Future & Metro Boomin
WE DON'T TRUST YOU
====
I think what was nice about this album is that they took a much needed break prior to this. They've been pumping out so much content that this would have easily gotten skipped over, but there is some real hype around this. Less is more.
As someone who's been listening to Metro for years, this doesn't sound like typical production. It actually allows Future to take his time and not rush through his raps. I've seen people hating on the production saying that these are general trap beats; they definitely are not basic trap beats, in fact I think they are some of Metro Boomin's best work.
The production is really fun and there are very few misses--mostly from Future's boring raps that we've heard hundreds of times. Metro carries this project.
8/10

J. Cole Burns Own House Down to Punish Self For Dissing Kendrick Lamar
Tumblr media
FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA - Feeling like his apology wasn’t enough, Grammy-winning rapper J. Cole would cause a storm after he burned his own Fayetteville residence down, which he apparently did to punish himself for dissing Kendrick Lamar in his now deleted song “7 Minute Drill”, which was a response to comments the Pulitzer winning rapper made on the Future song “Like That”.
“I haven’t dropped some fire in a mad minute, so I had to remind myself what it felt like to be in that zone again.” The native Fayetteville rapper would tell reporters. “Truthfully, I made a huge mistake when I dissed Kendrick, who is someone I respect and see as a pear, so I’m doing this to discipline myself. I’m hoping this will be the moment of clarity I need to ignore all the bullshit and just focus on my craft.”
On March, 22, rapper Future and producer Metro Boomin would drop their collaborative album “We Don’t Trust You”, which featured the hit single “Like That” featuring a guest appearance from Kendrick Lamar. In the song, Kendrick would take shots at J. Cole. Cole would respond on April 5, with his song “7 Minute Drill”, which was meant as a diss towards Kendrick.
Cole would quickly retract the diss and apologize to Cole at his Dreamville Fest the following weekend, a move that divided both fans and critics, with some feeling like this would leave a stain on J. Cole reputation from backing down from a diss, while others commended Cole for his maturity during the situation.
Nonetheless, Cole would continue to face scrutiny from rappers, including Drake (who was also dissed by Kendrick in “Like That”) and Kanye West (a rapper that J. Cole has dissed in the past), which may have led to J. Cole burning his house down.
