naaliah webb, more famously known as ayanna, was born and raised in brooklyn, new york.

her parents are as blue collar as they come. literally, her parents could work themselves to death and still be working in the afterlife to give their kids a better life than they had. which definitely explains this girl’s work ethic because she really doesn’t play around when she has her mind on something.

okay so kids right ... plural. she’s the youngest of two but never really had to worry about being in the spotlight or anything like because her older brother was the definite golden child. the dude could do everything and then some so she just grew accustomed to that.

meaning that she really just did what was asked of her and remained in the background. she found herself absolutely loving school, pretty much excelling in every subject and dreading the moments after it was over. honestly, i can’t blame her.

she discovered her passion for music at a young age since whenever it came to sunday cleanups, a bunch of icons became her inspirations (whitney, janet, madonna, aaliyah, etc) and some of their songs happened to be the reason she wanted to pursue music or even have a chance at it.

it really took off when she was friends with two other girls and formed a group at like fourteen going on fifteen (does that make them 14 and a half who knows) and they really thought they were about to pull some destiny’s child kind of stunt.

talent shows were their thing and so they really had a few under the belt before this producer discovered them and wanted to record a demo.

the group did their thing but the producer wasn’t really interested in the trio. just one person and of course it was her. she auditioned for him privately and he realized with a lil work, she could actually be something worthwhile in the industry.

definitely caught her parents’ attention and they were more than happy to let her pursue music, just as long as she finished high school in the process.

so like you can imagine a 15 year old with no real knowledge about this kinda thing being thrown in for a demo that actually led to her first album. she was still managing to keep up with how demanding it was and how impersonal the music was too.

like singing about love and boys and sunshine and all that was nothing she experienced before but ya know it’s the image™️ and she just went with it bc she couldn’t say no.

another thing was her stage name which if you ask her, she still has no clue about so she’s always said it’s one of the names her parents wanted to name her but really that’s a lie.

which brings me to her secret that’s kinda like ‘how dumb could you be’ but in all honesty she didn’t know that one of the bops of all time wasn’t original. i mean pon de replay is truly a club anthem but sIS really didn’t know it wasn’t her song until legal papers slapped her in the face

ofc it was handled and dealt with but don’t ask her about ever singing the song or even like mention it bc it definitely leaves a bad aftertaste in her mouth. like when you brush your teeth and drink orange juice bad.

but that was the beginning of her career also known as the ‘little miss sunshine’ days.

and then it led to other phases that really explored what was going through her mind and personal life the media speculated about... a lot.

but presently and for a long time (like six years) just exploring different sounds and things that make her feel good. hello, creative control we love you dearly

overall, she’s just a really a good person who loves the beauty behind things. like she loves glitz and glam of the life but she also enjoys the opposite which is kinda seedy and makes others uncomfortable but tbh that’s where the best stuff is. in her opinion at least.

she likes what and who she likes and isn’t afraid to put that forward because she’s just trying to live her best life™️

TRIGGER WARNING FOR BODY/FAT SHAMING & SEXUAL ASSAULT:  josie’s curves developed faster than other girls her age, so even in like 6th grade ppl were calling her rlly ugly names because her hips had grown and saying things about her, even going as far as slut shaming and oversexualizing her developing body like gross. around this time someone she thought was a friend would repeatedly touch her without her permission (also she was like 13 and knew absolutely no better than ‘uh he’s my pal so i guess it’s alright if he touches between my legs when i dont want him to). it rlly tore her down and she felt like she was nothing. that low self esteem rlly followed her into high school. the bullying kinda morphed more into unwanted glares from boys, girls calling her a sl*t, and ppl just being generally mean because of her body shape. her sophomore year she tried out for the jv cheerleading squad bc she really just wanted to be involved and have school spirit, plus she had a friend who was doing it. things were rad, she made the team, all was good, she rlly liked it and even wanted to go out for varsity the next year. junior year came around and she was on jv again, but their coach ended up quitting so the trainer stepped in. he was nice to all the girls bc he’d known them and was working with them but rlly this was just grooming tbh, like he kinda made it seem like he was hte only one in their corner if they were having problems. she got a weird feeling from him but folks were just kinda like “eh you’re over-reacting, it was just a hug” but when they went away to cheer camp it was like damn what a change. he got a little bit violent and ut was just generally a Not Fun experience, like yelling at the girls and embarrassing them to the point where other coaches and such were like “uh he needs to chill tf out”. to make everything worse one of the nights he knocked on the door of the room josie was staying in, saying he wanted to talk to her, she let him in and long story short he got handsy. when she told school authorities what happened, it was her word against his, but after testimony from teammates about his behavior at camp and everything, the school gave him an ultimatum: resign or be fired and go to court.. lmao guess which he took. so basically he got away with molesting her and being an abusive bag of dicks. END OF TRIGGER

for a long time she blamed herself bc she thought she was too naive or maybe if she hadn’t opened the door, or it was all her fault and she let it happen. sometimes she still has self doubt moments where she thinks about “but what if....” or she says “at least it wasn’t as bad as...” she’s very passionate about the metoo movement tho, and abusers being held accountable for their actions (no matter their gender or sexuality)

she doesnt really talk about what happened in detail, but she has been vocal about the metoo movement and she stands with her #MeToo sisters because she’s been there

since cheer was like “aha nop never again” senior year she got involved in the drama club. she’d sang in church choir before, but nothing Super Serious. but the fall production of grease really caught her eye, so, she auditioned and voila, Sandy. 

after graduation, she started community college in musical theater, still working at the bakery but she fuckin wanted to leave florida (dont... we all??) so she used the money she saved from the bakery, bought a one way bus ticket, and ended up in austin texas... not exactly where she wanted to be, but it was out of florida.

she started singing at bars and trying to get involved with local small theater productions/companies, but that really just was not cutting it. so she asked her dad for some moolah and she moved to los angeles. for a long time she lived in a very very shitty apartment complex (if u rememerbr YEARS ago there was a show on the cw called the complex... it was about struggling young actors/musicians living in one place.. lowkey it was good but it got cancelled before season 2 wow shocker amirite) her agent was kinda bad, like joey’s from friends, but the one thing he got right was booking her an audition for a new girl group that a label was putting together. and boom, ethereal.

AS for the vegas thing lmAO.... i’ve been feeling like it was kind of recent. like, ethereal had already formed or was right at the beginning of the four girls coming together. (i still gotta work out those kinks) but essentially she went to vegas and on a Wild night, married a stranger. all she remembers from the memory clips are they met at the casino, there’s a chapel, back in her hotel room, a charge on her credit card for the honeymoon room service package, and the next morning she woke up alone in bed with a huge fuckin headache and a cheap ring on her finger. she was 22 and dumb. but aint we all?? she’s still technically married, but does NOT wear a ring or talk at all about having a husband because she doesnt know the dude. like literally can’t find him lmao, can’t find him to get that shit annulled or file for divorce. therefore, technically married.

i dont have a Ton but some that i’d love to have established are a mentor (probably someone who is older or more accustomed to fame), a roommate or ex-roommate (could be multiple), a celebrity crush (again, probably more fmaous), someone she tells everything to (they’d probably know about the vegas thing and her history regarding sexual assualt)

* / RUMOURED COLLABORATION.   the two of them are rumoured to be working together on a track, spotted going into the studios together. although little to nothing is confirmed, the mysterious collaboration is received with both excitement and doubt. could be a collaboration on a track where they both sing, but also a writing collaboration. can also be fake ????

* / SECRET KEEPING.   the two of them are involved in a major or minor scandal that could put both their reputations on the line. although the press has not gotten any information on what had happened, both of them are dependent on the other to keep their mouth shut. it’s only the question if they can trust each other. some suggestions for secrets could be purposely damaging someone else’s career together, very rude / possibly career damaging text messages, being involved in anything illegal etc.

* / FAN FAVOURITES.  after publicly meeting once, the fans are fully convinced of their compatibility. although they do not enforce the claims in any way possible, the fans do not seem to let go. the two of them might not be reality, but that doesn’t mean the people wouldn’t want them to be.

* / LEAKED SECRETS.   after one trusts the other with very personal information, it is all over the tabloids a few days later. although the source is stated as anonymous, they jump to conclusions. this could be anything & basically any details about this would depend on the plot but like, god knows to be honest. 

* / OLD CELEBRITY CRUSH.   after some ambitious amount of digging by fans, they find out about the one’s embarrassing celebrity crush on the other, even though it had been entirely unknown up until that point.

* / FRENEMIES.   although friends, it is quite clear that this is used by their label for both their sakes. their friendship together is abused by their record labels to gain media attention, but it’s questionable whether it is doing wonders for their actual friendship.

* / FORMER FAMILY FRIENDS.   this would probably work best with another muse who’s from california. their families would’ve known each other, would’ve been familiar with each other but never truly were friends. axel isn’t very open and honest about his family in the media though, but this muse knows the story and isn’t very sensitive or understanding about his decision to cut all ties with them. could also be a muse who dated one of his siblings / was friends with one of his siblings / etc.

* / ROLE MODEL.   they were the one to take axel under their wing when he first moved to los angeles. although not a stranger to california, trying to make it into the music scene was proven more difficult than expected. this person supported him through the first few years of his career up to now.

* / FORMER FRIENDS.   whereas they previously might have been named in any gossip articles on a more positive note, those times have changed. after a mutual misunderstanding, the friendship ended. there’s still some bad blood between the two of them, but more so because neither wants to move past their pride in order to clear things up. could be a misunderstanding, e.g. suspecting that they leaked private info, the press twisting their words into something negative about the other etc.

* / FORMER ONE SIDED ROMANCE.   they knew each other in the past   ( probably somewhere between 3 years to half a year ago )   and the two of them grew closer in a very short period of time. nothing happened between the two of them, but one of them never admitted to the other about the unrequited crush they used to have. could be a crush from either side, could be like a Summer Romance kinda thing but could also be that they talked online or were friends in person.

* / BLIND DATE GONE WRONG.   they were set up together on a blind date   ( like the last one probably somwhere between 3 yrs to half a year ago )   and absolutely didn’t hit it off. could either be a story they still laugh about or something that still makes the two of them more awkward around each other. perhaps there could be some added tension / giggles because of prejudices when they figured out who their blind date was, but they turned out super different ?
