I might not be a skybound hater but having nya explain exactly how tired she is of people making her choices for her and ripping away her autonomy only for Jay to end the season by not only making a choice for her but also erasing a previous choice she made was one of the worst things ninjago has done.

Nothing Nightmares
Summary: Remus and Virgil have lived together for a while, unfortunately not just because they’re soulmates. At least Remus can be their to comfort him through the nightmares Virgil gets.
Warnings: Abuse mention, Nightmares,
/\/\
Virgil had fallen asleep part way through the afternoon. They'd been relaxing together, making fun of horror movies, just leaning against each other. It had taken a while but they'd both learnt how to quiet the song that played each time they got closer to each other again and Remus couldn't be happier over the time they spent together.
He'd gotten up to make a start on something they'd both be able to eat after an hour of letting Virgil sleep against him. It wasn't the runaway romance people always assumed their relationship to be after hearing how fast they moved in together once meeting, but he did occasionally want to indulge in domesticity with Virgil, including sharing dinners together.
Once the pasta had been put on to cook, whimpers coming from the sofa had Remus hurrying to his soulmate's side, already starting to sing along to their song as he shook Virgil's shoulder. “means nothing, what's the point in hanging round for nothing?” He wished he knew where the song was actually from in their world, but supposed there was a reason people tended not to look up their soul songs.
Bleary eyes started blinking open as the first chorus began, meeting Remus's in fear. “This misery taking every memory..” Remus tried to figure out if he should keep on singing, or if Virgil needed more time to wake up from whatever nightmare memory he'd been in.
At least it was better than that first month of them living together Virgil had been terrified, jumping at any noise or fast movement, and constantly watching Remus for his reaction at random points. Things Remus had now learnt would have sent his mother into screaming fits on a good day.
Remus hadn't asked what would happen on a bad day, but had detailed a million ways he longed to take revenge, if only Janus hadn't already had a lawyer already making the lawsuit the second Virgil was somewhere safe. Logan Sanders and Janus had gotten her arrested at lightning speed and had plenty of evidence ready to bring an air tight case when she found solicitors to defend her. Neither believed Virgil would need to be anywhere close to the trial.
None of that eased the nightmares Virgil still suffered from, or made Remus feel like justice would be served as the terrified man threw himself into his arms, knocking them both onto the floor.
“I'm here, Vi, never gonna let you go, even if you forget meeting me sometimes. I'm harder to get rid of than a limpet on a ship and if it takes supergluing us  together to prove it then I'll get that done.” Remus muttered comforts into Virgil's hair, hands stroking up and down his back.
“She -she was saying I'd always fail. That – that my art was no good and I co-couldn't-” Virgil began mumbling, attempting to bury himself into Remus's chest, getting shushed a moment later with a kiss to his temple.
Remus tightened his arms before smiling. “Well we know what her words are worth, don't we? The first line of our songs says it.” He pointed out, getting a confused glance up at him. “Can you remember what that line is?”
“Eve- Everything she says to me means nothing.” Virgil replied after a moments thought where he automatically began copying Remus's breathing.
He nodded, “Good, it means nothing. You're a brilliant artist and Janus has already got people buying your paintings. I think he even mentioned a few friends asking if you took commissions last week. That sounds like you're pretty successful to me.” It had taken months after getting Janus to trust him for Remus to meet Virgil, who Jan was most protective of. He'd been interested in meeting Virgil since the first time he was mentioned but as though the name was a lock, Janus used to shut down the conversation and divert his attention completely. Thank goodness Remus was a determined pest.
The soothing words had Virgil listening carefully, even as their song started to fade out again. “That's just Jay. He could sell maggots to a butchers if he wanted to.” Virgil snickered, rejecting the compliment but still calming down.
“Spiderling, if she's not allowed to bring you down, then I better not be hearing you doing that for her.” Remus gently chided, shifting so that he could jump back up with Virgil in his arms. He could hear bubbling from the kitchen and needed to rescue the pasta before anything that might upset Virgil more happened. “Should I carry you around on my shoulders yelling everything you've done to be proud of until you believe it?”
Finally there was a small snicker, and the head leaning back from his chest. “But running helps me feel better and I can't do that from your shoulders.”
“Papyrus motivational training it is then. We've even got skeleton onesies to perfect the look. How about 3 times round the block after dinner shouting how awesome you are to the world?” Remus nodded decided on doing that.
He plopped Virgil onto the counter while hurrying over to the oven, not wanting to risk his soulmate by attempting to hold him and cook at the same time.
Virgil just watched him for a moment, curling his knees into his chest. “Or you could just get Janus over here with any recent reviews he's gotten about my work? It's be nice to see him again and you know he basically blocks anyone with the slightest criticism.”
“Blocks everything else too until he decides to trust someone.” It had amused Remus when he first met Janus. He constantly acted like he didn't care about what anyone thought about him, and as though he was confident enough that any criticism just rolled off his back, but blocked anyone that came close to it. In the face of Remus jumping between extremes and honestly just treating him as though his lies and masks were amusing that bolstered confidence had soon melted away. “Just remember how long it took us to meet and then the second we did you were living here.” He laughed, having been stunned by just how fast that happened.
“Oh that was always going to happen with my soulmate. Jay originally tried to convince that woman we were soulmates, but the lyrics didn't match when she tried testing us.” Virgil hummed, glancing up at the fridge for a moment before standing on the counter. “What're you cooking, anyway?”
“Eggy veggy pasta thing for you and I'm getting pasta with soap seasoning.” Remus chirruped his reply. “Never knew that about Janus, but I probably should have guessed. He's completely overprotective of you.”
Remus honestly believed that if he hadn't started immediately singing the song he could suddenly hear while heading over to meet Virgil that first time, Janus would have taken months before he learnt anything more about Virgil. Instead he had been insisting they move in together before actually making their introductions. It had been convincing the Virgil that he could do that took a lot longer. He had been terrified of it being a mistake, or something else going wrong despite admitting he could hear the song.
“Jay tries to be at least. Does his head in when he learns we're meeting people he hasn't checked out. And you're having at least a few vegetables with yours.” Virgil was insistent on trying to make Remus eat actual food and given how worried he could get when there was too long between him seeing Remus eat it was quite effective.
Remus left the pots on the stove for a moment to kiss Virgil's nose. “And I'm here to help scare away anything else that could harm you.”
“That you are.” Virgil agreed, returning the kiss on his cheek.

Episode 1
Drag Race is back, and so is the Pathet Commentary that noone asked for baby!
Since the UK has just gone into Lockdown #3, I am super glad there's a new series of Drag Race to keep me entertained every week - so you guys better be prepared for these ridiculously long posts, bc I got nothing else on 😂
So first of all let's talk about the format. I do not understand why this show is so obsessed with ~twists~ and ☆turns☆ and making everything a 💫gag💫. Like, nothing was wrong with the usual format? There was no need for this weird staggered introduction/lipsync thing. They kept flicking between introductions to lipsyncs, so it felt like you were always at the beginning of the episode. Very weird. And we all obviously knew that they weren't going to send half the people home on the first episode, so it just felt stupid to have this "lipsync for your LYFE" every 2 seconds. It feels insulting - if you're going to predicate an episode on half the people going home right away, the audience just feels cheated when actually noone goes home and everything we just watched is academic.
It didn't have to be that way either, they could have done all the introductions, had the whole cast do the "walk in" and have their little moment & one-liner; then put them into groups to lipsync? And whatever it is they're going to do with the Pork Chop group, they could have just said? Like "this year the first challenge is in teams, and to decide the teams we're going to have a series of lipsyncs". I have no idea if that's actually what they're doing, but it wouldn't feel as insulting as what actually happened. And then you can still have the "twist" where the teams aren't even and you have to send someone home. I wouldnt have minded that so much. I actually really like the concept of seeing them all lipsync in episode 1! It sets up the season, you can see who's going to be the lipsync assassin, you can see what kind of performer everyone is... I think its a really cool challenge for the first episode! Just the way they went about it was shitty.
The other thing is it was really clear that none of those queens knew they were gonna have to lipsync in their entrance looks, which feels unfair. At least let them prepare properly!
I also really missed the photo shoot mini challenge! Like, i know that it's harder to do that inline with covid restrictions, but I feel like there are still ways. They could have done an outside photoshoot, the photographer would not have had to be near any of the cast or crew... I just missed it.
Anyway, onto the breakdown!
1. Denali
I looooooooooved Denali's entrance look! It was so perfect. I have no idea how she was just casually walking on those skates though?! They looked like real skates, but they can't have been, right? Also, I am such a slut for like, people with super long plaits, and when they twirl the plait wraps around their body! I love it so much. The only teeny little critique I have, and I'm being super nit-picky here, is i think her contour is just a tiny bit too dark, or maybe not blended out super well? Such a nit pick, but the rest of her makeup seemed like beauty makeup, and it was done really nicely, so the contour really stood out to me.
It was also really obvious that that look was not a lipsyncing look. Which is such a shame, because I think she's a really good lipsyncer, I liked her lipsync, but I think it was a little bit hampered by what she was wearing. Its just really unfair that they didn't tell them to be prepared to lipsync in their entrance looks.
Overall though, I like Denali, I think she's great.
2. Elliott with 2 Ts
I really liked Elliott's entrance look, I thought it was a really cool 80s mom look, I liked it! I do think it was a shame that she was standing on stage in between Tina Burner and Kahmora Hall though - there was an all out campy costume on one side, an all out glamour beauty pageant look on the other, and poor Elliott did look a little over shadowed in the middle.
Unfortunately I think she was also middle of the road in the lipsync. Tina Burner is such a powerhouse that I think the other two were always going to look a little lacklustre next to her; but I think not being able to prepare properly can't have helped either! I could go either way on Elliott, I feel like I haven’t seen enough to make up my mind yet.
3. Gottmik
I really honestly thought they were called "GottMilk", which I thought was cute and fun, and I was almost disappointed when I realised I'd read it wrong and it was Gottmik. C'est la vie.
I loved Gottmik's entrance look - the makeup was stunning, the outfit was everything, I really enjoyed it! I'm really looking forward to what looks their going to pull out, especially makeup looks! I do think they're very young, and didn't seem all that confident in front of the judges; which I really hope changes! I think they're going to be amazing, I just think they need to recognise how amazing they are and own it. I also really liked their lipsync! I was finding it really hard to call between them and Utica, they both did great!
I'm also super excited to see a trans man on the show, we love inclusive drag! Hopefully this is a step towards the show being less transphobic. I'm going to be really interested to hear what Gottmik has to say about their experience on the show - particularly in a few years when they're no longer under contract with RuPaul.
Really excited by Gottmik, can't wait to see what they bring!
4. Joey Jay
I'm not convinced by Joey Jay just yet. I didnt buy everything she was selling this week. I don't know why, I just feel a bit...underwhelmed, maybe? I liked her confessionals, she seems quite funny, and self aware, which I love, I'm just not sure about her yet. I hated her entrance look, which probably didn't help 😂 the chicken feathers didn't bother me, I kind of love a big feather sleeve, and I'm all about being cheap - I do wish it hadn't been moulting though, like baby make sure your shit is glued down before you walk on! There was also something about the wig I didn't like, I think she was going for a wet look with the hair, but it just felt a bit flat. I feel like it didn't go far enough to be proper wet-look, so it just was a bit lifeless. And the bodysuit was cut super weird in the crotch area. It just felt like everything was a little bit off; and I just think for your first look, first impression, making an entrance; it was lacklustre. It's a shame.
The lipsync was okay. Again, I wish they'd been told that they were lipsyncing right off the bat, in their entrance looks, so they just were ready and prepared. Watching Joey Jay's lipsync felt a lot like she was just pulling out her "usual" moves, it didn't feel like she was in the moment. I think a lot of that can be put down to just being surprised and not totally ready? Again, it feels unfair.
I think Joey could be really great, and I do want to see her progress in the competition and see what else she has, I just feel like she didn't get to show her best this week, and I think that's a shame.
5. Kahmora Hall
Kahmora is beautiful. Her face, her body, the big hair, the Mackey dress... stunning. I literally couldn't listen to anything that was said while the camera was on her, I was so distracted by how beautiful she is 😂
I was a little disappointed with her lipsync though, it felt like she wasn't really there, she wasn't really in it? And there were a couple of moments where I think she dropped words. She just didn't seem super sure of herself, which is such a shame, because she walked in with confidence, she stood on that stage radiating star power, and then the lipsync came and she just faded. I really hope that it was just because she wasn't ready, and I really hope we see her kill it next week!
6. Kandy Muse
I can see exactly why her and Aja are friends 👌 I love that she's a big personality, and I think she could be the confessionals queen this season. I kind of love that she shaded Aja as well, because it didn't really feel like proper shade, it just felt like a sort of sibling rivalry, and I thought it was funny! I like her so far. I feel like she's the friend who's very over-excitable, and can be a little annoying, but 1000% has the biggest heart in the group and will always have your back. I relate to her 😂
I loved her entrance look! Any bedazzled and sparkling denim, I am here for it. The dress was gorgeous, I love the tie waist detail that made it look like a shirt tied around her waist, I loved the pearls on the boobs, the denim arm warmers! Everything. I loved it. The denim boom box? Iconic. As soon as she walked in, I got it. I got that she was New York, I saw a little Haus of Aja, I got the edgy beauty thing, I just loved it the second I saw it. The only shame of it is that, because they obviously weren't told they'd have to lipsync in these looks, she kept pulling it up during the lipsync. But thats production's fault, Kandy can do no wrong for me right now 😂
7. Lala Ri
Okay, hear me out. I love her. Her entrance look is the worst one I've seen for at least a few seasons. I hated it so much! And its such a shame, because she's obviously gorgeous, and an incredible performer, and funny, and all these other things, but girl the look was ugly.
I liked the high neck/faux mask thing, I thought that was cute. But it was just a weird look. There was so much fabric at the top of her body, and nothing underneath? And then to have fully bare legs with an ankle boot? No! It was just all wrong. Maybe it would have worked if the roll neck (I assume bodysuit, just for convenience) had been really sheer mesh, so there was a really clear distinction between those layers. And I wish she'd worn pumps instead of ankle boots.
But her performance was one of the best of the week. I loved it, I love how much she just threw herself into it, gave it everything, I loved it. Very much looking forward to seeing other looks from her though!
8. Olivia Lux
What a beautiful smile! Such a gorgeous face. I love love looooved her look, I love a two tone moment! Especially with the gloves - I just wish she'd done the shoes too! I loved it. I also love that it was two pieces, and that she was able to take of that long skirt in the lipsync, and give herself maximum movement! It was a really smart choice.
I also think her lipsync was great! I love that she gave me a little bit of everything; we had a bit of story-telling, a little comedy, a little camp, it was a whole lot of fun! I couldn't take my eyes off her, she was just sparkling.
I'm a little bit in love with Olivia, I think she's gonna be one to watch this year!
9. Rosé
I feel like I might be being unfair on Rosé, but I dont like her very much just yet. Her confidence was just bordering on arrogance to me, and I felt a lot like she was looking down on Olivia Lux for being a less experienced queen? And the look on her face when she "lost" the lipsync was like she was thinking "how could I lose to her", which I just didn't like at all. Idk, I probably am being really unfair, and a lot of it could be the edit, she just seems a little too cocky for me. And I also feel like, how are you gonna be super cocky like that when you've walked in in the most basic look. I don't know, I'm not buying it yet.
Her lipsync was good, but it just felt a little bit too serious, she wasn't having as much fun with it as Olivia.
10. Symone
I love that Symone came in in a dress made of Polaroids. I love it. I love unconventional materials, I love the confidence, I love that she literally came in going "this is me". And the way it was constructed as well, so it had the little flare on the bottom that moved when she twirled? Perfect. Also I love the orangey wig with it! It went so well with the dress, and she looked totally flawless.
Her performance was great as well! She was cute and funny, she knew that song back to front, I loved it. I bought it.
11. Tamisha Iman
Tanisha almost did what I wish Lala had done - the mesh top under the power suit, I loved it! I love a big power shoulder; the only problem I had was the hair. If you've got big high shoulders, you need to have big high hair, otherwise your hair is going to look flat, and you're going to look like you're walking around with your shoulders held up around your ears. Even if she'd just had an updo, I think that would have helped. There also was a little bit of a sense that the outfit was wearing her somehow? I dont know, it just wasn't quite right.
But her performance. She's a performer. She's a dancer. She was giving me Janet. She is one to watch this year. She came to play, she knows what she's doing, and I am so ready for it!
12. Tina Burner
We love a queen with a brand. Of all the entrance looks this year, I think hers was the smartest. I dont really know much about her, other than that she was in the cast, but when she walked in I was like "oh, that must be Tina Burner, she's got the firefighter look happening". Was it my favourite ever look? No, but it was well made, it fit her nicely, it didn't look like anything anyone else was wearing, and it told me exactly who she is; that's what you want from qn entrance look! She did it right.
Tina is also obviously used to sharing a stage with other people; she was perfectly comfortable in that lipsync. She didn't get in anyone's way, but she still knew how to pull focus and be centre stage, even is she wasn't literally centre stage. It was a great lipsync, she knows how to play this game, and I think she's definitely one to watch out for!
13. Utica Queen
I loooooooved Utica's entrance look! I love clashing patterns, over the top accessories, big hair, outfits that just shouldn't work but they really really do.
Unfortunately, I think that's where my love for Utica might run out. She has this cool fashion sense, and clearly a silly sense of humour, bit it felt like she was trying sooo hard to be ~quirky~ and it just came off annoying. Maybe that will improve, maybe I'm being really unfair and I just need to get to know her better, I just felt a bit like "okay babe, calm down".
Her lipsync was pretty good, but again, I feel like she was relying on silly & quirky. I dont know.
Overall, I'm a little bit disappointed in the first episode, I feel like we didn't get to see very much of the queens at all. Like, compare this to season 12; say what you want about season 12, but in the first episode(s) we got to see 5 looks from each queen, and song lyrics to tell us more about them. This episode, we got 1 look, a lipsync they weren't told about, and some chatting in the Pork Chop Loading Dock. I just think its a shame. This show is so invested in twists and turns that its forgotten that the queens are what makes this show special. I want to see them have fun and do well, not be totally defeated in episode 1!

TGF Thoughts: 3x05-- The One Where a Nazi Gets Punched
One recap down, two to go. Think I’ll be able to write them before the next ep airs? I doubt it.
The episode opens by confirming Maia’s gone from RBL: Her name’s no longer on what used to be her office, her documents are being shredded, and all her personal belongings are in a box.
Marissa decides to pick a fight with an associate over Maia. “If you didn’t like Maia, you could have just come out and said that,” Marissa says. Uh. I don’t think Maia got fired because one associate didn’t like her but okay Marissa. The associate insists she’s not happy because she didn’t like Maia, she’s pleased that the zero-tolerance policy is being enforced consistently.
I do wish people would stop saying “Maia’s been arrested twice” because one of those arrests was in no way her fault. Every time anyone tries to use that as an argument, it makes me want to defend Maia even though I totally believe the partners had reason to fire her.
“Maia didn’t use drugs,” Marissa, who faked a drug test on Maia’s behalf, insists. Alright Marissa.
The whole 22nd floor starts to bicker, and Julius goes to inform the other partners that Marissa is stirring the pot. “She’s only stirring the pot because she feels that Maia was made a sacrificial lamb to the fact that the partners don’t want to pay for true financial parity here,” Diane says in defense of Maia/Marissa. Does that mean Diane wants to take whatever pay cuts and struggles come with paying true parity? Or does that just mean Diane wants her goddaughter to be able to get ahead?
To pay everyone the same amount at each level (which I’m not convinced actually gets at the root of the problem if they don’t put measures in place to make sure performance evaluations and opportunities are also awarded equally) would cost the firm $800,000 a year. That’s less than I thought, if only because whenever the partners are personally liable for something it’s always at least a million a person and when they bring in a big client it’s always like 35 million dollars/year in billing. And didn’t they pay off lots of the women Reddick assaulted with at least 800k?
Adrian is very right: this strategy would also raise the lowest performers to the level of the highest performers (within their job title), and then the highest are going to want more, and then the problem resets. How do you determine who the highest are, and which of the highest threaten to leave and which stay no matter what, and so on.
“Maybe we should consider it a human resources issue,” Julius says. Maybe? MAYBE? You’ve got associates fighting while on the job and internal documents circulating and you’re only NOW thinking to involve HR?
Julius wants to hire an expensive sensitivity trainer to talk to the associates instead of paying them more. Sounds like something the partners need more than the associates. Also would that go over well? I’m imagining the associates being like, wait, they have money for this but not money to pay me fairly? And now they’re telling me I need sensitivity training to cover their own asses, as though I just decided to pay myself less? If they do this sort of training in conjunction with an actual fix, sure, whatever, they may need it just to deal with the infighting. But alone? Noooope.
This conversation gets interrupted by an assistant telling Adrian that Judge Dunaway is wondering why he’s not in court. “An associate” is there and Dunaway wants to know why no one else has showed up. None of the partners knew anything about a motion in this case, so they suspect Maia of trying to steal their client.
I think Maia could try to steal a client, but I don’t think she’d ever think to do it.
They put Maia on their biggest case? Just Maia and Lucca and the partners? This sounds wrong.
Maia’s not returning Diane’s calls. I think it’s pretty clear that Diane wants the best for Maia, but I can totally see why it might not feel that way to Maia. She’s not handling this in the most mature way, but I’ll cut her some slack. She was just fired, after all!
Lucca and Jay are in the middle of nowhere, poll watching. Lucca worries this assignment is punishment for stirring up the salary drama (though idk how anyone other than Jay would know to tie it to Lucca!) and I don’t think she’s wrong. She’s a fucking department head and they have her out poll watching?
Maia isn’t the surprise co-counsel: Blum is. That makes way more sense, but also, UGH. I’m over Blum.
This case is interesting but I’m still going to write it up as “Case stuff happens” for the most part. Its premise is more interesting than its execution. I kinda just want to Google what kinds of suits are pending against real life genetic testing companies.
Blum got on this case because of documents he stole from Diane’s office. It is very possible RBL has worse security than Alicia’s apartment building.
Maia’s got a new job at something called Consult-a-Lawyer, a phone helpline that charges clients by the minute (and makes sure each call takes many minutes). This seems terrible.
Lucca and Jay talk with their Republican counterparts; they disagree but can at least talk about their disagreements. Also, none of them are really there to be poll monitors; they are there to try to sway the election results by fighting to selectively enforce rules. I’m sure they’d take issue with that phrasing but that’s what they’re doing.
Marissa’s noticeably grumpy at work and tells Diane it’s because her “best friend” was fired. Marissa says and does so much stuff that no one else could get away with; this is not a proper way to conduct yourself at work-- especially towards the people who are on your side.
Diane is reaching out to other firms on Maia’s behalf. That’s privilege at work right there.
Diane tasks Marissa with watching Blum. She also confuses Marissa and Maia, which is weird since only one of them is her goddaughter.
I am SO OVER Blum. Why is he so loud?! When I watch these episodes first thing on Thursday mornings, the last thing I need is his maniacal screaming.
Marissa is unimpressed with Blum.
OH MY GOD MAKE HIS LOUDNESS STOP. I just don’t care. Just gonna let this next bit with the song play while I change my sheets, because I have nothing to say about it.
And then I did laundry, went on two trips, and visited a bunch of bookstores and now I’m back, three recaps behind.
I didn’t even get to the credits before I stopped writing!? Me of three weeks ago, what were you doing?! (The credits are 17 minutes in, to be fair.)
He’s so loud! So! Loud!
Some sort of white (male) supremacist group shows up at the precinct Lucca and Jay are monitoring.
Diane and Liz meet with the sensitivity consultant, who has them do an exercise as a test. It’s one of those games where you take a step forward/backward if a sentence describes you. Neither Diane nor Liz wants to participate, but the game ends up working on them: turns out they both like singing, Prince, Roma, and Hannah Gadsby. LOLLOL I believe every one of those things.
I don’t know what Lucca thinks Diane will be able to do to help with the white supremacists, but she probably doesn’t suspect Diane’s going to have her unwittingly help #Resistance.
Case stuff happens. It involves Blum singing. Go away.
Jay calls Naomi with the story about the Red Jackets, while Diane’s #Resistance buddy (what is her name? I’m going to have to pay more attention because she is “The Young One Who Does Computer Things” to me, but she’s been in enough episodes I should probably learn her name) gets the Red Jackets fired.
Case stuff happens. Blum puts another actor on a stand as a witness.
Marissa comes to visit Maia at work. At this job, Maia actually has to do work and gets negative feedback when she doesn’t do work well, so as happy as she is to see Marissa (and the Sunglasses of Badassery), she can’t chat long.
Maia is not as happy to help with work related things. In fact, given that I’ve seen the next two episodes (and the end of this one), Marissa reaching out to Maia about something work related may even make Maia feel like her work friends never really cared about her.
Marissa also brings Maia a list of three firms where Diane’s put in a good word. “Diane doesn’t care about me,” Maia, who got the only two jobs she’s ever held because of Diane, insists. Sure, Maia. But I won’t criticize her too much-- she WAS just fired.
Marissa loudly informs the entire Phone-A-Lawyer office that it’s “not fine” to work there. I love Marissa but she lacks self-awareness, like, all the time when she’s not undercover.
Maia’s supervisor isn’t pleased Marissa’s shown up during work hours. She asks her to leave, but does help out with the case.
“If you don’t call them, I will,” the woman in the cubicle next to Maia interjects, offering Maia some much-needed perspective. Maia’s been through a lot, but it’s still clear she’s not someone who has ever had to worry about money.
Lucca calls the police on two of the Red Jackets (they’re sex offenders) just as Naomi’s news van shows up.
Naomi and Jay are a couple which surprised me but, you know, I don’t hate it. Actually, I think I like it.
The judge Adrian is sleeping with does him a favor in court. This relationship? I don’t think I like it.
Diane and Liz regroup about the sensitivity consultant. Liz doesn’t think she’s worth the money, since no sensitivity game will ever solve racism (she’s right-- I don’t know that I think they’re completely useless but they are never going to get at the root of the problem). Diane suggests midyear bonuses instead; Liz points out they’ll know they’re being bought off.
Then something magical happens: Diane and Liz start SINGING! It’s so fun. It’s also a great character moment. We’ve never seen Diane have a female peer at work she could just be herself around, and this strengthens the Diane/Liz friendship that’s driving a lot of the season.
A sex scene quite rudely interrupts the wonderful duet.
If anyone’s written anything on Judge Hazelwood, I’d love to read it. I’m intrigued by her use of power but I think I need to read someone else’s take to fully understand what the writers are (attempting to) do with her.
“Your head is like a sculpture. I want to cut it off and put it on my desk,” is a VERY DISTURBING LINE.
Maia’s using her mom’s maiden name again-- smart. And she took Diane up on the interview offers-- also smart. (Yes, I’ll call her privileged for even having those offers, but I don’t take issue with her using connections. I don’t care if she’s privileged; I care when she lacks self-awareness about it.)
The job won’t start until November, which makes Maia angry. She sees this as Diane trying to fuck her over, when really she’s been offered a job 30 seconds after introducing herself because Diane’s recommendation means so much. Maia TURNS IT DOWN, even though it’s a promise of good work in six months and the best lead she has. Unless there’s going to be something in the contract about how she cannot accept another job if one comes up in those six months before she officially starts, WHY? WHY TURN DOWN GOOD WORK AT A TOP FIRM JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU COULD DO BETTER? YOU’RE WORKING AT PHONE-A-LAWYER.
And this dude gives her so many chances-- he even says to let her know if she winds up being available.
Her only question is whether Diane knew about the late start date. The interviewer thinks so, and Maia takes it as a personal insult. Oof. You know what most low-ranking people who are fired for drug use get? Here’s a hint: it’s not interviews at three top firms with the highest recommendation from a well-respected name partner.
NOTHING about this reaction from Maia is out of character for her. I just have no patience for it.
Adrian and Blum collaborate in one of the more interesting scenes they’ve done with Blum. He’s loud and devious, but he’s not stupid. And watching Adrian understand and go along with Blum’’s strategizing-- setting the stage for him to normalize all of Blum’s other, more illegal antics as appropriate workplace behavior-- is fascinating.
Naomi is polite when interviewing one of the Red Jackets, but she refuses to shake his hand. I like that moment.
Jay punches one of the Red Jackets after the Red Jacket antagonizes him. The Republican poll monitor sees the whole thing, but decides to say nothing. (The point, basically, is that we can find common ground with people we disagree with, and that only CERTAIN people we disagree with are actually the enemy.)
A riot breaks out and we see only a little bit of it before Jay starts monologuing about his belief that Nazis should be punched. Dunno to what extent I agree (slippery slope, etc) but I do know I’m not going to waste any time being outraged over one of them being punched.
More case stuff happens.
Lucca, Jay, and Naomi share beers after the riot. They’ve all emerged from the riot safely. This is a nice scene; I love watching these characters just hang out. Apparently Jay had a crush on Lucca for a little while, which I find kinda cute as long as it doesn’t go anywhere beyond that (SO OVER WORKPLACE ROMANCES ON THIS SHOW).
Maia calls Lucca, but Lucca can’t get any reception so she decides to be 2x14 Alicia and find a high spot on top of a car. Her phone still gobbles the call, though. Maia takes this, too, as a personal insult.
Diane calls Maia and Maia refuses to answer. Oh, Maia. If I got the sense she wanted to do this without help-- kind of like s7 Alicia not wanting to answer to anyone-- that would be one thing. This just sounds petty.
Oh goodie! We get MORE BLUM in the future: he’s now working with RBL on the Second Helix case for the near future. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Maia’s packing up her apartment now that she can’t afford the rent, and another firm Diane set her up with tells her the soonest they can interview her is in a month. Well, at least she’s still trying. She throws her phone on the floor in frustration, and I do feel bad for her. Just, like, not that bad.
Lucca shows up at Maia’s door, since Maia’s now not answering her phone. Lucca explains her day and why she wasn’t near her phone-- and her reasons are, of course, valid-- and Maia just doesn’t care. You’ll remember that Lucca doesn’t have friends and that when Lucca shows up for someone, she’s all in. Maia, who is actually friends with Lucca, has not picked up on this (or is not willing to acknowledge it). Lucca offers to get dinner (and to pay), and to spend time away from her baby after a stressful day. She says she feels awkward about how things went down at work.
Maia doesn’t just decline the invitation or say it’s not a good time. She says she and Lucca were “work friends” and shuts the door. Well, that’s harsh. I don’t really fault Maia for feeling detached from her old workplace or awkward around her old work friends, or for needing time to herself. But wow, this is a phenomenally awful way to treat a friend. (And not that I need to pile on more, but Lucca and Marissa have both been FAR more supportive of Maia than Maia’s ever been of them.)

WHOOPS I KINDA DID THAT, SORRY KEEGAN, YOU DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG I JUST NEED EVERYONE ON THIS TEAM TO BE BFFS WITH ME
also just realized that at final 13 i know well over half of the people in the game..... love that for me!! -close with ali, jonathan, and zoe over here both separately & together -mj obvs -cindi and jay are known quantities -jules is great too -so only ones i don’t know.... silver, zach, asya, nathan & jessie i know i can work with at least half of the ones i know, probably more - only real question mark is cindi cuz she was a little sus originally, and jay i hope is still good but i think he and keegan were close so might have to work on explaining that one. but overall, i feel pretty well set for merge whenever it gets here, and hopefully the next couple votes can get rid of some of those ones i don’t know. onward and upward! we’ll see!!!

I don't really do much text confessionals but I just ranted in my host chat so I'm sending it here. ~~This Round~~ this round is gonna be fun, so much fun, and I won't have to do like any gameplay because I think regardless the trian tribe is going to tribal and I wanna see how that plays out, and then if my tribe goes to tribal I'm gonna dip out using my safety without power and let silver kill an og circi since he's gonna pull out that extra vote however, if asya or jules have an advantage / if mj flips that's fine with me too. I'm still debating playing the solar eclipse. I want to cause chaos, and for what? For no reason. *Moments Later* I spun a wheel to determine what I will do this round, and it landed on not playing the solar eclipse and noping out. that's what I'm doing. now you may ask for the strategic value of letting a circi die? Well, if a Circi goes (or two circis go if it's an andro/circi tribal), I'm suddenly 1/2 of my OG tribe left. People may want to pick me up and use me as a number since I will have no allegiance to anyone. This puts me in a lowkey kind of decent position if I lie and say I was gonna be voted out if I didn't safety w/o power. Also playing a safety without power and claiming the magnet would statistically mean I am less likely to have other advantages since other people had searches stockpiled for the swap I'll probably test the waters for a bit after immunity results and then play the magnet to make it look like it wasn't planned and I just got a bad feeling. In other words: I'm turning the crackhead dial-up, it's time for fun! I swear to god if we don't merge after this round I will scream. ~~Planning for the Future~~ oh my god it could be a 10 person merge. because the merge episode is usually episode 8. we're on 6 but that wouldn't make sense to prevent a 5 > 1 person tribe from occurring and 5 votes in a swap seems like a bit much. I feel like at this point I know I probably won't win this game but I'm gonna give them hell while I'm here playing well is boring People on this cast that will probably try to kill me: Cindi, Jay, Nathan, Maybe Jesse? I haven't really spoken much to MJ or Silver, chances are my closest ally is going home this round, Zoe Jonathan and Ari may pick me up if I'm from a minority tribe but dump me very quickly. From my POV the cards are not in my favor, all I have are my advantages so the path of chaos is more beneficial plus I'm sure it's spread I'm pretty good at immunities in merge so they're gonna try to take me out early on like round 1 or 2, So if I want any chance I need to play the following way Since I cannot depend on social connections as much as I normally would 1. Make sure my existing social connections are voted out so that I am not in the group where I don't have the best social connections but I have enough that it is worrisome 2. Play my advantages early in merge if I don't win immunity, cementing myself as a big target 3. Convince people that nobody will take me deep into the game because I have placed myself in the position of a big target 4. Try to get the people that would be 100% against me voted out, while also watching Andro tribe majority. Basically making Andro and Trian fight each other 5. Win immunities near the end and somehow make it deep??? That's my best case scenario at this point in my opinion.

So like we won immunity . Wow see what happens when we actually try? Isn’t that nice . Idc who goes really I can make new bonds or whatever with people if silver goes but in the ideal scenario he will stay. But tbh I have no power over what happens tonight so I don’t care. Hoping merge happens next

ok so i have a little cute vote chat for me jules and mj. mj is spilling EVERYTHING abt his OG tribe including how they blindsided my wife pippa... rude. also abt his idol searches. he's a smart cookie and one to watch for but i also like him and need friends so<3
Tumblr media
THIS SUCKS SO MUCHHHHHH ALI I AM SO SORRY
Tumblr media
Having to remind myself that is entirely okay to be vengeful and even be blinded by revenge in these games. I've become way too soft for these things in the past couple of years. As of right now, tonight's tribal council should be 2-1-1, since Zach is skipping -- 2 votes for Silver (Asya, Jules), 1 vote Jules (Silver), and 1 vote Asya (me). If Silver's 50/50 coin lands on SAFE, the it’ll tie between Aysa and Jules and I think I’ll get auto-eliminated if it’s rocks instead of a 1v1 tiebreaker, and I’m OK with that I think! If it lands on NOT SAFE then Silver is leaving, period! And Silver deserves to leave, and I shouldn't feel nervous about taking this shot, no matter if it backfires or not. It makes me feel icky to think that Nathan, Jessie, and Silver were in cahoots from the very start and I didn't care enough to control my own game because I've become too accustomed to jellyfishing my way through ORGs to avoid being pinpointed as a leader or strategist. I'm putting my foot down tonight. I'm taking this shot and if it works, then it's merely the beginning of the end for half of the remaining cast as far as I'm concerned. If it backfires, then oh well, at least I tried something here. NO REGRETS! Anyway, just had the first alliance call with Aysa and Jules and it was great! Good vibes! We just chit-chatted and discussed strategy and previous dynamics. It will be a shame if we don’t get to push forward together after tonight. I’m also telling Silver right now not to play the 50/50 befcause if it doesn’t land on safe then the vote will be 3-2 if Aysa is lying; and if Aysa is telling the truth then he’s wasting a power that he could have later on. It kinda makes no sense for him to use the 50/50 considering the information he’s being told. I’m fine with pitching this to him because he said he was 100% gonna use it anyway, so me telling him not to will either leave things the same or result in him not using it at all. There’s no losing there. The only way to lose is if it lands on safe. The savage in me is saying, no MJ don’t let yourself get auto-eliminated if things go south, CUT JULES! And I realize that that’s exactly how I should be thinking given the first two lines of this confessional!!! But I wanna be a risk taker. I’m fine with this blowing up because the potential reward is greater than me being auto-eliminated. + Jack was rocked out last season so it would be cute to match that if it comes down to it! I hope it doesn’t, but it’s fine either way. I feel like this game owes me. Silver's 50/50 will not land on safe.
ALSO on this alliance call, I was informed that the adventure reset?!?!?!?! AND I HAVEN'T DONE THEM IN A WEEK???? LMFAOOOOO anyway.
Tumblr media
AHHHH why did I volunteer to go first in the challenge ugh I remembered the wrong shit lol. But this tribal I dont think I have to use my 50/50 since asya doesn't wanna go to rock so she'll vote Jules with us. So yeah I think I'll be ok. Asya told me Jules is voting MJ. I'm just hoping this isnt gonna be a big blindside towards me but yeah wish me luck
Tumblr media
okay, here's the plan. silver has the glowing orb 50/50 coin thing. i expect him to play it. silver's voting me. im voting silver and so is asya. mj is king of the key here. if mj votes silver and the orb makes him safe, then im gone. if mj votes asya (hang on, ive just had a realization and just had to sit in silence for a while whilst i process it.) okay. if mj votes asya and the coin makes silver safe, it'll be 2-1-1, with a tie between me and asya. which im just now realizing could send it to rocks where mj would be the one leaving............. boy howdy, sure wish i knew how to count. okay, yeah. we'll just hope that the coin lands on NOT SAFE -or- he doesnt play it at all. mj and asya are telling him that they're voting me out, so maybe he'll feel comfy enough not to use it. i dont WANT asya to be voted out, but it's better than me or mj being the vote. if mj gets rocked out by default because i didnt realize how to count....... oops!!! but silver has a bunch of advantages, so him getting voted out would flush those out. asya has an immunity shard and id like to think that she'd will it to me if she gets voted out, but eye dee kay!
Tumblr media
AHHH sorry this is coming so late but I've had a busy busy few days, and luckily I've avoided tribal during this time lol So before I was feeling a bit shaky on this tribe, I felt like everyone was more connected to each other than to me. But as it turns out, that's completely untrue and I feel very at the center of this tribe. Nathan and I have had multiple long talks recently where we've decided that we want to stick together deep into this game, and he's given me some info about how he and Silver gave up their immunity shards to Jessie, so she has an idol now. Cindi and I have a connection from our original tribe too and I've been keeping up on that relationship too. I gave her a clue I found during an expedition but nothing really came of it since it's, as far as I can tell, impossible to decipher. If we did end up going to tribal, I would have made a push to take out Jessie TBH, even though she has the idol. I feel like even if Nathan wasn't for it, they'd go for Cindi and not me. But luckily that doesn't matter because we're immune and likely heading for a merge in the next 30 minutes. And if not a merge, than another swap bc I think y'all hosts anticipated that one tribe could have lost all of the last 3 immunities and I don't think you want a 2 person tribe at the f11. But yeah I feel really good about my place in the game, I want Nathan to be my shield for the time being bc he's so vocal and strategic that he will always be a target ahead of me.
Tumblr media
I have put so much work in to stay
I BETTER STAY
All this fighting for nothing smh <3 it is not looking good

@jay-tee-key Oh, if you are still in need of prompts, can I have kalluzeb with sick Zeb and Kallus as grumpy, but very caring nurse? ((Not sure if this is as much ‘grumpy’ as it is ‘tired with Zeb’s shit’, but I tried!))
“Lay back down. Now.”
Zeb sat on the edge of the bed, nausea making his head spin and vision blur. His hands braced the mattress to hold him up, feet brushing the ground as he swung them lazily. Muscles screamed for him to go that one step further- to stand and to move and to use them after having lain still for so long- but the snapping voice penetrated and obliterated any thought of escape.
Green eyes blinked into focus, making out the image of the intruder standing in the doorway. A frown tugged on the human’s lips, contorting his expression into one of immense displeasure, and his arms were crossed over his chest, fingers drumming in time with the tapping of his foot. Inwardly, Zeb groaned.
“Yes, Mum,” he muttered, loosening his grip enough on the bed to flop back, internally amused by the bounce of the mattress under his sudden weight; an error, it appeared, since the motion stirred up another bout of sickness in his gut. Damn Geonosis…
“Don’t sound so grateful,” Kallus retorted, finally stepping fully into the room and over to the bed. Save for Hera, he’d been the only one brave enough to breathe the same air as the ailing Lasat. He did, however, have enough sense to wear gloves. “Swamp flu is miserable, I know. It won’t kill you, but you won’t heal any faster if you keep disturbing yourself. Trust me.”
A gloved hand pressed against his forehead, the sensitive skin of his inner wrist feeling through latex to deduce temperature. Zeb closed his eyes, letting out a long sigh and relaxing faintly under the touch. One benefit of Lasan harboring a variety of terrains (from forests to mountains to plains) was a natural immunity to a large myriad of diseases which could easily incapacitate a weaker species. Humans, no matter how resilient, were subject to contracting diseases before building up defenses- a bit retroactive, if you asked him, but it worked for them. And allergies- oh, allergies bewildered him to no end. Whenever they landed on a planet in its blooming season, all of the Ghost’s resident humans spent the next handful of days sneezing and sniffling without real cause. On one occasion, Kallus himself had been the victim of a hornet’s wrath and had swollen up so awfully… He insisted that everything was fine, but Zeb hadn’t been too convinced. There were certain foods Ezra couldn’t eat, or his throat would close up, but he consumed them regardless. He swore that the reaction wasn’t too severe- that it was just a little dose of discomfort more than actual danger- but Zeb didn’t like it one bit. No, humans were fragile- much more so than Lasat- so, one could only imagine his surprise when he was the only one who contracted the Swamp Flu after their last rendezvous on Geonosis.
“Bah…” Zeb huffed in response, though he made no move to defy his self-proclaimed caretaker. Hells, he would glue himself to the bed if it meant that he wouldn’t retract his touch. If the sickness itself wasn’t enough, sleeping alone in cold sweats had emphasized the misery of his condition.“I suppose ya speak from experience?”
“Personal experience? No,” Kallus confessed, letting his hand trail from his sick lover’s forehead to the crook behind his ears and stroking comfortingly. The gentle purr was more tangible than audible, and, had he not been fussing so fervently over this fool Lasat, it would have made him smile. “But I do have experience in caring for people who did.”
Slowly, one green eye opened, brow arched curiously. “Ya don’t strike me as the nursing type.”
Kallus pursed his lips, retracting his hand just to see him pout. “Then what, exactly, do you think I’m doing here?”
The second eye joined the first, a teasing glint shining in otherwise sick-heavy orbs. “Caterin’ to me, of course,” he mused, groping bonelessly for Kallus’s hand. “‘Sides, this is what ya signed up for when you agreed to be my partner. You're obligated.”
“Obligated, hm?” Kallus mused, taking pity on Zeb and taking his hand, thumb tracing aimlessly over his knuckles. “Any way I could cut the contract?”
“Nope,” he replied easily, flashing a cheeky smile. “You're stuck with me.”
“Blast. You're lucky I love you, you big, purple oaf.” The words didn't hold a drop of animosity- if anything, they were coated with that strange kind of affection their banter always held. He caressed his hand, cradling it between his own as he sighed. Somehow, even though he'd come in fully intent on scolding his rebellious idiot of a boyfriend, he'd wound up beside him in the special, peaceful atmosphere only a statement of love could create.
“...It was a couple months before Onderon,” Kallus started, closing his own eyes to recount his history. While he didn't necessarily mind talking about his first battalion, there was always that melancholy trickle of sentiment that went along with it. So long as he didn't venture past that first blast- so long as he restricted himself to the quirky little anecdotes he'd maintained in their memory- he should be fine. Nevertheless, he appreciated the way Zeb’s grip on his hand tightened fractionally.
“We'd been scoping out Geonosis when the first wave hit. Baxter and Sting were the first ones to go down, and, since we hadn't been aware of the excessive transmissibility, it spread like wildfire. Somehow, I was the only one who didn't get sucker punched by this disease, so I was knee deep in my squad’s vomit and taking care of them until Commander Reste answered our beacon.” He opened his eyes when his tale was interrupted by a low, rumbling chuckle that quickly morphed into a rasping cough. Arching a brow, he soothed his lover’s hand through his coughing fit patiently. “Something...amusing?”
Coming down from the abuse of his throat, Zeb blinked back tears and shook his head. “Ah.. I’m just imagining you like that. You, the guy who can’t have a single kriffing hair out of line, playing healer droid to a bunch of sweaty, pukey, germy- hey!”
“Yes, yes, I get it!” Kallus snapped, fresh from having given Zeb a gentle blow to the arm. “And now I’m here, sitting beside a sweaty, pukey, germy, smelly Lasat! Of all the awful things!” he exclaimed, his pout vacillating between irritated and amused. “One that can’t even manage to stay in bed, to say the least.”
“It’s boring,” Zeb protested, crossing his arms over his chest. If he had anything to say about it, the entire bug would come out with one final, hearty heave, but his own voice was silenced in the matter. Yet, it was moments like these when Kallus’s face let his true frustrations shine through, he couldn’t help but feel guilty. “Doin’ nothin’ but lay here all day. Then at night, you’re not with me. It gets cold, and ah… And a little lonely, too. I don’t mean to get you upset, but I just can’t stay here…”
The frown on Kallus’s face deepened, though the light in his eyes appeared more pitifully pensive than irritated. The hand which had struck him moments earlier brushed over his cheek, prompting Zeb to nuzzle into it. A soft sigh broke the tentative silence between them.
“......Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt if I set up a cot down here,” Kallus suggested eventually, gesturing to the floor that, save for a couple trash baskets, was rather vacant. “I do seem to have some sort of immunity to it, after all. And I suppose I haven’t been as attentive as I could have been…”
“Karabast, Kal. Do you hear yourself?” Zeb interrupted. “You haven’t been leaving me alone! When you caught me earlier, it was the first time I’ve been able to get off my back. Not that I’m complaining, of course. I, ah…” He moistened his lips, a shy smile gracing them as he looked up at his lover. “I guess I kinda like this, you caring for me like this. Spending time with you and all. Just wish it wasn’t like this…”
At this, Kallus’s expression softened into one of affectionate understanding. “I understand. I would much prefer to be around you if you weren’t prime to vomit on me at any moment,” he confessed, resuming his gentle caress of Zeb’s cheek. “Once you’re feeling better, we can set up an excursion, if you like. I’m still the only crew member here who hasn’t visited Lira San..?”
Zeb snorted, dancing on the edge of a sneeze before regaining his grip. “And I think it’s gonna stay that way, too. No offense,” he tacked on, greeted by Kallus’s coy smile as a response. “But, yeah. I’d like that. No missions, no danger-”
“-I wouldn’t go that far.”
“Alright, alright. No kids. No duties. Just us. And no flu.”
Kallus smirked. “And that, my dear Garazeb, is the most important part.” With that, the human rose from where he rested by the bed and stretched out his leg with a wince. That bum leg… They really needed to get that checked out, but they’ve yet to find the time…
“Where are you going?” Zeb asked, feeling the sudden loss of contact as a pull on his heartstrings, tempting him to trail after the other man.
“To get the preparations for the cot, of course. Unless you’ve changed your mind about sleeping alone?”
Slightly relieved by the reassurance, the Lasat allowed a spark of humor to slip back into his demeanor as he lay back once again. “Mm… I think I’d much rather have you up here with me…”
Kallus arched a brow, the smirk on his lips growing wider and the glimmer in his eyes growing fonder with every passing second. Crossing his arms, he spoke with a single shake of his head. “Well then. If you can somehow magically cure yourself by the time I get back with the cot, I’ll join you in your bunk. Until then, I’ll get what I need.”
This time, when he watched his lover leave, that phantom longing which was usually left in his wake was nowhere to be found. Having spent the last few days as the prisoner of this pesky pathogen, Zeb was more than ready to shed it, especially with the promise of Kallus as a reward.
Then again, he thought with a smile, skin prickling where Kallus had petted him so gently- treated him so lovingly and carefully, Maybe this isn’t all that bad.

Wu Is Going to Die theory: ROUND TWO WITH NEW EVIDENCE
HOLY CRAP GUYS I MADE THIS THEORY MONTHS AGO AND IT GOT 0 NOTES.
AND NOW TOMMY JUST GAVE ME EVEN MORE EVIDENCE TO BACK IT UP.
HOLD ON EVERYBODY IMMA CONVINCE YOU ALL THAT SENSEI’S GONNA DIE.
Thesis
In this theory, I will be making and explaining my assertions that Wu is going to die, and Lloyd will take his place. There is much evidence to support this. First, we have the trailer and the words in it. Second, we have some heavy foreshadowing in the past that points to Sensei Wu dying, as well as Lloyd replacing him as the new Sensei. Third, we have an official tweet from Tommy Andreasen that ties up the whole theory.
Evidence
part 1: trailer
First, let’s talk about the trailer. Here are Wu’s exact words:
“I made a mistake. There is much to tell you, and not much time.”
Next we see Zane hooked up to a computer, supposedly talking to Sensei. He says:
“Master, are you alright?”
Then we go back to Wu:
“I fear not. I’ve been waiting decades. This ends now. Control time, control everything.”
Well, that seems awfully foreshadowy. A lot of thought and care goes into trailers to make people excited about whatever it’s previewing. So there must be meaning to these quotes, unless they’re gonna pull a Rogue One and have most of the stuff in the trailers be from scenes that didn’t make the final cut (don’t get me wrong, Rogue One was awesome, it’s just kind of weird that most of what was in those trailers was a bit misleading). Let’s break down these quotes and analyze them.
First we have “I made a mistake.” Well, it’s not the first time that’s happened. Morro was a big mistake of Wu’s, and so was not telling the Ninja about him. So we know that Wu plus mistakes equals bad stuff.
Next we have “There is much to tell you, and not much time.” Why is there not enough time? Is it because the villain is coming for them? Maybe. Or is it something else? Well, our next piece of Wu’s dialogue hints at that.
But first let’s mention Zane’s line. “Master, are you alright?” With the mood of the trailer being a suspenseful one, we can put a pretty safe bet on him not being alright.
Wu’s next lines seem to tie this theory up. “I fear not,” he says. Fear what? The villain? Or is it death? Listen to his tone while he speaks. It is full of finality, and a hint of regret. Next he says, “I’ve been waiting decades.” Well, considering Sensei’s age, we can kind of imagine that he’s been waiting for the day he’d finally leave this world. But the second-to-last line is the real clincher that ties up this part of my claim. “This ends now.” You can just hear the determination in Wu’s voice here. It’s as if he knows what’s going to happen next, and that he is ready for it. Ready for his time to draw to a close. And he knows that he can leave the ninja now, because whether they think they do or not, they have what it takes to be on their own. In the past few seasons, they’ve done quite fine without him. This leads me to my next claim: that Lloyd is going to take Sensei’s place.
part 2: foreshadowing in previous seasons
Foreshadowing plays a crucial role in this argument. We know from season 5’s ending that Lloyd is on the path to becoming a sensei. In the first episode of season 6, we even hear him say, “But I’m only a Sensei-in-training!” We also know from season 4 onward that Lloyd is an excellent leader, so he’s already got that down. But there’s a key piece of foreshadowing that we see in season 6 that seems to point to Lloyd taking the reins: him growing into an old man.
Ninjago’s foreshadowing is known for being… convoluted, for lack of a better word. There are three notable examples of this: Cole becoming a ghost, Nya’s death, and Jay’s last wish. For Cole, during season 4 they kept showering him with flour, making him completely white, and he even said to a guard looking at him, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” Nya’s death was foreshadowed when she spilled ketchup on Jay’s shirt - in the exact same place and the exact same shape as the tiger widow venom when it hit her. Jay’s last wish is foreshadowed in the very first episode of the season, when they played the wish chime after Nya said, “What do you mean right now? And what exactly are you implying by ‘we?’” So now they have foreshadowed Lloyd taking over as Sensei by aging him up yet again, this time into a wise old man around the age that we would imagine a sensei to be.
UPDATE!
part 3: Tommy Andreasen’s tweet
Here’s the question and the response tweet word-for-word.
RadicalGamer81: In future seasons will Wu ever canonically use his powers besides summoning his Dragon or Spinjitzu?
Tommy Andreasen: I can’t confirm that Wu will be in future seasons.
HOLY CANNOLI WITH TONS OF TOMATO SAUCE.
Tommy himself just said he can’t tell us if Wu will be in future seasons. If THAT doesn’t raise a red flag, I have no clue what does. I mean, sure it’s still kind of vague, but look at that wording.
“I can’t confirm.”
Not “I can’t confirm or deny.” It’s “I can’t confirm.” That question was completely unrelated to whether Wu was going to die or not. It was just asking if we’d see more Wu powers.
But Tommy didn’t answer it with “yes,” or “no,” or even “keep watching.” He said “I can’t confirm that Wu will be in future seasons.”
Conclusion
So, in conclusion (finally), next season is going to be a huge game-changer. Not only is Sensei leaving us for the last time, but we are finally going to see Lloyd taking up the staff and following in the footsteps of his father, his uncle, and his grandfather.
