Nicholas II and his dogs
All Romanovs adored pets in general but in particular dogs. The Emperor's favorite breed was collies, and he kept a kennel of at least a dozen of them at Tsarkoe Selo.
His two favorite dogs were Raven and Iman. He got Raven when he was seventeen. Raven died in 1895, leaving the Tsar disconsolate. On 28th September 1895, Nicholas wrote his mother: “I have only just received your telegram in reply to mine about poor Voron’s [Raven] death, which made me so sad. I buried him on the Detski [Children’s] Island and placed a tombstone over his grave. Now it is so lonely and sad whenever I take my walks, especially when Alix does not come along . . .”.
In 1896, Grand Duchess Ella Alexandrovna gave the Tsar another Collie. He called the dog Iman and grew as close to him as to Raven. Iman died in 1902. Nicholas wrote to his mother...“I have just suffered a very heavy grief – the loss of dear old Iman – ... I must confess the whole day after it happened, I never stopped crying – I shall miss him dreadfully when I go for walks. He was such an intelligent, kind, and loyal dog!”.
Nicholas continued to have Collies and to take long walks with them, but after the loss of Raven and Iman, he did not allow himself to grow as close to them. In his diaries and letters to his mother, he refers to them as merely "the dogs." No names again.
In the graves of the family dogs on the children's island (marked by black obelisks), the dates of the family dogs can be clearly seen:
Шилка [Shilka] 1894-1910
Иман [Iman] 6 December 1895 – 2 October 1902
Ворон [Voron / Raven] December 1889 – September 1895
Эра [Era] 1894-1906
I don't know who "Shilka" was, but Era was the Empress' dog. If you look carefully at the first photo above, a little bundle of fur is standing by the Empress. That was her. (gcl)

I haven't been just playing video games this whole time I haven't been drawing. I've also been building a robot.
Meet my 300mm^3 Voron Trident! I want to name it but I'm horrible at naming things so if anyone wants to chime in with something I'm all ears.
It's not fully done yet as I need to wrangle the nest of wires underneath and attach some side panels.
I'll get back to art eventually. I don't know when, but I will.

Voron 0 working
Finally I've fixed every issue with my voron bar one, however the remaining issue isnt too bad.
I've had extrusion problems for so long with this thing, I tore down and re built it, it seems to be working, ultiamtly the issue seems to have been that one of the screws was slightly loose, which is unfuriating and mind boggling but regardless.
The only issue that remains is the first time I tell it to home it will move about a mill, then think its hit an endstop. However if I home it again, then it homes correctly. I think I need to re lube the rail but I have to get the lube from home, cause I do not have the money for it. This issue isnt a big one, just annoying.
I'm happy with my Voron and im working on getting it printing faster, it was sitting pritty at 200mm top speed and 2000 acceleration but I wanna up tha cause its rare its going higher than 70mm. but this process seems to be half the game with Vorons.

Imperial Dog Alert!
Tumblr media
Nicholas and his dog Iman (in the photo)
Tsar Nicholas's most beloved dogs were "Voron" (Raven) and "Iman." I have posted a photo of young Nicholas with his adored Voron before, and now, to my delight, I have found one of "Iman." Iman was the collie puppy that Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna presented to Nicholas in 1885. Nicholas II immediately wrote in his diary: "Ella gave me a wonderful collie, similar to Raven."
The day after getting him, he wrote in his diary: “In the morning, I took a walk with my new dog, whom I will name Iman.” The tsar liked the dog immensely and referenced him in his diaries and letters. The young dog was in good shape and could accompany Nicholas II on his bicycle rides: “After reading, I had a good bike ride with Iman.”
Since Nicholas II was so physically fit and tolerated the cold Russian winters well, he walked with Iman in all kinds of weather. He wrote about one of his "frigid" walks with his dogs: "The temperature is 16°. Nevertheless, I took a walk with Iman. He amuses me very much on walks. He is remarkably agile, jumps a lot, and chases crows." On another occasion, he reported that "the fool Iman fell through a hole in the pond, but he immediately got out and looked like a large icicle since his fur froze immediately. It was 12° with the sun." On yet another, he wrote in his diary: "We played at the rink. My Iman cut his paw quite badly." The skating rink had been arranged for the 28-year-old Tsar in the garden of the Anitchkov Palace.
Iman died from heart disease in October 1902. On 20th October 1902, the grieving Emperor wrote to his mother: “I have just suffered a very heavy grief – the loss of dear old Iman – it happened right at the beginning of October, almost on the same day as with poor Raven. I must confess the whole day after it happened, I never stopped crying – I shall miss him dreadfully when I go for walks. He was such an intelligent, kind, and loyal dog!”.
After Iman, the Tsar continued to play with his pack of collies outside but never allowed one to consistently come into the house (read "palace") with him like he had Voron and Iman. In his diaries and correspondence, he referred to this or that "dog," but he did not call one by a specific name ever again.

Buh... It took a lot of hair pulling. But I finally got my printer moving under its own power. Now I need to completely rewire it so it doesn't look like a rat nest underneath.
