The Silent Criminal (双夭记) Whump List

Whumpee : Shi Jing Yao played by Leo Li and Long Yao played by Wen Sheng

Synopsis : Dastardly thieves hatch a murderous plan in a quiet, sleepy town. They plot to seize a box containing a powerful weapon that has the potential to bestow its bearer with devastating powers. Long Yao is high-born royalty and a skilled martial artist. He decides to embark on an undercover mission to find out what has happened to the weapon. His quest leads him to cross paths with Shi Jing Yao, a lowly town investigator. (MDL)

Ep 1 : Attacked, barely avoiding the sword, scared (comedic) — Tied up with a rope — Sword at his neck — Pinned to the ground, stepped on, grabbed by the collar

Ep 2 : Imprisoned, chained, hanging by his wrists above cold water, shirt bloody, knife at his throat, whipped, screaming in pain, defiant — Still chained, released — Lightly tapped on his chest, in pain — Scared, dizzy, collapses (comedic) — Slapped

Ep 3 : Thrown to the ground — Dizzy, hands on his ears, in pain

Ep 4 : Hit, falls to the ground — Thrown to the ground

Ep 5 : Learns his father is dead, pretending to be fine — Hood on his head, hands tied

Ep 6 : Hands tied — Imprisoned — Finds out his father is alive and living with another family, shocked

Ep 7 : Grabbed by the collar — Hit in the chest by his father, collapses on the ground, concern for him, teary-eyed — Fighting, choked, thrown to the ground, spitting blood

Ep 8 : His father dies in front of him, crying — Dizzy, hands on his ears, in pain — Teary-eyed — Arm twisted

Ep 9 : Not whump but they hug each other and it was so cute and awkward — Poisoned powder thrown at him, collapses on one knee — Crying, unwilling to sacrifice his friends — Drinking, drunk, depressed

Ep 10 : Drunk — Depressed

Ep 11 : (Flashback) Forced to drink some poison

Ep 12 : Hit by some poison, in pain, collapses on the ground, unconscious (Revealed he was pretending) — Given an antidote

Ep 13 : Fighting — A friend dies in front of him, shocked, crying — Arrows shot at him, protected — Surrounded by enemies, fighting a lot of people, hit a cut multiple times, spitting blood, collapses on the ground, gasping in pain (Nice bromance moment) — Getting up with difficulty, fighting while injured, choked, thrown to the ground, almost stabbed (blade stopped by Long Yao), grabbing the enemy’s foot to save Long Yao, bleeding from the mouth, kicked, falls to the ground unconscious — Sitting looking bloody and bruised

Long Yao

Ep 1 : Fighting

Ep 2 : Grabbed by the collar, pinned to the wall

Ep 3 : Fighting — Dizzy, hands on his ears, in pain

Ep 4 : Fighting, hit, thrown against a wall

Ep 5 : Angry outburst, calmed down — Hood on his head, hands tied

Ep 6 : Hands tied, frees himself easily — Imprisoned

Ep 7 : Knife at his throat — Fighting

Ep 8 : None

Ep 9 : Not whump but they hug each other and it was so cute and awkward — Seems kinda like possessed after touching an ancient artefact — Poisoned powder thrown at him, holds his breath — Fighting, sword broken, hair untied, overpowered, hit, thrown against a tree, spits blood, gasping in pain on the ground, willing to sacrifice himself

EP 10 : On the ground unconscious, wakes up, gasping in pain, heavy lidded eyes, asking to be killed, forcefully given blood — (Flashback) Jumping from a cliff — (present) Forcefully given magical blood (with a kiss), face grabbed, pinned to the ground

Ep 11 : None

Ep 12 : Knife at his throat, hands tied, identity revealed

Ep 13 : Fighting — A friend dies in front of him, shocked, crying — Hit, falls to the ground, grabbed, thrown to the ground — Arrows shot at him, protected — Surrounded by enemies, fighting a lot of people, hit a cut multiple times, spitting blood, collapses on the ground, gasping in pain (Nice bromance moment) — Getting up with difficulty, fighting while injured, cut, arm twisted, thrown to the ground, stops a blade that was about to kill Jing Yao with his bare hand, kicked, gasping in pain on the ground, passes out — Laying on the ground barely conscious, saved — Wakes up gasping

Comparable to: Cinderella Chef (cdrama)

If you’re in the mood for something fluffy and while also being a totally foodie this drama will be right up your alley. It’s a very lite romcom, your typical office cdrama romance type mixed in with lots of food. It won’t be a memorable one unfortunately but it’s not a bad watch either especially with a handsome guy like Zhang He as leading man around. Oof when that man smiles. He does a wonderful job with his role even with just a mediocre of a storyline. At first the storyline is quite good then it starts falling apart as the story goes especially when the main leads get together. it’s like the writter didn’t know where to go with it (although the smexy scenes are written in like 🔥🧨 ) Eventually to fix it they throw in the cliche exe’s and a weird overdramatized sickness. I just felt everything was way to rushed in the last handful of episodes. Despite all that it’s still a nice one-watch.
