Day 31 - SH Month 2023

Day 31 "There's nothing I wouldn't do to make you feel my love"

The lone house in the otherwise uninhabited ground used to light up only the garden lamps after midnight. The last few weeks, however, light penetrate through the blinds and keyholes giving a sense that the house is glowing all through the night. Cries, laughter, a bump to the toes, a creaking of a furniture being moved unwittingly, they filled the house at one hour for a little while only to return in a couple of hours later. The house doesn't sleep so soundly anymore at night. It isn't as quiet as it used to be.

Sasuke finds himself waking up easily yet rather groggily he makes out a sight of his Hinata and their son wrapped in a blanket made of cotton cuddling at the foot of their bed. A sight he's becoming familiar with for the past few weeks.

"Ah you're awake," Hinata murmurs, smiling as she did, yet not bothering to look up. "Did I wake you?"

Sasuke shakes his head despite knowing she isn't equipped to see.

"Sleep some more," she says, now looking at him, smiling still it reaches her eyes. Her eyes returned to her baby, rocking him with a gentleness only a mother could produce, permeating all the love she could muster from her every pore.

"I love watching you with him."

Pearly eyes widen marginally. Stifling a sniff as her eyes start to become moist, Hinata brings a delicate finger to caress the babe's cheek. "He really looks like you."

Her husband smirks with pride. "He is my son."

Hinata giggles and catches herself in fear of disturbing her son. "It does seem like I am obsessed with my baby, doesn't it?" His little mouth has stopped suckling for a while now. Gently she unlatches his mouth from her breast.

"There's still time until sunrise," Sasuke says softly, eyes transfixed to the sight before him. "Let's get back to sleep."

Hinata nods, settling her son down inside the powder blue-painted crib. "After I watch him some more."

Together, the new parents lie in each other's arms, watching the baby wriggling about, until sleep returns to them.
