your face will fade away by Windmire
Rec’d by @stevieraebarnes
This was such a formative jaydick read for me personally when I first got into fandom. I was immediately taken by it, immersed in the plot and emotions, and a lot of the takes in this fic (subversive soulmate trope, angst with a happy ending) became such a benchmark to all future fic, mine included. This fic imprinted on me the moment I laid eyes on it and I'm forever grateful 💖

various fe fates premise/worldbuilding rewritey ideas i've been pondering...
since i've been replaying conquest recently and am once again frustrated with this game's writing
first, as a way of making garon non absolutely definitively evil AND bake anankos's involvement into the game's base premise, having garon NOT kidnap corrin intentionally. corrin is separated from sumeragi on that business trip after their party was attacked by vallite soldiers as anankos wanted to either kill or retrieve his child. corrin is found by nohrians and brought to windmire when they are found to have dragon blood... POWERFUL dragon blood. they suffer the same memory loss like canon. hoshido asks for corrin back, garon refuses since their draconic blood isn't that of the dawn (or even dusk) dragon and he is concerned hoshido wants to use them as a weapon or otherwise does not have their best interests in mind. garon does not believe that corrin is hoshidan because they don't even LOOK hoshidan
corrin still going to the northern fortress but not out of malevolence. it's genuinely for their own health. the attack on sumeragi awakened corrin's dragon form for the first time, but without a dragonstone, they were unable to control it as in canon. they CONTINUE to be unable to control the instincts, which were often triggered by the stressful environment of the concubine wars, so garon sent them far from castle krakenburg to avoid more incidents for their and other's safety. visiting was restricted for a while, but as things settled they were seen often by garon + their siblings.
corrin knows their vague origin, that garon isn't their actual father, but still acknowledges him as such (and garon acknowledges them as their child). they also remember how bad things were during the concubine wars and are both accepting of why they were sent there and somewhat hesitant to leave
more general things of garon being a semi decent father. the manga had a really good part where garon recognised leo's mother in him for an instant and called him that. more please
because of garon being less definitively evil, the hoshidan Throne Of Truth being a way to purge anankos's influence and expose garon's TRUE self i.e. save him rather than expose anankos as in canon. this may be an idea raised by corrin/azura but perhaps even better would be for it to be GARON HIMSELF'S plan as he tries to rid himself of possession without anankos catching on. this being his plan in all three routes but only coming to fruition in conquest... where the throne doesn't work as planned and garon is killed when anankos is brought to the surface
garon being possessed by anankos in the first place as he tries to research what was going on with corrin. he reached many correct conclusions but unfortunately walked right into anankos's grasp. he doesn't want to be possessed, tries to resist the possession (directly and in more subtle ways as in above) but as time goes on, the more his condition degrades
fun idea => awakening trio being accepted so easily by garon as they are a) informed of valla etc., able to steer xander/camilla/leo from the same trap garon fell into with anankos and b) POTENTIALLY able to slow down anankos's possession of him?
an exploration of what the 'skies changing' mentioned in revelations even IS. it is the act of hoshido's sky becoming dark and nohr's becoming light (or vice versa). canon states it happens 'once every few decades', but nobody really knows when it will occur as there is no way of predicting it
the skies changing defining the way both nations act.
nohr, deprived of fertile land and harvest, conquers other nations to gain the resources they need to survive. inequality and poverty is rife as its citizens scramble for the limited available sustenance. even the royal family does not live in luxury and are themselves well-acquainted with not being able to secure food
hoshido, with bright skies and plentiful harvests but knowing that no matter what they do their prosper is temporary, stockpiling resources in preparation for their oncoming long night. its citizens are satisfied but on guard, particularly the older ones that recall its former famines. the royal family, understanding the duty it has to its own citizens when night falls, is reluctant to send aid to other nations. a particular incident is when mokushu had an outbreak, hoshido refused to send medical supplies despite them being allies, which is what caused mokushu's current disdain towards hoshido.
the skies changing is why the two nations have never been able to coexist. even though hoshido currently exists with a surplus, and there could well be enough resources at any given time to adequately support BOTH nations, there is no precedent for either country ever sharing their sustenance when they can access it. neither country will make the first step because there is no guarantee that the favour will be paid back when the skies change again.
garon and mikoto's rule being equally informed by past precendents and desire to survive/fear for the future respectively
garon, as alluded to in canon but never shown, is-slash-was a very good ruler that did a very good job maintaining order in the country, ensuring nobody least of all the royal family is permitted to hoard while others are left to starve. things have only degenerated in recent years as anankos's possession has taken its toll on his ability to rule and food shortages continue to worsen. YES he conquers nations but certainly in the past only when trade deals failed or were unviable => nohr had plenty struggles with these as it is currently unable to offer much except manpower and protection, which not all nations need or appreciate. nohr's view is that they would rather conquer others than allow their own citizens to starve, and for a long time garon has been appreciated by his citizens for doing what must be done
mikoto being cautious above all else, very aware of and fearing what's to come as described above. further, her coldness towards other nations being informed by corrin's kidnapping and sumeragi's death--which she believes was done by nohr. azura, by the way, was still kidnapped in retaliation for nohr's alleged actions.
mikoto also should not die in the prologue. just saying. she should be allowed to stand equally with garon as a good yet flawed ruler that is unable to see past the present and make the necessary first step to a better future
lots of general themes about smaller nations on the continent always being pushed around by the two superpowers' squabbles over resources

do you know any good fics with with cass as the main character?
I SURE DO ANON. Thank you for giving me the excuse to yell about fics.
First off, I recommend this fic by Hinn_Raven. Cass centric with her falling into a different universe with no Batman and figuring out how to be the Bat there anyways. Hinn_Raven also has a number of Cass centric works found here so whatever type of Cass fic you're in the mood for you'll probably have a good few options to choose from.
There's also these Cass Appreciation Prompts by RenaRoo. My personal favourite is the Star Wars AU but I've bookmarked quite a few.
Which leads me too: My bookmarks! I'm currently going through the Cass tag and marking every fic I've enjoyed, and since I'm a tiny bit of a Cass fan there's a lot of works centered around her there. The summaries usually let you know who the mains are, and a lot of them are ensemble pieces with no real lead, but there are more than a few Cass centric ones there too.
The latest fic I've read is who we become after dark by Windmire. It's set in the universe of the Arkham games, which I've never played, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's stephcass, with the first chapter being from Steph's pov and the second from Cass's, and it shows their stories and how they became vigilantes in this specific universe.
And finally there's also my fics. If you don't like stephcass there's just the silly one of her and Jason beefing, a sad one of her and Tim, and one of her Bruce Jason and Shiva being neighbours. If you DO like stephcass then buddy you have come to the right corner of the internet. Got 5 fics and working on a 6th because I may be a procrastinator but I'm not a quitter and those stephcass week prompts are getting done no matter what. I'm hesitant to call them Cass centric just because they're about her AND Steph, but she is the main character and the pov character in a lot of them. The bias shines through I guess.
Thank you for the ask! I hope there's at least one or two fics to suit your particular taste. I'm kind of tempted to do weekly fic recs tbh because there's so many talented authors and it's kind of hard to find them because the Cass tag is polluted almost as bad as the ocean. But for now hopefully these will do the trick!

CONNECTIONS
write about how our muses could connect with each other! ex. what does your muse like to do that other people would be involved in? do they have interests that other people might share?
Niles likes to sneak into places he's not supposed to be in. He'll weasel his way into any situation if he believes it'll benefit himself or Lord Leo in some way. He's not the sort of guy to readily offer charity out of the goodness of his heart, he doesn't work for free. Right now his concern is getting a scope of the place. Niles will likely run into his fellow skulkers and people-watchers, and he'll be inclined to bug them.
Now, if you're in Leo's classes Niles is more likely to take an interest in you (ie: background checks, as much as he can anyways). For these students he'll start out a little more tame, similar to how he treats Corrin and Elise, out of respect for his master. Be warned that just because he holds back at the beginning doesn't mean he'll refrain from unleashing his full force if he thinks it's warranted.
If your muse is in trouble? He'll likely make it worse! Niles is great at pointing and laughing at others' misfortunes and would play well with similar muses. On a similar note, if your muse is emotional and easily upset they're going to be one of his favorite people to bother.
Occasionally he'll visit Abyss. He's used to the slums of Windmire and makes enough connections between the two places to feel accustomed to the energy there. Still, Niles would never dream of spending the night there. He doesn't have the highest opinion of the place and thinks little of the people who make it their home.
2. PLATONIC
Write about your muse and their concept of friendship. Ex. how is your muse like with friends? Do they make friends easily or do they find it difficult to connect with others?
Niles does NOT make friends easily. If your muse approaches him trying to buddy up, his first reaction is to question their intentions. He purposely creates distance between himself and other people, and doesn't warm up easily. Friendships are meaningless without trust, and Niles believes real trust can only be forged with people who have endured the same hardships as you. Only when Niles sees you at your worst will he decide if you’re worthy of his trust, of receiving his absolute best.
Even friends aren’t immune to Niles’ usual poking and prodding—if he really likes you, you’ll hear them more often! True friends will recognize the difference between the lighthearted way he teases them and the way he tries to break strangers down with his words. He gets along best with people who have also lived a life of suffering because he feels he can relate to them more, and they’re the sole exceptions to his otherwise equal-opportunity smacktalk. Niles physically closes himself off to people he's not close to. But with people he trusts you can tell he's much more relaxed: no longer crossing his arms, not so stiff, he's much happier, etc.
He’s absolutely not the type to pour his heart out to anyone willing to listen—he still has walls to maintain.
3. ANTAGONISTIC
Write about your muse and the conflicts they have with other people. Ex: who are they on bad terms with, what kind of people do they not get along well with, how do they act around people they don’t like
So basically this is gonna be most people because of how Niles is—
He doesn't look like the friendliest, most approachable guy you've ever met and that's the sort of vibe he likes to cultivate. As mentioned previously, he tends to keep most people at arms length and isn't a trusting person. Niles is actually neutral about most people but is very open about his love for schadenfreude, which can cause a lot of friction between him and other people.
If you've lived a privileged life, or if Niles believes you've lived a life with no hardship, he really wants to see you fail. He loves seeing lords shoved off their high horses. He loves seeing how people react to the worst news they've ever heard, if they'll cry or lash out, how badly they'll spiral.
Dislikes people who try to moralize him or who try to make him out like some wet kitten who needs help (very few do but You Know).
The only authority figures Niles recognizes are from the Nohrian royal family. Anyone else who tries to give him orders gets a stink eye.
4. ROMANTIC
lol. lmao even
Niles believes he is not someone meant for gentle love and is convinced he’ll never know it.
He will have a hard time being genuinely soft with someone he loves because he's unpracticed at it. Because of his past selling his body and time, he knows how well he can fake being in love with someone and fears that happening with someone he genuinely cares for.

If I can ask another one ‘you’re not alone. i’m staying right here.’ and Xanlow
"You're not alone. I'm staying right here." 1.4k, xanlow from this ask game
Xander had a business trip that was taking him across the country, way up by the northern sea and among the black rocks, freezing winds, and terrible storms. It’s meant to last months, and Inigo’s bendable when it comes to location, so—he decided to go along with.
This afternoon, Inigo’s sitting on one of the rocky beaches, solidly far from the cold ocean. The air is nice and salty, he’s got a thick blanket to sit on, and he’s only been rained on a tiny bit. He has a much wider view of the sea from the apartment they’re renting, but he was getting lonely inside. So now he’s lonely outside.
Xander’s at work right now, much deeper into the still-unfamiliar city that’s strikingly more gray than Windmire’s black. And Inigo, just a short while ago, got back from a dance class he found nearby. He’d like to say he’s going to a rehearsal tonight, but… Well, he’s between jobs.
He doesn’t really have connections in this part of Nohr. It was a struggle to get them for a while in Windmire, and he made the poor assumption that because he already went through that once, he wouldn’t again. Inigo’s been beating himself up for not asking around more to see if there were any friends-of-friends around here when he had the chance. Anxiety and freelancing unfortunately do not go hand-in-hand.
He hasn’t been completely jobless, but he’s certainly not busy at the moment. It’s harder to get a shoe in for contracts and auditions when he’s relatively unknown. And even if he’s been socializing in his classes to try and make some meaningful connections, so is everyone else, and Inigo is really great at flubbing things up.
Xander keeps telling him not to feel guilty—it’s always a possibility to be without work for a while with a job like this, and Xander makes more than enough to keep them afloat. But it’s hard to help it. Inigo was hoping he’d have gotten into a groove by now, yet he very much hasn’t, and it’s hard not to feel guilty using Xander’s money for his own things.
Not that moping by the sea is improving his situation whatsoever. But it’s pretty, it smells nice. And if nothing else is lovely in this gray city, at least the gray ocean has a charm. He doesn’t get to see it often.
Inigo’s outside longer than he realizes, because he gets a text from Xander asking where he is. He’s probably home, then—whoops. He tells him he’s by the ocean side, and asks if he should come back, but Xander doesn’t reply. So Inigo stays put, sitting quietly on his blanket, until he hears footsteps from behind.
Expectedly, it’s Xander. “You found me,” Inigo says lightly, scooting over a bit to make room. Xander sits down next to him, still in his stuffy work clothes, and he kisses Inigo’s temple lightly.
“You weren’t too hard to spot.” Which is fair, since Inigo’s like, the only person out here. It’s cold today—and Xander’s nice and warm, so Inigo certainly doesn’t mind the company. He leans into him, eyes still on the ocean, loneliness drifting away for a while.
“How was work?” Inigo asks. He’s still surprised it’s gotten so late. He’s not usually the sit-still-and -close-your-mouth type, but he’s feeling awfully sluggish today. So perhaps that’s why.
Xander sighs. “Fine,” he says. “Work.”
“Ah, yeah. At least you’re done now.” Xander’s work clothes are also gray, sometimes black, and sometimes Inigo gets him to wear a colorful tie. But he’ll always have a shock of blond that keeps him standing out. Inigo’s just the opposite, hair gray and dull, but he likes to wear blues and greens and whites. Sometimes purple, too, because his mother likes it most.
Xander puts his arm not quite around Inigo, but sets it down behind him so it crosses over his back. “How did your class go?”
Inigo shrugs. “Good, it was good. Pretty fun today, we worked on new stuff.” He inhales, then slumps. “I, uh. I’m kind of sort of making some friends?” It’s hard to be a socialite when the one tactic he had is completely off the board, now. Getting married kind of kills the flirting game. Not that he always got the best results with that, anyway.
Xander hums. He leans into Laslow, too. “I’m glad it’s coming along.”
“Ah, that’s a good term for it.”
A cold and slightly wet wind comes by, and they both shiver. Even if you can’t see the sun in Nohr, the nights are still colder than the days, and the evening is rolling in without a second thought. It was already chilly, but it’s getting chilly chilly.
“What are you doing out here?” Xander asks, and Inigo chews on his cheek. There’s why is he out here, and why has been out here for so long, which are two different questions with two different answers.
And despite what he asked, Xander’s probably looking for the latter. “I… Just got lost thinking, for a while,” he says. He looks down at his knees, covered by soft blue sweats and not doing a great job at keeping the cold out. “Wishing I’d get a call back, or something.”
Xander does put his arm around Inigo now, rubbing his arm gently. It warms him up a bit, and Inigo goes on. “There's this terrible feel of… Isolation, that I've got. Like—if you and I weren’t doing this together, what would I be doing? Living in a hovel and eating stale bread, workless as I’ve been?” He huffs, and cuddles into himself. “I hate having nothing to do.”
Xander scowls, in a very cute way that involves his lips scrunching a bit as his eyebrows lower. “You aren’t alone, there’s no point in giving what-ifs attention,” he says. “I’m here, I don’t mind. Take your time.”
“I know, I know,” Inigo says with a pout. “And I’d rather you here than not. It’s just—boring. And depressing. And you work for entirely too long, I get lonely.” That being, Xander works a respectable nine-to-five which he’ll only sometimes come back late from, since Inigo pesters him immensely otherwise.
Xander gives a small and considerate looking grin. "Maybe I'll try harder to beat the traffic next time," he says, which is nice. “Do you have plans for tomorrow yet?”
Inigo’s classes are every other day with a three-day weekend, so when a fraction of his time isn’t taken up by that, he’s sort of left open ended. Not that Xander doesn't work tomorrow, though, so he can't count on his company until later.
“I might go to the gym?” Inigo says, since he’d much rather be ready than not if he does end up getting a proper contract. “And, uh—if we need anything, I could go shopping, too.” Xander thinks for a moment, and so does Inigo—and then he completely hangs his head. “I feel like—like, I’m all washed up. Don’t I sound washed up? Am I still young enough to say I’m not old enough for this? ”
And Xander does not seem to appreciate the comment. “You aren’t washed up,” he says firmly, then frowns. “You were doing fine in Windmire.”
“But I feel like I am, and that makes all the difference.” Inigo throws out an arm, like he’s presenting himself. “Look at me. Sitting dramatically by an ocean, on a dark cloudy day, getting rained on—”
“Is it raining?” Xander says, interrupting Inigo’s self-deprecating rant and glancing up to the sky.
Inigo lets it go pretty seamlessly. “Oh, it has been. Only a little.”
Xander looks similarly unamused. “We’re going back inside,” he decides, and starts standing, leaving Inigo quite cold and alone.
“What? Nooo,” he says, since he was slightly enjoying the miserable feel. “I shouldn’t have mentioned that.”
Xander extends a hand to Inigo. “You’ll get yourself sick.”
Inigo just looks at his hand for a moment. And then he frowns, and takes it, and as he’s pulled to his feet he grumbles, “I won’t get sick.”
“You will,” Xander says, meaning Laslow didn’t mumble his grumble enough. “And then you’ll sulk around the apartment feeling useless all day.”
Laslow snatches up his blanket from the rocks. “I do that anyway.”
They start walking back together. Xander looks pretty cold in just his button up, so maybe it’s better they do. It’ll only be getting colder, after all.
And Inigo guesses—even if he’s feeling guilty and washed up, and even if he’s antsy all day and anxious all night—
It’s pretty nice to have somebody who’ll take care of you, too.

21. A memory of the first time they did an activity they love
She's flying, soaring above the clouds. The wind is whipping in her face, sending her hair flying back like a lilac flame. The air is crisp and cold, it stings her lungs in the best way possible. They climb higher and higher together. She raises out of her seat, exhilaration filling her. And then suddenly they're diving. She feels like an arrow loosened from a bow string. The clouds are delightfully wet as they break through. Just before the thought of crashing could even cross her mind, her wyvern pulls up and begins to glide.
The view is breath taking. There's an indescribable beauty to her country that she has never noticed from the ground. The browns and greens of the earth mix together like a tangle of threads. Little houses spring up from the earth like pins in a cushion. There's a gaping hole, Castle Krakenburg, like a knot keeping the carefully embroidered city of Windmire together.
She'll be chasing this feeling forever, she just knows it.

FE Oc Week: Day 2
Relationships
Part II
Aria
Leo
After losing her home to a fire, a young Aria was left alone. Unsure of what to do, she wandered Nohr for a period of time before finding herself at the capital. It was there in Windmire that she met Leo. Aria, who was immediately smitten with Leo, leaped out to protect him from an assassination attempt. Although young, she was formidable and took down the attacker swiftly. Seeing her skill, Leo decided to take her as his retainer.  During the concubine wars, Aria would stay by Leo’s side as often as possible to protect him. Her closeness with the Prince earned her quite a few enemies, and horrible rumors soon spread. Despite it all, Aria wouldn’t hesitate to do anything for him. Even if it meant withstanding harsh gossip, difficult training, and sleepless nights, she would endure it, because she loved him.
Niles
As Leo’s retainers, Aria and Niles spend quite a bit of time with one another, often being sent on missions together. Initially a work relationship, they began to bond over their devotion to Leo. During their conversations they would find out that they have more in common than they first thought. Over time, their relationship would evolve into a friendship. At night, the two of them can be found gazing up at the night sky. They like to sit in silence, enjoying the peace and one another’s company. Sometimes, Aria’s light humming can be heard. However, they often butt heads when it comes to Niles’s crude and sadistic behavior. Aria always reprimands him when he says profane things in her presence. Niles, on the other hand, finds it quite amusing how flustered he can make her by saying such salacious things to her.
Odin
When Odin first appeared, Aria did not trust him. His odd character and the way he spoke made her wary of him. Once Odin became another one of Leo’s retainers her suspicions began to quell. By spending more time with him, she was able to learn of the caring and sincere part of Odin beyond the theatrics. Initially hesitant, she grew to trust and respect him, seeing him as a friend and ally she can rely on. Although she still cannot understand everything he says.
Amélie
Mirae
Despite being Mirae’s retainer, Amélie and Mirae are like sisters. They’ve known each other since childhood and were practically raised together. No matter what happens they know they can count on one another, and would do anything for the other. They often can be found singing together, creating sweet melodies that fill the air. Mirae, due to her shyness, has difficulty approaching and conversing with people. Oftentimes she will panic and shut herself away. Worried for her friend, Amélie comforts her and helps her through her anxiety. Amélie does her best to support Mirae, giving her the courage to put herself out there and talk with others. Amélie, in her appearance of being sweet and calm, tends to hide her more negative feelings. Because of their close friendship, Mirae is one of the only people she feels comfortable expressing her full emotions to. Mirae is always willing to listen to her friend, and remind her that her feelings are valid.
Mirae
Alfred
Mirae was promised to Alfred at a young age. A decision made because of the young prince’s condition. It took a while for them to finally meet, having only exchanged letters to one another. When that day came, Mirae found herself flooded deep with worry. What if the prince was mean and cold? What if he was a philanderer? Secretive? Cruel? The thoughts kept invading her mind. Worse, she would have to rule alongside him. Mirae had enough trouble asking someone to pass the salt, she had know idea how she would command a kingdom. Luckily, her fears were put to rest when she saw him. He was charming, if not a little dopey. Alfred ran toward her, handing her a large bouquet of flowers. It was so large in fact, she couldn't hold the entire thing. Her grasp on it slipped and she ended up covered in flowers. Mirae immediately grew embarrassed over her own clumsiness. She began to apologize profusely for ruining the bouquet he had gifted her. Tears swelling up in her eyes, she bowed her head in shame. Alfred, of course, wasn’t angry. Instead he grabbed one of the flowers, and brushing the hair that had fallen in her face aside, placed the flower in her hair.  “It’s alright,” He had said to her reassuringly. “I think you look rather pretty with the flowers in your hair, like a fairy princess!” Mirae stared at him before tears started rolling down her face. Alfred panicked, “Did I say something wrong?” he asked, concerned. She shook her head, smiling at him.  She started, unsure how to express how she felt. “No, um, I…” Mirae felt fortunate to be marrying someone as kind hearted as him. Steading her breath she tried again, “Thank you.”
Celine
As soon to be sister-in-laws, Mirae and Celine have gotten to know each other well. They enjoy spending time together chatting over some tea and cookies. Topics of their conversations range from the current happenings of Firene to exotic flowers of other regions. They both share in worry for Alfred’s health and concerns for the future. But, together vow to work towards a brighter, peaceful future for Elyos.

Nohr was Emma's home, she has never stepped foot outside of the nation. The raging war with Hoshido made that much too dangerous. She remembered her late father telling her about a peaceful time in Nohr, before the power struggles in the noble classes and the conflict with the neighboring country of light. That conversation was before he was drafted, and his subsequent passing.
It seems the nobility of Nohr has learned nothing since then, still sending the common folk to fight their war while fighting pettily among themselves. When eyes were cast to the crown, King Garon simply looked on with scorn and ignored the cries for help from his people. The lower classes suffered while the nobles remained in their ivory towers.
It was intolerable.
It started off as small acts of vigilantism, but as her skills grew and connections were established, Emma, dubbed 'The Performer Ariadne', set about exposing the nobility to the people. What was one voice to a mob? Though, eventually with these acts it was inevitable a price would be put on her head by a noble upset with her actions. Her face, though masked, was plastered throughout Windmire.
"Haha, that price keeps going up!" She remarked before swiping the poster marked 'Dead or Alive' from the brick. Wow, she really made them mad this time. She wondered how hard it would be to sneak into Castle Krakenburg to snag some more secrets before getting out of there. Maybe she'd get some dirt on Garon himself? The woman could only hope.
"Ah, probably was above ground too long, I should bounce." The sound of hooves was audible, so some knights were probably passing through. She'd done this tons of times, just gotta slip into a nearby manhole and-
Ah. There was someone there. "Uh. Boo?"

Jaydick for the ship asks?
Ship It!
1. What made you ship it?
Fanfic. There are just so many good JayDick fics out there and so many of them don't bother hiding how absolutely fucked up these two are.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
I am embarrassingly into this ship which is hilarious because I used to not understand it at all. I think I like the range of relationships you can get out of them. They can be sweet. They can be toxic as hell. So many of their issues can either cause their relationship to implode or strengthen it. Jason's Robin run is so short that you can literally put anything and since the only bats at the time besides Jason and Bruce are Dick and Babs then it just makes sense to build something there.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on this ship?
Ooof. I know we love making Dick like this unreal beauty that everyone loves but I'm kind of sick of it. I want a supporting cast that will take Jason's side without taking changing their relationship with Dick. (There was one fic where Artemis was not impressed by Dick and I want more fics like that!)
I want Dick to be just as crazy about Jason! If we're using a teenage Dick make him have regular teenage things like acne, a horrible mustache, and a weird sweaty smell.
If the age difference between them is shortened then don't change the fact that Jason was short as hell until he was like 18. (Knocked Me Off The Ground by Windmire did this really well) .
Actually just remembering the age difference is good. Dick is like 6 years older than Jason and it should come into play!

MEANS TO A TRIUMPH - & HINOKA
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ; birthright route of fe14
RESOLUTION SINKS INTO THE AIR, forever ripe with grief and vengeance.  in these moments, when the hour of sunrise is far from setting into the horizon, when the air is pungent and raw, ophelia finds that moving comes with ease.  the soles of their flats press lightly against the barren ground as they rush towards the expanse of scattered houses within the nearest village.  deserted, yet not as silent as the capital city, windmire.  close to the far boundary of nohr’s borders, villages are left with a hunger of resources that not even the capital city has.  supplies rarely make it out in time   —   ophelia cannot remember the last resource stock that was pushed out of the castle’s walls that did not go towards the army.
the slope of the hill ends here; ophelia pauses at the dent in the ground, surveying the land before them.  the slants of tents and sound of all things alive, all things well.  they opt for the side, approaching the closest house and pressing their back flat against the wooden wall.  there had been word of hoshidan forces that were traveling deeper into nohr, but this is too early.  they hadn’t been expected for another few days or so.
(   forrest had warned ophelia as they hung their cloak over their body, sliding bruised arms through the sleeve slots and pulling the hood over restless, fluffy locks of wheaten blonde hair.  they were supposed to stay stuck to the mission, call nina or forrest if responsibility desired for backup.  they were supposed to live to come back.  it did not take long for their mind to conjure every reason on why destroying the camp and taking down a royal to push back the forces from nohrian soil, would be the only priority to hold.   )
the hoshidan camp is a flutter of tents and equipment laid out far into and out of the deserted village.  distant steps of hooves suggests that the pegasus are situated further into the tree line.  so, ophelia pulls their hood over their face further and unsheathes the dagger clipped to their belt, over their mage robes.  if they waited long enough, a hoshidan royal would show face amongst the few warriors that can be seen.  ophelia would kill them; magic would set the entire camp into hysterics, it had to be a last choice.
“   princess hinoka, the pegasus have been situated for the night.   ”   ophelia’s dagger hilt digs into their palm in response into the boyish, eager voice that speaks up right around the corner of the house.  there are only two, by the sound of it.  hinoka.  ophelia only needs to kill one.  only one needs to die but to hell with patience, the damned virtue.  the moment that the person’s shadow reaches past the grass and he steps out from the side, ophelia pushes themselves off the wall.
the boy notices them immediately, shock freezing him in place just as ophelia’s fingers close around the shawl that hangs from his shoulders.  whatever gasp or yelp almost slips from the boy is replaced quickly by a muffle when ophelia’s hand presses over his mouth.  the blade of the dagger pressed against his back, tearing the fabric of his robes.  healer, is what they guess by the lack of reflex.
“   the dragons above will hold gratitude towards your cooperation,   ”   gently, ophelia whispers to him.  aware of the hoshidan princess around the corner.  hinoka.  not wise in magic yet a master of the naginata.  ranged but not close enough to strike where magic can.  with refined confidence, ophelia moves the blade to press against the boy’s side,   “   how many royals walk the realm of this camp?   ”
but comes no answer.
it is fine, though.  if hinoka is to turn the corner, then the hoshidan army will simply lose a hero.  two, if fate wishes.  it is a sacrifice well worth the numbers; indeed, ophelia will remember to add him to the list of legends to tell.  the list of lives to share.  if a name is needed, they can always create one from blood and honor.
“   Chosen One might need to borrow the robes you seek identity from,   ”   the boy muffles something underneath their palm and ophelia’s gaze quickly raises to the front.  though even the tension isn’t enough to stop them from giggling,   “   i ask again, number of royals?   ”   in response, supposedly, the hoshidan holds up a finger.  reason only proves that he must be young if his instinct pushes him to respond and not fight back.  ophelia nods, more so to themselves, and moves back against the corner of the wall, dragging the hoshidan with them.
the blade cutting into skin remains a reminder of what fate will strike down if a noise is made.  for now, patience settles beneath heroine’s skin as they wait for the shadow of the princess.

"What business do you have at the capital?"
His horse's reins in one hand, Siegbert stopped along a path in the outskirts of Windmire. The prince was returning home from a short journey to the south. He was as guarded as he normally would be around a strange person; his sword was well within reach. But while he'd normally exchange pleasantries and move along, Siegbert found himself probing further. Something seemed familiar about this person, but he couldn't place his finger on it.

✧ ⁺ ⁺ @princepsumbra asked;
Now, with time allowing, his gifts to her tend to incorporate more than a small present and a stolen kiss. If anyone questions the grandiosity, Leo will brush it off as merely enjoying the full privileges of their royal status.
A good thing indeed he's such a practiced liar. Inside his chest beats a romantic heart--once you get past the thorns and frost.
"This is worth it, Corrin," he whispers, draping her newly acquired cloak across her shoulders. The deep purple satin shines softly in the candlelight, hiding a layer of faux fur that will keep her warm on the coldest of nights.
He repeats the mantra to himself while leading her out of the monastery. Even he holds no small amount of trepidation about keeping her from her blanket nest.
Eventually they reach a clearing in the forest--convenient there's already a basket containing extra blankets and warm tea waiting for them.
Once settled, Leo points to the sky above. Stars have begun to fall, streaking across the sky in brilliant lines of light. "Happy Midwinter, my love. Make a wish."
Tumblr media
Dragon draws her shoulders closer beneath the warm weight of her cloak, worming her way ever closer to Leo’s side as they walk. Odin’s merriment be damned -- was covering the entire monastery in arcane frost truly necessary? “If you’re sure,” she mumbles back.
But home would be covered in far thicker layers of snow by now, and she would be buried in blankets by a fire while Jakob fretted over the exact number of pastries and Elise insisted on hanging more bows while his back was turned. At the very least, she can pretend that this is another year spent sneaking away from it all.
With a hum Corrin sits, not wasting a single breath as she reaches to fish out a blanket and toss it over both of them. She draws herself in closer until her head can rest properly upon his shoulder and looses a content little sigh.
It’s then that Leo points upward -- crimson eyes darting eagerly to follow. The sky above is neither Nohr’s brooding clouds nor Windmire’s artificial stars, but rather a display of glittering golden lights.
And it’s breathtaking.
“Oh...” There’s that wonder in her tone, eyes wide and round. A wish, he says, and so with a reluctance she shuts her eyes and nods. For her family to be whole again.
When they reopen, her gaze flickers to Leo, warm in that way it always is for him. “This is amazing,” a gentle kiss to his cheek, “thank you, Leo...”

FIRE EMBLEM FATES AZURA CODE
FIRE EMBLEM FATES AZURA SERIES
However, in place of being executed, Corrin is recognized as the lost member of the Hoshidan royal family, kidnapped by Garon during a previous war with Nohr. When sent back to the normal world, Corrin is captured by Rinkah and brought to Hoshido. Lilith then appears and takes Corrin to a pocket dimension, revealing herself to be an Astral Dragon. While retreating, Corrin also falls into the Canyon. The fort proves to be occupied by Hoshidan forces, and Hans betrays Corrin and knocks Gunter into the Canyon on Garon's orders. The king then decides to send Corrin, their servant Felicia/Jakob (dependent on their gender), their mentor Gunter, and a reformed criminal named Hans on a simple mission to scout a fort near the Bottomless Canyon as a punishment. Corrin defeats the prisoners but refuses to kill unarmed foes, enraging Garon. The king gives Corrin the sword Ganglari to kill two Hoshidan prisoners, Kaze and Rinkah, as a test of loyalty and ability. After a training round with Xander, Corrin is allowed to finally leave the castle and the royal family departs to Windmire to meet with King Garon, their father. Corrin is then awoken by Felicia and Flora in the Northern Fortress, where Corrin grew in seclusion with the royal family of Nohr. The major choices in the game revolve around who Corrin wishes to align with throughout the story.Ĭorrin dreams of a battlefield where forces from Hoshido clash with the Nohr army, and both sides ask Corrin to fight with them. Corrin is allegedly a blood descendant of the Hoshido family, however, Corrin was kidnapped by Garon and placed into the care of the Nohr royal family. The story features two opposing kingdoms, the black kingdom of Nohr, and the white kingdom of Hoshido. The Special Edition released in the rest of the world contains all three campaigns on a single cartridge, allowing players who purchased the Special Edition at launch to experience Revelation before its official release.
FIRE EMBLEM FATES AZURA CODE
The Japanese Special Edition contains both Birthright and Conquest on one cartridge, as well as a download code to get Revelation with no additional charge. In all regions, Fates received Special Edition releases which come with multiple campaigns. Digital copies purchased from the Nintendo eShop in Japan and the PAL regions initially download the first several chapters, then the player chooses one campaign to be downloaded and must pay for the others North American digital copies come in the same configurations as their physical counterparts. Revelation is available only as downloadable content. Physical copies of the game are published in two separate editions for Birthright and Conquest, and the side not purchased first by the player is available as paid downloadable content at a lower price than the retail cartridge. The Birthright campaign has the player side with the Hoshidan army, the Conquest campaign has the player side with the Nohrian army, and the Revelation campaign has the player side with neither and eventually unite members of both nations to their cause. The game is divided into three separate campaigns: Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレムif白夜王国 Fire Emblem if White Night Kingdom), Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレムif暗夜王国 Fire Emblem if Dark Night Kingdom), and Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレムifインビジブルキングダム Fire Emblem if Invisible Kingdom). When the game was first revealed, it was claimed that it was an entirely original story with no ties to other Fire Emblem worlds, but this is not entirely true as the game features three characters returning from Fire Emblem Awakening. The player is given a critical choice: to assist Hoshido, their birthright, in repelling the Nohr invasion, to stay with Nohr and serve its cruel king Garon in completing the conquest of Hoshido, or to abandon both and seek revelations about the true origins of the war. The story follows a player avatar with deep ties to both nations, born in Hoshido but raised in Nohr, who is at the center of a critical war after a disaster in Hoshido. Unlike prior games in the series, Fates is split into multiple editions which follow different paths of the same story.įates is set on a new, unnamed continent split between two great nations which have long been in conflict with each other: Hoshido, a peace-loving eastern nation themed after medieval Japan, and Nohr, a barren, glory-seeking western nation. Character designs and artwork were handled by Yūsuke Kozaki, who was also responsible for the character designs of Awakening, while the basic story was written by the manga storywriter and novelist Shin Kibayashi.
FIRE EMBLEM FATES AZURA SERIES
It is the fourteenth installment in the Fire Emblem series and the second for Nintendo 3DS. Fire Emblem Fates (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレムif Fire Emblem if) is a turn-based strategy role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS system.

Sewer Rats
So they were the conquerors. She should have suspected something was off when she saw a fellow who looked too much like Hans for her tastes. Seeing someone who looked like Iago confirmed it.
She needed a job away from the main camp, seeing those two made her skin crawl, so she quickly signed up to help breach the city walls.
She did not expect to be walking through a sewer.
Camilla rolled her eyes and tied up her hair. "Let's just get this over with." She sighed, trying not to gag as the smell overwhelmed her.
Her partner was still a stranger to her, Anankos. He had introduced himself with an apology, but never answered what he was apologizing for. After that, he seemed to avoid her.
Now he was stuck with her. The perfect opportunity to learn if this stranger had any connection to her beloved Corrin.
The low ceiling was making Camilla feel antsy. She hated confined spaces. Her territory was the sky, not beneath the ground.
"I've hear rumors of a village underneath Garreg Mach." Camilla said idly as they traveled. "There is a city underneath Windmire as well. I can't understand why anyone would want to live so far beneath the ground. I don't even want to be buried in the ground."

“Summon Mr. Ardeur to the castle right away.”
The rivalry between the Ardeur and Betelet fashion houses was quite famous in Windmire, and decades in the making. Madame Betelet designed many of Camilla’s formal gowns. If Ardeur knew this, Maria reasoned, it would spur him to create dresses that were even more beautiful than Camilla’s out of spite alone!

The Summer Premiere at the Cyrkensia Opera House [Pt. 1]
Summary: Lord Xander von Siegfried is stressed and overworked. He finds the spectacle distasteful, but still attends, so he can relax. He finds reason to be amused.
Rating: K+ - Suitable for more mature childen, 9 years and older, with minor action violence without serious injury. May contain mild coarse language. Should not contain any adult themes.
Words: 1013
Notes: Not my brightest hour, but still, first Fates series!
Tumblr media
The foyer of the Cyrkensia Opera House was teeming with glitterati, opera and ballet enthusiasts, members of the press, and one Lord Xander von Siegfried, the newly minted peer of the House of Lords, after the recent passing of his aged and mentally-ill father.
He might be known as a peer, and will be referred as such in the society pages of tomorrow’s paper, along with the many photographs that the journalists around him are taking, but this is not his most prized achievement. Garon might have rehearsed immortality, but no man is eternal and there are no ATMs in the afterlife. Therefore, it was inevitable for him to become a Lord, just as long he kept himself alive long enough.
There were no guarantees in raising through his corporate career, and he is proud of the work he put on to lifting his own construction company, far from the thumb and deep pockets of his father. It, along his three half-siblings, is the one thing he loved in the world, and he is immensely dedicated to its success.
It was a hard-earned position, he thought, ignoring the cacophony of voices around him. One he had pursued doggedly upon first completing his higher education in Economy and Business, then spending three years running around several positions in the sector before finally managing to raise enough capital and opening his own company.
Politics, on the other hand… If Xander lived on a democratic society, if he was not born to the right bloodline, he knows that he would never rise to the position of a member of parliament. It is not something that he cared about, and he is no good with public speeches and law-making.
In fact, he would feel more comfortable if any of his siblings could take that position for him, but, alas, he is stuck. Nevertheless, he hopes to do a good job on it, and has been dedicating himself into learning the ropes and pushing for his agenda.
Alas, he is tired and felt as if he deserved some vacations. When his work duties brought him to Nestra, especially on the premiere of the Summer opera season, he knew that he needed a ticket to relax to the sound of the best company in the nation.
He sipped champagne, his lips turning in distaste and, when no one was looking, poured the offending liquid in a nearby planter. He understood that this is a non-profit and he supposes he is glad that his money is spent in art rather than in parties, but the quality of food that they serve their benefactors is revolting.
As he waited for the start of the spectacle, he mentally reviewed notes on the property that they were considering for a late-year release and wondered if he would have time to drop by the branch office after the performance. He would like to have a bit more time to research the indicators before closing on the deal on Monday.
The lights flickered and the buzz around the room changed as guests made their way inside the theatre. Xander displayed his patron credentials to the attendant and proceeded to his seat near the front, just across from centre stage. The perks of knowing the marquee performer.
Tonight’s premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and The Nutcracker opera-ballet harkened back to olden days when double billing was quite common. As an opera aficionado, Xander could not understand why anyone would want to ruin a good aria with dancers prancing about on the stage. Still, he was here to show his support for a friend.
He had met tonight’s soprano, Azura von Valla, back at school, as he attended a higher grade than hers on a suburban academy in Windmire. They were close friends regardless, as her mother hung around often their home. She had introduced him to the world of opera, a passion of hers from cradle. At first, it was not something a proud young man would be interested in, but in time, it won him over to the point that he donates to most companies throughout the nation.
When the theatre lights dimmed and the curtain slid open, he found himself getting lost in the sheer artistry of opera, the drama, the music. When Azura glided on to the stage, he felt pride at seeing his friend at the top of her profession, her siren-like voice captivating as she sang of pain, loss, heartbreak and fragility of life. As the first act gave way to the second, he wished once again that the performance had maintained the purity of opera.
The second act opened on a birthday party. He inwardly sighed as the chorus of ballet dancers frolicked on to the stage, their lithe bodies waltzing to the romantic melody. He was about to run through a series of property statements and evaluations until intermission when his eyes fell on the principal ballerina who floated onto the centre of the stage.
Stage lights sparkled off the tiara anchoring her blonde hair tied back into a bun. Like a fairy covered with dust, she seemed to shine; her body flowing into complicated steps, portraying the excitement and nervousness of a first love and then loss of innocence as love was torn from her.
Mesmerized, his eyes followed her as she drifted across the stage, taking in everything from the delicate beauty on her expressive face to the evocative music that appeared to have been written with her in mind. When the theatre lights came on for intermission, he silently cursed, wishing he was back in the oneiric dark with her.
Not caring for company, he stayed in his seat, reaching inside the seat pocket for the program guide he had been handed earlier. He flipped through the pages filled with useless fluff until he found the list of performers. He devoured her brief profile, reading and re-reading the details, looking for any clues to who she was. The accompanying professional headshot highlighted rabbit-like pink eyes that seemed to stare through him.
Corrin Anankos. He had a name.
