so so curious about your thoughts behind the "free will or choice?" drawings of socks and tigerpaw

The drawing in question.

My personal thoughts are that Tigerstar, when he was young, was placed in an environment that made him the ‘evil’ cat he is. I like to headcanon that tigerpaw was a spoiled kid, but it was because he was spoiled he sought the approval of the only “father-like” figure in his life which was Thistleclaw. He didn’t know any other example of a ‘father’ (an insecurity of his)- so he looked desperately for his mentor’s approval.

This is what the piece highlights sort of. Socks’s had the free-will to bully Tiny, he did not hesitate in his actions. But since Tigerpaw is hesitating, it’s his choice to carry out the actions of Thistleclaw’s instructions. He could have easily listened to Bluefur in the situation, but it was his choice to listen to his mentor.

And I wanted to explore how that choice weighs on him.
