First of all, you likely have no idea what was really in the water that made its way into your space. For that reason, you want to protect yourself from potentially harmful bacteria. You need some rubber boots and gloves at a minimum.

Another safety element is the potential for electricity to be in the water. Are there any electrical lines or electrical outlets that have water in them or around them? Are there electrical appliances that are plugged in and underwater? These things are important.

Move Quickly

You’re going to want to start cleaning up water as quickly as possible after your event occurs. The more that you let the water sit untreated, the more that you could run into bigger problems.

Water can quickly ruin personal belongings. But you also have to be mindful of things like the structure or the foundation that are affected by that water. You also should consider that water can cause mold to grow, particularly if it is left in place and not cleaned up within about 48 hours.

this is the apartment next to ours

#so there was gunfire last night #a bullet hit the sprinkler system and flooded out the top floor #our floor had water raining down in all the apartments along our side of the building #there were standing pools of water in the hallway #the video is of the unit next to ours #and somehow our apartment is the only one where the cleanup guys were like ''yeah we just have to dry out your ceiling and repaint''#all the units around us have water damage and ours is okay enough to stay here instead of having to get a hotel room #idk how we got as lucky as we did. holy shit.#personal

So the first floor of the school where my little sister teaches ended up almost entirely underwater during the flooding this week, and they lost basically everything that was down there, including the actual walls to the classrooms.

If anyone could send a few dollars their way, I'd be beyond grateful, and I know my sister would be too.

at this point in my student career i can say. my egg fry has gotten sublime

#1. carmelized onion 2. egg at the end #what happens inbetween is up to the contents of your pantry #but i like to cube potatos and nuke them in a bowl of water for 3-4 mins to soften them up and fry them quick #lao gan ma. ketchup. trader joes vegan chorizo. carrots. mushrooms. green beans. peas.
