Early into my music podcasting days, I was hit up by the publicist for Faith and the Muse. She offered me two copies of the : Ankoku Butoh : CD/DVD package. One was for my own use (She also granted permission for me to play their music on the show) and the other was to offer as a give-away prize to a listener. Faith and the Muse was one of only a handful of bands of which I knew I had converted people into fans. The Birthday Massacre is another -- oh, and recently I might have turned someone on to Switchblade Symphony. : Ankoku Butoh : finds the darkwave/pagan rock band adopting an Eastern flavor. For one, William Faith (ex-Christian Death) plays taiko drums. Lyrically, Monica Richards sings about aspects of Asian culture, particularly in Battle Hymn wherein she calls upon the four guardians. Those guardians are the Blue Dragon, White Tigger, Red Phoenix, and Black Tortoise. Each depicts the spirit of a direction on the compass, likely inspired by the climate and terrain.

He fights on my side. Which is more than I can say for some of us.

the thing about spike is that he's such a rat man, such a pathetic, horrible freak, but james marsters is so charismatic that even when he's at his worst, he's got something interesting to him, and then of course at some point spike's development is such that he'll say things like "made a promise to a lady" in order to explain why he's helping the good guys at high risk of death and it's so very casually heroic and chivalrous, and he'll collapse to the ground and sob into his hands when buffy dies, and you can see how that was there the whole time, but twisted by all his anger and a lifetime with drusilla (who herself was twisted into her shape by angel), so you just can't help but root for him to become a hero of some kind
