Hazel and Jason's dynamic is SO fucking disappointing now that I'm binge reading the books again. It was so frosty and distant. Jason was literally just mistrusted and "not like what she expected him to be" in 90% of her Hoo POVS it's sad really. I really wish they would bonded properly. So much potential for friendship just down the drain.
Hazel's unwillingness to forgive Jason for suspecting Nico was genuinely pissing me off I'm sorry 😭 like I never thought I'd get mad at Hazel of all people bc she is literally a sweetie, but she's infantilized way too much in the fandom, so her flaws are easily overlooked, but like she literally went all volcano on Jason and held a grudge against him till House of Hades too? Like I get that she worried about her brother and stuff I'd be mad too. But it's the fact that she selectively forgave Leo SO quickly and never even yelled at him (even though he's the one who started the suspicion in the first place even jokingly called nico creepy and stuff behind his back not that I'm trying to fault him or anything I love him)
look I'm not saying it's all Leo's fault or anything, in my opinion, both Jason and Leo were right to suspect nico because of how back and forth nico went from both camps without saying a word and also pretended to not know percy and stuff. So it's realistically shady behaviour from their pov.
But Hazel gets all sweet and soft on Leo because of Sammy and forgives him in a heartbeat, tbh tho she never really directed her anger on Leo in the first place so there was nothing to forgive. But when Jason apologizes, she gets all cold and frosty like accepting his genuine apology is the hardest thing she has ever done?? Like?? Hazelnut I love you and all, but you just accused Jason of unfairly judging nico but you ironically unfairly judged Jason and went all sweetheart on Leo?? Contradiction much?? Either forgive both of them or don't forgive either of them? Why the bias?
Then in HoH she goes on a whole lot of yapping about how she doubts his capabilities as if she didnt just idolize him like 5 minutes ago RIGHT after he encouraged her that she was doing well and included her as a part of the team?? Idk, she was so petty with him and for what?. I just found it unfair that Jason considered hazel a friend but she didn't consider him one and just fully went all judgy mode on him for the rest of the series. she holds on an even bigger grudge than nico lol. she literally did anything but forgive him or give him a chance. so ooc.
Also, In TOA, I found out Hazel told Apollo that she talked to Jason's ghost after he died, to yell at him about how much his sacrifice had hurt Piper :/ like rlly? Out of all the things you could say to a person you idolized who made a lifechanging sacrifice, you guilt trip him for the sacrifice instead of gratitude? Ig she may have been raging out of grief or something but I honestly didn't like the way their dynamic ended. So incomplete. Just another reason of why I found fanon way better.
Hazel coming in terms with the fact that jason is a boy, and not a legend would've been sm better. since the seven basically signifies friendship and comfort. him being a boy with feelings is basically the whole point of his character, but it only gets acknowledged by nico and leo. hazel of all people would've understood jason's internal struggle, she has literally come back from the dead, if anyone knows about struggle, its her.

HEAR ME OUT...
I have here some underappreciated excerpts from The Art of Wish:
I tried to highlight the relevant bits, but the quality is a bit iffy, so to repeat what I really want to draw attention to...
"The castle was built long before Magnifico was around, but he superimposed himself on it when he took over, which is what rulers have done all throughout history. [...] "Magnifico Style" is on full display in his study. We imagine that Magnifico remodeled when he took power, so this is a newly built and interior-designed space with everything to his taste. [...] Actually, the decision to have an ancient secret lair came very late in production and affected the design of the magic book as well. The lair is an ancient room that Magnifico discovered while doing renovations to his study, so the book had to be ancient too."
So despite the movie's implications that Magnifico and Amaya built the castle from the ground up when they settled on the island, this isn't actually the case. Something ancient was already there and they built over it, shaping something new and 'beautiful' out of what I can only assume were ruins, because at this point in time Magnifico wouldn't have had enough power/authority to usurp any previous rulers. I expect the island was abandoned, the previous owner of the castle long gone. He found the lair in the tower with all its creepy contents (apple dripping green poison, cauldrons, skulls, etc.), including the forbidden book, which he then moved upstairs and sealed away in a glass case with a protective enchantment on it.
But now we get to the actual reason that I wanted to draw attention to this, because what we have here is potential for COMEDY GOLD. Can you imagine it? Magnifico and Amaya arrive on this island, find an old castle with the most shady stuff imaginable in it, and instead of doing the smart thing and tearing it all down to the ground, Magnifico instead flips this evil villain lair. He grows increasingly persistent that this can work because he's stubborn like that, and refuses to give up on the new home they're building for themselves, while Amaya grows increasingly worried over the many warning signs.
"Honey, I found a prophecy etched into the old kitchen wall, claiming that any kingdom built on this isle is doomed to fall to paranoia."
"ANOTHER ONE? Ugh... I'll get the paint."
"Baby, I found old diaries from the previous ruler of this castle, which slowly descend into gibberish as he seems to fall prey to some sort of mad desire for control and overwhelming micro-management."
"Oh man, mood."
"What?"
"What?"
"Mi rey, the howls of the damned are coming up out of the secret lair again."
"Hnnn... I'll add another layer of isolation to the floor tomorrow."

Rewatched httyd the hidden world today and ehile it is visually stunning, i still hate how toothless was written in that movie, he acts like Hiccup purposely denied him love for whatever reason, but it was literally never ever indicated in any way whatsoever that toothless WANTED love! Why does toothless act like he's jacked up on fucking pheromones or something the moment he met the lightfury???
And in the end, he leaves his best friend, no, SOULMATE, for a dragon he's known for like a week????
And Hiccup sends the dragons away because "you'll be safe in the hidden world" BITCH YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!!! WHAT IF THERE'S ANOTHER ENTRANCE TO THE HIDDEN WORLD THAT ANOTHER HUNTER IS ALREADY LOOKING AT INVADING???
Hiccup sending the dragons away bc of safety is the equivalent of moving away bc some weeds popped up in your garden after you've already lived in it for 10 years. Plus, if Berk was getting overloaded with dragons, which was Hiccups main mistake here, then literally just spread them out? Make branch villages from Berk? Just bc Toothless is the alpha doesn't mean that the dragons can't survive away from him. Both tv shows show every single episode that dragons don't need an alpha to live. Hell, some dragons even live entirely on their own!
And the lightfury is pretty at first glance, but when you think about it, what's actually the deal with her? Oh, she can camouflage herself, but that's it, what else can she do as a lightfury? And how did Toothless himself not know he could do the same with lightning? How did he not know he could *summon* lightning???? He's the last nightfury, okay, but he also had to have had parent dragons, right? It's possible they were killed when he was still an egg, but if Grimel is supposedly the "best dragon hunter", how did he miss that two night furies had an egg? Especially considering he knew that furies supposedly bond for life. Wouldn't he know when furies lay eggs too? Bitch.
The ending also doesn't make sense when you consider that Grimel is supposedly dead. He fell into the ocean from a deadly height, as far as Hiccup is concerned, he's dead, he was the biggest threat Berk had faced, he was defeated, and *now* Hiccup sends the dragons away? Bitch, you don't move out *after* you get rid of the weeds!
"There'll always be other hunters" so? They had to deal with hunters since they made peace with the dragons, why is it suddenly so bad after DEFEATING Grimel???
And don't even get me started on "we don't deserve you, not yet" bitch huh??? Every single berkian LOVED their dragon, it was very much a mutually wanted relationship, at least it's never been shown to be anything else!
And the "you gave him his freedom, what did you expect?" Hiccup and Toothless have been together for roughly 10 years, and he first time Hiccup made a tail that Toothless could fly on his own with, Toothless destroyed it, because he *didn't want to fly if it wasn't with Hiccup*. If Toothless was so desperate for a mate, he could've flown off right then! And he also could've stayed without destroying the tail fin and just flown with Hiccup without having Hiccup control the tail! That part is just a huge hole in the entire story!
And Toothless never would've gone after the light fury without Hiccup, he would've dragged that boy down the cliffside in his mouth if he had to! You're telling me that Toothless is just gonna regress to a horny idiot shot with pheromones just bc of "love"? Sorry, but i don't buy it. Hiccup is literally the most important person in Toothless' entire life and you cannot tell me otherwise.
And if the lightfury came around on Berk in the end, there's no reason she couldn't have stayed with Berk and helped defend it from any potential future hunters!

✶ synopsis: everyone on the team loves you, expect miguel who seems to hate you more than anyone.
✶ warnings: angst!! major angst. sunshine!reader x grumpy!miguel. reader is nicknamed sunflower, mentions of death.
✶ notes: there's one spanish sentence in this, I'm not good with spanish so if I've made a mistake please tell me so i can fix it! part two is already up!!!
Everyone on the team loved you from the moment you joined, everyone, except Miguel.
You knew Miguel was cold towards everyone, but he was extra cold with you. Maybe it was because of how different your personalities were.
You were the embodiment of sunshine, always positive in any situation, putting others before yourself. Hence why everyone calls you sunflower, it fits perfectly, Miles was proud of coming up with it.
Miguel on the other hand was cold and distant but that didn't stop you from trying to get him to open up. You'd try to have simple conversations with him but nothing, all you would receive in reply was an eye roll or a slight grunt, but you wouldn't give up that easily.
Like today, you got him some coffee.
"Morning, boss. Got you some coffee." You said in your usual cheerful tone.
"Why?" He raised his eyebrows, looking down at you suspiciously. That's the most he's said to you all week.
"Because I wanted to." You shrugged, placing it down on his desk.
He steped down walking towards his desk, you couldn't help but stare at him, unfortunately for you, everything about him was so attractive, it's such a shame he hated you.
"This isn't how I like my coffee."
"Huh?" You snapped out of your daydream at the sound of his voice.
"The coffee, it tastes terrible. Get it from another place next time."
"Well, actually I made it-" But he had already walked away from you not listening to a word you said. "Alright, never mind, I'll just go back to work." You mumbled hurt by his words.
"Wait, hold on." You looked up, thinking, maybe he'll say something nice after all.
"Yeah?"
"Take the coffee with you, I won't be drinking it."
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
"Girl, why do you look so sad? Did Miguel do something again?" Jess asked with a frown, she did not like seeing you sad.
"No."
"Sunflower…"
"Okay, yes." Miguel being cold towards you was normal, he never spoke to you unless necessary. Out of everyone here, he probably hated you the most, even more than Miles.
"Sunflower, I've told you to stop trying." Jess sighed.
"I know, I know… why does he hate me so much, Jess?"
"That's just the way he is, don't overthink it. It's his loss, baby." She replied, gently patting your shoulder.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
Today was going to be a good day, you were so sure of it.
But, of course, you were wrong.
Everything was going great up until a few hours ago.
Miguel had assigned you on a mission to catch an anomaly, alongside a few other spider-people. His instructions were clear, stick to the plan and catch the anomaly. It was supposed to be simple.
If only you didn't disobey him. You screwed up badly, and because of that, you could have been killed.
"Why don't you ever listen?" Miguel shouted. No one had ever seen him this angry.
"I was just tryin-"
"¡Ay, por el amor de Dios!" Being yelled at by your boss in front of your coworkers was humiliating, everyone was looking at you with pity.
"I'm sick of this, why can’t you follow simple instructions? Is it that hard to understand?" He barked, towering over you.
"It's not a big deal." You tried to keep your composure, you didn't want to humiliate yourself further by bursting into tears.
"Not a big deal? You could've died! A simple mistake would have ruined the whole mission."
Don't cry. Don't cry.
"But we're all fine, aren't we?" You weakly chuckled. That was the wrong thing to say because it only made him angrier.
"Oh? If that's the attitude you have then you shouldn't even be on the team." Ouch.
"Miguel, I think that's enough-" Hobie said, quickly jumping in.
"Not now, Hobie." He growled.
Never once did you think that you'd be in a situation like this.
"If you put more focus on trying to be good at your job, rather than impressing me, we wouldn't even be here!" Oh, so he did notice that.
At this point, tears were streaming freely down your face and you made no attempt to stop them.
"Yep, you got it, boss." You smiled up at him through your tears. It was pathetic, but you did not care, you just wanted to leave and never come back.
"Next time make sure this doesn't happen."
"It won't happen next time." That's because there won't be a next time.
