Sonic Discussion: About Blaze the Cat appeared in Sonic 06

Blaze the Cat in Sonic 06 was very confusing, it’s hard to understand why she was there for. There are some assumed that Blaze shouldn’t be need to appeared in 06. But I honestly don’t think that’s necessary though.

So, I decided to discuss about Blaze by analyze her in Silver’s story for the 15th anniversary of Sonic 06. And I will also making four more discussions about 06 characters for the anniversary as well. (I know it’s already late though)

Before we start, this discussion might not be pretty good writing, so I like to apologize if my english isn’t fluent. This discussion is also just my speculation and theories about Blaze the Cat in 06.

Lastly, I suggest you should watch Sonic 06 in japanese dub (that got translated into english sub) to understand more about the real dialogues. (I gonna keep mentioning this whenever I make Sonic discussions.)

About Blaze origins:

In Sonic Rush story, stated that Blaze the Cat is a Guardian of the Sol Emeralds from another dimension which is called the Sol Dimension, and a royal princess as well.

In Sonic 06 however, didn’t properly explained about what Blaze supposed to be, so there are theories about what Blaze’s origin is.

There’s a theory that Blaze is just Silver’s figment imagination, because she was never interacted with anyone at all, but that wouldn’t makes sense since Blaze got separated from Silver after Mephiles send them to the past, and Blaze able to sealed Iblis inside her. So I’m not entirely agreed to this theory.

The other theory is that Blaze was originally from the future which is the Chaos dimension/Sonic’s dimension. In the ending of Silver’s story, right after Blaze got transferred to another dimension, she got reborn/reicarnated as Guardian and royal princess at the Sol Dimension. This theory could possibly canon in 06 story, but it didn’t exactly true though.

Because Sonic 06 was supposed to be a reboot game. (The evidence is when Elise kept a blue Chaos Emerald for 10 years.)

06 was supposed to have connection story with Sonic Rush since it’s stated by Shiro Maekawa himself, and it’s possible that 06 is a prequel to Sonic Rush. 06 might explained about Blaze’s origin, but that plot story got scrapped.

I suggest you should read this to understand what I meant. (Also understanding more about Silver and Blaze.)

Even if anyone still thought that Blaze was originally from the future, it doesn’t convince me yet. So I speculated that Blaze is always been from the Sol dimension.

There’s possibly three information about her:

1. In japanese Sonic 06 website stated that Blaze is Guardian of Sol Emeralds, and her character trait still the same as her character in Sonic Rush.

Here’s the translation:

“She has the role of protecting the Sol Emeralds (Items paired with Chaos Emeralds). Her personality is calm but in reality she secret hot emotions.

Although it is Blaze who is tough on herself and has a shy personality around other people, she treats Silver, whom she acts alongside and holds gratitude towards, like a younger brother.”

2. In the ending of Silver’s Story, Silver tries to seal Iblis inside him, but his body rejected it. Until Blaze decided to seal Iblis inside herself instead, and her body was willing to accepted it. And it works because Blaze’s soul has connection with flames.

But if you remember what the Duke of Soleanna said when he sealed Iblis inside Elise,

“Fall into slumber with a royalty’s soul”

In order to seal Iblis, the vessel needs to have a royal soul. Which proves that Blaze is a royal princess.

3. Takashi Iizuka stated that Blaze the Cat is always had been from the Sol dimension. Depends if you know what I meant, because I can’t find the source sadly, so take a grain of salt. But if you know about Iizuka replied to someone who asked about what the origins of Silver, Eggman Nega, and Blaze comes from, his answer was:

“Silver and Eggman Nega comes from the future, and Blaze is from an alternate dimension.”

Blaze’s unexplainable plot story:

Since I stated that Blaze is from another dimension, you might wondering how she got there at Sonic’s dimension.

I actually agreed that Sonic 06 is a prequel to Sonic Rush. Because in Sonic Rush the last story, Eggman mentioned that Blaze couldn’t properly used the power of the Sol Emeralds.

In theory, Blaze could possibly send herself to another dimension by accident while using the Sol Emeralds, or the Sol Emeralds possibly send her there on purpose.

For the Sol Emeralds however, it didn’t appeared or mentioned at all in 06. But I’m sure that the Sol Emeralds weren’t there at all, because if there were, then the Sol dimension would be entering to Chaos/Sonic’s dimension which caused destruction to their world. In 06 however nothing happened, and Blaze doesn’t seemed worrying at all in Silver’s story.

Blaze and Silver’s relationship:

In the beginning Silver’s story, Blaze already had a relationship with Silver by helping and mentoring Silver. But if you think they’re already close-friends at the beginning, I’m not so sure about that.

In my opinion, the way I see between Blaze and Silver’s relationship in 06 is like neutral-friends, especially the way Blaze talked to Silver in Japanese dub which is that she sounded way more stoic than english dub version. Blaze does respected to Silver and thought of him as a younger brother, but they’re not that close yet.

However in Silver’s story, Silver and Blaze’s relationship was getting more developed until in the end, Silver valued Blaze as a friend, and Blaze also valued him by mentioned that she always like him whenever Silver being naive.

“Blue Hedgehog”:

It caused confusion when Blaze said that line, the line wasn’t supposed to meant that Blaze recognized Sonic, since Sonic and Blaze didn’t interacted at all, it’s obvious that Blaze just met Sonic in 06. The line was supposed to be a hint, and it can only be found in Japanese dub.

Blaze possibly thought when she heard Silver said “Aoi”, it was supposed to be a different word meaning besides “Blue”.

In Japanese, “Aoi” can also be meaning in two different words which is:

“Inexperienced”

“Unripe”

Those two words can also means “naive”, and this word was already mentioned.

That’s why Blaze kept mentioned about “blue hedgehog”, because she almost suspected that Silver might be the Iblis Trigger. And explained why Mephiles decided to send Silver and Blaze to the past by separated them, if he didn’t then Blaze might be able to stop Silver already before he tries to kill Sonic.

You might wondered why Blaze didn’t tried to tell Silver when she founded him. It’s because right after Silver asked Blaze about “that” question, Blaze might thought that Silver already met the “blue hedgehog” and caused her to think that she was wrong, so she decided not to tell him.

And Silver’s question about “If killing someone just to save the world is the right thing to do” was actually foreshadowing about Blaze in the ending of Silver’s story.

Then, this cutscene actually has an alternate scene/deleted scene which is from this,

The deleted scene is at 3:36 or 4:04.

It showed that right after Silver left just before Blaze was about to follow him,

She looked concern, she might be unsure if they really had to kill someone just to save the future, or unsure that she was wrong about the “blue hedgehog”.

Blaze’s acknowledgement about the Chaos Emeralds:

When Silver founded a Chaos Emerald at the Eggman’s base, Blaze explained about how the Chaos Emeralds worked and told him to kept it as a lucky charm. That scene was actually important for Silver that he able to learned Chaos Control quickly and especially for the last story as well.

Strangely, Blaze didn’t say anything or recognized a Chaos Emerald when Mephiles was holding it, Blaze might didn’t know what are the Chaos Emeralds yet.

So probably in off screen, when Blaze tries to find Silver at Soleanna town, she might gathering informations, especially about the Chaos Emeralds.

Blaze’s Sacrifice:

Silver’s plan to stop Iblis was to seal him by becoming the vessel, however it didn’t planned well when his body got rejected, until Blaze decided to sealed Iblis as the vessel instead.

Then, the confusing moment happened when Blaze asked Silver to use Chaos Control on her to stop time and then sealed them to another dimension, it was kinda out of context.

So explaining about why would Blaze asked Silver to do that, she probably couldn’t seal Iblis completely. It’s true that Blaze’s body was able to accepted as the vessel, but she couldn’t because Iblis had gotten stronger for the past 200 years or more in the future ever since he got freed. If Blaze tries to sealed Iblis completely then her body will be destroyed, causing her to die, and Iblis will be free once more.

Then, about Blaze said “sealed us into another dimension”, was pretty odd, why would she wanted to be sealed for?

I’m not sure about another dimension is actually the Sol Dimension, it’s just didn’t make sense yet.

In theory, Blaze might meant that “another dimension” was actually a dimension where there is nothingness like a void, or somewhere Iblis can’t destroy or hurting anyone. if Blaze and Iblis was sealed in another dimension successly, then she will release him there. However, even though Iblis will be trap in that dimension, Blaze will also be trap with him forever as well. That’s probably why Silver wouldn’t able to do that to Blaze.

Lastly, about Blaze goes disappeared in the ending of Silver’s story.

When Silver refused to use Chaos Control on Blaze, she decided to sealed Iblis completely, and fused her soul with Iblis, which caused her to transformed into Burning Blaze.

However by going beyond her limit,

it caused her becoming into a spirit/ghost, then ascended to the sky, burst into light and disappeared.

In conclusion, Blaze decided to sacrificed her life to sealed Iblis and fused her soul with him, so she could take Iblis with her to die.

There are two things about why I assumed Blaze actually died,

1. This is not Chaos Control move, (flashing image alert)

Silver didn’t use Chaos Control on Blaze since he refused to do it, therefore he didn’t do anything in that scene.

Blaze also didn’t use Chaos Control as well, because she doesn’t seemed tried to use it, but instead she seemed tried to sealed Iblis completely by sacrificed her life.

If that really was Chaos Control, shouldn’t Blaze able to disappeared in a flash just like after Sonic or Shadow use it rather than get ascended to the sky then disappeared?

2. If Blaze still alive by successfully transferred into another dimension or got reincarnated and reborned somehow, then she should be able to appeared in the last story no matter what,

Silver able appeared in the last story even though he’s from the future, because he was interfered with alternate timeline and Solaris can consuming entire timelines.

Blaze should be able to appeared there since she also interfered with alternate timeline (if you’re not conviced, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles were able to appeared in the last story even though they don’t involved that much.) Eggman mentioned that Solaris can also consuming entire dimensions and stated that Solaris is a super-dimensional lifeform.

It’s not surprising that Blaze had died in 06, since it already showed characters death twice, which is The Duke/Elise’s father, who got injured badly due to explosion caused by Solaris and died by using his last energy to sealed Iblis inside Elise. And Sonic, who got backstabbed by Mephiles in order to make Elise fell in despair and cried causing to release Iblis.

Blaze’s purpose in 06:

From my analysis about Blaze so far, I believe her purpose being appeared in 06 was actually destined to met and helped Silver. If Silver didn’t met Blaze, then he wouldn’t able to learned much experience from her.

Especially in the last Story, where after Elise told everyone that Sonic hasn’t gone yet, Silver told everyone to use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to bring Sonic back to life, which gave everyone’s hopes back. It’s all thanks to Blaze for giving Silver that advice, and of course the others might know about how the Chaos Emeralds worked, but they’re not sure if they could find a way to stop Solaris though.

Ever since Sonic 06, whenever Silver and Blaze appeared in other games (such as Colors DS, Generations, Runners, and Team Sonic Racing.) they’re always be together, even though they just met in Colors DS (if that’s canon), they seemed bonded so well, that their relationship was already developed quickly.

Even if Silver and Blaze had forgotten after the reset/reboot timeline in the end of Sonic 06, they are still going to meet each other again, because they are destined to meet and being together.

Blaze was supposed to be important in 06, but it didn’t planned well due to rushed the game. If it’s not, depends explain about why there’s 06 references involving Blaze then.

Sega of Japan and Sonic Team kept making 06 references to reminding us that it’s still canon.

Whether you like it or not, 06 will always be canon because right after Elise blow out the Flame of Hope caused the timeline to reset/rebooted. Sonic and Elise able to remember some events, and that also including Blaze and possibly Silver to remembered 06 events as well.

I also don’t even think that the 06 references is actually for fanservice, since it’s mostly hated by the fanbase. I assumed that the references could be hints for Silver the hedgehog game, since that game was supposed to be after 06.

It’s possible that Sonic Team decided to kept Silver the hedgehog game plot story for now, and make 06 references just to reminded the fanbase that it’s still canon and there will be a connection story which is gonna be in Silver’s game.

Fanfiction Stuff/Writer’s Thoughts

Below is a lot of stuff about the next book in the set: Sonic Series (2): Unleashed Power (based on Sonic 06)...

(I may refer back to this post while writing my fanfiction, all posts from here forward with fanfiction material that I think I’ll need later will be tagged ‘[writer’s needs: fanfic]’.)

Omega was only found in standby mode in the future because Rouge the Bat in the present told him to help Shadow- who at the time was 200yrs+ in the future.

Silver is not as bright or as cheery as the internet pretends he is. Moreso... A slightly chiseled and misled soul. Probably easily manipulated. I mean- he was all gung-ho about killing Sonic, up until realizing he had not been told the whole truth. So... Silver isn’t as ‘innocent’ as everyone acts like he is. He’s... Dark, in 06.

Mephiles the Dark never really LIED in anything he said... He just... Never told the whole truth. Yes, Sonic was the ‘Iblis Trigger’, but only because of his death/forcing Eggman to up the guard around Princess Elise, leading to her death aboard his ship. Yes, humanity probably hunted Shadow down, and were afraid of his power. But what if Shadow went psycho or something after the world fell apart? Yes, if Silver killed Sonic, then Silver’s future would be altered- it wouldn’t exist, which is, by definition, an altercation, since it is no longer the same future.

Silver the Hedgehog calls Soleanna an ‘island’. So, for all intents and purposes, the kingdom and its varying biomes, are all on one island. Cool.

Omega has the ability to overwrite commands, if he believes it logical.

“Don’t worry, my soul is already alit with flames, I will be accepted.”- So Blaze, who had the ability of fire throughout the series, just admitted that one’s soul must be burning with fire in order for Iblis to slumber within it. FANFICTION WRITERS, TO YOUR-... Oh yeah.

Story concepts based off of the things I noticed (that may be implemented later):

Silver is not innocent, he’s chiseled, he’s seen death every day since birth. He only acts innocent and kind in the present because he’s one of those ‘I don’t want anyone to feel how I feel’ people. Also, his rage is probably ABSOLUTELY blinding.

Mephiles will not tell a lie... He will, however, withhold the entire truth.

Soleanna is a big island in the ocean, away from other nations/cities.

‘Already alit with flames’ puts a fracture into my plans, but I can work around it. Technically, I’m going to be doing that regardless.

So that’s all I’ve got for now in terms of Tempest’s story. I have been working on some concepts to change/think about, as well. On those, I like feedback.

Probably taking out the fact that Tempest was meant to be a stillborn, since the Iblis Flame needs to hide in a ‘soul’, and Tempest wouldn’t have a soul in her physical body if she was dead.

Mephiles MAY end up ‘slumbering’ within Tempest’s veins after the Solaris fight and his defeat, but I’m not sure. I do know that Tempest is keeping the Iblis Flame either way. If she does become a vessel for the Mephiles Shadow, she will gain gray streaks on her skin from her shoulders to her elbows, and her feet to her knees, that look a lot like Shadow’s streaks since Mephiles’ initial shadow form was based on Shadow the Hedgehog. She would also gain a ‘Time Teleport’ ability that would allow her to teleport back in time ten seconds. HOWEVER it would be very disorienting until she could get used to it.

The duke of Soleanna would be the one to get kidnapped by Eggman until he revealed that he didn’t know where the Iblis Flame was, then Eggman would realize Tempest had the flame moments after sending her to the future. Because c’mon. It’d be funny..... For me. Well actually- I’m not sure when to let Eggman find out that Tempest has the Flames, if at all.

Things that have solidified (currently)….

Tempest will not be kidnapped by Eggman to kick off 06′s events. That honor goes to the duke of Soleanna.

Instead of killing Sonic, Mephiles will give Tempest back her parents (which he kidnapped three years prior). The moment she goes to hug them, he’ll send a bolt of darkness through their hearts, killing them both instantly.

Tempest’s death will remain the same as Elise’s- Eggman’s ship exploding. It does seem like it’ll be a lot of fun to write.

While Tempest will relive the time it takes Sonic to get to the ship and get her off of it, she will not relive her entire life due to Silver and Shadow going back in time- it doesn’t affect her own timestream, so it won’t be relived.

The whole bit with that tree and the lake will not be relived with Sonic and Tempest. Not during 06′s events. Just... No.

Silver and Shadow’s timelines will remain the same, save their travel to the accident. That will be changed to fit my story’s realm.

Only Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Tempest, Mephiles, and Iblis will remember the entire aborted timeline. Everyone else will forget.

Okay, I’m going to stop typing now before this post becomes a book in of itself. On the bright side, I have a bit more of an idea of what I’ll be writing now. Guess I just needed to write it all down so my thoughts would sort themselves. Somewhat.
