labs I’ll be doing. You wouldn’t be allowed in.

Jim : No, I realize that. But, I could do other things during the day, then we can eat meals together and sleep together.

Jill : Sure we could. But, are you sure it wouldn’t be more wise to stay here and you could probably get a lot accomplished ? With Zepp ?

Jim : I’m not sure what’s coming up by three weeks from now, no performances I know for sure. But, just let me call Peter.

Jill :  Sure sweetheart. It’ll be fun if you come with me. That’s not a bad idea.

Jimmy went to the next room and called Peter. And he was on the phone for awhile. Jill heard him speaking loudly and it really sounded like arguing. It didn’t sound pleasant to her. When he was through with the call, he came back to the bedroom with a disappointed look on his face.

Jim : Well, that didn’t go my way at all. 

Jill : Why, what happened ? 

Jim : Grant says we have two important meetings that week. One with the record company people and the other with the copyrighting company. And the dates can’t be changed. I have to attend. No way out. 

Jill : Alright sweetheart, it’s only for five days. It’ll be fine. I’ll miss you, but what else can we do. At least the trip is not a month or two long of traveling. 

Jim : Well thank God it isn’t because I would probably ask you to quit that job then.

Jill : You would ? 

Jim : I don’t know. It just seems really unpleasant. I don’t like being away from you. Especially for that long of a time. Can we drop the subject ?

Jill : Yes, we can. I wouldn’t want to be away from you for months, either. 

Jim : Just hearing about this has definitely caused my spirits to sink considerably.

Jill : Oh, sweet angel, are just 5 days going to mess you up that much ? I will be coming back you know.  Are you really that attached to me ?

Jim : Jill, do you really need to ask that question ? Did you just meet me yesterday ? What do you think ?

Jill was struck square in the heart by his telling answer. She held his neck and his head in her arms and kissed him at the side of his face as his lips and mouth were buried in her hair, breathing deeply her intoxicating scent. She could barely hear him, but was just able to make out the words he spoke softly into her hair, 

“ I love you like crazy my beautiful girl.”
