Steve smiles so much more in the later seasons and it's so nice to see. It's clear he's happier with his new friends around than he was being popular and Tommy and Carol. His smiles in season 1 even when it was just him and Nancy were so much more restrained and practiced. Now he is free to have this big, boisterous smile without having to look good or presentable. I love it so much.

Just look at the difference! He doesn't even show his teeth in season one!
