Located on a small island off Kanyakumari, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in 1970, to honor Sw. Vivekananda. It is said that the great Indian scholar attained enlightenment on the rock. A ferry ride will take you to this famous tourist destination.

Where winds and waves reign: Situated on a small, rocky island beyond the tip of India, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial from Kanyakumari is a shrine bricked to life in 1970, in commemoration of the Swami Vivekananda's attainment of enlightenment, during his meditation here for three continuous days. Vivekananda went on to become a visionary and a powerful orator in his life, representing his nation and his religion on many fronts, also advocating youth's role in aiding the needy and serving the poor. Once you get here by boat from the coast of Kanyakumari, you will understand how serene and pristine this place was and still remains, and how it could be the perfect platform for some self-reflection and introspection.
