Easily my favourite car from last weeks Coffee & Cars - The Lamborghini Urraco P300. One of 190 built, this car was originally sold new in 1976 in Canada. Designed by the one and only Marcelo Gandini from Bertone, and sculpted around a longitudinally mounted 247hp V8, it is not fast but it is beautiful. One of the greatest homologation specials to ever come out of Italy: the Lancia Delta HF Intergrale Evolution. Fresh off their World Rally Championship victory in 1991, Lancia retired from the rally stage. However that would not stop this car from going on to win Lancia’s 6th consecutive Constructor’s World Rally Champion title (through privateer teams). The product of troubles times at Maserati 1990, the Shamal is an interesting car to say the least. Roughly translating from Arabic meaning “North Wind” the Shamal was the flagship model of Maserati. At the turn of the decade following the departure of CEO Alejandro De Tomaso, Maserati found itself in quite a lot of debt before being acquired by Fiat. This meant that the Shamal was a bit of a Frankenstein. It was made with the parts and platform of other existing Maseratis, as the company didn’t have enough money to make a new car. They did however have enough money to hire Marcello Gandini to design the grand tourer. Only 369 of the twin turbocharged Shamal were built, this one imported from Switzerland.
