4. Damien Haas
100 Ways to Say ‘I Love You’.
“Come here. Let me fix it.”
Word Count: 419 Summary: A little help getting ready.
There wasn’t a lot of time left before you had to leave. And the lack of time was starting to make you anxious. Standing in front of the vanity in the bathroom, you worried your lower lip between your teeth as you struggled with the delicate gold chain in your hands. While getting ready to go to a movie premier with some friends, the necklace that you had wanted to wear broke - spilling the pendants onto the bathroom counter-top.
“Dammit,” you mumbled under your breath.
You had gotten the pendants back on the chain but the clasp was proving to be more difficult than you originally anticipated. A movement caught your attention from the corner of your eye, causing you to lift your head. Damien was standing in the doorway of the bathroom looking back at you through the reflection in the mirror. He was dressed very nicely and you couldn’t help but smile at him despite how frustrated you felt with your necklace.
Damien tilted his head to the side, “What’s up, buttercup?”
“My necklace broke,” you pouted, turning to face him, “I can’t get it to close again.”
“Come here. Let me fix it,” he said, holding his hand out.
Stepping forward, you held out the necklace and Damien gently took it from you. You let out a breath and leaned back against the counter. Damien’s fingers worked deftly where the break in the chain and clasp had happened. His brow furrowed slightly in concentration, and you couldn’t help but smile fondly as you watched him.
After a moment or two, Damien looked up and held the necklace up for you to see. “Turn around,” he said simply. You nodded and turned around to face the mirror. He walked up behind you and reached over your head to drape the jewelry over your collarbones and made quick work of clasping it closed behind your neck.
“Thank you, Day,” you smiled.
Damien nodded and slipped his arms around your waist as he ducked his head to press a gentle kiss to the side of your neck. He hummed lowly and the sound, so close to your ear, sent a shiver down your spine. You licked your lips slowly and leaned back into Damien’s embrace with a soft sigh. “You need to stop that or we’re not going to make it tonight,” you said in a low voice.
“Mmm, might be worth it,” Damien chuckled, pressing one last kiss against your neck, “But I’ll leave you to it, baby.”
