A Taste of Heaven, part 1:
“What Happens in the After”
A HellCheer Fic
Eddie x Chrissy
Summary: Eddie meets Chrissy in the afterlife, where they confess their adoration for each other and make love in a field of flowers.
40% light smut
Eddie opened his eyes into a white brightness. He stood in a field of wildflowers reaching as far as his still-adjusting eyes could see. An overwhelming sense of love and welcoming surrounded him.
Is this real? He thought, his mind flashing to his last memory—pain. Dustin sobbing over him as he choked on his own blood. The red, demonic other sky flashed grimly far above.
No way, I’m dead. He resolved.
He began to walk through the flowers. Some were colors he had never seen before. The air was filled with a lovely floral aroma, birds sang, and Eddie Munson sighed a heavy sigh. A willow tree had appeared as he walked, he greeted it and collapsed beneath it. He looked at his hands. They were healed here; porcelain and unscabbed. He rested his back against the tree. “I hope the others made it.” He whispered. A tear rolled down his cheek as he put his head in his hands. He cried for a while. He grieved his future, coming to terms with his fate. He grieved for the Hellfire kids who were still suffering.
And he grieved Chrissy. “FUCK!” He screamed into the stillness. Fuck, did he hold guilt for her. He knew something was seriously off with her when she had come to meet him behind the football field. Eddie would never admit it in life, but he always had a deep, oozing and rather disgusting soft spot for that girl. They had known each other since kindergarten and shared many classes over the years, and Eddie had always loved seeing that sweet sunshine face, even if she never noticed him. After all this time, he still couldn’t seem to help but be swept away by her ringing laugh, by her pixie like features and ever gentle demeanor she displayed toward every one of her friends. Its why he hadn’t been hurt when she first had said she didn’t remember past interactions with him. It’s why he had teased her the day they met up; first, to make her feel better, but also to see that bewildered expression, then to see her eyes light up in mock defense. When he said he thought her cheer routine was “pretty cool”, he more than meant it. If he were being honest, he could have watched her wiggle those hips for centuries. He had just pushed those feelings down. Way, way down. Because she was the queen of Hawkins High. There was no way she would have ever spoken to him, let alone gone out with him, so Eddie had squashed those feelings behind his grand bravado. He couldn’t be hurt if he never gave himself the opportunity, but it never hurt to admire her from afar and imagine what he wanted to do for her…and to her…
Eddie reminisced on their encounter in the woods. He could tell she was upset and afraid. Of course he assumed she had just argued with her dickhead boyfriend, or maybe something happened at home, another reason why he had been exceedingly gentle with her that day. At the time, Eddie felt he could probably relate to her pain, as if his own family was any walk in the park. He chuckled grimly at the thought. If only the cause of her distress had been something so trivial, so normal... After Chrissy’s attack, he kept replaying the days she passed him in the hall, or the times he’d accidentally stared at her across the cafeteria, in the gym, during their classes... He would imagine himself stopping her in her tracks to ask to take her to the movies. He imagined pushing her man-hunk out of the way, knocking him out if he had to. They’d see a horror movie preferably, but he would have sat through anything with her beside him. He imagined confronting her there, back at that picnic table, about her visions. He tortured himself with the possibility of taking her to Hellfire club, telling Dustin and the gang immediately and finding a way to save her. Maybe they could have called Eleven. So many alternate endings. If only he would have confronted her sooner. If only he could have asked her her favorite song, saved her life. If only he hadn’t run away… oh, Chrissy….his breath caught in his throat as he attempted to sigh deeply.
Then, a voice cut through the blissful silence like a bell. “You called?” It trilled. Eddie lifted his head. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
An angel floated toward him in the sunlight. “It can’t be…” he whispered.
“Why not?” She said, beaming as she knelt before him. “After all we’ve been through, this is what you don’t believe?” She chuckled, brushing his hair aside to lay her sweet little hand on his cheek. Her face was inches from his. He breathed in her sweet scent.
“Chrissy…I’m so sorry.” Eddie’s voice broke. He grabbed her shoulders.
Her golden hair fell over his hands as she shook her head. She moved her hand from his cheek to his lips and placed a finger there. “No. Please don’t be. Eddie, you saved me. I’m the one who should be sorry. Everyone blamed you for what happened to me. But you were my hero.” She whispered, her arms wrapping around his neck, as if they belonged there, as if she couldn’t help herself. She drew her body in close to his until she was sitting on his lap. She wrapped her legs around him. She whispered the words again, “you are my hero” and her voice broke this time. Her hands wound tightly in his hair as she began to cry.
Eddie was overwhelmed by her presence. Inside he was reeling. She was here. Really here in front of him—touching him. How could this be real? His mind was dancing like wildfire. This was the closest she had ever been, and he still wasn’t convinced this wasn’t a dream, but he wasn’t about to question it. He desperately wrapped one arm all the way around her waist and one in her hair, holding her as close as he could as she sobbed. Tears streamed down his face, too. “Everything…every single thing I did, Chrissy, it was all for you.”
Chrissy cried for a long time as he gently rocked her back and forth. The gravity of their circumstance hung in the air. How their lives were destined to intertwine in such a fucked up way. They were meant to end up here, together.
Eddie shuddered away from his last few living memories. “God, what shit ways to go, right?” He tried to smile, but only one corner of his mouth lifted. “Talk about a tragic ending.”
Chrissy sniffled and pulled away to look Eddie in the eyes. “I don’t want that to be the ending,” she shrugged.
Eddie gently lay his hand on her shoulder, thoughtfully moving up her neck and jaw, wiping away the tears on her cheek. He looked around. “Maybe…maybe it doesn’t have to be?” Squinting, he spoke tentatively, afraid that his words would make this dream world fall to pieces.
“You know, I was thinking the same thing?” Chrissy looked back up at him. “I almost don’t want to say it, but what if this is our chance at a new beginning…? I mean, how, and why, are we here?” She breathed deeply, staring at him fervently.
Eddie thought for a moment before he answered her. “Well, if I had to guess,” he cupped her face in both of his hands. God, he never thought he would have the chance to do this. “Not to be incredibly cheesey, but I’d wager that you’re my heaven.” He closed his eyes, afraid to see her reaction to his words. “The real question is, why are you here?” He whispered, opening one eye to squint at her. Her delicate fingers lifted his chin and she smiled a small smile.
“Eddie…I was so blind.” She whispered. Eddie opened both eyes into her blue ones. “I should have come to you sooner, should have known that I could trust you. I’m so embarrassed I forgot about the talent show. I can’t believe I ever thought you were…scary” She twirled a piece of his hair between her fingers as she smiled a half smile. “I surrounded myself with these…empty people” she cringed away from the thought of them. “Who never would have believed me, let alone helped me.” She placed her forehead against his. “I had no idea what was happening, Eddie, and neither did you.” She whispered, “But you never gave up. Even when the whole town turned against you.” Eddie held in a laugh and lay his head on her shoulder, shaking it as it rested there. “And, fuck them, right?!” She smacked his shoulder with her open palm as she said the words. They both laughed, then looked back at each other earnestly.
Eddie smiled as he paused, “you are real, right? I’m still not convinced.” He pinched her arm playfully, Chrissy exclaimed and giggled and their heads touched again.
“I think I am, are you?” She scrunched her nose and stabbed him in the ribs.
They collapsed into a tickle fight of laughter. As the smiles subsided, Chrissy offered a sigh. “I’m so sorry I let this happen to you, Eddie. It’s my fault and I’m so sorry. You had so much going for you…” Chrissy shook her head, and Eddie caught her chin in his hand as she did.
“Chrissy, you have nothing to be sorry for. Don’t you dare apologize to me.” He delivered the words huskily. “Besides, what did I really have going for me anyway…?” He smiled, trying to break the tension, but as he looked back at her, he saw that it wasn’t the right time.
Chrissy looked into his eyes. “Let me finish,” she said seriously. “I’ve been calling for you this entire time. I’ve been so lost, Eddie,” she choked, “reflecting on my life, searching for a spec of something real…” she touched his face softly. “You were the only real thing in my life, Eddie Munson. And I didn’t even get to know you,” She huffed. “You’re the only thing that’s real now. And I don’t think this is your heaven,” she drew him into her, her lips grazing his ear. “It’s mine,” she breathed, kissing his neck.
Eddie’s eyes rolled into his skull. He couldn’t believe his senses; really any of them—what he was hearing, what he was feeling. His entire body seemed to be glowing. “Now I know you’re not real,” he said as he ran his hands through her hair. “In what world does the freak win the queen?”
She ground her hips against him, her hands reaching up his neck and tangling in the base of his hair. “In the world where he saves her.” She murmured.
His heart felt like it could explode. He pulled Chrissy’s hair away from her neck in a handful, his other hand sliding to her thigh. “I—I wish I would have told you sooner…” His animal instincts were kicking in now as he kissed up her shoulder and neck. He nibbled gently on her tissue paper skin, and as he did her back arched slightly, she let out a small stifled moan. That was it for Eddie, he couldn’t control himself any longer. He held the back of her head and slowly brought her mouth to his. They paused for a moment, a centimeter apart breathing each others air. Electricity radiated between them. They kissed passionately, building a smoldering fire beneath their skin. Chrissy parted her lips and their tongues met, they both moaned as they tasted one another for the first time. Eddie’s tongue explored her mouth, his tongue grazing her teeth. She shivered in delight, throwing one arm roughly over his back, tugging at his shirt. The other hand meeting his torso. She lifted his shirt, memorizing his hip and lower back with her fingers.
Eddie’s cock throbbed in his jeans. His body was electrified by every touch. Her breath in his ear was ragged now as she clung to him. This was all happening too fast and yet not fast enough. Eddie kissed her deeply then turned back to her exposed neck. He kissed her skin, sucking gently, then he opened his mouth and bit her harder as his hands worked up her shirt. She gasped as his teeth sunk into her, and giggled at the intensity of the sensation. Eddie unclasped her bra easily with one hand. He reached up with the other and gently held her breast. She sighed as he traced between her shoulder blades with the other hand. They pulled away, he looked into her doe like expression as he slowly lifted her shirt above her head. Chrissy sat for a moment with her arms covering her chest, legs still wrapped around his waist, before reaching down to Eddie’s hemline to lift his off as well. Chrissy placed her hands on his chest, then reached his shoulder blades and pulled him back to her. She whimpered desperately as his skin warmed hers. He held the small of her back, keeping her securely against him. Chrissy traced his flexed bicep, he was stronger than she expected. She felt like her skeleton would vibrate out of her skin at any moment, and she hoped Eddie couldn’t tell exactly how much her body was begging for his.
Eddie leaned into Chrissy, pushing her backwards into the grass. She smiled up at him, her eyes filled with wonder. “God, Chrissy, you are so beautiful…” he kissed her forehead and down her chest. “I’m only just restraining myself from making the worst metaphors about angels in heaven.” He said the words between kisses. She squirmed and giggled as his teeth and tongue teased her nipple. His hands found her hips and he squeezed.
Chrissy moaned loudly, sending a shiver through Eddie. She reached his belt and quickly unbuckled it. They kissed again, Chrissy’s tongue tracing Eddie’s bottom lip. She reached into his boxers and grasped his dick. Eddie moaned into her mouth, which sparked her to move faster. She pulled on his belt loops, lowering his jeans. That’s when Eddie stopped Chrissy’s hand. “Hey, whoa,” he pulled away slightly, breathing heavily.
Chrissy paused. “I’m sorry, did I do something wrong?”
She looked so concerned Eddie couldn’t help but smile. “No, no, not at all. I’ve uh” he chuckled and shook his head. “I’ve wanted this for so long. Really, an embarrassingly long time,” Chrissy smiled and curled a tendril of his hair around her finger. “I just…are you sure? I know I’m not—“ Chrissy cut him off with a kiss. She pulled him back down onto her.
“You are everything I’ve ever wanted,” she whispered, her breath sending chills through him. He closed his eyes to let her words hang in his mind. He let out his breath as her hands again began taking in the landscape of his back.
“And you are my dream, Chrissy Cunningham.” He murmured. He reached for her thigh, sliding his hand up underneath her skirt, feeling her butt and hips before he ran his fingers along her panty line. He stroked up her pussy outside her panties, groaning as he felt the wetness there. Eddie was barely able to hold back his hunger for her. He wanted to tear her apart, but this needed to be done slowly. He circled her clit with his fingers, pulling away from their kiss to see her reaction as he did. Lips parted, Chrissy closed her eyes. She panted as his fingers quickly and gently slipped beneath her panties. He dragged his fingers along her clit before he slowly reached into her pussy. Chrissy gasped, back arching as he began working on her clit. They both moaned as Chrissy slipped closer to paradise and Eddie just couldn’t hold it back. Seeing her this way—being the reason she felt this way—was almost too much to bare.
