Nonhuman Alter Flag!

the symbol is a simplified version of the nonhuman alter symbol on pluralpedia that we made, the dark blue represents the unity between all types of nonhumans, the purple represents the supernatural and a separation from humanity, the yellow represents those who find joy in both human and nonhuman experiences, the light green represents those who enjoy all of the human experience, and the dark green represents our place here on earth together, no matter where we are from there are some variations under the cut!

does the term wyvern ever show up outside if heraldry? Got in a silly argument about whether wyverns are dragons and the other person is adamant that wyverns are mundane animals while term dragon exclusively denotes demonic creatures which is a version of the Wyverns Are Not Dragons argument I've never hear before and really doesn't sound right to me, but you always have some really cool information I never knew so I figured Id ask

The thing with wyvern is that it's not directly connected to any mythological concepts. The word and its many relatives and derivatives - including the Welsh gwiber and the French vouivre - literally means "viper".

So you can find references using similar words... but they refer to dragons, serpents, vipers and their derivatives. Until heraldry took the term to mean a two legged dragon in the 1600s at the latest, it was synonymous with dragon or serpent (those are the same thing). The Sockburn Dragon, for instance, is referred to as a "monstrous and poysonous vermine or wyverne, and aske or werme".

In general, I go by what the text calls it. Doesn't matter how many legs it has or if it has wings or not, if the text calls it by a name then that's what it is.

Unfortunately a lot of modern retellings decide that, if a dragon is depicted with two legs, it has to be referred to as a wyvern, even though the original text uses dragon or worm or whatever term.

So is there something textually referred to as a wyvern? I used to think that the classic wyvern story was that of the wyvern of Coed-y-Moch or Llyn Cynwch in Wales.

But the original wasn't referred to as a wyvern! The English translation is wyvern, but the original Welsh refers to a gwiber!

So is this a reference to a wyvern? Are gwibers wyverns? Depends. Are guivres, wivres, and vouivres wyverns? Where do you want to draw the line? Some of these have a more developed folklore than the wyvern. You could take every reference to vipers and run with it, or you could count each variation as its own thing.

Incidentally, the name of the venomous weever fish is derived from the same viperw origin! And most of its names are dragony. There's E. vipera, T. draco, in English it's weever, in French it's vive, in Greek it's drakaina!

So in short: wyvern is more or less synonymous with serpent/dragon/viper, and only really became distinct when heraldry took it.

Even shorter answer: your friend's wrong, wyverns are dragony as fuck.

so. u know how i said before that doopliss was raised in an environment where he's not used to ppl being faithful to their passions? yes well, that's based on my personal hc that he was the lovechild of eve and podley (y'know, the twilighter mum of three and the barkeep from rogueport). to recap actual canon, the two are ex-lovers who had dreams of performing in musical theatre together (eh eh see where im going w here?) eve ended up getting into broadshroom by herself, to which podley felt like he was holding her back and decided to run away. bc he SUCKS. which just made eve drop out from the show. so yeah ! the reason why i believe doopliss to have a flippant/non-committal attitude to everything is bc of how quickly his father gave up on his mother, and how easily his mother gave up on her dreams. not to mention he would've been raised in that stuffy apartment eve mentioned. i think the idea of 'starting from the bottom' def let a sour taste in doopliss' mouth.

the parrot was a gift to doopliss when he was younger, but he never rlly cared abt the guy, and it got closer to eve anyway. BUT when doopliss turned into a duplighost, he ran away with the parrot to keep his name-curse functioning (like father like son)

doopliss is one of the ONLY bad guys mario faces that's smart enough to expect being defeated, but it doesn't mean he won't make a show out of it ! and def does not mean he's stopping there. chp 4 body swap is a product of doopliss projecting his inner drama gaze onto the game and seeing how 'the audience' will react to mario(tm)'s greatest misdirect and milking it for all its worth bc hes an asshole and we love that for him ! but ye basically, to doopliss, fun trumps attempting to win. nothing comes from trying anyway, he'd say 🤪

doopliss meets and starts dating mimi for a short time during the events of The Void, and they have a MESSY messy break up when he realizes she's part of a gang trying to erase the life he's so carefully cultivated. the breakup is when doopliss comes to full terms with how much he cares for where he's at in his life rn, so he takes mimi's attempts at justifying her plan V defensively.... after the void closes, they talk again and now they're literally the bestest of friends! they've seen each other at their most vulnerable, so they're super comfy w each other's rotten-ness lawl

he tags along w beldam bc 1) the thing he based his entire identity around just lost its meaning. and 2) he's directionless bc of that, so when the opportunity comes up to tag along w someone who (maybe?) has it together, he's like 'omg what the fuck ever' and just joins (this does not help him mentally in the long run, ofc). he's pretty messed up post-game until vivian finds him and slowly coaxes him out of his slump.

he has the world's most surreal experience when he's pretending to be zip toad. a successful actor? from humble beginnings? who's had a relatively easy life? huh?? the two hang out a lot post-ttyd, both being in the same industry n all, and doopliss rlly has no idea what to make of him bc like, yeah the difference in upbringing between them is refreshing and new, but he's also bitter bc he looks at the guy and doesn't know how he turned out the way he did in comparison. and it frustrates him ! bc he doesn't like coming to terms with his problems being rooted in something he apparently internalized.

About Little Women

Soooo Im in quarentine so you are going to read me rambling about random things. First it is the new Little Women movie, because it is soo good.

The first time that people told me about this movie I roll my eyes. Like Im not all about period dramas and I already watch a movie about the book that I also read. Like what new could you do whit the Little Women original material? Well I was wrong.

Just as everybody told me the direction of Greta Werming is fantastic. You could see the good desicition, the focus on the interesting things and damn the time jumps add so much at the story, it totally change the narrative.

First, the 8 years before warning only appeared one time, the rest of the movie the timejumps are made only by the color filter, the escenarios, the sutil makeup and the cloths. Like how is not that marveling? In no moment is confused or distracted. And I am the person who cant kept the track of the most simple things like I played Zelda’s ocarine of time and I was confused all the time.

The story of Jo, Laurie and Amy is told so cleverly. The first we saw is Amy and Laurie in Europe, with he suffering because Jo rejected him and Amy trying to reach to him as a friend and he been a complete douch. So, when we saw the side of Jo and Laurie the simpaty go for Jo, and we dont saw a love story, we saw Laurie expecting something more from Jo and Jo avoiding it. At the same time we saw the relationship of Jo and Amy, the jelousy of the sisters made the Amy and Laurie marriage more a problem of pride than love. All the time the empaty is in Jo and Amy never in Laurie.

Meg character is so good in the movie. We saw first the hard part of her marriage life so, when we saw the young love part we understand Jo’s fears over the desitions of her sisters. But at the end the story is about Meg strenght, almost at the end we saw the spouses talking and resolving their life, the fact that the last that we saw is the weeding is so smart.

For all the movie we love Beth so much, like we saw all of the other characters doing so stupid things but Beth is absolute perfect, but never unreal. God she get sick because she helped the poor. When she died we are as devasted as the sisters, but I loved, absoluted loved that the movie take the time and we heard of beth herself that she is ready to die, that she is in peace. It would be so easy to focus on the pain that she left behind.

The big problem with the original Little Women is Jo’s ending. The women that always said that don’t want to married, that was sick of romantic love being the center of every women life fall in love and married at the end. Yes she did it in her own terms, but still. But the movie fix it in a genius way. Like god I cried all the escene. At the end Jo wrothe her novel about the life of she and her sisters, and we saw her great romantic ending when she is talking with her editor. All the romance is in the book inside the movie and they literally said that even when it didn’t make sence with the character it need to happen for the book to sell. And at the end Jo was in the school, teaching along her sisters and her husband is there, but we could imagine how it goes, in this movie their romance could be more intelectual, less romantic, more friendship tipe, they let it to us. And over all, the movie told us that Jo get married BECUSE this is a movie, but it told us that there is a real Jo, somewhere else who didnt.

Finally, I remember the Little Women movie that I watch in my childhood and Jo’ school was played as an ending for Jo to had something to do, almost as a replacement to had her own children. In the 2019 version we know that the lack of good schools for young girls and children is a problem. Jo opening a school is a political statement, founding in the value that her family had to help their community.

2019 Little Women by Greta Gerwig is one of the best movies that I ever saw.

Who would be the protagonist of the guild, then? Are they a set protagonist or are they customizable? Or are they, like the Arcana's MC, invisible and for us to imagine? Thank you for your time and good luck with your project!! (Oh and also, does that mean that every episode of Capital Purges is gonna be its own game, with its own characters and storylines, or..?)

In terms of story, they’re the “member of The Devout” I spoke of in the last line (here). The protagonist comes from a disgraced family within Arawn, and are sent on the guild mission as a way to pardon their family and grant them “ascension” within the order. Only their backstory is set, for story reasons. Everything else would be up to a hypothetical player. I don’t imagine the character would be visible, but would of course be able to make choices in dialogue, story, route…

As for the different episodes, I have three total. I’m thinking the other two will be novellas or comics of some sort, if I ever get around to them. If not, they’ll just be background information:

The Guild, which is my main project;

Newland, a hard prequel to The Guild, revolving around Raul’s time in Pyre, which is when most of the characters met;

Redholt, which focuses on Baldemar and Adalgisa’s family, and tells the story of Baldemar’s return to Werme after more than a decade away.

Both The Guild and Newland are fully planned out. All three have their own, specific casts, but with returning characters: the six, core members of the guild.

(first time trying to write an id, if anyone has suggestions on how to improve let me know/gen)

A combination of the terms Cosmicgender and Vesility. For when an aspect of yourself effects other aspects of yourself (gender, orientation, alterhumanity, etc), and is so vast and complex that one is only able to process a small bit of it at a time. Like looking at the night sky through a telescope.

I coined this for myself but anyone is free to use it! credit is appreciated but not required.

I am also thinking about coining a term specifically for the sub identities that are linked to ones cosmicgender/cosmicvesility, let me know if you would be interested in that!
