仲間が続々と集まってくる
↑←頼れる仲間が集結したら、いざ反撃。目にモノ見せてくれる!
パーティーが全員集合!!

The worst thing a story can do to me, as a Maximum Ride fan, is have fucked-up lab shit that happens offscreen and is barely mentioned.
Like fuck you, Persona 3, you can’t just reveal that Strega were a bunch of lab rat orphans and not expect me to go crazy over it.

DAMN I feel like you might be one of the only people who’ll write for Strega LOLLL
can I request my favorite nerd (Jin Shirato) getting his nails painted/done by his S/O? Odd request, but thought it’d be interesting :3 NB or gender neutral S/O is fine!
persona 3: painting his nails (jin shirato)
notes: non-binary reader, short-ish, fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"what if i painted your nails?" "h-huh?!"
to say jin was taken aback would be an understatement. why did you want to paint his nails? what????
"i think it'd be cool! you'd look super awesome with like, black or a neon green... ooh, maybe blue? like your hair!"
the more jin listened to you ramble on about nail polish colours, the more he warmed up to the idea of it. maybe... it wouldn't be too bad. it's not like you were going to go all out with extensions and charms and (shudders) glitter
"...alright, fine. you can paint my nails. but only my hands!"
at his concession you were ecstatic! you immediately got your stuff and got to work, trimming and priming his nails before painting them. you two settled on a simple black for now, with the hope that later you'd be able to try more loud colours
jin doesn't show off his nails, but he does try to subtly reveal them more often than he used to :)

The Lost Bay update
Hey folks, sorry I've been away for a while, I've been busy working on The Lost Bay - First Look., and I’ve just dropped the latest update!
I think we’ve reached a milestone here!
What’s new?
1.An Area generation/exploration procedure for the Sleep Country district. You can generate 10 000 000+ different areas with just a few dice rolls!
In the last few weeks I chatted with members of the community asking how they’d want the exploration tables to be designed. Here's the feedback that I got.
Half of the folks said they’d want more lore injected in the tables, to get a better sense of the game world.
The other half asked for modular tables that allowed for maximum replayability.
With this update I think I’ve reached a nice compromise, not going too much into details here, but basically I’ve split where + who + what into separate tables. The procedure is highly reusable, and the what table entries have strong moods that help define the setting. And, you asked for it, the tables are written taking into consideration solo play.
2.A beautiful map designed by Strega Wolf van den Berg, it’s so exciting to see a physical representation of the Bay!
Tumblr media
3.Two non-human NPCs: the Dogpack and the Spider Nest. I had fun designing those two, particularly their Moves. Moves are a simple way to give personality to the NPCs you create, and to make combat a surprising and fun experience.
4.I’ve modified combat rules and a few other mechanics, the game engine is more consistent, quicker, simpler. Small tweaks that have great effects. If you are planning to play the game I’d recommend downloading the latest version. You might not notice all the revisions, but trust me, they’ll make the gameplay experience better.
What’s coming up next?
Not 100% sure in what order, but here are the things I’m working on:
A couple more Vibes (playable character classes)
A new Reborn Vibe (post-mortem playable character class)
More NPCs
Exploration tables for the Mall Nation district
Errands prompts (solo and group adventure prompts)
Solo support (oracle, and complications table)
Better online character keeper/sheets
And the Creator Kit
Creator Kit and Third party publisher license
As I’ve mentioned a few times already, the development of the game has been influenced so much by the feedback of the community. And I know that several of you have plans about making supplements/adventures for TLB. The Creator Kit, which will probably drop with the next update, is intended to support the community and the creation of 3RD party modules. It’s a series of guidelines and toolkits to facilitate adventure design, like: take off checklist, tips, designer commentary, and modules you can use to build the next kick ass TLB thing.
Along with the release of the Creator Kit will come the Third Party Publisher license, I’ll reveal more about it in the next update.
If you haven't done yet, grab the game! If you're on a limited budget don't worry, Community Copies are regularly available for free https://the-lost-bay.itch.io/thelostbayrpg
Have a great day/week

I? What does this mean? Like genuinely is there stuff about Strega we didn't know in the original game? Best I can guess is stuff from the light novel but that would be fleshing out their characters not like "oh the truth about them?"
Baffled. I am baffled
Takaya and Jin on screen kiss /s
But in all seriousness it probably is the light novel stuff or any additional things from any other content? There's a lot about the P3 characters that simply wasn't in the original games that got revealed in the stage plays, the manga, the radio drama, etc, so I'm glad they're putting that stuff into Reload so that people who don't have the time to consume that stuff can learn more about the characters

Ok I’ve had like 24 hours to digest the ending of P3 so I’m here to dump my thoughts. Full disclosure this is going to have a ton of spoilers for Persona 3 Reload!!
The party members were good, I didn’t like them as much as 5 but I do prefer them over 4.
I was kind of annoyed to learn that Chidori could be saved, because the whole thing is easy to miss. I also think the whole idea of her coming back alive and not remembering anything about the Dark Hour or her persona is kind of… lame. It’s just a very convenient way to wrap up her storyline. I did like Junpei’s growth, though, and she obviously contributes to that. Their personas merging when she dies is really… bittersweet.
Speaking of character deaths… Shinjiro??? Hello??? Absolute shock, I was not expecting to lose a party member. Can’t believe they got me to instantly ship Shinjiro and Akihiko just to have Shinji die in Aki’s arms.
And bringing up both Chidori and Shinjiro’s death, let’s talk about Strega. Jin is overall pretty plain, I don’t have much to say to him either way. Takaya, on the other hand, I have so much to say. Full disclosure, I started calling him “Jesus” as soon as I saw him, which I mean… makes sense with the theme of the game. He’s a good, creepy, culty villain and he does it well. My only issue with him (aside from like, obviously disliking him because he’s the villain and a murderer and stuff), is his design. I absolutely hate that he is always shirtless, it is super uncomfortable and weird (which is presumably the point, but still it gives me the ick).
I enjoyed most of the social links, overall. I didn’t really like Kenji and his whole dating a teacher thing, but his link did get better once he was dumped.
I was also kind of irked by Nozomi because his character and the writing is… pretty fat-shamey, but my main problem was the way his storyline feels incomplete. We learn he was in a cult but don’t ever really learn directly what they were about.
I maxed out all but two social links. Chihiro was left at rank 9 and Kazushi at rank 6. I consider that a pretty solid attempt at maxing for a first run.
I knew this going in (one of the few things I knew about the game before playing) that the male party members did not have social links. It’s still a bummer though, because I would have liked to spend more time with them and see them developed outside of the main plot.
And speaking of main plot. I did actually like the pseudo-science involved in the Dark Hour’s creation, I thought it was kind of neat to have a sort-of explanation for how the world with shadows came about (at least for this game).
The way I lost my mind when it was revealed that Ryoji was death… damn. It was a little predictable, because something was obviously weird with him but I was not expecting it to be that weird!
The whole end of the world final showdown is pretty standard JRPG stuff, so I don’t really have much to say on that plot point, but I have to admit I don’t really like the ending.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of the protagonist sacrificing themselves is fine, even if it’s emotionally charged, I respect that as an ending. I’m more irked by the idea that the protagonist basically fought to survive a few months in order to fulfill his promise to meet the team on the school roof, just to die right before they all arrive (excluding Aigis). It feels like the ending doesn’t really give closure, to see SEES happy together after their success or alternatively have them grapple with the loss of their leader and friend.
Overall, I thought the gameplay was fun. Theurgy adds an extra little boost to your character’s strengths which was nice and helpful in speeding up some of the full moon boss battles (and cheesing the Reaper). People (and cats) getting lost in Tartarus adds an extra reason to explore Tartarus along with Elizabeth’s requests, making extra trips to Tartarus worth doing.
The music is fantastic, of course. Bangers all around, and I don’t think this needs any additional explanation.
So here’s my final thoughts/stats for the time being—I’ll be back to 100% it soon:
Persona 3 Reload
Achievement Progress: 85%
Play Time: 85:15
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Song(s): Master of Shadow, Mass Destruction, Burn My Dread - Last Battle
Favorite Character(s): Yuko, Ryoji, Mitsuru, Shinjiro, Koromaru

{{ HE SAID THE OTHER LINE BOYS--
Tumblr media
*Pogs* Persona 4????
I feel like they're referencing the novel with this bit of exposition though !! Which is cool And also...... potentially means that big hungry shadow was the lost 4th strega member and that's why he wanted to keep the old gun..........
or, the novel knew something about takaya's past that was planned from the start but the games never showed and built off from there. But either way-- Takaya has seen people become shadows persona 4 style, and that's why he knows the shadows are reflections of humanity
which i totally predicted lmao
BUT....... seeing him say that line..... while also having glowing yellow eyes.... feels like foreshadowing dfhkdshkg I wonder if they'll reveal he's a shadow for real, or something like one }}

It just occurred to me
Sumi's gonna pretty quickly guess that if Strega was involved in weird shadow-adjacent deaths before and now Yusuke's here that he's probably involved in, you know, the weird shadow adjacent deaths going on in Tokyo
Which gives us two options: Either A) we're about to speedrun the plot of Persona 5 and have the conspiracy figured out by the second palace or B) Goro/Futaba/Yusuke actually did learn a lesson (at the very least Goro's less likely to do his years-long revenge plan just because Takaya taught him the importance of just shooting a bitch) so they're not working with shido they're like. A Third faction trying to figure out how to get close enough to just Shoot A Bitch and revealing them early on doesn't actually derail the plot because Someone Else is doing Metaverse assassinations.

been playing through p3 fes and… i genuinely love that maxxing out minato’s social stats ended up coinciding with the “ryoji is the appriser" reveal on december 2nd. so here’s a tangent about some hcs / thoughts i have surrounding december as prompted by gameplay experiences.
i feel that the reveal as is, already hits hard, given the moral and existential question that ryoji’s proposal raises. SEES are forced to reevaluate their actions under perceived hopelessness and it’s!! good shit!
but there’s an added layer of depression when you think about the player choices during the afternoon and nighttime segments of the game, and what that implies for minato’s mental state.
since i had minato’s social stats maxxed out (and already completed the tower and devil SLs)... during december, i ended up sending minato to game panic EVERY single night since there’s… not as much left to do. the idea of minato constantly engaging with repetitive activity at game panic just to burn time gets me fucked up. the weight of the decision he has to make by the 31st leaves this suffocating silence that’s hard to push away. and he can’t completely turn away from the impending feeling of “doom” looming over him- during december there’s fliers all over paulownia mall for strega’s cult to worship nyx and antagonize SEES.
hell, you could also just… send minato to bed early and not bother to do anything for the night given that gameplay-wise it’s not “productive” for the player to visit the social stat raising places. december feels extra fucked up when you experience it in-game because it almost feels that minato is just going through the motions of Life™ while trying to grapple with a heavy decision and the existential dread that comes with it. i also think minato could have insomnia- and it just gets WORSE this month.
the dorm’s atmosphere also completely shifts this month as well. aigis is out-of-commission, and each member of SEES is attempting to process the information that ryoji dropped on them- making sense of it in their own ways. when they do join together to talk about it- it’s messy, and emotionally charged by this imminent threat. i love how well the gravity of this situation is reflected in-game, and how SEES musters the resolve to fight nyx, no matter what the future may hold for them.
ANYWAY. i love december in p3- getting a chance to experience it in-game and translating gameplay experiences to the protagonist has really heightened my appreciation for it! even if the protagonists are ‘intended’ to be blank slates… there is so much that you can infer and piece together from the gameplay and AUGH! i love the MCs 😭

WOOPS SORRY I'm behind on news! Let's catch up!
• Persona 3 Reload got a fresh trailer showing off the antagonists. Just like the rest of the cast, STREGA has new VAs as well. I'm not too familiar with two of them, but a notable casting choice is Chris Hackney as Jin.
• Elizabeth was also revealed in the trailer, and her voice has NOT changed. She's still voiced by Tara Plat.
● Japanese magazines have shown more screens of the game, but the screens shown have been from...near the end of the game as a certain fan favorite character had his official art and a scene or two of him shown. If you've played P3 you know who I'm referring to.
And uh..that's all I can find that's worth mentioning for P3R unless I've missed something?
I'll try to see what I've missed for the other two games...

Current Thoughts:
I have a feeling the next P3RE trailer will reveal Ken, Koromaru and Shinjiro via portraits/renders and voice act. Aigis may fit in there too?? I know Atlus seem to be showing off three characters at a time.
Hopefully they'll reveal Strega down the line too...? 🫣
Only thing tho is that none of Strega's VA has been confirmed yet, so chances are they might not show them at all?? Which would be a huge bummer if they chose not to (I feel like they would tho, I mean why not, right?). If they do then they'll show off Ikutsuki as well given the chance.

Review for “The Brilliant Death” by A.R. Capetta! (..pretty sure their deadname’s on the front cover, pardon that.)
Hello, Tumblrians! I’m just going down the list of books I’ve read but haven’t made reviews for, now. I don’t know if it’ll be in order or not, at least there’s the “date finished” for reference!
With this book, I remember I just really wanted to find a book with a gender-fluid love interest(all I’m giving for context is that TWB sort of had me thinking), and somewhere on Instagram I saw this and flipped out. Also, of all the places that I could find this, my highschool library had it?! So that was pretty funny! I thought I’d come across, like…a hidden genderqueer gem faded into obscurity by the sands of time(and the unforgiving bookstagram algorithm) or something!
That would’ve been pretty cool if that turned out to be the case, right?
The Brilliant Death follows Teodora DiSangro, just Teo for short (I read this right after The Sunbearer Trials, you can imagine the whiplash): a mafia don’s daughter. All her life, she’s hidden the fact that she’s been able to turn her family’s enemies into decorative objects with magic, as everyone in Vinalia believes stregas only exist in fairytales. Then the Capo, the land’s new ruler, sends poisoned letters to the heads of the Five Families, leaving Teo’s father gravely ill! And when things go particularly awry, she realizes she’ll have to represent her family at this meeting in the only way she can in a sexist 19th century Italy-inspired fantasy: Not just pretend to be a boy, but become one too, with the power of her magic. Enter Cielo, a genderfluid strega who can switch sexes and shapeshift into different animals whenever, who journeys with Teo as the two begin to develop feelings for each other. And in the midst of her falling for Cielo, Teo begins realizing how much of her true nature she’s hidden. But she can’t lose sight of her original mission, and with every unveiled sinister secret about her country that’s revealed, she also realizes she’ll go to any length to protect her family.
Tumblr media
Eufgh, I had to go back onto Goodreads to remember the summary; this book is so, so forgettable. Which is made even sadder because I was captivated by the summary, and that’s what got me to read it. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought it would, it felt surprisingly boring.
Firstly, THE MAGIC SYSTEM, or the lack thereof. Teo didn’t have a clear limitation to their abilities, except for they were made more volatile by the end of the book(spoiler-y events I won’t elaborate on), and at some point they’d exhaust them. There’s also no aspects of the writing that makes their transformations of their family’s enemies this horrifying or awe-inspiring thing that it should be, like it’s just poof they’re a music box or something now, and maybe it’s just my weird obsession with body horror but also. Come on. So as a result, it was kinda hard to wrap my head around and it felt a little underdeveloped.
Secondly, the handling of gender. I had mixed feelings on this? This was a different part of A.R. Capetta’s gender journey, as evidenced in the different name listed on the book’s cover, and I don’t know if that had to do with the writing of this book but it might’ve. From my point of view, as a nonbinary reader: Gender seemed to be almost intrinsically tied to sex, especially in the case of Cielo, there was more of an emphasis on that being a defining factor instead of also taking stuff like presentation into account(which made for some..uncomfortable sentences). It felt pretty gender norm-y, which I would’ve expected from the macho dudes of the novel, but not really from our genderqueer protagonist. At least by the end, there was more of a dissection/discussion of gender and I felt it improved a bit.
I was also on-the-fence about the romance, which disappointed me because that was a main factor that drew me in initially. It was very insta-lust(romantic feelings weren’t developed until much later), and as a result I felt their relationship moved too quickly until the end. Although, there were a few sweet moments. Cielo put their life on the line for Teo and I’m a sucker for those kinds of love interests. (Cielo was a pretty average “sarcastic, handsome dark-haired love interest”, though. To those who love that kind of thing, you’ll probably eat this up, but it’s not mine. To each their own.)
I also did not like the plot. It felt very typical of the YA genre, only a few months after reading it I’ve forgotten basically all of it except for that there wasn’t a single plot twist I couldn’t predict(and that the mafia aspects didn’t feel very thought-out or well-written). It was also just boring sometimes. The characters feel very flat, side and otherwise, and even the MCs fell into their own archetypes.
I don’t think I can even give this book the grace of saying “but it’s not a bad read at least”. Giving it some thought it definitely is. I just thought some parts were fun just because I like some corny stuff, so I, fortunately, lost track of the final pages I whizzed through. But it’s definitely not the forgotten queer classic I thought it might’ve been.
Book rating: ⭐️⭐️ ¾/5 stars. Date finished: 03/30/23.
(Book content/trigger warnings: Violence, death, homophobia, sexual content, sexism.)
-Paz, signing off!

Hithfaeril (@ramblingsofamoonwatcher) & Eskel continued from here.
Tumblr media
Eskel had given up on trying to be the hero in anyone's story much sooner than his petty and cynical behaviour in which he wanted to be the exact monster that townsfolk believed he was.
He has also given up on trying to be likable for anyone. The coin was all he could expect and that was all he did. Kill monsters, kill men occasionally (only if they were the actual thread), keep his beak out of politics, sorcerer's business and dragon dens. Couldn't keep his beak out of Geralt's business and pretty men and women's bosoms for that part.
It was supposed to be a light and lazy travel to the next bigger town. The area here was vast and empty, winter had begun. The townsfolk was tough and Eskel remembered hearing rumours that in these plains men could slay small monsters themselves.
Until Eskel scented blood. Old blood. Molding bones, vomit. Sulfur. Iron. And the very sickly sweet sense of decay. He'd come close to a caravan which wasn't more than one man with a wagon. At first only Eskel's Witcher senses made him sense who and what it was. Maybe a poacher. Someone maybe found the cadaver of something rare that he could sell.
But something made Eskel go from leisure to alert. The man was the only being in this vast and drought valley. And yet, all about him stank.
It wasn't his business. It was not his business. He's been warned about sorcerers who assembled ... creatures of dead body parts. But why would that stranger transport cadavers in the heat of day. And why was he alone?
Whatever he was, he was no sorcerer himself and his decaying freight would be unusable by the time he reached his destination.
Eskel traveled with the wind in his face, not his back and he stayed away for as long and far he was able to still get wind of the curious man. On the dry dead grass he sat down, pressing his ear against the soil to hear strange noises... Unsettling noises ...whatever he carried. He ... he moved it around. That's when for only one shaky breath Eskel could hear something else.
Eskel should stay out of it. He knew. He knew better than what he did next. He had no idea what or who would greet him in the camp the stranger had shortly built up to stay for the longest night to come.
The closer the Witcher came the more the smells conjured images in his head of decaying kikimora, basilisks, strega...all these things were speculation and ...nothing had ever smelled like this. Whatever this was, he never encountered the species alive.
Things happened so fast. Eskel had come close enough to breathe in the strange man's neck and Eskel was deadset on killing him as soon as he realized that whoever he carried must be something still alive. Something that needed care. Something that was shackled, gagged and terrified. For whatever reason a dress, worthy of a sorceresses accessory lied on a pile of clothes. The man didn't need fire, because he was able to wield basic magic. Like Eskel.
The fight was quick and if that man hadn't gone straight for Eskel's medallion and rip it off, Eskel might have not been forced to kill him. He could've let him live to explain but anyone attacking a Witcher with the sole intent to kill usually ended up being killed themselves.
Crammed, kept, bent like a puppet she lied as Eskel finally revealed the secret the man used to carry. Heavy iron chains held the woman down, like black snakes coiling around their prey.
She huffed through her gag. Eskel was taken by surprise and... The smell here was overwhelming. The chains sizzled and left marks around that poor woman's body, burning her flesh. That must be the source of all these smells, he decided.
“Don't bite. Don't kick. Don't try to run.”
Eskel lifted her up. She was ice cold and felt frozen to the core. Like a bride Eskel carried her inside the camp, ignoring the corpse on the floor and the severed head tossed in the corner, still bleeding.
Now he removed the gag and tore apart the chains, they peeled off her skin where they've eaten into their skin. She was free now, at least of her physical chains. She smelled like an overripe fruit and the breath of withered wet leaves.
“You're cold,” he said, wrapped her in a dirty rough rag. “We'll have to warm you up. Winter came way too early this day. You must be close to freezing to death.”

okay, here’s part two of What I’d Do If I Was In Charge Of A Persona 3 Remake: Electric Boogaloo. this time, I’m looking at the story/plot!
honestly, I think most of the fall storyline (SEES, the arcana shadows, pharos/ryoji/nyx) is perfectly good as-is. sure, it’d be cool seeing ryoji earlier so his fate has a bit more of a punch, but ultimately I don’t think that’d work lore-wise, so I’d be perfectly happy if that plotline was left untouched.
do you know what is a hot mess, on the other hand? strega, ikutsuki, father/grandpapa kirijo, and the prophecy. god lord, talk about interesting ideas that have no room to develop. strega basically exists to shoot people and does little else, the ikutsuki/kirijo plotline is insanely rushed, and the prophecy comes out of nowhere.
when it comes to prophecy, instead of it being something ikutsuki randomly drops on the player, I’d have it revealed piece-by-piece as the player explores tartarus. as they advance through the tower, SEES see murals depicting the story of how to elicit the fall, though it’s all very vague and ikutsuki’s betrayal happens before SEES can see the very last section. meanwhile, the old documents would be changed to flashback sequences so the player can see grandpapa kirijo’s slow descent into madness on screen.
in terms of the overarching story, I’d make it so the ikutsuki/strega plotlines are more intertwined, start sooner, and wrap up by the start of december so they’re not completely overshadowed by the fall/nyx plotline. takeharu would also be given more screentime so his death is actually sad (and he’d also be used as a red herring to obscure ikutsuki’s betrayal).
fleshing it out more, the story would look roughly like this:
april/may would be roughly the same as the OG game, with one exception. when the protagonist wakes up from their post-awakening coma, kirijo takeharu visits them. he doesn’t stay long - merely introducing himself before buggering off while muttering ominous things about the player’s potential. fake villain flags, ahoy! he’ll also pop up again later in the month to say happy birthday to mitsuru (their interactions are caring, but stilted). in general, takeharu will normally appear briefly whenever a new SEES member joins. junpei/ken/fuuka find him a bit intimidating though and prefer ikutsuki, puns and all.
now, when it comes to june, the full moon with fuuka is the same, but I’d make some changes to the narrative outside of it. namely, this is where I’d introduce strega and their connection with shinjiro. instead of that weird revenge site thing that is almost immediately dropped, strega are literally just hedonist borderline drug dealers with superpowers (at this stage, anyway). given they’re gonna drop dead at any moment, why not let loose and live a wild life? so, shinjiro hunts takaya down so he can get his ‘medicine’, and some street punks pick a fight with our favourite wannabe jesus. it ends at an impasse, and takaya is clearly unhappy. during that night’s dark hour, strega ends up de-transmogrifies the punks before massacring them with their personas
so, cut to after the emperor/empress mission, and before the next full moon. koromaru gets attacked/awakens, and SEES comes to his aid. strega is also out and about and overhears the commotion, before going over to eavesdrop. koromaru is badly injured, and itsukuki/mitsuru come and join the others, with mitsuru taking koromaru away to vets so he can get treated as soon as the dark hour ends. the second strega sees ikutsuki, however, they tense up. meanwhile, ikutsuki casually talks to the protagonist and drops a comment about them hopefully ending the dark hour sooner rather than later to prevent things like this. takaya/jin are absolutely outraged when they hear that, and decide to press shinjiro for information...
during the july full moon, takaya/jin ambush SEES after they defeat the hierophant shadow. a brief fight occurs, but SEES are overwhelmed. before strega can finish them off though, chidori informs them that she senses a dangerous shadow approaching and tells them to GTFO, which takaya/jin reluctantly do, hoping that the lovers shadow will finish SEES off. most of SEES manage to snap out of the lovers’ thrall though, sans junpei, which contributes to his lowered self-esteem.
now, in between the july and august full moon shadows, aigis and ken are recruited as normal. most of the team is pretty uncomfortable with letting a ten-year-old fight, but ikutsuki sways them over, saying it's no worse than koromaru, and ken wants to fight. on the other hand, takeharu’s explanations about the dark hour are a bit different. he reveals his father had an underling, a chief scientist that was just as fanatical as he was. the scientist’s identity was lost however in the destruction of the lab, and takeharu has no idea who he was, as he was pretty uninvolved with most of the nyx project. chidori also introduces herself to junpei during this time period. while the other SEES members are busy with clubs, he has nothing to do and is feeling down in the dumps. he then meets chidori and they start chatting, with junpei gassing himself up so someone actually thinks he’s cool for once.
the august full moon fight is therefore a bit different. chidori attacks junpei here, and instead of a military bunker, the chariot/justice fight occurs in some old tunnels where the military and the kirijo group worked in tandem. jin and takaya trap SEES as they enter the tunnel, confident they’ll be stuck down there forever without the guidance of their ‘leader’. either takaya or jin drop a strange line about them knowing just what it’s like to be trapped in the dark and surrounded by monsters before they flee, dropping more hints about their identities. SEES fights the full moon shadows before searching for a way out. during their explorations, they find a lab where human experimentation clearly took place. given all the clear evidence that this was a kirijo funded activity, mitsuru is pretty shaken.
cutting to junpei, it’s shinjiro who rescues him, having come back to protect ken. chidori is confused, and doesn’t understand why shinji would do something he hates (namely, fighting) for the sake of someone else. the rest of SEES then arrives, the dark hour ends, and chidori is captured here
the ken/shinjiro/takaya confrontation ends up happening a month earlier, given the slightly accelerated strega plotline. the fallout of this incident will basically be the same as the OG game, except we see a bit more of mitsuru’s sadness. sure, she wasn’t as close to shinji as akihiko was, but she’d still known him for years. takeharu resurfaces here, and unlike ikutsuki, is actually trying to genuinely offer emotional support. unfortunately, mitsuru blows up on him about the experiments she found. takeharu winces, and states that he didn’t know about them - he assumes they were the work of his father’s understudy. mitsuru doesn’t buy it though, and thinks he’s incompetent at best, or full of shit at worst, and they part on bad terms.
still, SEES manages to regroup, with yukari in particular relating to mitsuru’s bad mood. the october wheel of fortune/strength fight is similar to canon, except at the end of it, what remains of strega attacks. trying to end the dark hour is one thing, but stifling chidori’s freedom is another. SEES is more than motivated to kick their ass’ this time around though. jin and takaya are defeated and ikutsuki appears with the police, ready to round them up. jin in particular freaks out at ikutsuki’s appearance, and begs not to be sent ‘back there’. takaya, meanwhile, takes it in stride, and calmly states this isn’t the end.
cutting to the start of november, the hanged man shadow is defeated. the mood is jubilant - strega is under arrest, and the dark hour has been defeated. of course, this is when ikutsuki betrays SEES. he reveals the final part of the prophecy that SEES has slowly been unravelling throughout their exploration of tartarus is that to summon the prince and usher in the fall, a sacrifice must be made. he then thanks SEES for being perfect little puppets - he tried to make his own soldiers (namely, strega), but they were weak and frail, and he discarded them after they failed to reach tartarus’ peak. meanwhile, SEES and the protagonist in particular were perfect. this then ends similarly to canon, with takeharu sacrificing himself to take out ikutsuki.
the fallout from that incident is pretty much the same as canon. during this time period though, takaya and jin escape from prison and bust chidori out of the hospital.
instead of chidori attacking at the end of november, strega’s last stand occurs early december instead, just after ryoji’s dropped the bombshell about the fall. when SEES confronts strega at tartarus’ base, SEES tries reasoning with them - while they don’t forgive takaya for killing shinjiro, they understand why strega is the way they are, and both SEES and strega were used and discarded by ikutsuki.
takaya then reveals that while he hates ikutsuki, their goals are in alignment - in fact, he’s happy the scientist ‘chose’ him, and that witnessing the end of the world will be a glorious thing. jin is slightly uncomfortable, but his loyalty to takaya overrides his uncertainty, and he doesn’t give a shit about the rest of the world anyway. takaya then shoots junpei, and chidori sacrifices herself as usual.
furious, SEES then pursues the remnants of strega into tartarus, before defeating them. a horde of shadows swarms them, however, and SEES is forced to leave takaya and jin to their fate. takaya accepts it though, and says he’s looking forward to seeing nyx’s arrival from the other side.
the kill/spare ryoji plotline and the rest of the story then unfolds as per the OG game, but strega don’t rock up on the day of the fall. the nyx cult still appears though, and there are some subtle hints it might have been founded by jin, who’d managed to survive tartarus and is now attempting to fulfil takaya’s dying dream on his own.

GUESS WHO BEAT PEE3 TODAY (fes, the journey at least)
(lengthy) final thoughts:
ryoji is kind of. um. "that was my name for a while. i didnt mind it." hes kind of trans. is the thing. also bro 100% drew the shortest stick in this game lmao
obviously ryo/mina isnt quite the same as some of the other insane peesona gay people (2,5. 4 is gay but not rlly insane) bc like. in that form at least we only know him for like...two months?or so? but. u know what. they r t4t and both (kind of) dead. good for them.?
jumpscared by "the arcana is the means by which all is revealed." ive been seeing that shit in like. youtube comments since the day i was born. insane
nyx was like. pathetically easy. to the point where i felt kinda bad about it lol. at least its funny. this is what happens when u have level 99 protag + black viper lucifer (+ messiah for salvation for ailment healing. i could just use me patra gems but its more stylish this way). nobody ever got below half health and most phases (minus last bc of the halved non-almighty damage + gown) were a 1/2/3 hit kill. guys who overlevel because they just love the velvet room so so much (and im prolly not gonna do ng+, especially with portable port on its way (femc!). so trying to experience most that i can)
i did cheese the reaper a while back. used thunder reign strat. was actually harder bc new moon rebalance nerfed the shock rate so its not 100% lol. but took advantage of its ai to get it stuck in a break skill loop (akihiko dekunda sweep) the money was nice, and i spent soooo much time in monad levelling personas. wont be able to do liz fight bc not doing ng+. (slightly related: ive played pee5 so many times and ive never actually tried the twins/lvnza/jose fights. vanilla 1 time, royal 1 time, royal again for a friends playthrough but its not ng+, ng+ for 100% royal but only up to exams...royal for another friend's playthru. lol)
yuka/mitsu is real. to me. theyre even the colors of the lesbian flag
i maxed most social links besides magician (bc hes annoying. surt wouldve been nice tho), mitsuru (got up to like 8 then ran out of time), fuuka (trapped at rank 1. dont like her enough, not enough time. sorry. i played with english voices u know how it is), yuko (accidentally reversed her), justice (i know. who would have thought. started her wayyy too late.), keisuke (hes soooo cute like. i wanna look like that tbh. but fortune isnt useful enough and i ran out of time)
speaking of social links i literally hate how they work in this game so so so so much. i dont want to date all these girls! let me hang out with other girls please... this is the biggest example of romance making all these games so much worse. like. what the hell. (aigis is like. the only good female social link (that i finished) (maybe bc she isnt very much a girl))
another mechanic i hate: NOT BEING ABLE TO PICK INHERITED SKILLS. is every ps2 era megaten game like this? i love love love 'sona/demon fusion but it is so much harder to make stupid crazy builds when u have to reroll over and over again. literally just a timewaster. what could have been...i cant believe my lucifer is still weak to ice. WHO USES PEESONAS WITH WEAKNESSES. IN THIS DAY AND AGE????
the extremely strange continuity with 1&2 is fucked up to like. nickelodean sitcom cinematic universe levels. u know.
im still fixated on 5.i make that very obvious. and i do like 5's overall story better (royal being a very big portion of that). but GOD i love love love the theming of this game.
those strega guys r definitely fucking. i literally do not care about them but thats kind of just a fact.
the concept of artificial personas (that kill you) (that u have to take meds for which eventually kill you) REALLYYYY fucks me up what a BANGER CONCEPT. JESUS! JESUS. gg kirijo group.
chidori...(wretched)
akinari... (very wretched)
i dont think i have a favorite. tbh. like i like mitsuru because i like women and shes hot but character wise shes not actually super my type. i like ken because hes the most fucked up ten year old in the world (justice bias). aigis is crazycrazy theres stuff to be said abt her (characters who give metatron bias). yukari is a mean girl and i like that about her (lovers bias). ryoji doesnt have that much screentime for obv reasons but thematically hes cool (guys who beg u to kill them bias). i like the protag a lot (protag bias). yeah
OBVIOUSLY i knew we were gonna die. and when. and where. and how. but :( head in aigis's lap, brushing away her robo-tears... didnt cry but wow this game.
joshua peefee christ figure moment
kimi no kioku is the best 'sona song. period. nyx (avatar)&nyx (nyx) songs go hard too. but man!!!! kimi no kioku!! LOVE how its kind of a motif in so many other parts of the soundtrack, especially near the end...a unifying melody, an overarching theme.
forever from now ill prolly watch the movies just so i can make an amv. this game needs an amv. and unlike pee5 the animovies should cover most of what id want to say in one!
after the answer, ill finally be able to finish eternalpun. im so sorry ive neglected you guys, my friends...my pee2s....
kimi wo i will never leave you <3
