An essential D&D experience is seeing that your character has one failed death save, going "It would be hilarious if I rolled a Nat 1 right now," and then rolling a Nat 1. No regrets, we die like glass cannons ✌️

D&D time!  Time for Vyce to go apeshit (insofar as a rogue is mechanically capable of going apeshit) on the incredibly terrifying monster that just wiped out a third of his sister’s HP!

Sometimes in D&D you just gotta trigger an encounter that you know is there. You'll be going down a trapped tunnel into a seemingly empty room that you can't see the ceiling of, with clear signs of recent activity and things that vanish as soon as you turn your back to them, and in those moments, you absolutely have to cause a ruckus and go for the encounter.

A sequence of events:
I give Vyce a cool big sister and decide to make her a successful gladiator
DM decides to build her out as a Level 12 fighter
DM, as a fighter player, is very good at building fighters
We meet a djinn in game who offers us all any item of our choice and Vyce decides to get his sister something to protect herself since he's worried people will go after her to get to him
Vyce gives Avarice a Legendary battleaxe
DM consistently rolls Nat 20 after Nat 20 when Avaris fights alongside us using this axe
The moral of this story is, selfless love for your siblings is the most powerful magic of all <3

D&D time! Vyce has been caught in the middle of some ill-advised, unplanned home (lair?) invasion and is now gonna learn about Consequences(TM). Listen, are you even a rogue if you've never illicitly entered someone's home and snooped around?

Sometimes a silver dragon will put your character to a trial, to see what kind of person you are.  They will take you aside, in a memory of your past.  They will tell you about their own past, their mistakes, their regrets, the things that have shaped who they are, the things that bind and hold them.  They will ask you, famously reticent and suspicious and demurring, what you want.  And then you will say, “I do not know what lies at the end of my road.  I do not know what lies along it.  All I know is what lies behind, which is memory.  I have spent years thinking about memory, looking behind at it.  Yet even though my eyes were not on the road ahead, my feet kept moving forwards nonetheless.  I’ve stumbled because of my reticence, my shortsightedness.  There is no reason I should be alive standing here today.  And yet I am.  I’m still here because of the people around me.  Because even when I cannot see the road ahead, they have reached out their hands and guided me, supported me, led me forwards.  I have spent most of my life feeling helpless, at the mercy of others, thinking there was nothing I could do against the great powers in my life.  But I do not think it is such a bad thing to be helpless.  Because it is only when you can do nothing, that you learn to rely on the people who really matter.  What do I want?  I do not know now.  I do not know what lies ahead of me or where my journey will end.  But as long as I have my friends, I trust that I will get where I am meant to be.”

You ever play a session of D&D that just feels like lightning in a bottle except it’s more like lightning in your heart?

Attacked in the middle of the night by invisible wind creatures?  No problem!  Just rip off your shirt and toss it straight into the middle of the whirlwind to give yourself something to stab at!

Vyce taking exactly his number of HP in damage in a surprise round is karma for being a rogue, this is what he gets for that one time he got a Nat 20 with his poison dagger
