all works of writing/summaries are not owned by me, and all credits go to the respective writers! this list will be updated periodically with stories i have read ♡ i thought that as a writer myself who consumes talented stories on this site, it would be good for me to show you all a fraction of what i read myself tehe (i read majority poly!teez/mc so that category will be filled!!) ☆
— note: 90% of these fics will contain mature themes, since it's all i read! please read the specific author's notes before reading!
❤︎ - personal favorites

Tumblr media
— ❤︎ mists of celeste (??/reader, several pairings) by @hongism
genre: scifi/space au, pirate au, space pirate!ateez, angst, smut, fluff
summary: sneaking aboard the ship of a renowned space pirate may not have been the best idea, but you’ll have to make do with what fate has handed to you.
notes: as an atiny on tumblr.com, i feel like it's a rite of passage to read moc. it's one of the best written works i have had the privilege of reading. it's gripping, it's heartbreaking, it's filled with yearning and love, and has you hoping that the characters survive this ordeal. san i love you most you can tell by the masterlist alone that she has crafted a whole space pirate universe intricately and with the utmost care. she deals with the trauma of the characters so so well and i cant lie ive cried a lot reading it jdhdksjddj, it's the fic that made me start reading ateez ff, i mean, i started reading before even knowing ateez and i had to have a separate tab open to remember who was who. that alone can tell you how much of a work of art this is. omg, im blabbering, but please read this.
— hotel california (ot8/reader) by @mint-yooxgi
genre: yandere, demon!au
summary: checking in to a hotel ran by yandere!Ateez, the boys decide she can no longer leave
my notes: im not too sure how i came across this work, i think it was an endless scroll of me trying to find something to read, but nevertheless, this story. i have not finished it yet (a great and utter pity) but from what ive read so far. im actually very concerned on how much ive read of this in one night 😨, i think the plot is so so unique, i love a strong mc who does not take any shit whatsoever, i love gaslighting demon!ateez 🙂‍↕️. i had to stare at the wall several times while reading,, felt like jim in the office truly. UGH it's just so good??? i can't recommend enough!! PLEASE READ.
— ❤︎ the answer (ot8?/reader, side pairings) by @berryunho
genre: cult au, thriller
summary: life is great until your best friend goes missing your senior year of university, leaving little more than an apology and goodbye. Months later, you’re determined to find out what happened to him and discover a situation much more complicated than you would have ever anticipated - as in - Kim Hongjoong doesn’t like the word ‘cult.’ He prefers 'sect.'
my notes: i first discovered this fic on ao3 and somehow found out lauren had a tumblr blog but i digress – i found this one night and was so excited that i found something so so unique and different and i am pretty sure i didn't sleep until 4am reading everything omg . it's truly so funny and i adore the main character more than anything, the snide remarks truly encompass and make you feel their emotions? cult leader hongjoong is something else... without spoiling hfjdjf. i beg lauren often for a spoiler because it's just that good. please read.
— OUTLAW (ot8/reader, side pairings) by @staytinyville
genre: wild west!au, smut(?), angst
summary: you thought you would be spending the rest of your life tending to the hotel your family ran. while you knew it was common to see bandits come and go in your town, you felt safe in your home. at least safe enough with a weapon at your disposal. however you were no match for eight men who were known to most as outlaws around the plains. hawt kind of adventures did they go on?
my notes: i started reading this a while back and have yet to finish, but so far the premise is so so so interesting and i love readying cowboy aus rjkfjkdrfkj ITS SO GOOD!!!! I CANT WAIT TO CATCH UP
— sway with me (ot8/reader, wooyoung/reader) by @luvt0kki
genre: sci-fi/space/futuristic!au
summary: former noble turned space pirate, wooyoung was now part of one of the most revered and hunted group of pirates of the galaxy. sure he’s only known them for six months but there’s only so much you could do in a ship when you travel from one planet to the next. the ship was their home, his home…and the members of this crew were friends that he felt he was fated to meet.
my notes: tokki already knows all of this but,,, i started this a month or so ago? and i read the first chapter and i legit lost my mind,,, in the calmest way possible... the first chapter is gripping and it sets a environment that i very much would love to live in??? it's just so so well written, and the reader is very much my type NDFAKKJ ANYWAY... it's told from the pov of wooyoung and i love it??? so MUCH?? please read ok bye
— one more rep (woosan x reader) by @cheollipop
genre: smut, f2l, trainers woosan
summary: san got a little too excited watching you exercise in purple – his favourite colour – and wooyoung was nothing if not a tease. turning their attention back to you, they didn't expect to see you equally worked-up.
my notes: ???? i actually read this a few times,,,, this fic yall.... i cannot... the mental image of woosan in the gym makes me delusional enoughdsjkaskfjksd PLEASE.
— like a dream (yungi x reader) by cheollipop
genre: bf!yungi, smut

Thess vs Games Collections
There are a few things that my friends know about me:
They know I have fibromyalgia, which leaves me with a lot of chronic pain and occasional focus issues
They know that I almost certainly have undiagnosed ADHD
They know that I have somehow managed to turn a lot of my ADHD stuff into assets, or at least ways to offset everything else that’s wrong with me. I let my impulsivity fight it out with my executive dysfunction, but most of all, when the painkillers aren’t working, I let hyperfocus stand in, focusing past the pain on something fun but not too demanding while the painkillers kick in properly
They know this means I need a lot of Zen games - largely sims of the farming / crafting / colony creation / business-running variety
And finally, they know my Steam account
They know all these things. Because they know all these things, and love me enough to want to be of whatever help they can as I limp my way through life, and most of all because they are generous little buggers, they have a tendency to fling Zen games at my head at random intervals. Thankfully, most Zen games aren’t the most expensive ones, and are generally done by indie companies so I don’t have to side-eye the AAA gaming companies of the day by encouraging more money going to the abusive sons-of-bitches.
Side note: checking over my wish list, there’s, like, four games on there that aren’t indie - Tales of Arise is Bandai; like three or four of them are Square Enix (Nier and a couple of FF games), but mostly indie. I mean, obviously I’m waiting for the Horizon: Forbidden West PC port, but while Sony Interactive is obviously in the AAA space, at least Guerilla hasn’t had the kind of horrible noise made about it that companies like Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, EA, and even CDPR have. Though on the subject of EA, I am still waiting on the next Dragon Age game. The franchise means a lot to me.
Anyway, the point is that I have had a couple of games flung at my head in the last week or so. And at least one of them has proven very helpful in the hyperfocus stakes. I’m a little behind the curve on Spiritfarer - I seem to remember that there was a fair bit of discussion about it when it came out but that was August 2020 and lockdown was in full swing and I was unemployed and on benefits and I had enough new games to power through so I tried very hard not to pay any attention to any new shininess I might like until I had a job, at which point it was no longer in the buzz. However, I was still trawling for demos on Steam and happened to trip over this one and thought, “Oh, this looks cute; I’ll give it a go”. And then the demo was over and I was going, “Wait! No! More game!” Buuuuut I am wary and I wanted to be sure that it belonged in a pride-of-place position on my wish list, so I asked the one person on my Steam friends list who had actually played the thing what they thought. Responses were: 1) “It’s fantastic!”; 2) “I should play that again since the last spirits were added in the last patch”; 3) “Here; HAVE GAME”. (I mean, payday was only a few days away but hell with it; it just means I have a bit more fun money floating around to throw the new Solasta DLC at his head.)
Anyway, yes, I have been loving it, and the balance between story and faffing about doing crafting / gardening / building and exploring the world is perfect for hyperfocus without any particular task getting too dull and taking me out of it. Also, it’s sweet and sad and lovely, as well as being funny and silly. It’s grand in its way; a game that’s both big and small at the same time. The world is big but there doesn’t always seem to be much in it, while your ship is comparatively small but it’s also huge with not just your building efforts, but also the inner lives of everyone aboard. You’re this little nexus of vibrant life floating around a big but somehow empty world, and it balances it so well. I think the only issue I could possibly raise against this game is that some of the crafting-related mini-games are fiddly as hell. However, I did manage to tamp down my perfectionist streak when I realised that even if you mess up, you still get something at the end of it, so the goal isn’t “do all of this perfectly or you lose”; it’s “do this thing the best you can and get as many crafted items as you can in the process”.
The same cannot be said for Potion Craft: Alchemy Simulator. This is so sad because it was given to me because of the personal associations between me and blending things until magic comes out (perfume, cookery, candy making etc). However, its mechanics are fiddly as fuck. It requires the kind of finesse the controls don’t really allow for and the tutorial doesn’t teach right off in any case. If someone wants a strong potion when you’re on day 1 and you’ve had no teaching in exactly what ratio of ground to whole ingredients you need to add or exactly when to stop grinding the grindables and they tell you to experiment but your ingredients are limited so that’s not actually feasible... No. Just ... no. I will probably poke at it a couple of more times just in case, but I have a feeling that one’s being relegated to the NOPE collection.
Yeah, I have a NOPE collection. It’s not for games I don’t like, exactly; it’s for games I literally cannot play for one reason or another but might try again one day. I mean, okay, Disco Elysium was one I didn’t like and didn’t get (mechanically it was very clever! I just found the intro frustrating as hell), and FFXIII is there because after about a half-hour of running down a corridor broken up with “Press X To Perform Combat” mechanics and overlong cutscenes that do not exactly move me to root for the characters or take an interest in their story or motives, I just got fed up. But mostly, it’s literal inability to play. Most of my first-person perspective games are there because migraine issues, particularlly the first two Borderlands games (though Far Cry 3 is also there because I died in the fucking tutorial and don’t know what I did wrong so screw that, and Remember Me was third person but the camera angles came out of Escher and you had limited camera control so I ended up flattened with a week-long migraine after about 20 minutes). The original Saints Row and Beyond Good and Evil got relegated to the NOPE collection because I could not manage their vehicle sections. Basically, most of the games relegated to that collection have some combination of “frustrating controls”, “migraine”, and “...the fuck is this?” Unfortunately, Potion Craft might be relegated to the NOPE collection sooner rather than later.
...I haven’t relegated the Dishonored games to the NOPE collection yet. This because I am assured from multiple sources that the franchise being all about stealth makes the shifts in gaze perspective easier to manage. However, I had to relegate Raising Petals to the NOPE collection and that was a fucking walking simulator because someone decided that they were really going to sell the fuck out of that “jounce because foot hitting ground” thing that most games only really do to any great degree when running. So even with the new medication really helping with the migraines, I’m wary of trying it again. So ... not NOPE. Just ... maybe when I’m feeling brave and have a few days where I can take to bed with a headache. Just in case.
I should have a MIGRAINE collection.

while im currently working on toyhouse pages for my main cast, and more specifically on the appearance description section, ive decided to write a detailed description of aya's appearance since she's not in the main cast! i have drawn her multiple times now and have her ingame model too but I like to have features described clearly
without further ado here is aya's appearance description:
6'2 (188cm) tall
skin is medium to dark brown with a warm undertone
has a rectangular and generally lanky figure, broad shoulders and some muscle on arms, chest is between an a and b cup. early in her story she can be considered underweight but she gradually gains more weight as she becomes healthier
has a round face. eyes have monolids and are downturned, upper lid is round while lower lid has a straighter shape, giving her eyes a half-circle look. has big dark brown eyes and long, dark eyelashes which can blend together (+ during shb her sclera gains a permanent shadow, which doesn't make them completely black but overall her eyes end up looking a lot more dark). prominent lower eyelid/smile lines/aegyo sal. thick, rectangular eyebrows. nose is round and wide. lips are full, round, heart shaped and two-toned
usually portrayed with gyaru makeup, most prominently on her eyes (elsewhere it's actually rather light, for example her lips only have a slight gloss). she has especially thick eyeliner and her long eyelashes are also prominent. white eyeliner on lower eyelid. droopy eyeliner can be stylized as part of her eyes
hair is dyed pink, naturally black. during shb her hair gains permanent blue highlights, which grows wherever her hair ends (including her bangs). her hair can be in several styles but her canon/"default" one is long (waist to hip length) locs with straightened wispy bangs
has some scars across her body as expected from her lifestyle as an adventurer, however these don't have a permanent/definitive placement. has some body hair on legs especially, she used to shave it but doesn't bother anymore. interestingly her body hair is blue like her highlights, though her eyebrows and lashes are still black...?
she is a hyur, midlander from her mom's side and highlander from her dad's side, which in non ff terms basically means she does not have any crazy fantasy features; she is a regular, average human (except like. really tall)
she is intended to be blasian, specifically black west asian from her dad's side and japanese from her mom's side. she mostly has her dad's features with the exception of her mom's eye and lip shape (though aya's lips are more full)
while she does not have a finalized outfit yet, here are some photo examples of what aya would wear:

#JakeReviewsItch
Aerannis
by ff
Price (US): $4.99
Included In: Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality
Genre: Action
Pitch: A stealthy action-platformer with a 32-bit pixel aesthetic about a pink-haired assassin in a purple-drenched, matriarchal future.
My expectations: It's incredibly hard to stand out in the crowded world of indie, pixel-art metroidvanias. I hope that's the only reason I've never heard anything about Aerannis. If the game matches the quality of the screenshots, this could be something special.
Review:
Tumblr media
Reviewing a different indie game every day can be exhausting (see: most of the reviews on this page), but then, out of nowhere, comes a game like Aerannis.
Tumblr media
Aerannis claims to be a game like Metroid or Castlevania, and I can see the connection. It’s a side-scrolling platformer where new powers are acquired, which can be used to reach previously inaccessible areas, but that’s only a sliver of the pie.
Tumblr media
Most of the action takes place in discrete, linear stages. Some focus on fast-paced jumping and shooting, along the lines of Metroid or Mega Man, while others are strict stealth challenges. Most often, they’re a blend of the two—stealth is the safest approach, but a quick trigger finger is usually a viable alternative when things go bad. Just don’t expect to make it through a fair fight without taking some hits.
Tumblr media
Aerannis ate most of my day, and if I hadn’t forced myself to stop and write this review, I wouldn’t have quit until I reached the end. It’s a successful blend of genres, with terrific variety and style, and it hates bigots who think we can’t tell the difference between feminism and fascism.
Tumblr media
+ An incredible blend of stealth and action. I haven't even mentioned the boss fights! + Looks great, sounds great. + I'm hesitant to comment too much on the story since I haven't finished the game, but I can't wait to see if it answers all my questions. If it ends up with some kind of both-sides, horseshoe-theory garbage, I'm coming back and re-writing this whole review, but I think it's commentary on fascism—whether it's addressing litigious transphobes or the Bush administration—is going to land on the correct side. + New abilities, new environments, new enemies, and new types of stages give the game fantastic momentum, hour after hour.
– Despite nailing a million little details throughout its enormous world, there are a few basic oversights that really bother me. The main character should have one more animation pose when launching into a jump. There's a stamina bar that recharges after dashing, but it's this teeny thing way off in the corner—it should make a noise when it's full, or the character could blink, or anything that would let me know she's ready to dash again. Switching between different types of grenades through a radial menu makes the character walk left and right. – Navigation. Characters tell you where to go next ("west of here"), but if you don't retain that dialogue, good luck making sense of the pause menu's clue ("go to the office"—okay, but which office, in which city?) Fast travel locations are often in weird spots. The radar's useless. The space between action levels provides a nice reprieve and good world building, but a map would have been nice. – Could probably stand to be an hour or two shorter. I can't think of a specific section I would cut—none of it's bad—but i know some of these rooms could go, and I wouldn't miss them.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🤍 Bottom Line: Play the danged game. This isn't "good compared to most of the Itch games I play." It is good. Play it. Buy it for your friends. Jumping, shooting, sneaking, and making fun of bigoted fascists—Aerannis has it all.

Riff x artist!reader Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Notes: hey Part twoooo is here! 🍄
Warnings: just bad writing, swearing
The morning sun was shining through my room as I packed my bag. John had told me in the evening to not draw again today. But he certainly couldn`t say anything against the fact that I wanted to go and buy things we needed. So I hid paintbrushes and pencils between the shopping list and money in my bag. My plan was to run as fast as possible to docs, then I had about ten minutes for a small sketch, After that I could do the errands and paint a little in the store while I talked to Valentina. After all, my brother could hardly object if I talked to another woman and was therefore a little late. Convinced of my plan, I ran to the apartment door and quickly said goodbye to my brother. I almost jumped down the stairs to the next floor. Hopefully the neighbor Mrs Murphy wouldn't stop me. She was always interested in the latest gossip from the block. Several times she had asked me if Tommy and I were going to get married soon. Why did everyone think I wanted to?
It wasn`t a long way to docs. I had been going there since I was a little girl, most times to look at the colorful candy. Once or twice valetina had given me a little chocolate. I had been overjoyed. Since her husband had died a while ago, I went at least once a week. Even if I had nothing to get from the shop. I just loved the little store and its cheerful owner. But my father had forbidden me to visit the store that often. "Too many bad young guys are going there " he had said. So i didnt visit Valentina regularly and if i was then only in the mornings. My father had said that it was the only time I should be out and about in the neighborhood, since the Jets were probably not up at that time of day yet.
I only had a few minutes to unpack my things. I sat down on a bench across from docs and started drawing. Quick strokes on the bright paper. It took only a few moments for the outline of the building. Then I got down to the details. The windows, the small display and the sign that hung above the door. The next time I looked up, I saw him. I thought I was dreaming, but in front of the store stood the young man from the subway train. He argued with Valentina.
"Hey, come on, just two minutes. I really need to talk to Tony.“
Could it really be him? And what was he doing here? Why was he arguing with Valentina?
Too many thoughts were in my head at once. I needed to draw. This time I was not interrupted. I couldn't help it and started sketching what was in front of me. More importantly I started to sketch him. His lean body, his paint-stained hands, his long fingers holding a cigarette. The brown tousled hair, the cheeky grin and those beautiful eyes. Everything was suddenly in front of me on the paper. Too big was the fear to forget him again.
"Fuck come on. I swear I won't steal anything."
"Well, maybe not this time. You've always stolen from me boy, don't think I'll let a criminal like you in my store again." Valentina's voice grew louder. It seemed to be very important to her, she was not someone who just raised her voice. But instead of worrying about Valentina, my thoughts were only filled with the man in front of me. She knew him, and that must mean she probably knew a name to that face. How much I would like to know his name. How much I would like to look at him from up close.
„Y/N "All at once I was torn from my thoughts. I had forgotten what my real goal was. I was running out of time.
"Y/N, sweetheart how nice to see you. Come on in. You don't have to be afraid of him anymore, I successfully chased him away. Come here and sit with me." she pointed at the chair by the window. "I haven't seen you for so long. How can I help you?
I gave her my list. She went right out and started looking on the shelves.
I chewed on my lower lip. Should I ask her? But she shouldn't think i was interested at all, otherwise it could lead to big problems. Besides, she had called him a criminal. That wasn't exactly a positive description.
"Who was that?"
"What do you mean, child?"
" the young gentleman you had a fight with? What did he want?"
Before she could answer, I heard footsteps and then the door to the basement open. Tony was standing there. I didn't really know him, we had only spoken once or twice. He worked and lived with Valentina. I think she saw him kinda as a son. He was tall and muscular. Most of the time he helped her with the heavy boxes from the warehouse or climbed up the ladders when something was needed from on top of the cupboards. Most of the time he looked a bit sad but still smiled friendly when he saw me in the store.
"Hey, what's this about? Who were you fighting with Valentina?" he looked worried at the woman in front of him, before giving her a kiss on the cheek to continue carrying boxes.
" your annoying friend was here again, asking for you"
"You mean Riff? I'm sorry he was here again. I told him you didn't want him here."
"If only he would listen. That boy is nothing but trouble."
Attentively I stood there and listened to the conversation. Riff? What kind of name was that? Somehow I had the feeling that I had heard this name before.
I looked at the clock above the door. It was already 10 minutes past the scheduled time. So I had only about 3 minutes to get back to the apartment in time. I had just spent too much time in front of the store. I paid and took the bag with my purchases from Valentina's hand. "Thank you very much. See you soon. I have to hurry or I'll be late. It gushed out of me before I heard the door close behind me. I ran to the next street corner and then started walking regularly. No one should notice that I had run all the way. That wouldn’t have been really ladylike. And Mrs Murphy would certainly ask me about it later or would gossip with the other neighbors. They definitely shouldn’t know I was that excited about a boy.
Fortunately John was in a good mood. He didn't say anything else about me being late, even though I got a slightly annoyed look when I stumbled through the door. But thanks to the good weather, he seemed to forgive me.
In my room I had the first chance to remember what I had experienced. And quickly I disappeared into a daydream about the mysterious man to whom I finally had a name. I thought about how it would be to run through his hair or touch his hand. He had had paint on his hand. Maybe he liked to paint too, I thought dreamily.
Wait. Paint. Painting…Painting ! "Crap" more swear words wanted to burst out of me but I thankfully remembered that my brother was sitting in the room next to me.
I couldn't see my drawing anywhere. I started to panic. Maybe I had lost it while running home. Or even worse, maybe I had left it with Valentina. I could not believe it. This could be horrible. If someone saw it… I wouldn’t know what to do.
I had to think of something as soon as possible, so that I could return to doc's store. And hopefully find my drawing before it might fall into someone’s hands.

Book of Boba, Episode 3 Review
Below is my review of The Book of Boba Fett, Episode 3: The Streets of Mos Espa. IT CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Since the first episode I’ve been trying to sift through my feelings about the way the Tuskens are portrayed and the role they have in this series. I’ve got no problem with the general idea of Boba joining a Tusken tribe and fighting on their side, but it felt to me like the story was leaning into Wild West stereotypes of indigenous populations and counting on the fact that Temuera Morrison was there to do the heavy lifting of representation.
But instead of writing about that I’m just going to link this twitter thread, which was actually written prior to Episode 3. I think it’s a really good perspective on everything that’s good about the representation in TBOBF while still highlighting the ways indigenous-coded characters can be used as props and then…disposed of.
Yes, I really hated that part! Thanks! Hated it!
It really sucks when a show puts time and effort into making you care about characters or a storyline before killing them off and then immediately yoinking you into a completely different storyline with different characters, which was how most of this episode felt to me.
In the present day storyline, Boba and Fennec are having a strategy meeting where the former torture droid is giving some exposition on how Mos Espa is divided up and controlled. The droid references “the sail barge disaster” but still no Huttslayer reference (C’MON). Their meeting is interrupted by a water monger who claims that a dangerous street gang of cyborgs is stealing from him.
They confront the street gang, which I have to assume is a popular alternative metal band in a surprise cameo to appeal to The Youths. Feel free to drop the band’s name in the comments.
Boba hires them and then goes back to the bacta tank for another dream sequence. He leaves the Tusken camp and rides a bantha to Mos Eisley. As many scenes as there are of Boba traveling places this show really should be called The Travelogue of Boba Fett.
There are some cute background references from The Mandalorian and then Boba reminds the Pykes about their agreement to pay the Tuskens for safe passage across the Dune Sea. When the Pykes drag their feet and complain that they’re *already* paying the Kintan Striders, Boba returns to the Tusken camp and discovers that while he was gone the Kintan Striders massacred everyone.
Yeah. So.
Meanwhile in the present timeline, the bacta tank opens and Boba is rudely awakened by Krrsantan, the wookiee working for the Twins. It turns out the Twins may have also been a red herring because after failing to kill Boba they announce that they are bowing out of the territory fight. The true enemy is not the Twins or the Mayor, it’s who the Mayor is working for…which is the Pyke Syndicate.
Oh and in the middle of all that Boba is gifted a rancor. Honestly he seems way more into owning a rancor than being Daimyo of Mos Espa. Maybe he should do that instead.
Things I Loved:
Master Assassin Fennec Shand seems to be living her best life, and good for her.
The return of the “Dank Ferrik” expletive from The Mandalorian, which is just…well, it’s the only one they have.
We also see Boba use “dank” as a replacement for “shit” or “trash,” making me wonder what the actual translation of it is.
Danny Trejo shows up as the rancor trainer. Now we just need Cliff Curtis and we’ll be on our way to a Six Days, Seven Nights reunion.
Boba’s undies have pockets. <3
Who had “Boba adopts a Rescue Rancor” on their BoBF bingo card. Anyone? Anyone?
Things I Didn’t Love (Besides Fridging the Tuskens):
I’m open to the idea that Boba might not know exactly how to handle being a crime boss, but nevertheless this is someone who has worked for and made deals with crime bosses for decades, and he seems perpetually dumbfounded by how all of this works. He was thwarted by a locked door, ffs. I don’t have a problem with him being human, but it bugs me when it feels like he’s being aggressively dumb.
I wasn’t sure where to put the fight with Krrsantan. Watching Boba slung around half naked and covered in lube was maybe the most confused and aroused I’ve ever been. 5/10. Really not sure about anything anymore.
The whole structure and pacing of this episode was weird. A friend compared it to the Sequel Trilogy, and I think that’s pretty accurate. There were parts I really enjoyed but nothing seemed to really fit together into a cohesive narrative.
Monster of the Week: Probably the rancor calf, who stole the show by being too depressed to lift its massive head. I know baby, I know.
Final Thoughts: Dank Ferrik.

An Unexpected Blue Wizard (3)
Summary: Gandalf’s apprentice, a blue wizard, joins Thorin’s Company early on in their journey to Erebor. Kíli finds their ‘backup wizard’ quite interesting.
Story covers entirety of the movie trilogy and beyond with slight AU. Early chapters focus on Kíli and an OC. Later story includes focus on Fíli and another OC. Thilbo is sprinkled in. Slow burn.
Cross posted to FF and AO3.
Chapter 3: Smoke
Tumblr media
Bilbo ran through the trees, Fíli and Kíli right behind him, toward the camp. “Orcs!” he cried out.
They had been on their way back from filling the waterskins in the early morning when a group of orcs had spotted them from the other side of the river. The foul creatures were not far behind them, but the river had at least given them enough delay to get back to the group.
The company was quickly armed, their packs and bedrolls abandoned as they met the hobbit and youngest dwarves at the edge of camp. Bilbo ran past and stopped beside Gandalf and Andréa to catch his breath as their adversaries descended on the company. Soon they were surrounded, weapons flinging and clanging in all directions.
Thorin noticed an orc about to strike down Bilbo and rushed to defend him, kicking Bilbo to the ground to clear the path of his sword, which cleaved the orc in half. He turned to block another orc, as yet another came up behind him.
An axe flew by, thrown by Dwalin into the head of an orc that was about to strike Ori.
Thorin plunged his sword deep into the first orc’s chest, and turned to deal with the second, only to find that Andréa had slipped between them. She thrust her sword up through the orc’s neck into his skull, then pulled it loose and moved to let his corpse fall beside her. As another two crested the hill behind them, Kíli shot one in the head.
Andréa followed the arrow’s path back to where he was standing and rushed to block an orc that was coming up behind him as he readied another shot. She shielded from the orc’s attack with her sword, which pushed her against Kíli’s back as he shot the second oncoming orc. As he turned to help her, she raised her staff with her left hand and a blue flame engulfed the orc’s face, killing it. Kíli blinked in shock at the sight, then looked around tentatively.
The group grew quiet, no living orcs visible in the vicinity. The dwarves slowly moved closer to each other, waiting to see if another would appear.
Andréa crouched to touch her hand to the ground, closing her eyes. “There’s one left, fleeing west.” She started walking in that direction. “Better to leave it,” Gandalf advised. She stopped on the edge of the hill, looking down through the trees. She gestured, grimacing. “But I can see it. It’s getting away.”
Kíli appeared at her side and loosed an arrow. It stuck in the orc’s head, and the creature fell to the ground and grew still. “Or not,” she amended, looking up at the young dwarf with admiration. He flashed her a proud grin.
As Kíli and Andréa rejoined the group, Fíli approached. “You are quite skilled in battle,” he said with mild surprise. Her face sombered somewhat, voice low. “I hate orcs.” “Naturally,” Kíli agreed. “But they were no match for the company.”
She gave him a silent look, then got distracted by Bilbo. He was bent over with his hands on his knees, catching his breath.
“Are you alright, Bilbo?” She asked gently, offering him a waterskin that had been tossed to the ground before the fray. He took it from her gratefully. “Oh, yes, I’m- Of course, why wouldn’t I be,” he wheezed, before drinking deeply. She put her hand on his shoulder. “You did well to be so evasive.” He shrugged, unconvinced. “Ah… Hobbit.” “I see well now why they chose you as a burglar,” she smiled. He looked up at her with gratitude for her friendliness, but shook his head. “I just got lucky.”
Thorin looked around the group. “Is anyone injured?” A sea of shaking heads were the reply. “Then let’s get moving.”
As they gathered their packs and ponies, Bilbo gave an acknowledging nod to Thorin, as thanks for having protected him from the orc that he’d cleaved in half. Thorin scoffed and turned away. Useless hobbit, Thorin huffed internally. He’d warned Gandalf that he couldn’t guarantee the hobbit’s safety, and here they were, their first scuffle, and Mr. Baggins didn’t even have a weapon. What sort of man didn’t know how to defend himself? He’s going to get himself killed.
As Andréa readied her pony, Dwalin stopped beside her and handed her a waterskin. “Oh.” She blinked as she took it. “Thank you.” He simply nodded and kept on, leaving her to stare after him in confusion before climbing on to Pansy.
-
The next night, Fíli was putting pipeweed in his pipe when Andréa sat down near him. She looked over at it curiously. “May I have some of that?” she asked, pointing to his loose crop. Fíli raised a brow but grabbed a generous pinch and placed it in her palm.
“Thank you.” She grinned and closed her hand, using the other to rummage in her bag. “You have a pipe?” Fíli laughed. She didn’t strike him as the type, and she certainly hadn’t pulled it out on any prior nights. “No.” Kíli and Fíli exchanged a confused look.
She pulled out a leather satchel the size of her fist and placed the tobacco inside, then shook it up to mix with whatever was already in the bag. Then she placed the satchel back inside her pack. Fíli felt like he’d been tricked. “You’re not going to smoke it?”
Kíli tried not to laugh, finding her quite odd. “You just… wanted to have it?” “No, I have a use in mind.” “And that is?” “To look ahead.” The brothers stared at her in confusion. She chewed her lip. “It might be easier to show you.”
They watched as she stood up, walking over to the campfire with her staff. She dipped the top of it into the fire to light it. The flames that burned around the blue glass were an unnatural teal that did not singe the wood.
This caught the attention of several of the dwarves, as well as Bilbo and Gandalf, who watched as she walked back to Fíli and Kíli with her strange torch.
She sat before them again, laying her staff on the ground so that the little fire was between them. Then she pulled out the satchel and took a pinch of its contents, sprinkling them over it, which turned the fire blue. She muttered softly in Quenya. The pieces of dried weeds and other plants burned in the flames and began to glow as deep indigo embers, floating above the staff’s gem. A thick grey smoke swirled around the embers as they formed the shape of a farmhouse.
Kíli leaned forward, mouth ajar. He looked from the embers to Andréa, who seemed to be in a trance. Her eyes reflected the blue flames but her gaze was beyond them. Gandalf approached silently to watch, Bilbo and Thorin each moving to do the same.
The embers and smoke swirled around again, the blue bits of burning plants becoming the image of a dragon flying through the hazy smoke, roaring fire in a tight circle. Kíli and Fíli glanced at each other with concern.
The images changed again, the glowing bits seeming to resemble two figures of different heights; the larger bearing a hat like Gandalf’s. The smaller figure might have been a dwarf. Before the glowing figures, the smoke formed many others that matched the height of the burning Gandalf.
The pipeweed kicked up once more, forming two large shapes that crashed and became a mountain. The smoke thinned into a fine line that snaked along one side of the mountain before swirling into the form of a bird that flew up and away, pulling the embers along with it into seven stars. Thorin narrowed his eyes, wondering at the meaning of these visions. The fire on the staff suddenly extinguished, along with the embers, and the smoke dissipated into the air.
“Your skills have improved,” Gandalf commended. She blinked and seemed to come back to her body. She took a deep breath, as though she’d been holding it, and looked up at him from the ground. “What?” “You’ve gotten better at that,” he repeated. Her voice was quiet as she looked down to the glass in her staff. “Thank you.”
He looked her over and frowned slightly. “What troubles you?” She glanced at Fíli and Kíli, then back up to Gandalf. She spoke in Quenya. “They don’t trust the elves.” He let out a small laugh. “Well, we knew that before we began.” He turned to walk away. “Don’t let it concern you.”
Kíli noted the concerned and distrusting expression Andréa had as she watched the grey wizard walk away. It bothered him that she’d spoken in another tongue. “Don’t let what concern you? The dragon?” She looked over to him, brows raised. “No, that’s not-” she pursed her lips and frowned, unsure what she should say. She put the satchel of weeds back into her pack and sighed, looking back to them. “May I give you a word of advice?”
Thorin feigned not to be listening as his nephews nodded. They leaned forward curiously. Her mouth curled into a secretive smile. “Your path is lined with strange allies.” Kíli’s brow raised. “Stranger than wizards and hobbits?” Andréa stifled a laugh. “No. Surely I’ll be the strangest of all.” She winked at him, which made him smile.
She looked over to where Gandalf had sat down on the other side of camp, her smile fading slowly. “But perhaps the most loyal,” she murmured. The brothers exchanged a look.
Thorin looked to Bilbo, raising a brow. Bilbo raised his brows and shrugged, concerned that the dwarf king seemed to think he might know what she meant by that, and doubly concerned that she had implied Gandalf wasn’t loyal to the company.
-
Late one afternoon, the group came across the ruins of a farm in the countryside.
“Now, see here, Peony,” Gandalf called, gesturing to Andréa to follow him. “Peony?” Kíli raised a brow. Gandalf nodded. “Peony Andréa.” “Like the flower?”
Andréa turned to see the group of dwarves trying not to laugh. “Do you mock my name?” At this, several of them let out laughs and snorts. Kíli raised his hands, a laugh in his voice as he grinned. “No, not at all. It’s… cute.” Bilbo - who didn’t see what was funny, but did like the name - shrugged. “I’ve always liked peonies.”
She glared at the lot of them and pointed her staff. “You may call me Andréa.” The dwarves composed themselves, but shared glances and raised brows.
She turned back to Gandalf. “And I shall ask you to stop calling me by my childhood name as well, Mithrandir.” He smirked, teasing her. “Oh, but it is cute.” She stuck her tongue out at him.
“You know, you used to show me a lot more respect.” She feigned confusion. “I don’t recall that.” Gandalf let out a laugh and clapped her shoulder. “Perhaps you’re right.”
She looked up at him affectionately, grinning at the sound of his raspy laugh. She put her hand over his and spoke in Quenya, “You have my respect.” He nodded in thanks. “As I was saying-” Andréa followed Gandalf into the ruined house. “A farmer and his family used to live here.” She looked about the space as he did, wondering silently if he had determined that from the wreckage, or if he’d known them at some point.
“I think it would be wiser to move on,” Gandalf called to Thorin. “We could make for the hidden valley.” She perked up at the mention of Rivendell. Thorin entered the house wreckage. “I have told you already. I will not go near that place.” “Why not? The elves could help us! We could get food, rest, advice.”
“I do not need their advice,” Thorin growled. “We have a map that we cannot read. Lord Elrond could help us.” Andréa’s brow raised. This was the first she’d heard of the map, but certainly Elrond was an ally of hers and Gandalf’s. She was about to agree with Gandalf when Thorin spoke.
“Help?” he scoffed. “A dragon attacks Erebor. What help came from the elves? Orcs plunder Moria, desecrate our sacred halls. The elves looked on and did nothing.” Andréa looked to Gandalf mournfully. Thorin was right; naturally he wouldn’t trust them. Gandalf met her gaze and pursed his lips, unsure how to argue the point.
Thorin stepped closer to Gandalf. “You ask me to seek out the very people who betrayed my grandfather. Who betrayed my father.” “You are neither of them. I did not give you that map and key for you to hold onto the past.” “I did not know that they were yours to keep!” Gandalf looked over to Andréa, and was met with a distrusting expression from the young wizard. He sighed heavily and walked off, shaking his head. He lamented how easily she was swayed by the dwarf leader.
“Everything alright?” Bilbo asked as Gandalf walked by. “Gandalf, where are you going?” “To seek the company of the only one around here that has any sense!” “And who’s that?” “MYSELF! Mr. Baggins.” He grumbled as he walked past the rest of the company. “I’ve had enough of dwarves for one day.”
“I don’t like this place either,” Andréa murmured, looking up at the fractured roof. It reminded her of her vision in the smoke. Thorin narrowed his eyes at her. “Why don’t you join Gandalf, then?” She met his gaze. “My place is with the company. I follow you.” “Mm.” He nodded respectfully and started walking away.
Bilbo entered the ruin and looked to Andréa with distress. “Is he going to come back?” She shrugged. “I imagine.” “What’s so awful about this dilapidated farmhouse?” Kíli asked, stepping over one of the broken walls to sit on it. “Seems cozy enough,” Fíli agreed, doing the same.
Andréa put her hand on one of the support beams. “Looks like our house after my mother passed.” Kíli looked up at her with concern. “What happened?” Fíli smacked his arm, but Andréa took a deep breath. “Mm. I was small, so… it’s a bit hazy.” She sat down beside Kíli and stared into the middle distance.
“I woke up in my father’s arms. He was running, and it was so dark I couldn’t see anything around us. But I heard… awful sounds behind us. Breaking. Roaring. He told me to be silent, so I didn’t ask what was happening. I knew it was something terrible. I could see it on his face.”
Bilbo sat down against the opposite wall, deep concern on his face. Andréa licked her lips. “We hid in a hollow tree in the woods. I must have fallen asleep again at some point, because I remember waking up after the sun rose. I don’t think he slept. I had never seen him like that. My father, you know, he wasn’t the sort to be afraid,” she smiled sadly. “But, he must have stood watch all night after running me there. He looked… empty.”
The company had all slowly gathered around, some out of sight, to listen to her story.
“After some hours, we walked back to the house. I couldn’t bring myself to ask him what happened to my mother, but… when we got there, I saw. Orcs had-” she paused to steady her breathing. “Orcs had come and-” She swallowed. “They just left her there, in the field.” She clutched her necklace through her shirt. “The house was black and burned. There was almost nothing we could save. So, we dug a grave. And we wept. And the next day my father said, ‘Let’s go on an adventure’, and we never spoke of it again.”
She looked up at Kíli. His face was distressed, and she felt a pang of guilt for having shared such a sad story. “Oh, don’t make that face.” She put her hand on his arm as though to comfort him. “It’s alright. It was a long time ago.” Kíli recalled how she’d sat up the night they’d teased Bilbo about night raids by orcs.
“Your father never spoke of her after that?” Bilbo asked. She smiled and waved her hand. “Oh, he spoke of her often. About how much I looked like her, or how she liked this or that food he was trying to get me to eat.” Her grin faded. “Just not of that night.”
“A father’s got to protect his bairn.” Gloin stepped closer, and only then did she realize that they’d all gathered around the house. Thorin stood in the doorway. “I am sorry for your loss,” he offered respectfully.
She put her hands up, wincing at the attention. “N-No, it’s fine. Worse things have happened to most of you. And even to me since then-” Dori stepped forward, brow raised in distress. “Worse things have happened to you than your home being burned down by orcs and digging your mother’s grave?” She rubbed her arm and shrugged. “Well… Yes?” Several in the group started talking at once.
She put her hands up. “I didn’t tell that story to upset all of you.” Bofur stepped forward, forcing an aloof expression. “Who’s upset? Dwalin, are you upset?” Dwalin grunted, as if offended by the question.
“I’m a bit upset,” Bilbo lamented. Andréa stood up. “I don’t want you to be upset, Bilbo.” She put her hands out to him, to help him up. “I think we should make camp, be merry, and have a proper rest so we can keep on in the morning.”
Thorin looked over to his nephews. “You heard her. Fíli, Kíli, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them. Óin, Gloin, get a fire going.”
--
Andréa had followed Thorin’s nephews to where they were keeping the ponies for the night. She was grateful for their good humour after her gloomy story, and the lack of follow up questions, and soon she’d forgotten about it entirely. She ran her fingers through Pansy’s mane, praising the pony for her hard work.
Kíli walked up and leaned over so his hair fell loose in his face. “Oh, me next, Peony.” “I told you, it’s Andréa.” She grabbed his head with one hand and pushed him away from her. “But Peony is cuter,” he grinned. “Exactly.” Kíli laughed. “You can say dwarrows but I can’t call you Peony?” She nodded and raised her brow at him pointedly. “Is that a problem?” He grinned. “Not at all, backup wizard.” “Don’t start, Fíli.” He stuck his tongue out at her, but laughed when she returned the gesture.
“Is it so difficult to call me the proper name?” “No,” he shrugged. “But Peony and Pansy, that just sounds right.” She gently kicked at his shin. “I’m not a pony.”
Fíli came over from where he’d been tending to one of the other mounts. “Are you bothering our wizard again?” “Yes, Kíli’s just awful,” Andréa agreed, walking over to the older brother as though for protection. Kíli rolled his eyes. “Awful.” Fíli wrapped his arm around Andréa’s shoulders and shook his head. “Why must you be like this, brother?” Kíli put his hand to his chest dramatically. “The horror of being called the wrong name. Petunia, was it?”
Andréa raised a brow and looked up at Fíli. “Did you encourage this behaviour growing up, or-?” Fíli played along, his voice mock-serious. “No, he’s incorrigible. The best thing is to ignore him entirely. He can’t stand it.” He turned them around so that their backs were to Kíli. “Like a child.” “Mm, I see,” she nodded along thoughtfully.
Kíli stepped forward, wrapping his arms over both their shoulders as he pressed his face between theirs. He narrowed his eyes, voice mock-threatening. “You forget that I’m bigger than both of you.” “How could I forget, my heavy prince,” Andréa teased, reaching up to tickle his stubbly chin. “Ugh,” Kíli pulled away and shivered at the sensation. “Unpleasant.” Andréa covered her mouth with one hand to stifle a laugh.
Fíli let go to face Kíli once more, face growing serious. “Let’s do a quick count.” He turned to the girl. “Dinner must be almost done. Would you go make sure they send some our way? Sometimes we’re forgotten.” She seemed genuinely concerned by the thought. “Of course.” She turned toward camp and patted Kíli on his shoulder as she passed him. “Behave for Fíli.” “Never,” he grinned.
-
When she walked back up to camp, she saw that Bombur was still fussing over their food and nobody was eating yet. She looked around for Bilbo, and found him sitting against an outer wall of the farmhouse, beside Bofur of all people. Bilbo was smoking a pipe while Bofur was whittling something she couldn’t quite make out. She smiled to herself as she watched their quiet conversation on her way over. She hoped that Bilbo was feeling more welcome in the company.
“What’s that?” She asked in greeting, pointing at Bofur’s hands while she walked up to them. Bofur looked up in mild surprise, then held up the piece of wood with a slow, warm grin. “Gandalf,” he chuckled.
She sat down in front of them and carefully took the carving. Her eyes were wide with wonder as she turned it in her fingers; a miniature wooden wizard, as long as her hand. The face wasn’t super detailed, but enough to recognize his nose, his long beard. The hat was spot-on, and the robe was detailed enough that the folds looked real. There was no mistaking that it was Gandalf.
“Bofur’s got a real gift for carving, hm?” Bilbo smiled. “Bah, it’s hardly my best work,” he said dismissively. “It’s beautiful,” she said at last, looking over at Bofur more earnestly than he had expected. The older dwarf wrapped his hands around the one that she was holding it with. “Why don’t you keep it?”
She looked embarrassed by the suggestion. “Oh, no- I couldn’t-” He leaned forward, insistent. “I would have just thrown it in the fire, lass.” She pursed her lips and nodded. “Alright, then.” She looked down at the little wizard again. “Thank you so much.”
They sat in a comfortable silence a moment longer until Bilbo piped up, continuing the conversation she’d walked in on, about a particularly bad rivalry that had sprung up between two farmers in the shire one year. Bofur laughed softly, taking out a new piece of wood, letting his hands and blade work it into the beginnings of a new carving.
While he listened to Bilbo, Bofur glanced over periodically, noting how Andréa stared reverently at the piece she’d been handed, turning it over and over in her hands until she was satisfied.
She took off her pack and pulled out a piece of cloth, carefully wrapping the carving in it before tucking it safely away. Bofur smirked a bit to himself, finding her awe at his little doll sweet. Like a child, he thought. It did not escape him that she may not have had many toys once their house had burned down.

luna for the headcanons thing pls pls pls
Yes!!! I love giving Luna headcanons, so here ya go bestie!
(Read under cut)
Luna Lovegood headcanons
First of all, definitely a trans girl, no doubt about that. She lived in a very open environment and was able to explore her gender identity at a young age. Her mother sewed her dresses to wear, long, flowing garments that Luna thought were the most beautiful things she’d ever seen. Her father taught her how to make flower crowns and crowns of leaves, and she’d wear them with her dresses.
She didn’t have to come out to her parents. Her femininity at a young age simply led to her simply stating that she was a girl, and that her name was Luna. Her parents were very accepting (and Xenophilius is trans himself because fuck you of course he is, so he was super supportive of Luna).
She named herself after the moon because her parents loved astrology and they taught her all the different planets and their moons, and all the different stars in the sky and how to spot the constellations.
The Lovegoods were definitely pagan, I mean they were all about nature and spirituality. They always marked every single holiday, staying up all night on the solstices, lighting huge bonfires, and making wreaths to wear. Pandora played the lyre, Xenophilius sang songs and Luna would act out stories and poems.
Cornish, and they speak the language as well because being bilingual is sexy.
Speaking of pagan, Pandora’s funeral would have also been pagan, obviously.
She’d have a natural burial, and Luna would recite a poem, and the rest of the family would also give eulogies, recite poetry, or thank the Goddess. Four members- including Xenophilius and Luna- would stand at each point on the compass and “invoke” each element (Air in the East, Fire in the South, Water in the West and Earth in the North) and give thanks to them. There would also be music at the wake, played by members of the family. Drums, tambourines, flutes etc. Luna played her mother’s favourite song on her lyre.
When she reached Hogwarts, I don’t think she was drawn to anyone in particular right away, I think she had better relationships with the teachers more than the students. She got on really well with Professor Sprout, and I think Hagrid really liked her too, because they’d talk about all the different magical creatures together, and Luna would tell him about all the creatures her and her father wrote about in the Quibbler.
Academically, she was very smart, and did well in most of her classes, but she didn’t particularly find a lot of them overtly interesting to her, unless she was able to put her own twist to it, which usually she wasn’t. In Potions, she wasn’t able to brew her own stuff, make up recipes, or use a variation of the recipe. Snape was much too strict with her and as a result, she didn’t do very well, which made her more upset than she would let on since she had been really good at potions at home.
She particularly shone in third year, since she was able to take classes more suited to her, like Astrology and Divination. Astrology was her favourite of course, and she’d talk about it all the time with Ginny.
However, in third year she also became particularly interested in DADA, mainly because she formed a strong friendship with Professor Lupin. Remus had been informed that Luna was trans, and since he is as well, they had things in common, and were able to talk about it with each other, Remus sort of taking Luna under his wing a little. They’d sit in his office and drink tea and Luna would give him copies of the Quibbler, which he’d happily read.
Luna was actually the first to figure out that Remus was a werewolf, but she didn’t tell anyone, not even him. She didn’t think it was her secret to share, nor did she think it changed anything. But she did find it fascinating, and read a lot of books on lycanthropy. After Remus had left, Luna told him that she knew and she asked if she could write some articles about it in the Quibbler, to raise awareness, or if he’d like to write any articles. Remus agreed to let her write something, and she wrote a three page article about werewolf inequality (but careful not to mention Remus by name). She did interview him about it, and he said that he was proud of being a werewolf, that it was actually very cool at times, but that it was simply wizarding society that had forced him to be ashamed. She wrote all this down, and it became the most bought copy of the Quibbler, as lots of students at Hogwarts wanted to read it, and they shared it with their friends and parents. So despite Remus not being able to come back to Hogwarts as a teacher, he did receive tons of letters in support of him from parents and students who had read the article and put two and two together.
Friends with Ginny by third year! Luna actually took a while to warm up to Ginny, thinking she was this loud, athletic, snobbish type, but then Luna got to know her and realised that she wasn’t that at all. Ginny was loud, but in a contagious laughter sort of way, and she could be very quiet and calm when she wanted to. She was athletic, but chatted animatedly about Quidditch teams, and Luna couldn’t help but listen. And she wasn’t snobbish, quite the opposite. She was the only person who listened to Luna, and discussed her ideas rather than swat them away impatiently. Luna made Ginny flower crowns, and Ginny stayed up with her all night during solstices. They became very close.
Ginny was the first student at Hogwarts that Luna told about being trans, and Ginny came out to her as being bisexual. And they were very supportive of each other, as well as being great at keeping each other’s secrets. They trusted each other with their lives, and would always stand up for the other. If Luna was getting picked on, Ginny would go feral and start fights. Although she eventually stopped, since it made Luna more upset. So she stuck to just being there for Luna (and maybe slipping a potion into bullies’ morning pumpkin juice that made them cluck like a chicken. But Luna didn’t need to know about that...)
That being said, Luna could get angry too of course. When she heard an older girl make fun of Ginny behind Ginny’s back, Luna wordlessly went up to her turned the girl’s hair blue with a wave of her wand. Ginny laughed her head off when she found out.
It was through Luna’s bond with Ginny, that she realised that she wasn’t interested in either the romantic or sexual side of relationships. At first she assumed that it was because Ginny was a girl, and she may not be attracted to girls, but it got her thinking about boys too, about everyone. And she just didn’t want that sort of relationship with anyone. She loved her platonic relationship with Ginny, and that’s how she wanted all of her relationships to be like.
I feel like she also had a close bond with Neville, and they gave each other plants as birthday gifts.
Projecting a little bit here, but Luna with Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder, spending hours by herself making up fantasies and constructing worlds in her head, making up new characters, and getting so invested in them that she regularly saw herself as her characters. I feel like this started because of the trauma from losing her mother. She didn’t tell anyone about it, or at least nothing in detail, but she tried to explain it a bit to Ginny, who knew to leave her alone when Luna would sit by herself.
MaD also made Luna a little more detached from her gender identity, especially if she was acting as one of her characters (again I’m projecting here) who were either male or genderless. She still identified as female, but in a much more looser, fluid way, and even experimented with she/they pronouns, which she eventually decided she liked. (If this were set in the modern world, I can also imagine her using neopronouns such as xe/xer or fae/faeself, though in the canon world, she may have also tried out it/its).
Doesn’t know much about the muggle world, but Hermione gave them a copy of Alice In Wonderland which they loved. And if I were to headcanon Luna liking a muggle band/artist they’d probably like anything psychedelic or nature-like, maybe the early stuff of Pink Floyd (yes, Dev, I’m thinking about Atom Heart Mother).
Went travelling after Hogwarts, where she met Rolf Scamander, and they hit it off immediately. Very similar to each other, and soon became close friends. I also headcanon Rolf as aro/ace so their relationship basically became like Luna’s and Ginny’s.
Their house was filled with all sorts of plants and animals. Rooms were lined with trees filled with Bowtruckles, and owls flitted in and out of windows, cats slinking about the place, so many frogs. My god, their house was wonderful.
Adopted Lorcan and Lysander because ffs not everyone has to have a nuclear family jkr 🙄. And parents also don’t have to be romantically or sexually involved with each other either; Luna and Rolf had a good relationship, both wanted to be parents, so they raised the twin boys together. And Lorcan and Lysander had a fantastic childhood, can you imAGINE?!
Godmother of Lily Luna, obviously. And Harry and Ginny’s kids loved going round Luna’s place, so more often than not, the house was filled with not only the entire natural world, but also a bunch of children running about the place.
Oh also, Luna has nymph ancestors. They just do, okay?

Reading your various posts over the last few months, I’m surprised that you ship endgame Klaine tbh. Wouldn’t you have preferred a single Kurt living his best life in NY, with a hugely successful career and varied love life? Why are you sure Blaine’s for him? You also defend Blaine on occasions, fair enough, I’m not here to bash Blaine, but given Kurt’s own issues, is Blaine the right man for him? I’m confused though because at other times you seem quite critical of Blaine, The use of the term that he had a “facade”. I’m just wondering what’s in your mind regarding the Klaine relationship throughout the seasons.
Because Kurt Hummel loves Blaine Anderson, and Blaine Anderson loves Kurt Hummel. They're best friends first, and even through every up and down, through all the growing they BOTH do, they still want each other at the end of the day. There's no one else. A couple that struggles and grows overtime together without bashing the others freedom of choice to see other people (no matter how questionable it is) is good enough for me.
Blaine makes Kurt happy. Kurt chose Blaine for a reason. Let the dudes have their insecurities and struggles, it's a learning experience to grow as people - together and apart. If Kurt in canon never got back with Blaine after the S4 break-up, and remained single then I would've supported it because all I give a fuck about is him succeeding and growing as a person. But Kurt, fictional as he may be, can make up his own mind and me deciding that his choices are everyone's else's fault (Blaine, his dad, Rachel, etc) because he can't think for himself isn't how I play. He's independent as fuck, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be with the person he chose! Kurt doesn't make decisions on a fly, so he wouldn't have taken Blaine back if he didn't truly want to be back with Blaine, he wouldn't have stuck around Ohio after his dad's tests came back negative regarding the cancer. He loves this dude.
And hey, they compliment each other super well. Blaine is the person who gives Kurt the encouragement to stand up for himself against Karofsky. Kurt is the person who helps Blaine face a fear about prom, while also offering the support of skipping if Blaine is too uncomfortable. Blaine supports Kurt enough to transfer from his safe space school back to an openly homophobic one, and Kurt supports Blaine through his win of the lead for West Side Story - which I am sure was a struggle for both of them. And when given the opportunity to move onto someone else, they find their way back to each other. They're young, so expecting their relationship to be some fluffy fantasy where nothing goes wrong and they're always happy is dumb and I don't want it. I like my angst (so long as the issue the angst caused is brought up and not brushed over - like the cheating from Eli the Lighthouse or Chandler? The car scene? The fighting in s5 that resolved in a heart-to-heart twice? The lying about June fiasco? And then Blaine and Kurt confiding in therapy at long fucking last because they knew they needed help because something was wrong with THEM AS THE INDIVIDUAL NOT THE OTHER PERSON! That's mature growth from BOTH parties and its chefs kiss content).
Two people with issues should be free to date each other, having issues shouldn't be the deal breaker - knowing your boundaries and what you can and can't handle involving putting your issues above another persons should and it's why hey break up in s6 (which I still think is dumb in the WHY they break up out of everything - toothpaste, Kurt? TOWELS, BLAINE? You couldn't fight over what to do with the extra space in the loft once Rachel moved out?! That would've made more sense for a three hour fight! Ffs). It just takes making complicated choices sometimes and taking criticism with a pinch of salt. They clearly have their fair share of issues, but so what? Kurt's lack of physical affection and intimacy gets resolved (for season 6 standards of a brush by comment, but still) and Blaine's insecurities gets resolved (again, by s6 brush by comment - though we still see the change on screen with their personality shift so I accept it even if s6 is so bad). They BOTH got the help they needed for their issues, and still wanted the other at the end of the day. It wasn't one growing while the other remained stuck as the same person they were in the beginning and then pulled the other back to their old ways. Kurt began to be more open with his intimacy issues and Blaine gained his confidence stride back. It's not the others job to fix their issues, it's their own job. And they both realize that - the one thing s6 did right. Which ugh, giving s6 any compliment is nasty.
Kurt deserves the best, and he wouldn't settle or marry someone he didn't truly believe was the best (although fuck the idea that it was joined at the last minute and in a barn - there was no marriage licence issued, not accepting that bullshit. Santana and her choice can have it to themselves). That's good enough for me! And the fact they're BOTH successful at the end with a KID is proof enough that Kurt made the right choice. And Blaine is a lucky bastard.

Riff x artist!Reader Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Notes: sorry guys.😭 I wasnt feeling that great in the last weeks, thats why it took me so long to write a new Chapter. I m trying my best, Friends.✨Hope you like it. Stay Hydrated, love Mai💗
Warnings: bad grammar
Desperate about what had happend to my painting, I sat on the fire escape and pondered. I had to find a plan as quickly as possible. Preferably one that could still work out today. It was already in the afternoon. The sun was shining between the skyscrapers of the city. I saw mrs Murphy lugging her groceries across the street, talking to the janitor of the building across the street. She was probably spreading the latest gossip she had heard at the market. I found myself thinking about Riff again. I had heard his name before - I was convinced of it by now. Maybe mrs Murphy had talked about him once. I thought about how she would spread gossip about me and Riff. I would much rather have that, than stories about me and Tommy of whether or not we were engaged.
Only now the stories about me and Riff were not even that unrealistic. I thought with horror that Mrs Murphy could have found my drawings. If that had happened, then I was as good as dead. My father would probably lock me up in our apartment for months and John would lock up my stuff, or worse, throw it away.
John couldn't stand it if I had feelings for a jet. Or any gang member. He's dreamed of seeing me and Tommy together for too long. Nothing could stop him. Sometimes I think about what I would do if women had the same rights as men. I wouldn't be here anymore. Maybe I would travel around the world, or wear pants. But these kind of thoughts were pointless.
I thought I had reached a new low point of the day, when suddenly I had an idea.
John really wanted me and Tommy to get together. That was for sure. So what if I just played along.
"Brother, I have a question. I know I've already been to docs once today. But is there any way I can go there again real quick? I'll be back in 15 minutes I promise."
" I don't think so. I don't like you spending so much time there. Those gang boys hang out there a lot. That's no place for a young lady like you."
" I know, I know John. But you know I've been thinking about it and...I'd like to ask Tommy out.“ i tried to sound as honest as possible. „ And he's coming to see you tonight. So I thought it would be nice if I got him his favorite chocolate from Valentina. He really likes it and I would love to have a present for him. He is always so generous to me. Please John."
"If that's the case, then thats fine with me. I'm glad you finally fancy him. I've always said you'd make a beautiful couple. But be back in time."
I really hoped he didnt notice my fake smile. The idea of me and Tommy as a couple was too horrible. Nevertheless, I could not help but rejoice. If I was lucky, the painting was still where I had lost it.
I walked through the noisy streets of new york. Past the paperboys on the street corner. A confident look on my face. A bag in one hand. The other one was nervously playing with the hem of my skirt. A habit since childhood. Father had always hated it. He said that my insecurity could be seen from miles away. Besides fidgeting was nothing what a young woman in my social rank did.
Fortunately for me, Valentina had not yet closed. Without thinking further, I went into the store. At first glance it was dark and no one was to be seen. But I heard voices coming from the basement. It had to be Tony and Valentina.
"They will be with me soon," I thought. I was overwhelmed that I was so lucky again. There was no one in the store, which meant I could search intensively for my picture. Without having to find a stupid excuse like "I dropped my pearl earrings" . This thought made me smile.
I went to the table where I had been sitting in the morning. This was the last time i Hand Seen my painting. But instead of my drawing, there was only a pack of cigarettes. The box was almost empty. Only one cigarette was still in it. Dark blue paint was stuck to the side of the box. I took it in my hand to have a better look. Even though my brother and father had the habit of smoking, I had never held such a pack in my hand before. My brother said it was not something suited for me. Just like alcohol.
I had always kept to the rules of the two men, but in this moment the feeling of curiosity overcame me for the first time. What would happen if I would not keep to these rules. But before I should continue to think about whether I should dare to smoke a cigarette or drink a sip from the gin bottle that stood on the top shelf of the kitchen, the door opened behind me. Without giving it much thought, I put the pack of cigarettes in my pocket.
Standing in front of me were Tony and...
Not Valentina. It was Tony and Riff. The two were still engaged in their conversation. Neither had noticed me.
"Come on Tony, it will be fun for you to dance again. And please let me know if you find out anything."
Nervously I started playing with the hem of my skirt again. I wanted to stare at the floor but instead I looked at him again. As if we were the only two people on this planet. He had a beautiful laugh. One of those laughs you always want to hear. His whole face was beaming.
He turned his head a little to the side. With his left hand, unnoticed by Tony, he reached into the bowl next to him.
"Would he look at me? Would he know it was me who had drawn him like a madwoman in front of the store. Maybe he'd say something to me..."
The thoughts just bubbled in my head. I had the feeling of completely losing my mind. I didn't even know this young man! What was i thinking?!
„Yeah, we'll see. And hey, Riff! Don't steal milkyways again." Tony tried to take the candy out of Riff's hand. But Riff was faster, he turned around and ran past me without giving me a glance. I didn't realize what had happened until the door had closed behind him and Tony had said my name out loud several times.
The rest of the day felt numb. I bought the chocolate for Tommy and asked Tony as uninterested and normal as I could about the drawing. But Tony just gave me a knowing look and told me to ask Valentina about the drawing. Tony definitely knew more than he wanted to say. He had probably found the drawing himself. Normally I would be freaking out now. Or start asking Tony about every detail he knew. But the disappointment that Riff hadn't even noticed me, had already triggered a different feeling.
Lost in my thoughts, I walked home. I hadn't been feeling this low in a long time. Now I had to go on this stupid date with Tommy. And my excuse was pointless. With my head down I walked along the street. Not knowing that on the other side, across from docs, an excited young man was walking up and down the road. In the small pocket of his ripped shirt, was a carefully folded sheet of paper.

Oh how I love to read you shit dumping on NEC is there any other stucky ff that brings that out of you because I’m ready to receive (was just looking through your asks I loved it)
honestly there are a lot of other big fics i dont like but that mostly comes down to personal preference versus actually fucked up stuff they contain like NEC does … but while im on the subject again can i just say that i was watching the old and then the new west side story (stories?) the other day and my eye twitched both times when tony and riff said “womb to tomb/sperm to worm/birth to earth” because i still can’t believe that everyone thinks the quote came from NEC.
