If someone asks me how work has been lately I just reply, "oh, you know, just working on my spreadsheet" and they laugh like I have just made a funny joke about how so much of work these days is pointlessly futile bureaucracy that slowly hollows out your soul but actually I made up a little game where we try to guess the CMYK values of a colour swatch and we're a couple of months in now and I am, on the clock, slowly building out this very very complicated spreadsheet that will work out for us who, at the end of the year, wins a $20 gift card for the bakery next door.

An Update to the Kissing Multiverse!

Well, Only Friends and Dangerous Romance are over, so I am back with another GMMTV Kissing Multiverse update for you all. And boy howdy it is a doozy. We've added 16 shows, 19 actors, and 33 unique kissing pairs!
Rules
Must have visible lip to lip contact
Must be shown on screen in a GMM tv series (no kisses from ads, promotional content, trailers*, movies, etc.)
*please note this means none of the GMMTV 2024 trailers count

Results and Discussion
Unique vs. Repeat Kissing Pairs
Last time round we learned that the vast majority of GMMTV kissing pairs are one-offs and that mixed gender pairs were less likely to repeat. Those conclusions hold true for this update.
There are 169 "unique" kissing pairs in the dataset, and of those, 156 (92.3%) appear only once, in one show. 13 pairs (7.7%) appear at least twice.

The kissing pair that has appeared in the most shows is Gun/Off, with 4 shows out as of now (and 2 more in the works!).
10 out of 13 of these repeating pairs (77%) are same gender pairs, specifically BL branded or brand-adjacent pairs. Once again, an interesting look into the GMMTV het vs BL system.
All in all, 97% of mixed gender pairs and 85% of same gender pairs appear only once, in one show.

Same Gender vs. Mixed Gender Kissing Pairs
Of the 169 "unique" kissing pairs, roughly 60% are mixed gender pairs and roughly 39% are same gender pairs. This ratio has shifted slightly from the last update (when it was 59% mixed gender and 41% same gender) as I have added more het shows to the sample.

Now to look at the shows themselves: 35% of the shows had only same gender kissing pairs, 47% of the shows had only mixed gender kissing pairs, and 18% of the shows featured both. You will notice that this is a 8% increase in favour of "mixed gender kissing only" shows compared to the last update which is due to the number of het shows I added this update.

Most Kissing Pairs Per Show
The average number of kissing pairs per show is 2.4.
The shows with the most different kissing pairs are:
Only Friends (16 different pairs)
The Warp Effect (15 different pairs)
Friendzone (11 different pairs)
The Jungle and U-Prince (9 different pairs each)
The Player (7 different pairs)
Not Me, Three Gentlebros, and 3 Will Be Free have 4 different kissing pairs each, and then all other shows have 3 or fewer kissing pairs each.

We hit 9 kissing pairs in ep. 9, 10 pairs in ep. 10, 11 pairs in ep. 11, and 12(+) pairs in ep. 12. Very satisfying.
The Power of Jojo
Jojo, every series:

As we've learned over these past updates, Jojo has an outsized impact on the number of kissing pairs. He has directed roughly 10% of the shows in this sample, but his shows account for nearly a third of all kissing pairs (32%). Half of Jojo's shows are in the top 6 for most kissing pairs per show (Only Friends, The Warp Effect, Friendzone, and The Player).
The average number of kissing pairs in a Jojo show is 7.4, compared to 1.8 for non-Jojo shows.

Interesting to note: last update, the average number of kissing pairs per show for Jojo shows was 6.0 (1.4 lower) and the average for non-Jojo shows was the same (1.8). Only Friends had quite the impact.
(note: in this section, I am just looking at kissing pair iterations here not at unique kissing pairs, e.g., Phuwin/Pond are a pair in two shows (once in a Jojo show and once in a non-Jojo show), so they are counted twice.)
Most Kissing Partners
First, to put this in context: 50.4% of the actors in this sample have only had one kissing partner. The average number of kissing partners per actor is 2.6 (an increase of 0.3 from last update - again, possibly due to Only Friends).
We've had some significant changes in the leader board this update. Previously, our top 5 were Joss (10 kissing partners), Lee and Namtan (9 each), and Ohm and Nanon (7 each).
Welcome our new leader, Lee, with 12 kissing partners!
Krist takes the second spot (11 different kissing partners), followed by Joss (10), Namtan (9) and First (8) to round out our top five.

Next we have Gigie, Mild, Nanon, New, Off, and Ohm with 7 different kissing partners each; Film, Mond, Mook, Neo, and Singto with 6 kissing partners each; and Bright, Fluke Pusit, Jan, Khaotung, and Mark Pakin with 5 kissing partners each. There are also eleven actors with 4 different partners, and fifteen actors with 3 different partners each.
This update sees an astonishing 6 new kissing partners for Krist and 3 for First, catapulting them into the top 5. The impact of Only Friends can't be denied either - it increased every one of its actors' total kissing partners, and pushed Mond, Neo, Khaotung, and Mark Pakin up into the upper echelons, along with First, of course.
Most Kissing Partners in One Show
We have a new reigning champion for "Most Kissing Partners in One Show"! Thanks to his tireless hard work in Only Friends kissing 5 different people, Neo rockets to the top of the list.

We now have seven people who have kissed 4 different people in one show thanks to Only Friends (First, Mark Pakin, and Mond in Only Friends; Fluke Pusit, Gigie, and New in The Warp Effect; and Plustor in Friendzone), and eight cases of people kissing 3 different people in one show (Book, Force, and Khaotung in Only Friends; Joss and Namtan in The Player; Joss again in 3 Will Be Free; Krist in The Jungle; and Singto in Friendzone).
Please note that all of these instances (except for Krist in The Jungle) happened in Jojo shows.
In total, there are 52 instances of people kissing more than one person in a show, and 31% of actors in the sample have kissed more than one person in a show at least once.
Which of the GMMTV boys has kissed the most guys?
Last update we had a five-way tie for first place between First, Fluke Pusit, Neo, Plustor, and Singto, with 4 men kissed each. Only Friends has significantly changed the situation.
Congratulations to First for taking first place in the men kissing men category, with 7 men kissed! Next we have Neo in second place (6 men kissed) and Khaotung in third (5 men kissed).

Level Up Post: Mighty Nein: Echoes of the Solstice: The Speculation Version
DO NOT POST SPOILERS ON THIS IF YOU ARE AT THE LIVE SHOW IN PERSON. YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.
So here's the deal: I don't know what level they'll be (18-20), I am frankly assuming they level up in the first place (but like. why wouldn't they) and I'm going to have to make a bunch of assumptions, but here is a manageable-ish, I hope, summary, to be refined once we know more. Also: I'm assuming we've got Caduceus rather than Kingsley (I DO NOT KNOW THIS FOR SURE DO NOT RELY ON THIS BEING THE TRUTH) but I will make a Kingsley post if that is not the case (short answer - I'd recommend solely leveling up in blood hunter). As always with level-ups: if there is a significant omission or an error, please let me know. If I simply did not choose the same spell or feat you did, feel free to reply with "ooh nice, what about [spell]" but do not send me asks or get weird and sanctimonious about having different thoughts on subjective assessments. Anyway, here's the pre-show version; I'll make a new post Friday if appropriate.
Fjord: Let's get Mr. Complicated Tusktooth Stone Lavorre out of the way. He is currently Warlock 12/Paladin 5. Warlocks get a mystic arcanum at level 13 (7th level spell once per day) as well as another known spell for regular casting, a subclass feature at 14 (Master of Hexes for Fjord, which allows him to move his hexblade's curse from creature to creature if the first dies), and a mystic arcanum (8th level) and another invocation and another spell at 15. Paladins, meanwhile, get Aura of Protection (+CHA mod, so 5, to all saving throws to himself and all allies within 10 feet) at level 6, a subclass feature at 7 (Aura of Liberation - he and allies within 10 feet cannot be grappled or restrained, can use 5 feet of movement to get out of prior restraints [THIS WOULD HELP BEAU IF SHE SHOWS UP CHAINED BTW], and ignore penalties to underwater attacks) as well as another L2 spell slot, and an ASI at 8; his lay on hands pool also scales up by 5 HP per level. My personal feeling is: for the next level, take paladin level 6, which gives him and anyone within the aura +5 to all saves so long as he is not incapacitated; paladin auras are ridiculously good and every day I wish someone would play paladin straight through in CR, for me, much as I adore Fjord and Vax's dips into it. For his 19th level, I'd either take paladin 7 for the aura of liberation, or take warlock 13, which grants the mystic arcanum of which I'd take Etherealness, probably, or possibly Forcecage; the clerics can handle Plane Shift, and Finger of Death seems off-brand. He also gets another regular spell of which there are many; Contact Other Plane might not work under these conditions so I'm leaning towards Dream, which is just a great weird spell few people take, but also he could take a low level spell given he has paladin spell slots. And for 20th, take the one he didn't take for 19, for a final 13 Warlock/7 Paladin split.
Beau: Much more straightforward in comparison...but let's talk about the leveling up process. Level 18 grants Empty Body, in which she can spend 4 ki to be invisible for 1 minute and resistant to all damage other than force damage, or she can spend 8 ki to cast astral projection on herself alone, which is just hilarious and great and I would like to see it. She also increases her speed to 60 feet. Level 19 is an ASI/Feat; her stats are great so I say take Mobile because it's funny to make her normal speed 70 feet/round, or mage slayer for obvious narrative and "Beau, don't you want to pull a Cerrit on Ludinus" reasons. The capstone monk level kind of sucks (4 ki points back if she's tapped when rolling for initiative) but I don't have a good multiclass for her in mind so may as well ride it out. And of course she gets a ki point per level.
Caleb: Perhaps the only person for whom level 18 is actually fun (other than the multiclassed characters), at level 18 he gets to pick a 1st and 2nd level wizard spell in his spell book that he can cast at will. He can exchange these, but it requires 8 hours of study, so probably what he has going in to this show is what he has for the show. 19 is again a Feat/ASI, and honestly a con or dex boost never hurts a wizard. Level 20 gives him two 3rd level spells in his spellbook that he can cast once per rest (long or short) without using a spell slot. Might I suggest counterspell as one of them? And both he and the clerics gain extra high level spell slots at each level (5th, 6th, and 7th at levels 18, 19, and 20 respectively).
Veth: So she is actually trickier than Fjord, as the multiclassed character, in that I'm less sure how to split it out, but we'll go through the options: Level 17 in rogue grants her the ability to temporarily steal spells from another spellcaster who attacks her (Spell Thief) which is GREAT and she should definitely take it. Level 18 is Elusive; as long as she is not incapacitated, attack rolls cannot have advantage on her. And Level 19 is an ASI/Feat and an increase in sneak attack dice and also grants her a fourth level spell slot and new spell to go with it, which must be enchantment or illusion; Greater Invisibility seems like the obvious choice. I'd take the ASI to INT. On the other hand, if she pursues more wizard levels, Level 2 would give her a subclass and its features and another 1st level spell slot (and 2 more spells), Level 3 would give her 2nd level wizard spells and corresponding spell slots (and again, 2 more spells in her spellbook), and Level 4 is an ASI/Feat, a cantrip, and another 2nd level spell slot. I say take L17 in rogue first, then get a wizard subclass (transmutation does seem obvious for a number of reasons though abjuration, illusion, and divination have better L2 features and illusion makes narrative sense - divination would simply be hilarious), then take her final level in rogue for Elusive; but with both Veth and Fjord I think there's an obvious level to take (L17 rogue for Veth, L6 paladin for Fjord) and after that I respect Sam and Travis to pick what feels right.
Jester and Caduceus: At level 18, they can channel divinity 3 times per rest rather than 2. At level 19, they take ASIs, which honestly are up in the air for me - I'm excited to see what they pick, though @captainofthetidesbreath suggested Eldritch Adept for Jester which I would enjoy, and we haven't seen Caduceus's feat from the final episode yet which means I'm not sure about what he might take as a new one, though I'm personally always a fan of Chef. And at L20 divine intervention is guaranteed (though you can only use it once per week)...but to be honest if they are level 20, I am expecting this to be nerfed for solstice reasons because it is kind of game-breaking.
Yasha: So here's the thing. Barbarian 18-19 is kind of eh and 20 is good but not amazing. She could take it; she'd get indomitable might at 18 (treat any strength check as her strength score, 18, if she rolls lower than that), an ASI/Feat at 19, and her strength and con jump up by 4 each (and can exceed 20) - this would put her at 18 CON and 22 STR, assuming she doesn't increase either with the ASI (and to be fair I would take the ASI to strength). This is solid and entirely valid as a choice. HOWEVER, might I suggest the Grog move of taking her final three levels in fighter, which would give her a fighting style and second wind at L1, action surge at L2, and an archetype and its 3rd level features at L3. I like how Battle Master feels for Yasha but really it's that action surge that makes this great; Rune Knight or Champion are also decent options.

Amber’s passive: decreases gliding stamina for party by 20%
Kazuhas skill: lifts kazuha with a gust if wind; can be used midair
Double anemo resonance: decreases stamina consumption by 15%. Increases movement speed by 10% (i don’t think this effects gliding). Shortens skill countdown by 5%.
Delicious barbatos ratatouille: decreases all party members’ gliding (and sprinting, not relevant for this experiment) stamina consumption by 25% for 900 seconds
Starting location: tip of starsnatch cliff
Character gliding: kazuha in every round
Things to note: anemo resonance theoretically should be even more helpful with kazuhas skill due to the skill countdown decrease. Kazuha’s passive only decreases stamina consumption for sprinting, which does not count for gliding. All runs end in drowning to ensure the exact same start point. Once started, direction does not change. Runs without kazuhas skill start with a jump. Runs with kazuhas skill start with the held skill. All runs involving resonance feature a complete team. Other runs only feature the relevant character(s) for simplicity.
Hypothesis
You’ll get furthest with all four factors, next with kazuha and anemo, next with kazuha and amber, next with anemo and amber, next with kazuha, next with anemo, next with amber, and shortest with no bonuses.
Experiment process
I started by gliding off from the highest point of starsnatch cliff, heading towards the furthest point near the unmarked island near mondstadt. Upon finishing results, I determined i needed a second check, this time from a further point over the ocean. I couldn’t remember if i had a stamina food going for some of them. I then realized there was a fourth factor i was forgetting: stamina food. I also didn’t like the irregularity of my gliding trajectories. I determined i needed to restart.

Experiment Process 2
I decided to aim for musk reef for better accuracy and distance. I started with the control, then added factors from there. At the end of each run, i marked the finish location on the map before the character hit the water/died. I saved all food related runs for last.
Test was done on PC. Screenshots were taken on Mobile.

Brya's Love Breakdown
Finally got the pattern for the new Void Precision Scout Rifle, Brya's Love. So let's talk perks, stats, and buildcrafting.

First of all, it's gorgeous. I love the D1 scout models so this being a Void flavored Vision of Confluence was an instant win. And while the IS scope isn't my favorite, it's clean with a very prominent red dot. The ornate details along the edge of the sight can be a little obstructive especially when comparing it to its older sister, Doom of Chelchis, which has one of the best sights in the game.
Speaking of Doom, how does this new one stack up.

Comparing both with just Arrowhead Brake, Steady Rounds, a Stability masterwork, and Icarus, which is how I'd recommend setting either of these up, Doom is objectively the stronger of the 2. No surprise given it's a Raid chase and not a seasonal weapon you can grind out the pattern for in a week. But tbh, it really isn't that much better. And once we factor in perks both scouts are able to clear out a niche for themsleves.
Doom's strength comes from the ability to run Explosive Payload with a damage perk like Frenzy or One-For-All. Remember, EP deals a bonus 15% damage in PvE for free. While Brya's can get Explosive Payload as well, it is locked to the 4th column with the rest of the damage perks.
Where Brya's is able to catch back up is in the sheer value of the perks in both columns. While Doom can get some nutty combos, not every perk it has is valuable. Brya's literally doesn't have any bad options. I might even wind up crafting multiple rolls. So let's talk about it.

Barrels:
At base, Brya's has 78 recoil direction. Which is the highest natural RD of any 180 scout HOWEVER it is the furthest from a centered recoil pattern. Remember, if it's not 100, you want your RD to be as close to ending in 5 as possible. I.e. 55, 75, 85, etc. will tend to be more vertical. Something like 63 will bounce left; 78 will bounce right. So I recommend just going for Arrowhead to make it 100 and be done with it. The handling bump is nice too. If you don't care about RD, which is completely valid, go for stability or handling. Fluted and Smallbore are 2 favorites.
Magazine:
This one is a bit more to taste. I like the consistency Stead Rounds give and the AE bump is a nice bonus. Tactical Mag, Flared Magwell, or Appended are also great choices.
3rd Column:
Here's where it starts getting good. Keep Away is free Range (10), Reload Speed (30), and Accuracy (5%, 7.5% w/Enhanced) just for operating in your intended range (15m away from enemies). Even with perks like Rapid Hit and No Distractions this one is my go to for a PvP roll. The bonus Range reverses the -5 you get from Steady Rounds and the Accuracy bonus is actually very impactful imo. You'll hit shots you had no business landing.
Loose Change, while good in concept, isn't strong enough nor does it last long enough. Even when running it with a Gyrfalcon build. I'd love to see it buffed. It has good potential.
Perpetual Motion is a great perk. Just not on this scout. Especially if you're trying to use the Head Rush trait perk.
Perfect Float is a good perk especially when pairing with Frenzy.
Shoot to Loot is always solid. Especially now that it works with Orbs and Explosive Payload.
Rapid Hit will always be strong. Especially if you synergize it with a new 4th column perk.
No Distractions is a personal favorite. Use it with EP to become a dueling king. Literally an Energy Tears of Contrition.
4th Column:
Precision Instrument is crazy. Rapid hits will increase precision damage. It's literally precision Target Lock. And like Target Lock, it will reduce ttks against certain resiliences in Crucible. Non enhanced will let you 3 tap T4 res and below (enhanced will bump that up to T5) for a .67 ttk. Very strong. A free 3 tap with no activation cost. Think Luna's Howl but on a much stricter timer and res gated. However, the likelihood of running into T5 res or lower is very unlikely in the Crucible rn with Titans being as strong as they are. Still strong tho.
Explosive Payload. You know it. You love it. I will never fault anyone for picking it. It's always a good scout perk.
Frenzy. Also strong on the archetype. Will allow 3 crits while active. The bonus 100 reload and handling are the best parts imo.
Adagio. Sleeper pick. Reduces RPM to 150 but allows a 2 crit 1 body. Great post kill perk. Damage output of a Radiant 150 scout but with the stat package of a 180.
Pugilist. Skip it. Use Monte Carlo. Stab the Witness.
Golden Tricorn. The king of damage perks. 15% for 7s after a kill will allow a 3 tap at all resiliences. 50% for 10s if you get an ability kill with x1 is active. If you get Tricorn x2 and also Radiant, you can 2 tap. But good luck with that setup.
Destabilizing Rounds. New for a scout. Great choice. Synergizes well with all Void classes but especially a Stylish Executioner hunter or Controlled Demo titan.
Recommendations and Closing Thoughts:
All great perks. Any combination of which I would recommend but let me give a handful:
PVE: Shoot-To-Loot/Explosive Payload. Perfect Float/Frenzy. Loose Change/Destablizing Rounds. Rapid Hit or Keep Away/Golden Tricorn.
PVP: No Distractions/Explosive Rounds. Perpetual Motion/Frenzy. Rapid Hit or Keep Away/Precision Instrument. Rapid Hit/Adagio.
And that's it! It's a very strong scout. I was initially disappointed to see another craftable void 180 but I was so throughly impressed once I got my hands on it. It feels better than Doom imo. Sounds better too. This is one that won't be leaving my inventory for some time.

Fate and Phantasms #8P: Altera

Today on Fate and Phantasms we’re taking another crack at the Scourge of God, Altera, a.k.a. Attila the Hun! If Attila was a robot anime girl, at least. She is a Champion which you’re probably getting sick of but like, it’s not my fault they stuffed all the laser swordswomen in the first 10 spots. We’ll also slip into the Ranger archetype to help her be a better nomad, the Barbarian archetype to destroy bad civs, and the Runescarred archetype entirely for the aesthetics. And a little bonus from Extella, I guess.

Ancestry and Background
Another servant that would’ve been Custom Lineage if she came out now, but thankfully Pathfinder has enough robot races to make this work. Specifically, Altera is an Android, giving you an ability boost in one of your choice like Strength as well as Intelligence and Dexterity, at the cost of a Charisma flaw. Altera’s pretty scary, but she’s not exactly great at talking to people. She also gets low-light vision, and thanks to being synthetic she gets a +1 bonus on saves against diseases, poisons, and radiation. She’s also emotionally unaware, giving her a -1 penalty to diplomacy and performance checks, as well as sense motive checks. Altera’s kingdom more came about from ass kicking, not smart internal politics.
At level one you become a Warrior Android, which doesn’t actually do much since you’d be trained in simple and martial weapons from your class anyway. The Cleansing Subroutine is nice though, it increases your ability to purge poisons, reducing the stage by one more than it would otherwise whenever you succeed your save. Natural Body for the win!
At level five your Inoculation Subroutine does the same thing against disease.
At level nine your Repair Module gives you fast healing for a minute once per day, giving you half your level in HP at the start of each turn, and it also prevents you from dying due to the dying condition. I wasn’t expecting a guts from this, but hey it’s free. The downside is it blocks you from using other nanite-based skills like your subroutines.
At thirteenth level you can activate a Nanite Surge once per hour as a reaction, adding +2 to a triggering skill check. It also makes your scars glow for a round, which is neat.
Finally at level 17 you gain an Offensive Subroutine. That doesn’t make you better at telling shitty jokes, but it does let you use your Nanite Surge on attack rolls for a +1 to the roll.
As a member of the Huns you are of course a Nomad, making you trained in Survival and Plains Lore. You also have Assurance in survival, letting you skip rolling to get a flat 10 + your proficiency bonus instead.
You also get another ability boost in Constitution and Strength. Swing sword, win fight, end civ. It’s nice to play a character whose flow chart is a single line sometimes.
Class levels
1. Okay, making this quick. You’re trained in Perception, Religion, Reflex, Class and Spell DCs, all weapons and armor, and as you level up in intelligence Nature, Diplomacy and Intimidation. You’re also an expert in fortitude and will saves.
Beyond that, you get an Ability Boost in Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma. That’s what you’re getting every time we level up, so get used to it.
We also dip into your Deity’s Domain a bit, and you can’t destroy a bad civ without some Destruction. This gives you the domain spell Cry of Destruction, a two-action spell that deals damage to every creature and object in a 15’ cone, and if you’ve already dealt damage before it gets even better, turning the damage from a d8 to a d12. It’s not quite an orbital laser, but by the end of the build it’ll be heightened to deal 10d12 in sonic damage, a type few things resist.
You’re chaotic good, so you obey the Tenets of Good and are a Liberator. So don’t do bad things, and respect people’s choices and freedom to make their own decisions. You can’t threaten anyone, so it’s a good thing you don’t kill people, you just destroy their civilizations. It’s a loophole, but it’s a bigun. You can use the Champion’s Reaction known as Liberating Step and can use Lay on Hands to heal people. The latter does pretty much what you expect, and the former lets you react to an enemy damaging, grabbing, or grappling a nearby ally, either granting them resistance to the triggering damage or giving them an extra chance to escape the effect. Regardless, they can then step as a free action. The Huns are pretty mobile. It’s kind of their thing.
You also get trained in Athletics to really beef up your strength.
Also, once again you can Shield Block, though you don’t use shields. Yet.
2. At second level your Resilient Mind gives you a +1 bonus against mental saves, and a +2 bonus if they’re caused by the undead. A brain is part of your Natural Body, I assume. Honestly you’re clearly not human, so who the fuck knows.
The crazy damage stuff will take a while, so for now we’ll work on your Hunnery. Pick up the Tame Animal feat to bring wild horses under your control, and then grab the Ranger Dedication to Hunt Prey, giving you a bonus to seeking and tracking prey you’ve either seen before or are currently tracking. Tyrants are bad civ, cut them down.
Since you’re already trained in survival, we’ll pick up Society instead. You’re a warrior king, but you’re still a king, politics aren’t completely foreign to you. Okay maybe they are, but take the training anyway.
3. At third level you gain a Divine Ally in your Blade, letting you put a property rune in one of your weapons each long rest while you wield it. As a champion of good, you can have a disrupting, ghost touch, returning, or shifting weapon, and for once the shifting is a good pick! It lets you turn your weapon into another weapon that uses the same number of hands, so your one-handed sword can turn into a whip and back again. Disrupting deals extra damage to undead, and ghost touch lets the weapon touch ghosts. Returning only works on thrown weapons so fuck it. You also gain the critical specialization of the weapon you’ve runed. A sword’s makes the target flat-footed for a round, while in whip form it will knock the creature prone, meaning they’re flat-footed and have to take an action to stand up. So, the whip finally has a leg up on any other weapon for a change! PF2E is wild coming from just 5e.
We also continue ruling the huns by grabbing the Ride feat, letting you use move commands on animals with automatic success, and they act on your turn as well. To stay on it better, we’ll up your training in Athletics.
4. At level four we get our last natural body buff in Divine Health, giving you another +1 bonus against disease, and any success against one is a critical success. It is really hard to make a robot sick.
For more physical buffs, becoming a Titan Wrestler helps you disarm, grapple, shove, or trip creatures up to two sizes larger than you, and even up to three sizes bigger once you’re legendary in athletics.
We also finally get some extra damage when we learn a Basic Hunter’s Trick, United Assault. You can make a strike as an action, but you can add 1 to the damage roll for each other creature that damaged it since the target’s last turn, up to +4. This only works once per turn, but extra damage is extra damage.
5. At fifth level you get expertise in Intimidation as well as all weapons. You also get another Ability Boost.
6. Sixth level is more exciting- if you want to deal more damage, more attacks will help. To get that, we can use an Attack of Opportunity to attack on the enemy’s turn if they’re trying to run away. Running away is completely understandable though, given your Intimidating Prowess, which gives you a +1 bonus to demoralization and coercion checks, plus you don’t have to know the target’s language. Turns out the Scourge of God is pretty scary to see in action- who knew? When your strength hits 20+ and you’re a master at intimidation, this will increase to a +2 bonus.
Finally, you learn an Advanced Hunter’s Trick, letting you turn your weapon into a Gravity Weapon. This increases your focus pool , and you can spend an action to empower your weapon for 1 minute, dealing extra damage equal to 2x your damage dice the first time you hit each turn.
7. Seventh level is another pretty quiet one. You’re now a master in Athletics, and your Weapon Specialization lets you deal extra damage the more proficient you are with a blade. You also have Armor Expertise even though you don’t use it, and you Die hard. I mean you’re a Diehard, so you die at dying 5, not dying 4.
8. Okay, enough pussyfootin around, it’s time for some serious damage! …After we get the Express Rider feat. Now you can make nature checks to speed up your horse while traveling.
Okay, now it’s damage time! Your Advanced Deity’s Domain gives you access to a Destructive Aura, giving every creature within 15’ of you (including you) a -2 to all resistances. And every four levels that increases by another 2, so by the time you’re level 20 that’s an extra 8 damage to everything for a minute.
If you want to protect yourself from all that damage, you might want to dip into the Barbarian Dedication for the ability to Rage. This gives you plenty of temporary HP and lasts up to a minute, until there’s no more enemies around, or you fall unconscious. While raging, you deal extra damage- +2 for most melee weapons, +1 with agile attacks. You also take a -1 penalty to AC and can’t use concentrate actions while raging. Fortunately, neither Destructive Aura nor Gravity Weapon are concentration spells! After you rage, you have to wait a minute before raging again.
Technically you’re a Fury Barbarian, though that doesn’t really affect anything. On the plus side since you’re pretty good with athletics you become trained in Arcana instead. Don’t ask how that works.
9. Ninth level! Real simple- expert in class and reflex saves, master in fortitude saves and intimidation. You also only get critical successes on fortitude saves now.
Finally, your Divine Smite means if the enemy that triggers your liberating step was trying to grab, restrain, immobilize, or paralyze your friend, they take persistent good damage equal to your charisma modifier. Because grabbing is bad civ, I guess.
10. At tenth level you get another Ability Boost, and you gain a Radiant Blade Spirit for even more ways to customize your sword. It can be flaming, anarchic, or holy. Flaming’s simple: deal fire damage, plus some persistent damage on a crit. Anarchic is pretty fun though- you deal extra damage on lawful targets, and your crits are extra random, making you roll a d6 to see what happens. On a 1-2, you deal minimum damage- a 3-4 is a regular crit, and a 5-6 deals maximum damage on top of your crit doubling. Finally, holy works on evil targets, and once a day when you crit you regain hp. While I still vote for the whipsword, having extra options is always a good idea.
When you roll initiative, you can shout out a Battle Cry and demoralize a foe for free. Once you’re legendary in intimidation, you can do this every time you critically hit.
We also get a little Basic Fury thanks to our barbarian dip, letting you make a Bashing Charge- spend two actions to stride twice, and if you move through or end at an obstacle, you can make a free force open check to blast through the thing with a +1 bonus. It’s actually really hard to get moves that specifically destroy civilizations, but at least you’ll do a number on cities now.
11. Another quicky. You’re an expert in perception and nature, and a master in Will saves- you also always have crit successes on will saves now.
Your liberating step also exalts your allies now. If the targeted ally doesn’t try to break free of anything, you and all allies in 15’ can step alongside the triggering ally. Extra mobility is never a bad move! Literally.
On the topic of never staying in one place, you show Incredible Initiative, so you get a +2 bonus to all initiative checks. You don’t come to the Mongol hordes, the Mongol hordes come to you.
12. Twelfth level champions can become a Blade of …Justice?, letting you spend two actions to deal a strike against a creature harming an ally or the innocent, dealing two extra weapon damage dice on evil targets, and also converting the damage to good if you want to. Now your sword/whip is a magical rainbow whip/sword! Coincidentally, this also supercharges your Gravity Weapon spell with extra damage, so opening with this is a pretty solid choice if you’ve cast that already.
You also have a Terrifying Resistance, so if you demoralize a creature successfully you have a +1 bonus against all their spells for 24 hours. I know I said we were done with Natural Body stuff, I forgot.
Finally, we pop back to ranger to become a Master Spotter, making you a master in Perception so you can spot enemies across the steppe.
13. Thirteenth level is fast too. Mastery in Armor and Weapons, and Expertise in Society. God, that was fast.
14. You and your allies get a bit more untouchable by bad civs thanks to your Aura of Righteousness, giving you and everyone you like within 15’ evil resistance 5. This includes you Bonded Animal, btw. You have to spend 7 days of downtime hanging out with your horse, but if you succeed on a nature check afterwards that animal is permanently helpful, though you can only have one at a time.
You also have Advanced Fury so you can get some Raging Intimidation. This lets you demoralize and scare to death even while raging, and you get the Intimidating Glare and Scare to Death feats for free. Once you qualify for them, of course. This means the whole battle cry thing won’t get in the way once you start critting.
You also immediately qualify for Intimidating Glare, letting you freak people out at a glance and avoid taking a penalty if the creature doesn’t speak your language. Technically this means you can now issue a battle cry without actually crying, but don’t think about it too hard.
15. At fifteenth level you get another Ability Boost, and you can make some Powerful Leaps, for extra distance. You also have Greater Weapon Specializations to deal even more damage with every weapon you hit with, and you’re a legend in Athletics.
16. Sixteenth level champions can exude an Aura of Faith, making all your strikes deal an extra 1 good damage, and all your nearby allies also get a +1 bonus on their first strike each round.
That makes you terrifying enough to do Group Coercion, intimidating up to 10 creatures at a time in a single Intimidation check, increasing to 25 when legendary.
You also look into what your glowy skin lines do and become Runescarred, giving you training in Thassilon Lore and expertise in Arcana. I… guess living in a moon computer helps you figure out magic? Maybe?
It also lets you cast Shield freely, making a magic shield you don’t need to spend a hand holding onto. I know the blocking shell thing in extella is a gameplay abstraction, but fuck it, we ball. You can shield block with the thing too, though this ends the spell and can be used against magic missiles. Its hardness increases as you level up, currently being Hardness 20.
17. Seventeenth level is… actually not barren, an oddity for odd levels. You’re a master with Class stuff, and a legend with armor and intimidation, which would normally be the end of it, but this means you automatically get Scare to Death as well!
Scare to Death lets you spend an action to make an intimidation check against a living creature within 30’, and makes them immune to further scaring to death for 1 minute. On a success or failure, the target is frightened. On a critical success, it gets fun. The target must then make a fortitude save against that check you rolled, and on a critical failure it dies instantly, and this effect has the Death trait so most guts effects won’t save against it. On any other result, they’re frightened 2 and fleeing for a round.
Also you can demoralize as a free action every time you crit, but like. The killing people via being scary is wayy more interesting.
18. At eighteenth level you can Smite Evil, spending an action to single out one motherfucker to really whale into. Until your next turn, all your strikes deal 6 extra good damage, and if they try to attack an ally the effect keeps going next turn too.
You can also Cloud Jump to move triple the distance, but w/e.
For more damage, you can use some more Advanced Fury to Cleave as a reaction. If you kill or ko a creature, you can follow through an make an attack against an adjacent creature as well. That whip’s got some reach.
19. We’ve got almost everything you’d want, but we’ve got some extra time to kill. So now you’re Fleet so even if you’re not riding a horse you’ll move 5’ more per round. You also have a Hero’s Defiance, a devotion spell that lets you not die when you should. You wouldn’t be the Scourge of God if you were easy to smite. Ironically, stuff like Scare to Death cuts right through this.
Also, expertise in Diplomacy, why not.
20. You get one last Ability Boost, and you become a Radiant Blade Master so you can make your sword dancing, greater disrupting, or keen. Keen’s the best one here, giving you critical hits on 19s and 20s.
You can also force foes to make a Terrified Retreat, so if you critically succeed at demoralizing someone they have to flee for one round. Assuming you didn’t just blow them up with your voice at level 17.
We also get one last look into Advanced Fury to pick up a Great Cleave. Now if your cleave Kos someone you can keep making attacks until you make on that doesn’t knock someone out or until you can’t reach another creature. This just goes to show that a character doesn’t have to be drawn by Raita to have great cleavage.
And with that 18-year-old joke out of the way, onto pros and cons.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
You might not have a laser, but you really don’t need one with the kind of damage you can pump out. Rage + Destructive Aura + Gravity Weapon + Blade of Justice = A shitload of damage, and that’s before we take into account how Destructive Aura helps every member of your team, not just you. Not only do you hit hard, you hit everything hard. You’ve also got the highest strength we’ve managed so far, which only drives the point home further.
While you can smash through objects with the greatest of ease, a lot of your build went towards scaring off the people of a civilization more than just smashing their toys. You can coerce up to 25 people at a time with your sheer might, and you can even scare people so hard they straight up die. Salter also had a lot of this kit, but keying in the barbarian levels really makes the whole thing shine.
You’re also great at commanding animals, and while that’s technically a situational thing, riding into battle on the back of a horse- or really any mountable beast- is fucking cool. It’s also great since if anyone tries to mess with your horse that just powers some of your champion abilities even more!
Cons:
You don’t have a laser. While you can do a lot of damage, all of that is kept within 15’ of you unless you pick the dancing weapon rune. So unless you can find a Pegasus on short notice, flying enemies will be entirely out of your reach. If you’re playing to character.
On a related note: random horses are not level 20. That means they will last all of eight seconds on the battlefield before being shot out from under you, and your aura of destruction doesn’t make things any better since it affects the horse too.
You don’t have much to do outside of combat. anyway not a whole lot happening this time since i got like 80% of the achievements in my previous big play sesh and a lot of this one was detritus, but here's some highlights and lowlights first: the worst

this fucking achievement. i'd heard a bit about spindly being really picky and hard to get, and in some ways i get it since it's so weird about how it calculates leg length, but also all you need to do for that one is get a long-legged dog and cram it full of bananas and/or nutrition pellets and you should get there in 2 or 3 rounds. THIS fucking thing took balancing across 3 different genes; not just minus height, but also minus overall size because the fucking height reducer genes would not behave on their own. i also gave it length Increasers just to be sure we didn't run into weird issues with having too little surface area.
seriously though, you need <5% max height for the achievement, and i at one point got one from 10% down to 7%, but then in the following mutation the supposed height Decreasing gene made it Increase up to like 15%, and then to 27% after that for some fucking reason. by far not the first time i'd seen genes doing the opposite of what they were labelled to do, but the first time it so actively worked against me.
i went through at least 6 dogs for this one and none of them are notable but i like these two's names

Five seconds to launch
I love the Cow Mangler’s charged shot. It’s not always a good choice, but it sometimes is, and it’s so satisfying. If other rocket launchers had alt-fire options, what would they look like? I think I’ll make a post about that.

Worth noting: unless otherwise noted, charged shots use Cow Mangler mechanics, slowing you down while they charge, which takes about two seconds.
You won’t be using this shot in the heat of battle, since - like the Mangler’s - it takes two full seconds to prepare. But if you use it from outside of battle, you can restore a significant chunk of health, and because the Black Box’s clip is smaller, you can do it more frequently than the Mangler’s.
The main risk with this weapon is that it’d be too passive, allowing Soldiers to sit back and spam charged shots to regain health easily. However, you’ll be very vulnerable while reloading, making it easy for opponents to punish misuse. We do run the risk of making users very difficult to kill while also keeping them out of the most interesting combat, though, which is something that would be good to iron out via playtests.
Air Strike with Alt-Fire (+) Alt-fire: Consume four rockets to fire a shot with +100% self push force and no self-damage [1-second charge] (+) Gain +1 clip size on kill, up to +4 (+) +65% attack speed while blast jumping (+) -15% self-damage from blast jumps (-) -15% damage (-) -10% blast radius (-) -20% blast radius while blast jumping
Notice that this shot always consumes four rockets, so you get better results if you’ve already increased your clip size. You can fly like an eagle, getting significant airtime to release your barrage(s). But once you land, you’ll probably have an empty clip, putting you in danger while you reload.
A mild concern is that this uber-powerful rocket jump could be used to traverse smaller maps very quickly, a bit like how Sticky Jumper Demomen always end up at the enemy spawn just after the round starts. However, because you’re almost immobile while it’s charging, and you have a hefty reload time, I’m inclined to say it’s probably less effective than just jumping normally.
Conclusions Adding an alt-fire functionality is a great way to give a weapon more depth (although we don’t want to make it too complicated!) In these cases, there are definitely potential problems, but I think the risk-reward dynamic is pretty well-balanced, giving users more interesting choices to make on the battlefield. At the same time, the charged shots have serious drawbacks that enemies can capitalize on, meaning that opponents can also have a good time fighting against these launchers.
Of course, there are several more rocket launchers that don’t have charged shots! What options would you give to the Direct Hit, Liberty Launcher, Beggar’s Bazooka (if that’s even possible), or even Rocket Jumper or stock launcher?

so since 2021 i've been trying to get pregnant. in 2022 i underwent two rounds of iui treatment that were unsuccessful. i have several medical conditions that are gonna make pregnancy difficult to say the least.
19-21 year old maya never thought they'd be wanting to get pregnant after the whole ovarian cancer nearly killed me thing, but here we are at 28-30 trying soooo hard. i was devastated to say the least when the 2022 iui didn't work? so i put a pause on it and just focused on transitioning out of the classroom. you can't like get pregnant when you're in that much stress, i figured.
so now i'm working at a new job and it also comes with fertility treatments covered up to 30K! this is great news cuz it's gonna be about 23-25K to do the first round of ivf...!!! ivf is def for those white rich types ngl.
anyway i was told that because of my weight increasing like 30 pounds since 2022 (i had to go off this medicine that was helping me lose weight in order to attempt iui cuz it's harmful to a baby) i had to lose 35-40 pounds. so for like seven months i've been trying to do exactly that! i was so excited this morning when i stepped on that scale and i've lost like 25 pounds. now i just need to lose an additional 10-15 pounds!!! then i can try ivf and hopefully it works! hopefully !!!!
my goal weight is to be around 250 pounds or under so that even when i stop my meds and my weight bounces back up i don't gain sooo much that it disqualifies me again. my doctor just wants me to be around 260 pounds or under.
i checked this morning and my scale says i'm 264 pounds--so hopefully the doctor's scale next month says i've hit 260~ pounds... i go in for an official weight check next month on feb 9th. the doctor scale is usually off by 5 pounds or so compared to my home scale. it's annoying af. hopefully i can get to 250 pounds or under by mid-march!!!
i...also have to still buy the sperm which is sooo ridiculously expensive. like ugh. it's $2,195 for ONE vial of sperm.
i did get my sperm donor approved tho! so that's great news as well. he's a korean dude since one of my wife's conditions for our sperm donor was that he be a man of color. because fertility treatments are like centered around rich white folks it has been a journey to try and find a man of color sperm donor that i like. there's like so few black sperm donors that have enough vials available... !! so we just went with the second highest donor pool which is typically asian men. like after white men, it's asian men, specifically east asian men.
my original sperm bank closed and my original chinese donor i used for the IUIs is no longer available. so i had to go with a new bank and i tried to pick one that has a legacy and like doesn't seem like it might fucking close!!!
we're also trying to make sure that our child can access the donor once they're 18 if they would like to. so that's adding to why it's so expensive for the sperm. like if we just went with an anonymous donor it'd be so much cheaper--however i am not going to deny my future kids the right to know their heritage.
anyway, it's been a whirlwind cuz on top of the whole trying to get pregnant thing i'm also dealing with marital issues. but... like it or not, i'll be okay even if i have to be a single parent.
it's fine.
my current goal is to lose this weight + get the sperm purchased by mid march/april so that i can do the attempt in mid april/early may to hopefully produce a pregnancy and have a baby in early 2025. i'm also trying to plan it for when my fmla will be available for me to start using because baby ! i wanna be able to enjoy the full 12 weeks with my kiddo. i also love my job for giving us six weeks of paid fmla leave... that's so cool. i'm going to save up my vacation leave to cover the rest of that 6 weeks!!!
so yeah, just a lot going on. but i think i'm in a better position emotionally and soon to be mentally and physically to attempt more fertility treatments.
