I am still so proud of this piece, proud to have completed it. I would say, it's not just my favourite piece of 2022, but one of my favourite pieces I've ever done, not because of any aesthetic, but my pure emotional attachment to it. The Beginner's Guide to the 'Sandman' Comics by Neil Gaiman

Over time, Morpheus grew into being more than just a vengeful spirit, and in a certain sense, a hero; though with forces conspiring against him, he was eventually killed. The last few issues of the series were the funeral of Morpheus, and that book was closed forever.

  Dream, as he’s most commonly called, is a part of The Endless, a family of seven siblings who physically embody and carry out the will of abstract concepts, such as destiny, destruction, and desire. Each one of The Endless has its own tasks and rules its own realm, and in many ways, they take on the form of a sort of mythology within the DCU. The cosmic beings are said to have existed since the beginning of time and are among the most powerful creations in the DC universe. However, while the whole family plays a vital role in the events that take place over the course of the comics seven-year run, ultimately the story revolved around Dream. Along with Gaiman, the artists who inaugurated the series were Sam Kieth ("The Maxx") with Michael Drigenberg, as draftsman and inker respectively. Animal Man by Grant Morrison

Few pieces of art were more impactful to me as Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man, as someone who really loves their pets, some of the things depicted here really got to me. It's not a comic that pulls its punches, but it's not cruel, it's done with an incredible love for animals and their rights.

So, what is it about? Well let me tell you: Animal Man tells the story of Buddy Baker, a retired superhero who now lives with his wife and children that decides to go back to saving the world to make some money with the JL and mantain his family. In the process, he meets a wild cast of unique characters that make him go through a journey that will forever change the way he sees the world. Crazy stuff, really.

From fighting against the killing of dolphins to doing psychotropics on The Grand Canyon and stopping to have a little chat with a pathetic supervillain in the middle of an alien invasion, the stories the creative team pulls off are the best this medium can offer. The art is just as important as the script, the way the action is presented is a treat, it really just takes your hand and brings you along a ride that it's over before you notice.

After the first four, the stories are presented in one or two issues, but what first looks like stand alone adventures is recontextualized in the last third as one of the most brilliant stories ever told. If I keep talking I'll start spoiling so i'll stop, the truth it that this is a story better enjoyed if you go blind, so I won't tell you any more about it, I'll just ask you to read it and maybe go vegan... For you own sake! Cheers!!!
