Also, I'd love to read any opinions and clarifications. If you choose the second option, what kind of tree do you imagine? A Fraxinus species or a Sorbus (mountain ash)? Or something else?
Context: today the warrior cats preliminaries at @namedafterflowerstournament had started, and Ashfur is included in one of the polls. I'd love to see how much people actually consider him named after a plant.

Hello! I have recently come upon a dilemma.
It would harm kits and apprentices in the long run if their names were to be revealed. Whilst the fae will not harm cats that have not earned their true names, their kit and apprentice names are half of their real one.
How should I go about this?
More explainations -
Rowankit/paw - They will be named after the clan they live in, and the tree that protects them. But this makes it hard to differentiate them without appearance.
After their parents - Kits will take on one part of their parents first or last (placeholder) names.
Example: If Moonhowl and Copperdew had 3 kits, they could be called Moonkit, Copperkit, and Dewkit as their placeholder names until they earn their true name, which will then be replaced by their placeholder name.
Placeholder names from birth - I will generate the placeholder name when they are born, which will carry over to their full placeholder name.
Example: Their placeholder name is Webkit, once they shed their true name, their name will be updated to Webdawn
Keep their names - I keep their true names up until they graduate as an apprentice. But this may put them in danger.
Example: Their true name is Fernkit, when they become a warrior and earn their true name, their name will be replaced with their placeholder, Turtleleaf.
I want community engagement for this, meaning I want you guys to choose. So please help me decide!

what meager following I have, please help me
image descriptions: three picrews by @/felidaze_felidform of a fluffy, mostly black cat with a mullet, bright ice-blue eyes, and white ear tufts. other notable features include their big eyebrows, overhanging fangs, and left shoulder scar. they’re standing in front of a starry night sky with fireflies floating around them. each picrew has slightly different red and white markings.
in the first, the character’s nose, muzzle, and throat are all red, with a white chest patch underneath. the freckles on the bridge of their nose are dark gray. there’s a sunflower tucked behind their left ear.
in the second, the red patch looks the same, but the white patch has moved to the character’s scruff. their freckles are partly obscured by the greenish-gray moth sitting on their muzzle, replacing the flower accessory.
in the third, the nose and chin are red, the throat is white, and the chest is the same red. the scruff is back to black. the nose bridge freckles are white this time, and this picrew lacks the slight body gradient that the first two had. the sunflower accessory has returned.
end descriptions
the character is called Vampirefang, uses they/them pronouns ONLY. the red and white are meant to be reminiscent of Bella Lugosi’s Dracula. I haven’t picked a canon clan for them yet but it’ll be either Wind or Shadow
