I don’t think it’s cynical to suggest that Charles wants The Prince of Wales and The Princess of Wales to be associated with others than himself or Diana, I think it’s realistic. It’s why he created William PoW so fast, to cut that off from himself and make sure there’d be no confusion. I love that it just solidified Willliam’s status, but imo Charles wanted to make sure everyone knew he was now The King, and that there’s another Prince of Wales.

Also it's to make it obvious that THIS is the royal family.. ya know.. there is a reason Charles immediately referred to William as his heir.. it's calling the continuity of the monarchy and to highlight how he is no longer PoW etc

It seems that both Willliam and Kate (and their team) are too short-sighted to understand that if both Wales and England make the finals of a world series, they should congratulate both teams.

It's almost as if, despite their titles, these are two English people with no substantive connection to Wales or Welsh culture. It's a bad look that only highlights the disconnect between them and the Welsh people. Can't say I'm impressed with their first few months and Prince and Princess of Wales.

Cleaning out my Drafts box...this one was drafted not long after QEII's death. Now I'm on Sussex overload, but I like the bits in this about William and family.

Charles will put the monarchy in peril if he allows rapprochement without a very public, complete mea culpa to Great Britain and the royal family from Harry that includes he and his wife's culpability...particularly on the racism charges. Delivered on camera by Harry so Britain can gauge the sincerity. Harry's wife must agree...no further Brand Sussex = Brand 'Victim of the Big Bad BRF'.

Since we all know Harry's wife will never agree to such a thing, Harry would have to jettison her and do these things on his own behalf if he were to be accepted back. Even then I would suggest keeping him on the periphery as a non-working family member maybe permanently. He's landed himself in Uncle Andrew territory though for different reasons.

Harry and Charles are not the only consideration. There is a new Prince of Wales. Recall what his first private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton recently remarked about William:

"His sort of moral compass is set absolutely rigidly due north. He has the clearest understanding of almost anybody I know of what is right and what is wrong and he won't waiver from it, even if it means he's going to take a hit."

Harry has seriously waivered. William will not, nor will he forget that Harry has. Say Harry does at some point get himself straightened out, William would welcome his brother's return to sanity but he cannnot and will not be able to trust him again.

At Balmoral following QEII's passing, the king and the future prince of wales (at that time) were planning ahead..."making sure the [monarchy] was protected" you might say. The monarchy which Harry decided years ago he wanted no part of and has placed himself in opposition to. Part of the plan is to utilize what Richard Kay once called William's "steeliness".

Willliam outlined his personal priorities in his statement on the Queen's death. Part of his assignment as Prince of Wales was outlined in the new King's first address.

Sounds like the plan is for William to be more of the King's primary ambassador rather than taking a hand in the actual running of monarchy. The eyes/ears of the King among people, his Eleanor Roosevelt so to speak.

Granny is no longer here to be hurt by you, Hazbeen. You may look for...expect even...your opportunities to use your erstwhile royal connection to be increasingly limited in future. Obviously.

The rest of the Queen's family have each other's back and have no room for one who stabs family in the back.

I remember when I used to sit on hospital beds and hold people's hands, people used to be sort of shocked because they said they'd never seen this before, and to me it was quite a normal thing to do. And when I saw the reassurance that an action like that gave, I did it everywhere, and will always do that.

15h chiều 17/4, Thái tử Charles cùng các em và con cháu của hoàng gia tiễn đưa Hoàng thân Philip, người qua đời sáng 9/4, về nhà nguyện St George ở Lâu đài Windsor. Trong ảnh, Thái tử Charles và Công chúa Anne đứng sau khi linh cữu Hoàng thân được chuyển từ nhà nguyện riêng lên xe tang.

Thái tử Charles, Công chúa Anne, Hoàng tử Andrew, Hoàng tử Edward, Hoàng tử Willliam, Hoàng tử Harry, Peter Phillips, Phó đô đốc Timothy Laurence và Bá tước xứ Snowdon đi bộ theo sau xe tang. Xe tang được chính Hoàng thân khi còn sống đã dành 16 năm hợp tác với công ty Land Rover thiết kế, chuẩn bị trước cho lễ tang này.

Người đứng đầu trong danh sách thừa kế ngai vàng gương mặt trĩu nặng và đã không kiềm được sự xúc động khi tiễn đưa cha trong hành trình cuối cùng. Những bức ảnh được chụp lại cho thấy nước mắt lăn dài trên má ông.

Trước đó, phát biểu trước truyền thông ngay sau khi cha mất, Charles gọi Philip là "Papa thân yêu" và là một "người rất đặc biệt". Theo Thái tử 72 tuổi, cha đã dành sự phục vụ tận tụy, trung thành nhất cho Nữ hoàng, Hoàng gia và đất nước cũng như Khối thịnh vượng chung. Thân vương xứ Wales cũng chia sẻ sẽ nhớ cha mình "rất nhiều".

Kể từ sau khi Hoàng thân Philip rút khỏi các nhiệm vụ hoàng gia hồi năm 2017, Thái tử Charles là người đồng hành cùng Nữ hoàng Anh trong hầu hết các hoạt động và được cho là đang trong giai đoạn chuyển giao để chuẩn bị cho việc thừa kế ngai vàng.

Linh cữu Hoàng thân được phủ cờ, trên linh cữu có đặt chiếc mũ và thanh kiếm của ông.

Khi linh cữu được các binh sĩ đưa vào bên trong nhà nguyện St George, Thái tử và các thành viên trong đám rước đeo khẩu trang đen để tuân thủ quy tắc phòng chống dịch. Ông chăm chú nhìn quan tài không rời.

Thái tử Charles sau đó đi về ngồi cạnh vợ mình, nữ Công tước xứ Cornwall Camilla. Sau khi Tổng giám mục Canterbury đọc điếu văn và cầu nguyện cho Hoàng thân Philip, linh cữu được hạ xuống hầm mộ của Hoàng gia Anh bên dưới nhà nguyện St George, tuy nhiên đây sẽ không phải là nơi an nghỉ cuối cùng của ông. Sau khi Nữ hoàng qua đời, thi hài Hoàng thân sẽ được chuyển đến Nhà nguyện tưởng niệm Vua George VI để nằm cạnh bà. Okay, I’m gonna try and move through this in chronological order lmao (”try” being the operative word)

Charles Mohun, Baron Mohun. He’s the reason duelling with swords became outlawed and the reason that duelling with pistols rose in popularity (spoiler: he died a fucking grisly death)

Louis XV of France, and I chose this portrait rather than one of his more regal ones because it’s super cute to be honest, and showcases how handsome he was. Might have been a bit useless as a monarch but ah well. His eyelashes make up for it.

Alexander Pope. He was a little arsehole but cute alas.

Count Valerian Zubov. His brother, Platon, was one of Catherine the Great’s lovers but I think Valerian is cuter.
