　昨年の春に花苗の交換会に初めて参加して以来、楽しくて継続して参加させてもらっています。　じぶんが今まで出会ったことのない種類や育てたことのない植物について知ることがいい刺激になります。また、お庭づくりやお花を生けるプロの方が会場にいてくださるので庭や植物についての相談をすることもでき、実際の植物だけでなく育て方、飾り方、ハーブなどの場合には利用のしかたなど植物に関するノウハウを交換しあえる場、としてもとても素敵だな、と思うのです。　今年は特に春以降、おうちで過ごす時間が多かったからでしょうか、夏の開催時にはもちろん、感染症対策をした上でですがそれでも「久々に外に出て、人に会ってリフレッシュになった」というような声もありました。　何より、参加されるいろんな方々のそれぞれのお庭を植物たちが行き来するさまを見ているのがうれしい。　交換する場、なので必ずしもモノが減る、というわけでもなくなかなか庭は片付きませんが（笑、それでもやっぱり、植物に限らずこういった機会に人と出会い有形無形の何かを交わすって、わくわくすることだなぁ、と思いますし、ここからそれぞれにとってあたらしい時間が始まることもあるかもしれない、と思うと、なんとも好日的ではないか…♡としみじみするのでした。

　そういえば、お芋掘りをしたひともこの季節はいらっしゃるのだろうなぁ、なんて思いまして。　ニョッキ、ときくとじゃがいもでつくるすいとんのような、パスタのような食べもの、というのがわたしの中のイメージなのですが、　じゃがいも以外にもかぼちゃやセモリナ粉でつくることもあるそうで、　今回ご紹介したウィークエンド・ニョッキはさつまいもをつかったもの。　バターにはちみつやメイプルシロップ、シナモンを加えたソースをからめていただく、甘いニョッキです。　ホイップしたクリームをトッピングすると、とろりと溶けたクリームと、甘いおいも、そしてバターやシナモンの風味と香りが重なり合って、にやにやしてしまいます（笑。　海外の料理ブログをながめていておいしそうだな、と思いつくってみたのが最初。でも、どうして「週末の」ニョッキ、なんでしょうね。　実際につくってみると確かに少々手間や時間がかかるので、お休みの日のゆったりとしたときに、という意味なのでしょうか。それとも、週末の甘いご褒美、ということ？　結局なぜそんな名前なのかは謎のままですが（笑、おいものおいしい季節、ほっこりした気分に浸れる一品です。　 …ああ、そうか、まるで週末のようなほっとする気分を味わえるから、かな？！

Thursday 6 February

We now changed to a new teaching room in the Business School of the Aalto University, the ‘gold’ cluster on the other end of the Väre building. The room was T003.

Since this was the National Sámi Culture Day in Finland, Tarja started the day with a presentation of a Finnish joik artist Wimme Saari.

Projects were discussed. We had to leave our room in the afternoon for a couple of hours due to a double booking. Students then worked in the open area in between in the common ground.

In the evening half of the students and the tutor Sam went to the ‘cold-water’ swimming pool and sauna Allas Pool at the harbour of the main Market Place. There was a freezing cold wind outside, so this cold water swimming is for the brave souls. All tutors, except Sam, walked back to the centre along the Esplanade to the Savoy Theatre. Tarja had arranged tickets for the tutors for a contemporary joik concert. Two Norwegian acts performed, the Vassvik duo from the Arctic Coast gave the most impressive performance. After that the main act Elle Márjá gave with her band an interesting performance, mixing film clips and all kinds of media with her contemporary joik. A political message is central to her performance talking about the plight of the suppressed Sámi people and their lands, threatened by global energy multinationals, forestation, and sea oil and gas drilling companies, threatening their way of life.

Arctic art blossoms in Helsinki

The first artArctica Festival from 11-13 February in Helsinki. During the festival, three Helsinki based artists - singer and singing pedagogy student Alicia Burns, violinist and political science student Katarina Sjöblom and musician and wilderness guide Laonikos Psimikakis-Chalkokondylis - will bring movies, exhibitions, photography, discussions, music, dance, and poetry by artists from every corner of the Arctic to Helsinki’s Sörnäinen district.

Vapaan Taiteen Tila, an old underground bomb-shelter, will be made to resemble the inside of an iceberg

The day program includes e.g. a panel discussions with the topic of how connect centre and periphery, curated by Ekaterina Sharova from the Arctic Art Institute in Arkhangelsk, a dance performance with the title Sinking/Floating by Hailey McLeod and Meghann Michalsky, a workshop/performance by the Helsinki Poetry Connection or a presentation by Mariann Hansen and photographer Eija Mäkivuoti on Mäkivuoti’s photo documentary Birgit’s Garden about the Faroe Islands, their culture, nature and last but not least (metal) music.

The evening events will create a warm atmosphere from 8 p.m. on with music and movies e.g. by singer-songwriter Benjamin from the Faroe Islands, the short film selection Skábmgovat Goes South or troubadour joikingby Wimme Saari. For these events tickets are required - they are 10€ a pop and can be bought via the Mesenaatti campaign or the festival website. The diverse program offers something for everyone.

I wanted to choose this article because I love music festivals and art. I found that this festival was atypical, we do not find every day a festival in the snow and cold

　家で過ごす時間が多くなって web上のさまざまなコンテンツを利用することが増えました。　ここしばらくは SNSなどで「～チャレンジ」なる、いわゆるバトンを受け取ってやってみた、という方も少なくないのではないか、と。　腕立て伏せなど体力系のものからお料理も含め食べ物にまつわるものや映画や音楽、また器や収納？といった暮らしにまつわるものまで、多岐にわたっていていろんな方のチャレンジを興味深く拝見させていただいていたところ… 　なんと、わたしにも 2つのバトンが！　ひとつはブックカバー・チャレンジ、という好きな本の表紙を1作ずつ7日間投稿するもの。これが意外にたのしくて、また7作に絞り切れず、結局14日間やってしまいました（笑。　投稿した作品は以下の通り。　柿沼忍昭　著　「食禅」細川亜衣　著　「朝食の本」岡野ハジメ　著　「岡野ハジメ　エンサイクロペディア・Catharsis of music」えざきみつる　著　「いきもの漢字図」ヘェメヨースツ・ストーム他　著「ジャンピング・マウス」ナンシー・ウッド　著　「今日という日は贈りもの」おくはらゆめ　著　「ワニばあちゃん」 Tepilit ole Saitoti 　著　「MAASAI」ワリス・ディリー　著　「砂漠の女ディリー」大高郁子　編　「久保田万太郎の履歴書」エラ・フランシス・サンダース　著　「翻訳できない世界のことば」藤井聡子　著　「どこにでもあるどこかになる前に。」小谷ふみ　著　「やがて森になる」永六輔　著　「六輔流・日本音楽史　人はなぜ歌うか」　　もうひとつは影響を受けた音楽のアルバム作品のバトン。こちらは10日間のチャレンジ。この「影響を受けた」という部分がなかなか難しかったですが、なんとか10作選びました。　 Angelique Kidjo [Fifa] Eddi Reader [sings the songs of Robert Burns] おおたか静流 [Serenade] Robbie Robertson [contact from the underworld of redboy] Wimme Saari [Gapmu] Sainkho Namchylak [Naked Spirit] Filippa Giordano [FILIPPA Giordano] Edie Brickell & New Bohemians [shooting rubberbands at the stars] Bobby McFerrin [spontaneous inventions] Szaloki Agi [gingallo] あまりこういうバトンを積極的にやるタイプではないのですが、実際にやってみるとじぶんの輪郭を再確認するようなこともあって、はっとさせられたりもして。　家での収録とあわせてなかなかおもしろい体験でしたのでお話ししてみました。　　　 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * < 日々是食べたい！ … 白きくらげ > 　

　着々と夏に向かって気温も上がってきて、さっぱりした味のものやのど越しのよいものを食べたくなってきます。それが身体にやさしい食材であればなおよし、ということで今回は白きくらげを選んでみました。　薬膳の食材として何百年も前から身体によいものとされてきたそうで、近年では人工的に栽培できるようになりお手頃な価格で買えるように。名前のとおり、きのこなわけですがサラダやスープはもちろんデザートにもなる、というところがユニーク。ぷるぷるコリコリした食感もたのしい食材です。　　半透明のひらひらした形状は涼しげできのこだけどなんだかエレガント…！　氷糖銀耳やチェーなどアジアンテイストのデザートをつくってたのしんでいます。
