ok just a list of even more questions re: Ruidus and its creation and society and basically everything

How much of the creation myths are true? Are bormodos descended from dwarves or halflings or something, or were they drastically changed by Predathos, or something in between? Were cytaa lizardfolk once?

Similarly are Reilora entirely of Predathos or do they have an Exandrian counterpart?

Absolutely fucking wild guess here that's almost certainly wrong but also this took place in the Founding and we don't even know how long the Age of Arcanum was; are bormodos and cytaa and reilora somehow truer to what Exandria was at the time, a la how the North American English accent is arguably closer to the 1600s British English Accent than many modern British accents are?

(my planetary science knowledge is limited and I respect if Matt "oh shit forgot about the polar day/night cycle in the summer in the arctic" Mercer decides to handwave that because frankly you can just say Magic! but why does Ruidus have similar gravity to the much larger Exandria as well as a seemingly comparable atmosphere)

How much of the "design" claimed in the Imperium's religion is in fact deliberate and how much is simply claimed? Are flares purposeful or involuntary? Are they made by Predathos or by the Weave Mind or by Ludinus's bullshit at this point?

Not a question so much as an observation but given that traditionally psionics are INT based in D&D and the Vanguard is sorcerers this explains a whole lot about how dysfunctional it is as an organization: in keeping with the sorcerer theme, it's the most "dish it out but can't take it" group of people that ever existed. You could DEVASTATE these CHA-based fools with a well-placed Synaptic Static, psychic resistance or no.

Did Otohan discover the method by which one became Exaltant via her experiences in the war? This would explain a lot and be literally by far the most interesting thing about her.

Literally though how would one of the Vanguard members who joined due to religious trauma respond to being taken to The Religious Trauma Capital? Are they all going to turn around and be like "well now I'm the one in power, so it's okay" (which is not uncommon as a response irl and would be fascinating to unpack) or are some of them going to turn upon realizing they're just trading one religion for another?

How long ago did the Vanguard and Imperium begin collaborating? For that matter, when did Ludinus specifically get involved given that only Exaltants could do anything with Reilora prior to the solstice?

The most recent Reilora Imogen summoned was not of the Imperium, but Kadija noted that the kinder Reilora Exaltants met in their dreams were sometimes replaced by more aggressive Reilora. Is it a crapshoot whether she summons a Reilora friendly to her cause or unfriendly? Is this also true of the Vanguard Exaltants?

So I've been reading the Expanse novel series and jotting random reactions in this post, basically all comparisons between novels and the show, and now that I'm nearing the halfway point of the third book and the differences are getting more expansive (*rimshot*) my blather will also get more expansive, hence: new post.

[Disclaimer: this is all rooted in my opinions and preferences; I'm not suggesting my interpretation is *the* interpretation. Just wanted to say that now in case my language reflects otherwise]

The thing I keep coming back to now are the differences between the Holden of the show and the Holden of the novels. In the show, Holden reminds me of the Refusing The Call trope, but almost in the reverse - he's the main hero in the narrative sense (protagonist), but he's also that in the non-narrative sense. And while he has no interest in being a Hero with a capital-H, he has no qualms about doing heroic things, though to him they're not heroism but necessity, something born out of a sense of responsibility, wherever that sense may come from.

He isn't refusing the call so much as he never picked up the phone in the first place, but now he's found himself in a position of unintended celebrity, one that never names him as a hero but which is suggestive of the title, and which he doesn't care for outside of times it becomes useful for him to keep the things he cares about safe: his ship, his crew/family, and sometimes humanity as a whole (less personal investment in specific things, more value-based investment in doing what's right/just/kind).

This is a dude who just wants to live his damn life, but shit keeps going wrong around him and he's not someone who has it in him to stand aside and let it happen, so off he goes, running into danger, making This Is James Holden broadcasts, trying to solve one mystery or another. He wants to just be Some Guy, but being the way he is, caring about the things he does, prevents that. This gets 'textually' shown by the instances where people say he's special, or when he asks Proto-Miller why he's special, and so on.

In contrast, the novels seem more committed to the Some Guy aspect of his character. He does heroic things, but the heroism isn't so stand-out. His military experience comes to the fore more, skill-set wise: something born more of training than above-average ability. People other than him figure things out or come up with the creative solutions at times when the Holden from the show was the one to do it.

For example, the revelation of the speed-limit in the Ring: in the show we see him recognize what Proto-Miller is when he asks Monica about how things like hopes and fears can manifest, asking to see the footage of the Belter who's death activated it then footage of himself and saw that Miller appeared at the same time. He understands he needs to engage Miller to get answers. He does this in particular when the fake broadcast of him taking credit for blowing that ship puts the Rocinante in danger, isolating himself on purpose to do it, finding the right words that will get Miller to cooperate, then interpreting their meaning (the need to go in slowly) which births the plan to go into the Ring.

We even see a moment that shows how the crew dynamic has evolved: Amos' concern for his welfare, then two instances of showing trust that didn't exist before (when Holden explicitly asks for it, and again when Holden says he knows they need to go into the ring in this specific way and Amos backs him up).

Then we get to see the reverse: when Holden says they need to get the comms back up, emphasizes its importance, then looks at Amos, we see him trusting Amos in a way he very much didn't in the first season - trusting Amos to do what's needed without crossing any lines he doesn't have to. Even when Holden finds out later that Amos sent Cohen and Monica off the ship and Alex points out how Amos was less-than-gentle about it, instead of getting anrgy or making assumptions of violent intent, Holden just expressed an almost light-hearted preference that Amos check in with him first next time, which gets a 'sorry' from Amos, and then they move on. I really loved that, honestly.

Overall, I get the impression that the Holden in the show is more...clever, maybe. He doesn't have the kind of smarts Naomi does, but he's their ace when it comes to tactical thinking, and I don't mean in the military sense. Maybe not so much strategy with not always looking at the long term implications of some of his actions, but that could also boil down to his values: people are in danger right now, and he's going to do what he must to protect them and reduce harm to others in general. He's the optimist, as Avasarala says. He's lucky to have survived everything, as he himself says, because his own survival isn't the priority - he's the captain, his job is to keep his crew safe, and if 'crew' sometimes includes everyone in the vicinity (or everyone in general), well, then it does.

But the point is that the role he plays is bigger, and his ability to think on his feet, to be a good captain, to show compassion, to be *heroic* are more vital to events. The Holden of the novels does have a part in propelling the narrative along; of course he does, because he's a protagonist, and that's what a protagonist does. But the Holden of the show is much more core to that, at least in my opinion; that he's following 'the hero's journey', as Joseph Cambell named it, more obviously, even profoundly.

And as the show progresses, he slowly starts falling into the hero role ass backwards less and choosing it deliberately more, even if his disinterest in being defined as a leader on a bigger scale - Leader with a capital L - doesn't change. What happens at the end of the show is a great example of this: he doesn't want the president job, but everyone wants him to take it, and then we see that he only took it so he could make sure the person who *should* have been given that job (Drummer) gets it, because he knows that's what will pave the way towards social justice for the people of the Belt - something that we learned matters to him from near the beginning of the show (telling the interrogator why he punched a superior officer, thus leading to his dishonorable discharge, with his line about inner planets stepping on Belter necks and not wanting to be the boot). I got the impression that the Holden of the show might be more invested in the concept of justice, specifically social justice (as opposed to punative), than the Holden of the books.

It all adds up to a character that's more pointedly Heroic than his novel counterpart. Which is understandable: character dymanics in films and television generally call for that by dint of differences how the medium itself affect characterization and story. What is compelling on the page and compelling on the screen are defined in part by the format, in a number of different ways. What I'll be interested to see is how those differences continue to manifest, particularly when it comes to both characterization and character dynamics.

And, I can admit, I like a capital-H Hero. I liked seeing Holden being that clever, being that much more invested in his values, being that much more vital to events. Does that mean I like the Holden in the show more than the one in the books? Honestly, I think it's way too soon to say, same for the other characters.

But I can say I really miss Drummer.

Aggressive Negotiations Episode 2: Old Friends

Hello!!! It’s been a little bit and due to some personal issues I haven’t been able to write, so I’m not sure how good this part is, but I still wanted to post something!

“Padme! It’s been so long, how have you been?”

“Satine!”

*the two friends hug briefly*

“This is a lovely gathering. I’m having a wonderful time.”

“Oh, good, I’m very glad.”

*padme realizes Anakin is still standing awkwardly next to her*

“Oh! I’m sorry. Satine, I’m sure you remember Jedi Knight Skywalker.”

“Indeed. Hello Anakin.”

“Nice to see you. If I would’ve known the Duchess of Mandalore was coming, I would’ve made sure my Master was here too. It’s very unprofessional of us, I apologize.”

*he said this with a smirk and you just KNOW he’s stirring the pot*

“Hmmm, yes, I would’ve enjoyed seeing him as well.”

*int. With Anakin*

“I know you want to ask me so yes, I have a plan!”

You have a plan?

“Have you ever seen the parent trap?

Yeah…

“Well, Obi-Wan and Satine are the two parents and I am both the children. Or, maybe Ahsoka can be the other one. That’s not relevant. Anyway, now that I know Satine is here, I need to get her and Obi-Wan back together. Operation Parent Trap is a go!”

Is there a reason for this plan?

“Look, I love Obi-Wan. He’s like an older brother. Perhaps a father figure. In another lifetime, we may have even been lovers. In short, I want him to be happy. I know he loves the Jedi Order, but I also know he still loves Satine. I’m gonna have to get Padme and Ahsoka in on this.”

*back to the scene*

“Yeah, maybe you can leave with us later and we can all hang out.”

“Perhaps. Well, Padme, I’ll certainly be back around to speak more with you, but I must go speak to some more people to sway their vote.”

“Of course. See you soon!”

*she turns back to Anakin in a yell-whisper*

“What do you mean his girlfriend?!?!?”

“I would love to tell you now, but I don’t exactly think it would be appropriate to tell all the senators and the Chancellor about Obi-Wan’s past, maybe current secret relationship.”

“Okay. Good point. But you’re spilling it all the second we get home!”

“Definitely.”

*int. With Padme*

“I cannot believe this! Look, I’ve known Obi-Wan for a long time, and since Anakin is his Padawan I know him very well. So Anakin telling me that Obi-Wan, The Jedi Master Golden Boy, the most perfect Jedi there ever was, BROKE THE RULES for love and attachment is utterly unbelievable. I mean, this whole time Anakin and I have been hiding and sneaking around when Obi-Wan has been doing this for years?!?! I’m speechless.”

*intro and title card*

“You know, you should try to set Satine up with someone next time she’s over here.”

“What good would that do? I thought you wanted her and Obi-Wan to get back together.”

“I do. But everyone thinks she’s single, so we have to keep up that ruse. If you offer to set her up with someone, she’ll have to make up insane excuses and that will prove she’s not over Obi-Wan!”

“I don’t know, Ani. Seems a bit manipulative of our friends. It feels wrong.”

“Nonsense. The manipulation of our friends is for their benefit, so it’s fine.”

“Okay, fine. But I’m only doing this because I still don’t fully believe you that Obi-Wan was ever secretly in love with someone!”

“That’s fine, cause by the end of the night you’ll believe it.”

*they split off. Padme seeks out satine and Anakin stays by the snack table to watch this all unfold. Also, the cocktail weenies. Luckily for Padme, satine is leaning against a wall near a window looking outside and she’s alone.*

“Enjoying the view?”

“Ah, yes. I’ve always loved looking over Coruscant at night. It’s beautiful. Every time I’m here I end up looking out at the night sky longingly.”

*int with Padme*

“Okay, so she’s clearly been here many times. I only know of a few official times that she’s been here for political business, so she’s definitely been here for personal reasons.”

*back to the scene*

“I agree. It’s a pleasure to get to live here. Although Mandalore is gorgeous as well.”

“Indeed.”

“So, you know Anakin already?”

“Oh, yes. Last time I was here, Obi,…….Wan Kenobi introduced us. He’s a very interesting man. He and his master seem to care about each other greatly though.”

“Yes they do indeed. They get in each other’s hair from time to time but they are very close.”

“It seems like you’re very close to him too, no?”

“Yeah, I met Anakin when we were children, and we’ve been friends ever since. In fact,

*she pulls out her necklace revealing it to be the one we all know from the phantom menace*

“he made me this when he was nine.”

“Hmm, friends? It seems as if it’s more than that. How long have you been together?”

“Oh! No! Uh, no we’re not-it’s not….I’m single actually. Not interested in anyone. And he’s a Jedi, so….”

“So they can’t love. No attachments. Trust me, I know. Although, that’s never stopped anyone from breaking those rules, hmm?”

“I suppose so, but no, I’m not currently seeing anyone. How about you? Any secret Jedi lovers?”

*satine coughs and chokes on her drink at that making Padme smirk evilly*

“Oh, no! No, definitely not. In fact, I’m not seeing anyone either. Not interested. Completely content by myself. In fact, I haven’t been with someone since I was nineteen.”

“That many years by yourself! What do you say I set you up with someone? I know some great people.”

“Oh, no, I think I’ll pass, Padme.”

“Aw, come on! It’ll be fun.”

“Perhaps we could go on a double date then?”

“What?”

*int with satine*

“I know Padme and Anakin are together. There’s no way she’ll agree to going on a double first date with me because she’s already seeing Anakin. Therefore I won’t have to go either.”

Is there a reason that you don’t want to go?

“.......that’s unimportant.”

*back to the scene*

“Oh, you know, if you’re going to set me up with someone, I might as well do the same for you! So what do you say? We’re both single, we could both go on a date, yes?”

*panic is clear on Padme’s face. We switch to an int. with Padme*

“What the hell is she doing?!?!? If I don’t accept, then it looks like I’m hiding something! If I do accept, then I’ll have to go on a date! And not with my husband! But we need to get to the bottom of this!”

*back to the scene*

“Of course! Sounds like a fun time!”

*int. with satine*

“....Haar'chak.”

*back to scene*

“Great! Luckily I’m here on Coruscant for the rest of the week! Just let me know when!”

“Will do! See you later, Satine!”

*padme walks back over to Anakin*

“So?”

“So I have good news and bad news.”

“What’s the good news?”

“Good news is that you’re totally right. She’s hiding something. Bad news is that she agreed to go on the date, so now I do have to set her up with someone.”

“Alright, that’s not so bad-“

“There’s worse news.”

“...what happened?”

“She definitely knows we’re together and in order to prove it she suggested setting me up with someone too on a double first date! She was trying to get me to say no to spill the details of our relationship!”

“Okay, but you did say no, right?”

*padme looks down at the floor away from Anakin*

“Right???”

“I had to say yes! I’m sorry! I wasn’t going to expose us and get you expelled!”

*anakin sighs*

“Okay. Okay fine. But tomorrow, you, Ahsoka, and I are getting to the bottom of this and making a plan.”

*we switch now to obi-wan Kenobi. He is exiting a Jedi council meeting when suddenly he stops and closes his eyes. He senses something.*

“Master Kenobi, are you alright?”

“Oh, uh, yes, Master Windu, I’m quite alright.”

“An imbalance in the force, did you feel?”

“Something like that. I just need some rest. I’m off to my quarters now.”

*int. with obi wan*

“I swear I felt her through the force. I haven’t felt it since the Coronet. I must be going crazy. I really do need some rest.”

*he leaves the interview before anyone can inform him that satine is indeed here. we are now back at Anakin and padme’s apartment, the day after the senator gathering. On the couch is Padme and ahsoka. Anakin is standing a few feet away next to a whiteboard with his back turned to them both as he’s writing something down.*

“Padme, what in the galaxy is he up to?”

*before Padme can answer Anakin turns around and interrupts*

“I’m so glad you asked, Snips!”

“What is that????”

*she points to anakin’s torso, more specifically at his shirt. He somehow had time to customize a black t shirt in less than a day’s time.*

“Ah! So you like my shirt!”

“Like isn’t the word I was going to-“

“I’m glad you do! Because you get one too! And so do you, Senator.”

*he smirks and tosses them both the same black t shirt that he’s wearing*

“What the heck is an Obitine? And why are we on its team?”

*anakin steps to the side to reveal the whiteboard. At the top in capital letters it says OPERATION PARENT TRAP: OBITINE EDITION. On his shirt in big white letters is TEAM OBITINE*

“That, my Padawan, is a mashup of Obi-Wan and Satine’s names.”

“But why?”

“Cause they’re in love, Snips. Must I spell this all out for you!”

“Anakin, are you on death sticks? Cause it certainly seems like it. There’s no way Master Obi-Wan has attachments, let alone a lover.”

“I’m gonna prove it to you today. Look, even Padme is in on it.”

“That’s true. I didn’t believe him either until I talked to Satine last night. I attempted to set her up with someone since she claimed she was single, but now we’re stuck because she also called me out on being single. Now there’s going to be a double first date that we need to plan for.”

“Wait a minute, you’re not single??”

*anakin and Padme give each other the ‘oh shit look’*

*int with Anakin and Padme*

“I really shouldn’t have let that slip.”

“Great. Now we have to not only get you a fake date for a day but now we have to get you a fake date for forever!”

Or you could just, tell ahsoka you guys are together, right?

*in sync* “NO!”

“Who knows who she’ll tell! Too many people already know!”

“Wait a minute. What do you mean too many people know? Who knows other than us?”

“Well other than me and you, I’m 90% sure Obi-Wan does, Satine definitely does, I guarantee that Rex knows by now and maybe more of the 501st and probably Cody too. And Ahsoka might too! Plus Artoo and Threepio if you count them.”

“Oh, for Force sake, Anakin.”

“I’m not the one who told Ahsoka I was seeing someone!”

“I’m sorry! We’ll just keep it super secret and not tell her much. It’ll be fiiiine.”

*back to the scene*

“Well, yes, Ahsoka, I am, but it’s very secret and not super official, so I don’t really tell anyone. I do trust you though, so I’m sure you won’t tell anyone, yes?”

“Oh, of course Padme! No problem. So, we have to find you a fake date since you can’t take your real one and we have to find a fake date for Satine?”

“Well, my date is up to Satine, but otherwise yes.”

“Great. Let’s do this!”

“Glad you’re on board, Snips. But first, we really have to figure out whatever the hell is going on between Obi-Wan and Satine.”

*he writes and draws on the board*

“Ta da!”

“Is that supposed to be Obi-Wan and Satine?”

“Yes. It’s obvious. These are great drawings. Anyway. What do we know about their relationship is the question. Anyone wanna contribute first?”

“Well, last night, she definitely slipped up and called him ‘Obi.’ She casually said Obi, realized it, and then slipped in ‘Wan Kenobi.’”

“Calls him Obi! Great!”

*he writes that down on the board*

“Oh! And she’s definitely been to Coruscant on her own personal business before. Like, many times.”

“Thank you for your contribution, Padme. Now, since I’m his former Padawan and best friend, I know a lot more about their past. Sadly not a lot but at least more than you guys do.”

“Yeah, which is why I’m confused as to why I’m here.”

“Because you have to understand everything so that you can be in on this plan, my impatient Padawan. Here’s what I know. I know that when they were both nineteen, they were on the run together on a mission that the Jedi Council assigned Obi-Wan and his master Qui Gon. I also know that something happened between them during that year, I just know it. Obi-Wan hinted at it and assured me it was ‘all in the past,’ but that’s definitely a lie. I mean, they were nineteen, on the run, and had to keep everything a secret. Nothing’s more romantic than that.”

*he writes this down as he speaks*

*ahsoka gives the camera a look like ??? as Anakin winks at Padme who rolls her eyes*

*int with ahsoka*

“Did he just….?? Did Anakin?? Did he just wink at the Senator???? Is he really flirting with Padme while talking about Obi-Wan’s relationship??? He really needs to get over this crush.”

*back to the scene*

“Aaannnyway. Yeah. Something happened during that year.”

“Wait, Ani, did you say they were both 19 during that time?”

“Uh, yeah, why?”

“Satine told me last night that she hadn’t been in a relationship since she was 19 years old!”

“See Snips!!! See!!! I told you!!”

“Okay, you have a point there.”

“I have the best proof, though. Something I haven’t told anyone. Obi-Wan doesn’t know that I overheard him and Satine on the Coronet. Satine thought she was going to die. She told him that she’s always loved him. Obi-Wan was hesitant, but he told her that he would’ve left the Jedi Order if she would have asked him. He would’ve left the Jedi Order!!”

“Why didn’t you START wIth that?? That’s kriffing insane! Obi-Wan said that??? Our Obi-Wan.”

“That Obi-Wan, yes. You should’ve seen him before that. He was a nervous wreck. And he was flirting with her!”

“Alright, master. I’m on board. Operation Obitine is a go. Let’s do this!”

*switch to obi wan. he’s walking down a hallway in the senate building at night. No one else is there due to how late it is. He can’t sleep. He decides to go out onto a balcony that he’s particularly fond of to watch the chaos of Coruscant at night.*

“I should’ve known you’d be here. This is where we’d watch the sunrise whenever I was visiting.”

*he turns around*

“Satine??”

“I’ve missed you, Obi.”

When i was younger and + close minded, i didnt like tattos. Considere also that the ones I had saw in real life were the tribal ones, so there’s tgat. But then i grew up and started liking them (you can partially blame larry for that). Nobody in my family (cousins and so) has one, and thats kind of a encouragement, I’d love to piss them, but my dad has threaten me to disinherit me (we dont heven have that, lol) and i dont have any tatto on mind, so i wont do it… maybe in the future, yes. I MISS LOUIS TOO! I hope he is fine. Resting and so. Im sure that creating the album that will destroy us all takes a lot of effort. (Seriously, where is heeeee?). Heeey!! I wont get bored. Or mad! Oh, you’re telling me! My family bought me a bunch of 1D merch (unofficial all): the clinex, a hair brush, a bracelet, 2 books!, one perfume (this I love it, it smells so good), a make up box… I can’t even remember everything. Ah! A birthday card too!! Where they talk when you open it. I always use to wish happy birthday to people (the audio) 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I had to tell them to please stop wasting money on those things. I don’t even know where I have it. And if a can ask, I’d rather they give me the money so I can go to their concerts,jajajaja.EDIT: I can’t believe I forgot the poster!! I have it beside my head right now,jajaja, and I only realized it was there when I looked at the boys to ask for inspiration,😅😅)

Oh, my mom loves Niall’s album too. But I don’t think she “knows” any of the lyrics,jajaja. Though, she knows the hmmmm in This Town. But that’s all. She and my sister, both separately were like: “oh! who’s him??” When they heard Fire Away. And I was like: “ehhhhh, it’s Niall’s album, so guess who’s it?? What, you like it? See, Harry’s not the only one who can sing…” jajajajja. It’s because of comments like this, that they think I don’t like Harry. And I get so offended when they hint at it! Like, of course I like Harry. But I like all of them too!! God!! I love Niall’s album so much (I’m hearing it right now, bc I couldn’t remember what song was the one they liked it so much, and now I can’t stop 😅). Harry’s and Niall’s albums have been lining in my car since they were released. I had Harry’s playing in a loop till I got Niall’s one and I interchanged them. Then Harry’s came back a month or so before his concert. And now it’s time for Niall’s again. (You can’t imagine how hard it’s being writing this with honey laying on my arm!! Jajaja, I can’t barely move my fingers😅).

AND WHAT DID YOU DO WHEN YOU REALIZED YOU WERE WATCHING BLACK MIRROS BACKWARDS??? I’ve watched canter 1 and 2 of ST afterwards, but I hadn’t gotten to watch the whole thing yet. I can’t stand to be looking at a screen for 50minutes without doing anything. And don’t get me wrong, lol, I can be on tumblr for hours, jajaja, but a have to move my hand, and I can go from a blog to another… y'know, jajajajaja. And when I watched chapter 7 of ST i was like, okay… now they have to investigate what happened… or a guessed they would be doing flashbacks… jajajajajaja. Then I realized my mistake and thought I was stupid, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣“I see you from a different point of view🎶🎶” ( sorry, that’s me singing,jajajaja, Seeing Blind. I LOVE that song)And shows have disappointed me in the sense that they turn out to have an awful ending (seriously, I know you do it for the audience, but end a show how it deserves it, don’t turn it into shit just for a handful of money); or bc they just end it bc they don’t have enough audience. It’s always a matter of audience,jajaja.if they have a lot, they want to explode it. And if they don’t have enough they finish it ASAP. 😒

Honey is a menace, yeh, I couldn’t love him more,jajajaja. He can’t see me petting Liam, he gets jealous and comes to me and headbutt my hand so I pet him too. And Liam is so patient with him. They’re totally like liam and Louis, jajja. Hey! did I tell you the story about when I got Liam? no!! Well, someone gave my dad 4 kitties (they were sooooo small). So, guess their names (it was post March 25, 2015…) yes!! They were named (by me) Louis, Niall, Harry and Liam, jajajajajja. But Harry died a couple of days later, because he was really really young. He couldn’t survive without his mom ☹️. And the other three, my dad took them to a place we have were he has a little garden (?) with vegetables and chickens and proper farm-y, jejeje. I wasn’t too (any) into cats back then, so… Then he brought home one of them, to have our home free of mice. AND IT WAS LIAM!! And I adopted him. I took care of him. We started loving each other. And he became useless with mice, jajaja. He’s totally domesticated now 😝. And that’s his story. The rest? Louis became a big alpha male at their new home. But s car ran him over last summer, and he died 😔. And Niall is a female, jajajajaa. And I hate her. Because she hasn’t been able to keep her kitties alive once!! (She’s pregame again, and we’re praying this time she knows who to be a mom🙏🏻) Ah!! And Honey had siblings the other day!! The guy who gave it to my dad is my brother’s friend and he show him a pic. At this pace, Harry and Niall will be releasing their second one before LiLo has finished their respective tours. I'm curious!! What was your build? Did you link the fire or let it die? How was the fight against the final boss? If you've only done the main game, will you play through the dlc soon? How was your experience through the game up to this point? Sorry for all the questions, I just love this game!

!!! This ask actually got me super excited, so please don’t apologize!!

My build was pretty makeshift. At first I tried to go herald, but the last time I played Dark Souls (2) was over a year ago, so I was really outta the game and Gundyr beat me ass 10 too many times lol, so I decided to use the advice a friend gave me when I wanted to get into 1 and chose Pyro instead. I evenly levelled Dex, Faith and Int, but.... I gotta say, that was kind of dumb, because I used my Pyro abilities only very rarely. Those were some ability points wasted, but I don’t regret it! In terms of armor I went full fashion souls. Black Set helmet (Yuria wanted to leave and I REALLY wanted her armor set), Dancer armor and Deacon Skirt. Looked REAL good. Irithyll Broadsword was my go to weapon at all times paired with the Sharp Notched Whip. As the game progressed and armored enemies got more and more, the Whip sadly got shafted though :/ I wanted to change the Broadsword for several other swords, but things just didn’t satisfy me. At first I tried Wolnirs Sword, and it was cool, but sadly too slow for my taste. Then I tried the Dancers Swords, and they were cool too, but the reach I felt was very short? Then I wanted to try Lothrics sword, but somehow I missed doing that. So Irithyll broadsword stayed my best friend.

I let the fire die! That’s what I wanted to do since the first game. I flunked it in 1 though. In the second I walked away after defeating Aldia and now I let it die. Though seeing the game slowly go black, the Firekeeper asking if I can still hear her stung A LOT, I feel like it’s the right thing to do? I feel like Gwyn fucked up a lot, and I sympathized a lot with Lothric. Keeping the flame alive is desperate and really isn’t necessary. As we see in 3, everything has gone to shit so badly, even worse than in 1. I had to pull the trigger, piglet.

The fight was SOMETHING. At first I thought “oh neat that’s Gwyn all over again, pretty cool”. But then he pulls a Bloodborne and makes his sword a staff and I just SHIT. HATE those homing soul masses. Hate them!! I was really glad when the healthbar finally went down and thought “well that was tough, but not a real boss fight” until dude goes Cinder mode. JEEZ. I thought the Twin Princes didn’t like the flame, why did he know their strategy then!! But man. That Gwyn track. It was hard to fight him with tears in my eyes. I’m gonna be honest, I summoned peopel for the fight. Only one per try though, that’s my rule. I wan’t assistance, not a cake walk! Still took me so many tries I didn’t count lol. It was really tough, but I was relieved when he finally went down.

I’ve watched so many videos and read lore theories on the DLC, it makes me REALLY want to play them, especially the Ringed City. But I don’t think I’ll be playing them for a while, because money wise that’s outta my reach :(

The game was really fun and great to play through!!! I gotta say, I’m really disappointed that it’s so linear and not as interconnected as one, and it bothered me that the color palette was so grey and washed out. BUT I loved the bosses A LOT. They were so much fun to fight! The OST is probably the best in the whole series. Hands down. My favourite area was probably the Cathedral of the Deep. Really gave me that “WHERES the bonfire I need it NOW” feeling and it always delivered right on time! Also I’m glad we saw some characters reappear. I was super delighted to “meet” Heysel and Creighton (I loved how Creighton ambushes you once you’re alone and he spawns behind a tree where you can’t see him, that coward), I’m on the “Rosaria is Gwynevere” boat so returning to her every once in a while was something. Especially once Leonard does the thing. I also loved the subtle hints that Kaathe got some bullshit going on with his face all over the grand archives and and Yuria talking about him in her dying moments. Also!! What I really loved was the Angel thing. It was kept very short but it was super intriguing, and is also what makes me wanna play the Ringed City. I like that Angels seem to be parasites, but Gertrude was probably visited by something way different.

I do wish they had expanded on some characters, though. Like Oceiros. He’s a king, but the only thing we get to know about him is during his boss fights. Or Yhorm and the profaned Capital. It felt a little tacked on.

I KNOW THIS POST IS LONg I’m so sorry omg BUT I still want to mention that I love Irithyll. Not only the way it looks, but also the story. The religion has shifted from Sun to Moon and we seen Gwyndolin statues. Sirris takes her job very seriously despite the Darkmoon Blades being practically nonexistent. I love how Sulyvahn tried to take everything over while still being a religious figure. and so on I don’t wanna make it too long!!

I HOPE THIS ISN’T TOO LONG OR TOO MUCH if you wanna keep on talking about this game i’d love to talk more!!! i love dark souls games and this game left me empty i need to vent this BAD

Summer Woes

Tsuna sighed in his seat, staring at his phone with a dejected face.

“Man, I died again. This boss is too hard!”

Sighing once again, he checked his character revive at the capital city of Sofya. He clicked his tounge in frustration, checking his items once more before going to the blacksmith. It seems he couldn’t defeat Roshan with his character yet, so he would train his blacksmithing skills in the meantime.

But before that, he’d need materials.

After talking to the NPC, Tsuna went out and started asking other players for extra materials, which he obtained by buying from them. He then checked his blacksmithing skill - 86% which is not that bad.

“Tsu-kun, dinner is ready!”

Tsuna nearly dropped his phone in surprise. It was already 6? Really, he’d been playing that long?

“Coming!”

He teleported to his house inside the game and logged out.

- - -

“Yo!” “Good morning, Jyuudaime!”

Tsuna smiled and greeted the two. It was the summer holidays, and his guardians were all but scattered to different places due to training Reborn suggested one time. To his surprise, however, Reborn went away saying he had something to do, leaving Tsuna with no mentor, so he took the chance (really, this is a rare chance) and immersed himself with games.

Ah, right. Before Reborn came, Tsuna was already playing online games - mmorpg’s to be exact - since he gave up trying to study and it interests him. He played numerous games before, but now he’s playing a new game called Toram Online which was made by Asobimo.

He’s not the best at games though, but he seems to always pull through the challenges, so why not?

“Tsuna, you okay?”

The young Vongola blinked and smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, just thinking about something.”

This seemed to surprise the two. Gokudera put on his determined face and asked, “Is something bothering you, tenth? I’ll take care of it!”

“No, no! It’s nothing, Gokudera, really!”

“If tenth says so!”

Just then, his cellphone blinked indicating a notification.

- Maintenance at 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM JST (Japanese Standard Time) today! - New map to be explored! New monster and boss will be released! - Main quest will be updated! - Level cap will be raised from 80 to 85! - Fixing bugs about the inventory problem. - Adding new Gacha costumes!

Tsuna can’t help but to be excited. Asobimo seemed to be putting some good updates this time! He didn’t notice his guardians peeking from behind.

“Toram Online?”

“Hiiiieeeee!” Please don’t scare me like that!

"Maa, maa, that game seems interesting.” Takeshi said, fishing out his smartphone.

“Shut up, baseball freak! Sorry about this idiot, tenth!” said his storm guardian, also getting his phone from his pocket.

“Um, what are you guys doing?”

Gokudera beamed at him.

“We’re going to play with you from now on, tenth!”

As expected, the two we’re good at the game. Gokudera seemed to really liked the games mechanics - where he could pick his own skills and try to wear many costumes. Takeshi, on the other hand, was a casual player at most; where Gokudera was busy leveling his Alchemy skill, Takeshi would go and use the Mercenary system and would sometime hire another player - or Gokuder’s. Most of the time he would sit at Rakau Plains doing nothing, but he’s always with the other two when fighting a boss or completing a hard quest.

Gokudera picked a DPS (damage per second) mage, while Takeshi picked a dual-wielding swordsman. Tsuna himself was a DPS mage, but more of like a tanking-healing one since he really doesn’t like to die (this is why Gokudera’s second character was pure healer and would use it sometimes for support).

They progressed immensely by that time, and their main character were all above level 80 by the time the last two weeks of their summer started to roll.

It wasn’t until the next update for the incoming event happened that problems started to arise.

To begin with, Tsuna doesn’t spend money for in-game purchases, since gacha doesn’t really interest him - but this turned out to be a problem within the latest expansion when a bug targeted players without single purchase from the shop and rendered their currently weapons obsolete, which in turn raises millions of questions and anger from players around the world.

Asobimo released a statement, apologizing for the inconvenience and annound a full day maintenance the next day.

It was fine, really. But Gokudera wasn’t okay with it, so he sent out a full-blown letter demanding the company to fix everything within the day, which in turn they replied with more apologies and a promise they would fix it as soon as possible. They did this three days later, adding the new event, Summer Troubles, with limited time map dedicated for monster and a boss during the event as compensation.

Two days later the event was release - Tsuna was about to cry.

The game was fixed and everything, but another problen arose. The bug was removed but it affected the new map for the event significantly, making the monsters stronger and the boss even more so.

“This is ridiculous!” Gokudera snapped when they were killed yet again. The event boss, Yselenica, was an archangel that had fallen during the Battle of Worlds - meaning the story where the world of the game was created. The boss information also stated that during his long time of being alone, Yselenica’s sadness turned into hate making the once kind angel into something sinister.

For starters, her level was 100 - the cap was still 85, so overpowering her by level is impossible. Additionally, she has an array of attacks where her magic removes every buffs/bonuses a player has - and also instantly killing the entire party upon hitting them. Also, most of her skills were AOE (area of effect), meaning almost all of her skills were wide-ranged, making it hard for tanks and melee fighter to attack; save for one skill.

This skill was a single line attack, but also one of the deadliest. It deals thousands of damage to a player and unless you’re a tank, you should be worried. That’s when another problem comes in - the boss likes to target magic casters - which were already vulnerable as they were. Tsuna’s character for one, is a pure INT meaning most of his skills were for dealing damage rather than protection like tankers does.

Takeshi, who was always acting as a tank, always die first - which is funny, since his character build isn’t really for tanking. He’s a swordsman, damn it. Takeshi’s character is just a proxy tank - which gave them another problem - they don’t have a proper tank. So one day, they’ve decided that Takeshi would make a proper tank.

Once they’ve successfully turned it to lvl 80 (with the help of exp buffing items), they came back to the new boss to challenge it again - in Nightmare mode (because Gokudera wouldn’t want to defeat it in easy mode). The animation starts, and the battle begins.

“Takeshi!”

The swordsman responded by running towards the boss, activating a skill to get it’s attention; Tsuna and Gokudera hitting it with spells in the background. Then they started counting. Bosses, specifically, have predetermined attacks - meaning their attacks were set to a certain order. But if an attack hits it with flinch, it would suddenly get randomized and then its nigh impossible to beat.

“AOE, dodge!”

They ran away from the red circle, almost hugging the edges of the map. After that they continued this for minutes, with Takeshi taking aggro of the monster and the two buffing him and healing.

Until Tsuna’s attack made the boss flinched.

“Shit!” he cursed, running away from the deadly single attack that was suddenly aimed at him. Just when we managed to get his HP down to 8%! He managed to escape, but then got hit by another surprise attack and died. “Oh, come on!” he said as he stared at his dead screen. NO, god dammit, they were going to finish this thing off!!

“Takeshi, continue holding her down, Gokudera, keep healing him. I’ll use my revive this time.”

“Got it!”

“Roger, tenth!”

Tsuna wait for another attack to finish, before reviving his character and running to the other direction. “Takeshi, take her to the other side of the map! I’m going to use my new combo!”

“What, now?!”

“It’s fine! Let’s just hope she’d die before we did!”

Takeshi laughed at this, but obeyed nonetheless. Gokudera gave Tsuna an ATK raising buff and nod at him gratefully. “Right, here I go!”

Tsuna clicked the skill button and his character released a couple of attacks, each one hitting stronger than the last - and one attack managed to hit her too hard and the boss suddenly turned to him. He released another combo this time, and screamed when an attack made a critical hit, dealing 83,674 damage - killing the boss.

“YEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! WE DID IT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!”

Beside him, his guardians were screaming as well. “Good job, Tsuna!”

“No, idiot, tenth is more than good! He’s amazing, the best!”

Just then, something hard hit Tsuna’s head and he screamed in pain. “Having fun, Dame-Tsuna?”

“Reborn, that hurt!”

Reborn’s aura went dark. “Oh?”

“Hieeeeee! Don’t shoot my cellphone, Reborn!!”

Ryohei was doing his EXTREME jog to Namimori when he saw the trio walking down the road. “Hey, how’s yo- AHHHHHHHHHH!!! WHAT EXTREMELY HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS?!”

Tsuna’s pale, thin face greeted him. Takeshi and Gokudera seemed to be in the same situation. A small, hollow laugh came from the young Vongola, creeping the Sun guardian.

“Reborn punished us.”

Well, he didn’t have anything to say to that.
